Ben Davis lost his belief in God when his brother took his life which resulted in his mother becoming an alcoholic and his father leaving the family. Thus forcing Ben to give up a scholarship to stay home and pay the mortgage and take care of his mother. During a bout of depression he contemplates killing himself. Deciding to pray He asks God for help/hope which comes when his doorbell rings.
Summer Smith just graduated collage and is undecided what to do with her life. Her Aunt Iris plans to go on a cruise and asks Summer if she’ll watch her business while she’s gone. Having never worked in a flower shop before she soon finds out she is way over her head. Help comes in the form of Ben who is returning flowers that was accidentally sent to his home.
This is a sweet story full of lively characters. You feel like you are actually living in Sweet Grove, TX. The writing is good and the story flows and you just want to cuddle down on the couch with a cup of tea and spend the afternoon reading. This is a wonderful book!

Love's Prayer is the first installment in the First Street Church Romances by Melissa Storm. The book focuses on Ben Davis, a young man in small town Texas. His depression has him thinking of taking his life as his brother did but something causes him to send up a prayer to a God he's not sure exists. His life is further complicated by the alcoholism his mother uses to escape the memory of her oldest son's suicide.
Summer Smith is in town for the summer to run her aunt's flower shop while her aunt goes on a long planned cruise. She is a college graduate without a clear life plan.
The two and their interactions with an interesting group of background characters form the community of believers in the small town. They show the best of how small towns can support others.
The concluding theme was best articulated by Ben when he said he needed, "To stop analyzing every moment and focus on living them instead." Both the characters debated taking leaps of faith because they might not like where they land. Over time they began to realize that taking the leap was the answer. Slow to start but it picks up.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This story takes place in Sweet Grove Texas. Sweet Grove is a very small town, so small that everybody knows everyone and everything about them.
Summer goes to Sweet Grove to stay at her aunt's house while her aunt goes on her dream cruise. This cruise lasts a couple months and this will give Summer enough time to figure out what she wants to do with her life now that she has graduated from college. Summer will become the ray of sunshine that Sweet Grove needs.
Ben and his mother Susan are trying to deal with death of a family member. They both have shut down, become recluse and deal with this death in non healthy ways.
When Ben and Summer see each other for the first time, they hope it's not the last, which it is not. They both seem to be in the right place at the right time and help each other out when they need it the most. They both try to hide their feelings for each other, they know that Summer is only the for a couple months. As time goes on, Summer realizes that when her aunt comes back that there wouldn't be anything to keep her there. Ben doesn't want her to leave and asks several times for her to stay. She can't. Ben refuses to give up and does something that he hopes will make her want to stay. Will she?

This book was very touching ... sometimes I thought, "how did Melissa know that was something I dealt with in my own life's journey. Melissa has a remarkable way of writing her stories, stories that readers can relate to. She is by far one of the best, if not the best, authors around. She knows how to draw her readers in to where they forget that it is a story, makes you feel like you are right there with her.
Thank you Melissa for another great story. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

