This book is a great start to a new series. The main characters show a lot of promise, and their growing love was for each other was very sweet, but not in a romance novel kind of way. The magic hopefully will be better explained in the future books. Although the plot line is similar to other books, I enjoyed the read and couldn't put it down until I reached the end. Looking forward to the next book.

i read a lot of fluff with my kindle unlimited, so I'm always thrilled when something more substantive comes along and this is one of those times.
A believable world with another iteration on magic and two characters that breathe life into the pages. i am now about cto embark on the second book in the series, and I can't wait to dive in.

This is really probably 4.5 stars. I personally loved the overall plot, the characters, and the magical history; it was refreshing for me in such a genre as this. However, I feel the execution was convoluted. Some information was given piecemeal and left you confused in trying to put the points together and the whole insta-love thing wasn't my jam. It didn't occur very coherently. That being said, I really look forward to book 2!

Let's start with embarrassing fact, I didn't finish the book. So sad to think I was so exited and pleased when I started, but halfway there I just could not take it anymore. As world and plot were simple the characters must carry but it was like watching cute silly lambs going to slaughter and not for some noble and save-the-world reason, no, they are just so in love...Personally I don't think attraction=love and acting stupid is romantic. Maybe it is meant to be like a story of growing wise and powerful trough love and suffering and be epic because they are really naive in the beginning ?! If so it would be better to not have them have powerful magic and amazing fighting skills or any survival skill, be honestly lv 1, not lv 20 with weird "made stupid by love effect".

I really like this book! The protagonist is one fighting against those that control her while the intended victim is a man of honor and strength. The love story depicted is believable and compelling. Reading the story in one go, I find myself looking forward to the sequal.

If you like magic then you will find this a fun read.
Going to read the next one and on as long as they remain fun.
The good thing is that it is written for all audiences without the heavy sex and language some authors seem to rely upon. Instead the story is good and there is a distinct good v bad flavor.
Highly recommended!

I haven't finished this, as I put it down in disgust for the second time.

The characters are bland, unrealistic, and lack any depth or individuality. The world building is mediocre at best and the premise is pretty crap.
It reads like the author came up with a beginning and an ending she liked and just pushed really hard to make things work when they shouldn't. Just bad storytelling.
Thank goodness it was free.

I really enjoyed the book and I am looking forward to the next book. The pace was very good. I selected this with kindle unlimited and I am very happy I did. I would buy the series and I definitely don't say that very often. I really enjoyed the premise and the author did a wonderful job with the characters . I can't wait to read the next book! I wish it was out already.

This was a great book. I stayed up all night to finish it and I still want more. I can't wait for the next book.
I really liked both characters but the Prince acted more like a kid being kidnapped than a man. I know he liked her but he didn't try anything. So apart from the Princes' character being the complete opposite of what he is described as,I really recommend this book. It was not what I expected.

I certainly thought Mage Slave was a well written novel. I loved the characters of Prince Aven and Miara, the mage slave. I also enjoyed the Romantic elements that build up. It does flow a bit roughly at times but all in all, I thought it was entertaining and I'm looking forward to the next book in the Enslaved Chronicles series.

It started off slowly. I thought the H was too naive but that was because of his exposure...to not much. I began to enjoy it when h started using her magic. She was able to craft some creative devices. I began to see the H as noble and having integrity. I enjoyed the ending quite a bit. Off to the next one!

I read Mage Slave on KU, but it is on my "to buy" list. Although I am not a fan of multiple points of view, I thoroughly enjoyed this story and look forward to the next book. Miara and Aven are engaging characters, the plot easily held my attention, and I cheered for the kidnapped prince.

Was about to stop reading because really didn't like main characters. I thought it was going to be whiny prince meets streetwise girl who makes him a good king. I was wrong. Characters developed slowly to show their true nature. I hope next book has more of his mother in it. I like how demure she was but is actually quite a force of nature in her own right. All in all good read and will read next installment.

This is a love story. A quiet little story surrounded but magic, mages, and two lovers who are both trapped. One by loving parents and the other by misguided, evil mages with their king. These two protagonist are fit for one another. Polar opposites which leads to misadventures when one is kidnapped by the other. This was a good afternoon pleasant read.

Overall, it was a good book. I enjoyed reading it. It did not capture my attention as fully as other books. The character development was interesting. The way the author switched back and forth between characters was different then what I was used to.

