Jackson and his brothers were adopted by Martin when they were younger. They had a rough time of it before that. Jackson has still had a rough time of it after. He has vowed to never fall in love again. He didn't expect to meet Alyssa. She has baffled him. After their first meeting he can't get her out of his head. When he runs into her again. He is bound and determined not to let her get away. But he's not even sure how long he wants her in his life.

Alyssa's modeling career went up in flames fast thanks to her manager. So she goes home to live with her parents again. Only home is no longer in Texas. Her parents moved to Montana. On her way home from Paris she meets Jackson. They have one night together. One night that she will remember forever but she never expects to see him again. When she does she knows she has to tell him her secret but finds that it is not an easy thing to do.

This is the type of book that I love to read from this author! I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the fact that one of my favorite fictional characters was in this book also. Joseph Anderson is his scheming self matchmaking self along with a whole slew of friends up to the same thing. This was a great first book in a new series with pop ins from our favorite Andersons. I love Jackson's character. I liked Alyssa's character also but to be honest there were just a few things that annoyed me about her. That is strictly a personal character opinion. I am excited to read the next book in this series. I can already tell just from the first book that this is going to be one of my top favorite series! I highly recommend reading!

A simple touch, an unexpected encounter or a moment in time may change everything if we just take the chance.

They were drawn together from the first moment they met. There is this strong connection between them, soul mates. Jackson and Alyssa begin to find the fundamentals of a relationship, learning how to trust, communicate and love each other unconditionally.
Romantic, suspenseful captivating storyline. Extremely well written. Excellent character development throughout the story.

Provided the privilege of reading an unpublished version from the publisher.

This book was just awful. I had absolutely no cares for any of these characters. Why, oh why did she wait so long to tell Jackson that it was his baby is just bogus. The guy obviously has her and the baby's best interests at heart. Is Alyssa just stupid? Feeling sorry for herself? When she first ran into Jackson after their one night stand, I did not understand her hostility to him at all. What gives? They didn't leave on bad terms. So I don't understand her instant anger towards him. Besides she is the one that left! That part didn't make sense to me.

And how convenient. Her house starts on fire and she needs to spend the night at Jackson's. Makes me wonder if he started the fire himself. What's the deal with him always carrying, or picking her up? He seems to always be carrying her somewhere or another. Or chauffeuring her, in case the roads are slippery on the road to his house in the middle of the summer. Sheesh.

This is the first book I read from this author. Though I caught myself shaking my head and saying outloud that 'this book is awful', I'm going to give the writer another shot. I'm going to read the second book in the series. But if the character is as weak and pitiful as Alyssa, it will be the end of the series for me.

Wow it seems that no matter what this lady writes i completely love it. it doesnt amtter what characters i read i get gripped, pulled in and hooked like a fish. i finished the book wanting more i cant wait for the next in the series.

Jackson Whitman is guarded, being burned from a past love and losing the only thing he has ever held precious to him he doesnt find it easy to let him self be free. When he meets Alyssa on a plane they both throw caution into the wind and spend the night together.

I loved how we develop with the story how you want the best for this family especially after the start in life they have had.

i loved seeing some of my favorite faces in this book i have always loved the crossover of characters in mels writing it makes it feel so much more real that you always get a glimpse into their lives.

Her Unexpected Hero by Melody Anne is a spinoff of her Billionaire Bachelor series so if you have missed those you can pick this up with no problem. I really enjoyed this book insta-lust that leads to true love. Melody Anne is such an easy author to read. If you like your heroes rich, an accidental pregnancy and a reluctant heroine this is a book for you.

Jackson Whitman sealed up his heart when he lost his wife and his daughter. Changing from his hometowns Fire Chief to billionaire he has no plans to marry ever again or have kids. Alyssa's modeling career is over and her manager/boyfriend has royally screwed her over stealing her money and spreading lies. Jackson and Alyssa are on the same flight back into the states, Jackson is intrigued by the beauty he sat next to waiting for the (what seems like forever) delayed flight, so that when they finally board he pays for her to upgrade her seat to the one next to him in first class. The journey from Paris to New York is full of sexual tension and lots of teasing. Upon landing Jackson invites Alyssa to his hotel room to spend New Years Eve with him. Still sore from her boyfriends betrayal Alyssa thinks it couldn't hurt, she needs something to remind her that she is still desirable and it's not like she will ever see him again...

