I found much to relate to in this genuine telling of how Shauna transformed. Although not my doctrine, her story show real depth of human experince using a Christian faith as a guide. I love she identifies as a feminist, and let herself be keenly aware of her choices, while enjoying quite a traditional role. We all deserve to find a reasonable pace and comfortable life. And Shauna shows us that it's possible to be firm with ourselves to get there. A very enjoyable read.

If you enjoy reading about how people think and approach a busy life, and need to hear how to let go of things that rob us of energy for the more important things, you'll like this book. It was a great gift to me at at time when I needed to stop just barely making it through the day and my long list of real and imagined responsibilities, and start really living and connecting.

I would HIGHLY recommend this read to anyone who's wondering if there's s a way out of a life full of over commitments, anxiety, pressure and comparison-itis. Shauna beautifully shared through her own story what I believe so many families are struggling with today in this age of speed and competition.

This is a beautifully written book full of beautiful (though difficult) truths. I don't necessarily struggle in exactly the same way Shauna describes and, yet, I still found myself in her story and found the invitation she reminds us to leave behind proving ourselves (in whatever way we all do) to live loved. I really, really enjoyed this book!

When you feel your soul begging you to SLOW DOWN...this is your book. Don’t do it alone. Know you’re not alone by joining Shauna on her open book, real life examples style book about listening to your inner peace and identifying the moments your souls craves more of while parenting and in marriage. Sound words incorporating God’s Word into current day language, all the while connecting the souls to God. Good stuff.

This book helped me do some desperately needed soul searching. I felt like Shauna was speaking about my life - any woman who is knee deep in the craziness of life should take some time out to read this!

This book was incredible! Shauna has this writing style that is so easy to relate to and she using such raw and real situations to really pull the reader in. I absolutely loved this book and learned so much about the importance of rest and realizing our worth doesn't come from how much we accomplish.

Connection is a core purpose of the human experience and the world screams at us in ways and for things that elude us and leave us disconnected and empty. This is a direct and gentle call back to self and purpose.

Prsent over Perfect has been my devotional reading for most of June, usually reading a chapter a day. That's a good pace, because this is a book to be savored. So much she had to say resonated with me at deep levels, even if the surface stories are different (I'm a generation older, retired, and male, for starters). Out of it all, one chapter stood out for me, the one grounded in my favorite bible story--Peter walking on water until he realizes what he's doing and sinks, only to be rescued by Jesus. I have tended to kick myself for failing even to get out of the boat. She had focused on Jesus criticizing Peter for lack of faith. Now she looks at Jesus immediately reaching out to rescue as the heart and hope of the story.
That chapter alone was worth the price of admission. And there's so much more to love about this book. See for yourself.

Life changing and affirming. Jesus saved Peter. Peel off your adult selves and find your inner 19 year old. Pray to Jesus because he is sitting beside you. And the soul felt it's worth. Be present. Just some of the lessons I learned reading this book.

Few books inspire me to write reviews but this one is a winner. Maybe it was the right book with the right message at the right time in my life. Who knows, but this book inspires me to live lighter and keep my soul nourished.

Great book. Very well written, albeit, a bit redundant at times.
Great lessons and message about the reasons we do things and the importance of feeding our souls.
Perfectly states Gods role in helping us accomplish a more peaceful, love filled, life.

I basically highlighted the entire book. It really makes you think on why you do the things you do, feel the way you feel and encourages you to live your best life trusting God’s love and plan for you. I’m recommending it to every mama I know especially those that struggle with perfectionism or people pleasing. Very easy, quick read but life changing.

Its like Shauna is writing about all the things I have struggled with in my life. I have cried countless times and my book is completely covered in all my notes. I love this book and I have purchased several for all of my friends.

Made an impression on me and spurred me towards changing how I do things in life and although Shauna not interested in stars, for people looking for a book about dialling it back with theological sound reasoning to back up the changes they make as a result in their life, this is a good book to read :)

Her writing style is appealing at first. But it quickly begins to wear on you as she rounds through the same ideas in a repetitive loop. Also, like many other reviewers, I found her personal situation unrelatable. Another reviewer said that the author is "humble bragging;" and I think she's right. She claims to be so successful, have so many great friends, have a wonderful family, a vacation home on the lake that she can escape to, and yet she can't cope. Many of us can't cope and don't have the wonderful support network this woman has. What can those of us do to anchor our lives, if we are struggling to pay our bills or have little freedom in our employment?

I feel like this book is helpful to a very specific demographic. If you are in a similar social and economic strata to her (see above), then by all means enjoy this book. If not, maybe move on.