First, I want to thank Melissa Storm for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Love’s Prayer is the first book in Melissa Storm’s new series: The First Street Church Romances. The following book in the series will be Love’s Promise.
The dedication to Falcon and what Melissa wrote touched me on a personal level more ways than one.
Melissa Storm is truly a gifted writer and touches the hearts of all of her readers. This book especially touched home to me as there was a character I could personally identify with. Kristina Rose had always had an addiction to food. Kristina Rose had never been kissed or never had a boy look her way before. Something she always longed for. Yet, you never see love stories written for fat girls. However, that was going to change. Kristina Rose had severe diabetes and was having problems losing weight on her own. So, her doctor suggested Gastric Bypass Surgery. Kristina Rose didn’t know what to expect this was all new to her! She had never been cut up before! How did she know she would wake up happy, healthier, and skinnier when all this was over? In the next book we will learn how that story unfolds.
This however, is not Kristina’s story to tell just yet. This is the story of Ben and Summer. It is filled with Pain, tragedy, alcohol abuse, suicide, husbands left, dreams that fell apart, faith, God, good friendships, family, two lost souls coming together as one, transformations, celebrations, beautiful hearts, karaoke, a community helping a family recover from years of suffering, going after your dreams and achieving them, and the power of prayer and how it really does work, there were times when I smiled from ear to ear, times when I laughed at the botched flower orders, but times when I cried like a baby, but most of all times when I wanted to give Ben a huge hug for all he had been through over the years. Thank God for Summer!! For without Summer who knows how Ben would have ended up!! Summer saved Ben and his life in more ways than one!
Each character is loveable and plays a very important role into the story! I loved the cute little town, the library, the flower shop, Ben’s house, the Cider Mill, etc. I could picture all these cute little places in my mind. I know if this was a real place that I would want to visit it.
One special character in the book that I know holds dear to Melissa was Sunny Sunshine the bird! I smiled ear to ear reading about that character. How it was Aunt Iris’s pride and joy and how much she loved the bird!!

This story follows Summer and Ben in Sweet Grove, Texas. Summer recently graduated from college with a degree in communications but is unsure of what she wants to do with it. Ben grew up in the small town of Sweet Grove and works at the local grocery store trying to take care of both he and his mother after his brother committed suicide in a very public way. Ben is suffering from severe depression and contemplating suicide when he has a chance meeting with Summer who has come to town for a few months to run her aunt's flower shop. Summer is a shining light in the darkness that has surrounded Ben; he feels she is the answer to his prayer for help. Summer and Ben agree to be friends but quickly fall in love. Summer helps Ben find his way back to enjoying life and dealing with his alcoholic mother. Ben helps Summer to make decisions about her future. The only problem is whether or not that future includes him.

This story deals with the very heavy topics of suicide, depression, and alcoholism in addition to faith, love, escaped parrots and bad karaoke.

I did have a hard time getting into the story. I really liked Ben but Summer was more difficult for me to like. Summer seemed almost ditzy at first with her indecisiveness and that turned me off a bit but as the story continued, I discovered that was not the case. It was easy to fall in love with all of the other characters in Sweet Grove too.

The only thing that really threw me for a loop was the epilogue. It is written from the POV of one of the secondary characters. I understand that she is a main character in the next book but it just struck me as odd.

This is the first book I have ever read from this author and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I knew that Ms Storm writes about Christian characters but I wasn't sure how religious the story would be. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I did not feel as though religion was being shoved down my throat.

I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily provided a review.

This was a well-written, sweet, uplifting book. Summer Smith has come to Sweet Grove, TX to run her aunt's flower shop for the season while she decides what to do next with her life. Ben Davis gave up his plans to attend college when a tragedy occurred in his family. He is nearly to the point of suicide when he sends one last plea to God, not even sure if he believes. They unexpectedly meet and I enjoyed seeing them start to build faith, hope and love, while learning to believe in each other and themselves. This book is a standalone story that is the first in a series of sweet and wholesome small-town love stories with the community church at its center. I am looking forward to reading more of the books in this series. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I highly recommend this beautiful story which is centred around Ben who had lost hope and Summer who cannot decide where her future lies. Their accidental meeting begins a friendship that leads each of them to find their faith and their path while helping Bens Mum to overcome her problems. The amazing support they receive from the Townspeople during their quest is nothing short of amazing. A wonderfully sensitive and beautifully written story. Thank you Melissa, I look forward to future episodes in the lives of this Community.