Four months later and Jackson is still obsessing over Alyssa and how she just disappeared after the fantastic night they spent together. He never expected to find her working at his hometown bar. With the meddling grandparents trying to push Jackson and Alyssa together never realizing that they had already met comes to fruition only because Jackson is already obsessed and Alyssa is reluctant. Alyssa is scared to make any kind of commitment with Jackson because he flat out told her his story and that he never wanted to have kids again and here she is four months pregnant with Jackson baby. Alyssa's fear is what keeps her pushing Jackson away even though she is falling in love with him. Jackson is trying to convince everyone he only just cares for her. It does have a bit of a tear jerking ending but a sweet one.

Her Unexpected Hero by Melody Anne is a 2015 Pocket Star publication. I received this book as a XOXpert, XOXO After Dark's Official Street Team.

I recently discovered this author mainly through some book promotion sites and realized I really liked her stories.

In this one, ex- model Alyssa Gerard discovers her ex-boyfriend/manager absconded with her fortune and most of it is just gone. So, tucking her tail between her legs she leaves her lucrative career behind in Paris and boards a plane for New York City.

When she is informed her ticket was upgraded to first class she is seated by Jackson Whitman, a wealthy and very over confident man. But, the two strike up a conversation which leads to a one night stand in New York on New Year's Eve.

For Alyssa it's a one and done. She will not be ready for a relationship in a good long while, so she continues on her way to Montana where her parents live and begins to piece her life back together again. There is only one little hitch....she soon discovers she is pregnant.

Jackson is no stranger to pain and loss. He has not been able to put a terrible, heart wrenching tragedy behind him and has lived life on the run, dating many women, and staying focused on his work. But, Alyssa has him all turned around and Jackson feels out of his element. The more he pursues her the more she pushes him away. What he doesn't know is why Alyssa has never explained her unborn child's paternity, never suspecting he might be about to become a father.

This is a fast paced contemporary romance that explores the difficulties one faces after being betrayed or in Jackson's case going through a terrible loss, and trying to find one's footing in life again. Add to that the possibility that your happy ever after is right there in front of you, but you are too afraid to reach out and grab it.

The controversy of course is whether or not Alyssa had the right to keep her child's paternity a secret. If she really did have a one nighter and never saw the man again, I suppose I could live with that, but she did deceive Jackson and even though she knows she needs to let him know the truth, she continued to keep it a secret. I wondered if she was even going to let her child know someday. But, what was really holding her back wasn't necessarily a deliberate omission, but her absolute fear of gambling on Jackson and losing the game in the end. She was afraid and I could understand why she would feel that way.
Jackson is a great guy, even if he came off as being arrogant at first, and is sometimes is a little pushy. Alyssa really makes him work to win her over, and although the inevitable blow up is coming, Jackson comes through in the end, big time.

Once again, Melody Anne has written a very enjoyable contemporary romance. The story reminds us that life throws us curve balls, sometimes it's a personal loss, sometimes it's a major setback career wise, and it can really knock you out for the count. But, life offers no pat answers and sometimes in order win we have to take a chance no matter how terrified we are of failure.

Overall, a light, easy, and enjoyable read. 4 stars

* note * One tiny little thing I couldn't help but share here is the Elton John song lyric to “Bennie and Jets” mentioned in this book was incorrect .... it's not a “magic suit” … It's a “Mohair suit” . LOL! I'm sorry, but I'm still chuckling about that one. ( Mohair is a silk fabric, btw)

This is an enjoyable start to a new series featuring three sexy brothers who had a rough start in life. The story centers around small town life with a cute premise and engaging characters.