This book is more of a 4.5 . Moderately paced, so I didn't get bored but it did take me longer than the norm to finish it. But, I did finish it, and I am so happy that I did. The 2 leading characters were interesting and believable enough. Their selflessness was a breath of fresh air. Overall, a GREAT in-between books book. It won't be a waist of your time.

Great book! Excellent action, romance, and adventure! Can't wait until the next one comes out. Such a shame there are only six reviews as I write this. Hope more people pick this one up! Thanks R.K. Thorne!

The novel has great character development and has some suggestions of darker aspects without being overly dark and depressing. The plot is not overly complicated but still good. It was a novel that left me satisfied and happy. I definitely recommend this book.

Great read. Great story. The only problem is I need the next book! I have read a lot of fantasy despite its sometimes repetitive nature looking for books like this. Some just have the combination of elements that work. They say something important to us. Something important about us. Thank you for your effort Mrs (Ms?) Thorne.

Well written, engaging story. I couldn't wait to read the second book. I'm always happy and delighted to find a new fantasy author who knows how to grab their audience and tell a story with suspense, without having to resort to killing all of the most likable characters. Love that this isn't a total cliffhanger, but still leaves you wanting more.

This book was incredibly frustrating to read. The author values the romance more than any other element in the book. Every other chapter the main character was chiding himself for not making the smart decision, yet he kept making unintelligent decisions for the entire book. The lowest moment was toward the end of their journey when he actually helped fight his rescuers.

3 stars for the excellent world building.

This was a fun book. High fantasy and adventure galore. I enjoyed the premise, too, although it never struck me as the most unique thing ever, which is why I gave it four instead of five stars. If you like fantasy, adventure, good triumphing over evil, and maybe a little romance, this book is for you. Be aware that one of the main characters seems bizarrely calm and cheerful for a lot of it, though.

Honestly, I didn't know if I really wanted to read this book because the description didn't really call to me and I've been disappointed lately with several books that I've read.

However, once I started, I couldn't put it down. The characters are believable and you can FEEL their emotions as if you we really there with them. My next move is to download the next book in the series and continue the adventure.

Good read!

What I liked: believeable characters who are well-developed, solid plot in a descriptive world
What I didn't like: ending was incomplete (to me) so I have to read the next book, chemistry between characters felt a bit meh

This was a fast paced and action packed fantasy novel. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline was quite creative. Which is pretty rare in this genre. I also appreciate this being offered as a kindleunlimited. I'll continue on with this series.

Well written, no editing glitches for once. An adult book. A love story. Fantasy, magic, family. Very am written. I had to finish it, even though I had a lot of other things that needed doing. One of the best books I have read in quite a while.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm a very casual reader of fantasy. This is only my second fantasy series. I have no idea if this is how mage magic is supposed to work, but it's fiction anyway, right?
Anyway, I loved the romantic tension and the action. Very well paced, none of the chapters seemed to drag nor did they proceed at a ridiculous speed. I am actually going to start on book two right now!

Wow. I began reading with a touch of skepticism since it was a new author and I figured half the reviews were done by friends and relatives. My critical nature soon have way to the beauty of the story. Well written, plausible and consistent fantasy, with the perfect dash of romance. I look forward to reading more by you, RK Thorne, in the future.

The world building will sucked you right in. The characters were well rounded and the love between the to main characters built slowly enough to be believable. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

This was good from page one. Miara was a mage enslaved to dark masters. She was given a task to kidnap the PRI CE in a neighboring country. Once she succeeds in kidnapping prince Aven its their journey that is the gem of this story. You slowly learn and love both of them. You learn their world and their magic. It is going to be an epic series. Book two needs to be out soon. Loved this book.

I liked the way this was written....good story, memorable likeable characters. Doesn't need viscous bloody fight scenes and raunchy sexual escapades. Is able to deliver an entertaining read without it. Good for you ?.

I would recommend fewer jumps from character to character and some better editing. Honestly I normally don't write reviews but the plot had so much going for it yet was a huge letdown that I had to say something. If only it was written by someone else.

I chose 4 stars because I like the premise of the story. I enjoyed reading it very much. I think the characters could have been fleshed out more but that's my preference not anything against the story.

Good story line, good story development, great character development, nice concept with magic and use of their magic. Nice to see that they tried to be creative with what they have instead of just accepting their limits