As with most of Melissa Storms books, this book is not so much about romance, as it is about hope. This is a real tear jerker dealing with both spiritual and moral issues. This is a great book into understanding the desperation of depression, and the havoc wrought about from alcoholism. Neither of these issues are we able to deal with, without having people who care for us, and can lift us up emotionally, spiritually, and some times by doing an intervention. One needs forgiveness from those who have been hurt by the actions from these diseases The author has crated many characters who were able to help restore two broken people, and the romance that blossomed between Summer and Ben was very natural. It was nice to see how Ben was released from the bondage of depression, and now had clarity in his life. When Ben thought he would have to say goodbye to Summer, he devised a very creative way to induce her to stay. Even though Ben's mother was an alcoholic, and he was resentful and depressed because he had to take care of her, he along with his girlfriend Summer, did an intervention to get her into a rehab facility. This books was very well written, and I had tears several times through the book. Having known several with severe depression, it bought back a lot of memories.

Excellent!!! Ben's predicament is heartbreaking, Summer is the beam of sunshine that helps him to find hope in God. Very realistic story on how the burdens of life can weigh you down and the effect they have on our choices. Very emotional, tears of sadness and tears of joy as Ben finds the strength to break out of the cocoon he has allowed himself to become wrapped up in, because he forgot to hope for something better. Very well written.

Two different people in different walks of their life. A woman is just passing through for a bit in a small town to help her aunt. The other is trying to decide if he should hold on or let all of it go once and for all.

Ben doesn't have the greatest life. He's depressed more than anything. With things at home going wrong. His private life shot because of what's left of his family. Before a ray of sunshine cames passing into town. He was thinking of the unthinkable: suicide. Will he finally get that last shot at life? Will he finally take the plunge and follow God's will?

Summer is just a passing figure in the little town called Sweet Grove. Helping her Aunt Iris keep things going in her shop, and taking care of her aunt's pet bird Sunny Sunshine while she takes her couple months vacation. And how will she react to actually being wanted for a change?

I found I really loved the two main characters Ben and Summer. They had real life issues. Ben's were quite serious but he got desperate and prayed for a miracle. The story shows you how sometimes what you perceive may not be what's really truth. Ben through his journey with Summer rediscovers his faith not only in himself but in his community and in reality. This book is so rich in dealing with true life issues and they come across as very real as do the characters. It's funny, quirky, sad, and uplifting all in one. So worth reading. I was given a copy of the book free to review with my honest unbiased opinion.

Melissa Storm's new novel, Love's Prayer, is emotional, touching and very romantic. The themes of depression, alcoholism, and addiction are some of the hard topics she writes about in this novel. Even though these are tough subjects, Love's Prayer still manages to be up-lifting and features an HEA ending. The story is about a damaged man whose life is filled with despair and hopelessness, but eventually finds love, spirituality, and happiness because of a woman new to the town. Melissa's Storm's writing is so vivid that I felt as if I were the one falling in love for the first time and I even caught myself grinning goofily from ear-to-ear as Summer and Ben fall in love. I really loved this novel and can't wait for the next book in The First Street Church Romance series (and Kristina Rose's story).

Ben and Summer spend the summer together while she is running Aunt Iris' flower shop.  Summer is struggling to decide what career to pursue now that she has graduated from college.  Ben had put his college plans aside to support his mother since the suicide of his brother.  He is working as a bag boy at the local market and is in a major depression because of his family troubles.  Ben and Summer find that they can change their lives for the better with a little help from their friends. Their restored faith and the compassion of the townspeople are heartwarming and affirmative.  This was a sweet, quirky new adult tale that kept me turning the pages to see whether this couple could find their HEA together. I am looking forward to reading more about their friends in this new series!

I loved reading Summer and Ben’s story. “Love’s Prayer” is the first book in the First Street Church romance. I can tell I will be reading them all and have already pre-ordered the second book in the series, “Love’s Promise”. Ben has endured much pain for a man in his 20’s. He has given up a tremendous amount of himself to help take care of his mom after his brother committed suicide and his father left. Summer, a recent summer graduate, does not know what to do with her life but is asked to take care of her Aunt’s florist while she is away on a cruise of a lifetime. A wrong delivery of flowers by Summer allows Ben and Summer to meet. I always say that things happen for a reason and God sure had plans for both Ben and Summer. The problem is that neither quite knows what “it” is but with God leading the way, they find “it”. Dealing with real-life issues, Ms. Storm writes a great story that has characters that find strength and determination to deal with their lives.