Alyssa Gerard is flying home to her parents in Montana, a little dishearten and very broke. Her ex-manager, ex-boyfriend left her desperate, not only taking all her money but also tarnishing her reputation. Although she is ready to make a new life for herself, she wishes it could have been on her terms. When she meets the disgruntled good looking man in the airport, she is not sure what to think, but is intrigued when she learns her good fortune of an upgrade to first class was his doing.

Jackson is grumpy and does not want to talk to anyone he just wants to get home. But an unexpected late plane has him noticing a beautiful woman, so much so that he gives her his extra seat in first class. With a nine hour flight ahead of them, they take advantage of the chemistry that is between them and spend some time getting to know each other. The good feelings during the flight lead to a night of heated passion that scares Alyssa so much that she leaves before he wakes. Not realizing they have more in common than either think and that their futures are intertwined.

A truly enjoyable romance with a down on her luck ex-model ready to start a new life. A new series with humor and romance that shows how unplanned events can have good outcomes.

Alyssa is a good person who has had some horrible events change her future. She is returning to her parents home to regroup with little money and her self esteem in tatters. She can’t even call it going home as her parents have recently moved from Texas (her home growing up) to the wilds of Montana, but she rallies and I like that about her. While flying to Montana, she meets Jackson a sexy confident man who helps her overcome her depression and treats her to not only a first class seat but also to an amazing night spent together.

Jackson comes across as surly and gruff when they first meet, he is short tempered with the airline employees which turns Alyssa off at first (me too) but he is intrigued by her and makes a point to redeem himself. When he wakes to find her gone after their night, he is confused by his feelings as he goes home to his family, and is delighted to find her waiting tables at the restaurant he just happens to now own.

Their relationship struggles throughout the book, he really wants things to work out between them and is always showing up wherever she is which frustrates her. Not only because she beginning to like his company, but also because she is keeping the fact that she is pregnant from him, scared for several reasons. I actually like a secret baby trope in a book, but I felt she kept it hidden longer than felt right,

they struggle with their relationship for most of the book and it is not until a tragic situation happens that feelings are revealed and the secret is out.

The story is easy to read with a fast pace and cute plot. Secondary characters play important roles, this is a small town and they both have families that are very involved in their lives. I like Jackson’s brothers and look forward to their stories and sexy doctor, Spence is next. A great start to a new series by an author who I will enjoy reading again.

“Sometimes we have to risk everything before we can find true happiness.”

The prologue pulled me in and the first meet kept me there!

Jackson and Alyssa had chemistry from the beginning. I really thought I knew how their story would go, but boy was I wrong! These two had way more surprises and turbulence than I expected. The character development itself was fantastic. We get Jackson's background first and it is a bad situation turned feel-good story. He and his brothers show their true colors at a young age and you just know that they will grow to be the kind of men you want to know. Jackson and Alyssa both have heartache to overcome and they do not want to expose themselves to that kind of pain again. But like most great love stories, everyone around them already knows than they belong together.

One of my favorite aspects of this book was the support characters and there were a lot! Not overwhelmingly so, but they were a big family and a small town. You do the math. ;) Alyssa's parents were warm and compassionate. And remarkably patient! I mean WOW! They really knew their girl and what she needed. Jackson's brothers and dad were the best! So great that I cannot wait for their books to come out. If they are growing men like that in Montana, book me a one-way ticket! But seriously, there were a great family. It felt good to read about such closeness. I wanted to be on that ranch with them.

The story itself was fun and exciting. I loved the back and forth between Jackson and Alyssa. I will say that I wanted to band their heads together a few times! And I definitely was not cool with how long Alyssa let things go, but then again, I am not her. She was scared and hurt and did what she had to do to protect herself. There were moments where she could have faced her fears and communicated with Jackson that they would have both been saved a lot of heartache. It was a little much at times, but it did not overshadow the story or the wonderfulness that was Jackson. He was just plain great.
"Baby, when you're good, you know it."

I give this 3.5 fate-never-looked-so-good stars and pair it with a bunch of little airplane liquor bottles!

This was a story centered around family and the notion that sometimes the best things in life aren't planned.