Ben Davis was depressed. He abandoned his dreams to take care of his alcoholic mother after his brother committed suicide and his father left them. Ben thought his life didn't matter and was contemplating suicide when he prayed to God for help and his answer was Summer. Being with her gave his life meaning and purpose again. But Ben has a lot of insecurities, is afraid of rejection and that Summer won't understand his crazy life even though she grew up with an alcoholic too. Summer is afraid is to lose her heart only to be forced to leave in a few months for work.
Who doesn't wonder about the choices they make in life, whether or not their life matters, or feel hopeless sometimes. Great romance about overcoming depression, finding love and happiness, and following your dreams.

A sweet, Christian romance. Ben has faced the worst life could throw at him and he is ready to end everything. He needs to make a plan and leave this life cleanly. A prayer first. His prayer is answered un the strangest way, by a beautiful newcomer to town, Summer. Summer is in town to watch her aunt's flower shop for a few months. She finished college and cannot decide what she will do or go next. Ben must learn to break out of his cycle of despair and Summer must decide where she wants to go in life. I love that Ben recognizes his life is being touched, even though it is difficult to change his behavior.

This is an inspirational romance - 1st in the First Street Church series set in the fictional small town of Sweet Grove, TX. The simple plot brings together Ben Davis and Summer Smith with the help of divine intervention. The author does an admirable job in this book exploring the depths of depression experienced by Ben and his mother.

Summer has just finished college but doesn't know what she wants to do so she goes to Texas to run her aunt's flower shop while the aunt takes a long awaited vacation. Ben is very discouraged and plans to end his life after his brother shoots himself in the face in the town square and his mother descends into alcoholism. He had plans for his life and college scholarship but must put it all on hold to care for his mom. He and his mom meet Summer and slowly the lives of all three are changed. I liked how God's plan takes place in the story even though they resist because they believe it isn't possible. I received the book free in exchange for an honest review.

Another awesome book by Melissa Storm. I found this to be a refreshingly real story about struggles we all face to some degree. I have been depressed, although I never reached the point of contemplating suicide like Ben does in this book I could identify well with many of his feelings. I have been at crossroads many times and found Summer and her frustrations with her indecision to be very relatable. I really enjoy the way the author is able to so much "real" into her characters, they aren't just idealistic fluff like many authors create. Thank you for another beautiful story about how hard life can be and for the inspiration to make a decision, pray for guidance, clarity and faith, and then jump into action. I needed that today.

LOVE'S. PRAYER. by Melissa Storm, the first in her new series First Street Church. We meet Ben who is angry that his older brother killed himself. Leaving a mother, despondent, the bottle, mortgage, bills, five years later, it hadn't changed. The town seemed to pity him now, and it's always one dark day after another. Summer, after college now what, never been attracted to anything. Goes to run her aunt's flower shop, while she is gone. Two people struggling to fit in, find how much they need one another. To learn, that they hold the reins, and to make decisions, for a better life. Strong story of people who are struggling in life, with themselves, GOD, and facing everyday life. Well done Melissa, looking forward to the next in the series. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion,

I found the beginning very depressing and almost stopped reading it. The talk of suicide really disturbed me. I'm glad I didn't stop because it got better by the third chapter and I really enjoyed reading it. It was inspiring the way Ben turned to God, and instead of giving up on life, he was able to turn his life around. I liked the romance between Ben and Summer. It was nice the way the people in the small town helped and supported each other. I really enjoy reading wholesome and inspiring books like this and plan to read more from this series.

I thought the relationship between Summer and Ben was a bit of a stretch to begin with, but once I warmed up to their story I really liked it. I loved how their inner turmoil about their individual futures seemed to be something many people could relate to, even if the reader's own situation was not exactly the same. Feeling unsure of where to go in the next chapter of our life, or feeling ashamed of our family and/or where we came from are raw, real feelings that many people feel, but don't like talking about. I would recommend this sweet romance to anyone who enjoys a happy ending.