Alyssa is sitting in the airport, waiting for her flight home from Paris, when Jackson takes a seat next to her. He's sophisticated and downright delicious. And he can't keep his eyes off of her. There's something about Alyssa that makes Jackson want to get to know her better. So he gets her seat switched next to his in first class.

They spend the flight flirting and even have a sexy make-out session. She's a little insecure and convinced he couldn't want anything more and he keeps reminding himself that he doesn't do relationships. That doesn't stop either of them from spending their lay-over night in New York, together. What was supposed to be a one-night stand, changes the course of everything. Especially when their parents get involved.

"Baby, when you're good, you know it."

This is the first book that I've read from Melody Anne and I found it to be a quick, entertaining read with a great twist. What I loved most was the family aspect of the story. Especially, Jackson and all of his brothers. And I couldn't help but to laugh at the parents acting as matchmakers. It was really cute. I'm looking forward to seeing who they're going to match up next.

So why not a higher rating? There were a few things that bothered me. I struggled with the connection between Alyssa and Jackson in the beginning. It felt really rushed. I wanted more dialogue between them. It was a lot of inner thoughts and then bam, they were making out. After they reconnected, it was a slower build and it felt more sincere. I just wish that Alyssa hadn't kept the truth from Jackson for so long, considering the circumstances. It won't keep me from reading the next book though.

Alyssa is on her way to her parents house to lick her wounds after a bad break up. But one bad luck after another, she ends up at the airport for hours in a rut of delayed planes. Call it bad luck, but this leads to an unforgettable one night stand with a very sexy, very rich man. Maybe it’s fate because, that night will not be the last she sees him.

Jackson, a widowed work-a-holic still grieves the loss of his daughter and wife even after four years had past. He has immersed himself in meaningless one night stands until he finally meets the girl who intrigued him. A woman that will go against everything he is used to. He is shocked that for the first time, the girl didn’t want anything more. But after seeing her months later, he can’t help but attempt for something more.

I enjoyed Allysa and Jackson’s story. The courtship was sweet and romantic, and even the angst between them was cute. The small town theme was complete with meddling elders and nosy neighbors. There was plenty of humor, and the plot kept me reading. My only gripe is Allysa’s deception or lies by omission. It made me cringe each time she weaved the web of lies that truly was unnecessary. It was minor, but I felt that the conflict could have been better.

The backstory with Jackson and his brothers was intriguing. I can tell it’s thick with history that made their relationship strong. There’s a lot of history there that I want to read more of. Overall, Her Unexpected Hero was a quick, fun and sweet read. Perfect for a lazy weekend.

I received an ARC of Her Unexpected Hero by Melody Anne for an honest review. I enjoyed Jackson and Alyssa's story. Both had been betrayed in the past by people they loved and trusted. For this reason they were afraid to trust and that made the journey to love difficult. Having read a number of Melody Anne's books in the past--I can honestly say that her books are always enjoyable reads. I would definitely purchase any book that she has written.

Her Unexpected Hero was exactly what I have come to expect from Melody Anne! It is a wonderfully written love story that made me cry, laugh and swoon! The main character, Alyssa, was looking to rebuild her life and was thrown a curve ball in more ways than one. I thoroughly enjoyed the way she was able to put Jackson in his place while creating a new life for herself! I will definitely be recommending this story to all my friends!

Melody Anne is a favorite author of mine so anything she writes I usually love. Her Unexpected Hero is one of my favorites. It is just enough of the alpha male to balance out the humor and fun in this story. There is so much more to this story than just a romance. It starts off with a young boy almost drowning and the 3 young teenagers who save him and the reward is so much more than they ever dreamed. This story is about Jackson and his pain and the woman who helps him love again! Absolutely one of my favorites by Melody Anne. If you haven't read any of her books you are in for a treat! She writes not only the H&H story but she weaves such a strong sense of family in all her books. You can't help but fall in love with all the characters!

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast moving. I've rated it an almost 5*.Sometimes I didn't like the hero so much but he grew on me as we were allowed to get to know him better. They were pretty broken from their pasts and went a long way to healing each other. I would enjoy reading more of this author's work.