This book is a lovely story full of hope and love. Even when you are depressed, drowning in alcohol or suicidal, sometimes all it takes is one person to make everything right again. Once again a winner. I love all the characters in Love's Prayer. It shows how desperate and hopeless a person can feel. But if we pray and have faith, everything can work out. I love the support all the characters, give Ben and Summer. Only if you have felt as desperate as Ben. Can you know how accurate his feelings are portrayed. I love this book, and you will also. Just wait until you get to the end. You will love it.

This book was poignant and discusses discusses several intense topics (suicide, alcoholism, addiction, and making big changes). The way faith is used is very appropriate and fluid. It does not feel forced and adds an additional depth to the characters and their struggles. I adored the afterword! A sweet romance with Christian values that beautifully tackles some tough issues. I will definitely be reading more from this author and in this series. Even though it has christian values, I think this book can be enjoyed by anyone who likes a little romance and who has been searching for a deeper meaning.

The first book in the First Street Church Series was a good read.I found the plot well thought out, the characters were well developed, and it had a well wrapped up ending.

The main character, Ben Davis, is going through the most difficult time of his life. He hasn't recovered from his brothers suicide, had to put his college on hold, and is dealing with a mother who is drowning her sorrows in a bottle of alcohol. He is feeling like he should end his life. He finally cries out to God for help. In enters his answer to prayer, Summer Smith. She is in town for the summer to take over her aunt Ida's flower shop while she is gone on a cruise. She knows nothing about running a flower shop and struggles with day to day operation.

In the town of Sweet Grove, she finds friendship, caring, and love. Ben & Summer struggle through real life issues that I could relate to. The book left me running the gamut of feelings from sadness to joy, but in the end made me feel satisfied and uplifted. I really enjoyed the journey.

"Love's Prayer" by Melissa Storm

What a wonderful, moving, and sweet novel. Melissa Storm uses her ability to make her characters come alive in order to tell their story.

"Love's Prayer" is a truly special novel. The power of prayer comes alive in this novel, as does the power of friendship, family dynamics, addiction, life choices and many other topics. The novel truly comes alive via the characters who are funny, witty, honest, enjoyable, and relatable.

I highly recommend this novel

Thanks Melissa for the copy of this book!

Love's prayer. Ben struggles with depression. He thinks of taking his life everyday. Even though he's not much of a believer, he sends a prayer up in a last ditch effort.

Summer agrees to run her aunt's flower shop for the summer. Wanting to use the time spent in Sweet Grove to figure out what to do with her life, Summer finds herself gave to face with Ben.

Can these two strangers be what the other needs?

Love's Prayer is the first installment in the First Street Church Romances by Melissa Storm and is a sweet romance with some dramatic twist. What a lovely read that was very engaging read. This is one of the best clean reads that I have been able to get into and just lose myself in. It was so nice to read and follow as the characters are falling in love. I cant wait to read more in this series.

I usually do not write reviews, but this book was very good. It dealt with the difficulties of alcoholism, suicide and longing for love and acceptance. I totally enjoyed the book and the way the author presented it. It was a sweet romance, a town coming together to help it's own, and a great portrait of answered prayer.

Thanks, Melissa for a great book.

This book addressed very real problems of suicide, alcoholism, and depression. Each person had to face their own demons and depend on faith and the help of friends to pull them through. So glad for Ben to find his future with Summer.

A very good book about love, life, challenges and Gods' word. You can do anything with prayer and God does listen, just like he did in the story. The storyline and characters were well written and I really enjoyed this book. Gives you hope.

A sweet clean story about having faith and finding your way as well as finding and committing to love. Melissa Storm writes about faith and seeking Gods will without preaching, weaving that into a good story.

The main male character struggles with how his life is going since a family tragedy that happened years ago changed the course he had planned for his life. This book is about how he turns to God in his darkest hour and how it transforms his life.
