Twentysomething American Female reminisces about her hard-drinking first months living as an expat in Paris. Not really amusing or interesting. At least the French words are spelled correctly. Probably OK if you like that kind of thing. What a great look into the fun a young woman from the USA has when she decides to live in Paris. Everything she wrote was very believable and I enjoyed every page. I felt like I was reading a friend's mail. This was well written and fun to read! I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review.

Fun read for anyone who likes to drink a bit too much and have an adventure by foot (no zip lining or surfing). I have never been to Paris , but was an exchange student in Budapest and I bonded with her first stories of assimilation. And I love the plot.

I lived in Paris for a year and loved reminiscing through Vicki's book. I, too, like to think of myself as a party girl. Okay - I'm now much more of a stay-home-and-drink-wine-while-watching-Netflix kind of girl, but in my twenties and in Paris I liked to party. The stories were light, funny, and I appreciate the fact that the stories were true tales.

Funny memoir that reads like chick lit. I found myself laughing out loud several times. Really enjoyed Lesage's stories about life in Paris. She's funny, she's real, and she almost feels like my new friend after reading this! I received this book from the author in exchange for a fair review.

Paris is a wonderful city even from French people. We like the city… as tourists. But working there is almost a must do for fresh out of school people and not everyone enjoy it. As a majority of parisians do not come from the city, we also think that the overall impression is not good, to be polite.

We speak the language, doesn't have any cultural difference, we have the right paper… and on the days to day life, a lot of steps are still very annoying. I always ask myself how foreign people survive in the city.

So I read Vicki's piece of art. And I laugh. A lot.

Vicki is a very expressive and living people, so even the slightest details that every normal people will let go is lived plainfully and it's fun. No spoiler given, but read it.

I don't know if after "Confessions of a Paris Party Girl", all the other pretty young girls interested by Paris will finish in London or will drink all the baby vine bottle of Montmartre and finish drunk hitting on French guys ;).

A fun page turner of a read about a young expat getting her life set up in Paris. The book is both lighthearted and informative of all the hoops (and hoopla) that inevitably comes in to creating a life in France, and specifically Paris, with all of its "ooh la la!" Recommended for anyone looking for a humorous view into the creation of a Parisian exitstence.

I had so much fun reading this book. I laughed out loud, and had to put the Kindle down at times as I imagined her Paris in all of its beauty and bureaucracy. It's a great book that I felt was an "Eat, Pray, Love" meets "Breathless: An American in Paris."

Vicki, a single 20-something freelance web designer, moves to Paris for the adventure of it all. Reading of her trials and tribulations, growing love of Paris, and hilarious adventures was sheer joy. The fact that it turned into a non-cheesy, fun love story only added to its charm. This book often made me laugh out loud and put a smile on my face throughout - I loved it! Can't wait to read more from this fun author.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Confessions of a Paris Party Girl. I found myself agreeing with Vicki on her delightful descriptions of how the everyday adjustments of living in Paris can either make your crazy with frustration or ache from laughter. Hopefully its mostly the latter and I was able to laugh off some of my own frustrating moments... thinking "what would Vicki say?" If you ever dream of moving to Paris, as I do, this is a good book to read to get the inside scoop on the good, the bad and the ugly. Its all here, and thankfully, its mostly good which makes it all worth it.

This author will charm you as she takes you with her as she moves to Paris. Her trials in finding an apartment, friends, a job and a boyfriend are written in a numerous style that will make you laugh out loud. I didn't want the book to end!

I was seduced by the number of reviews this book got. Yowza!
And right into the first few pages I said: ‘Aargh!’ Footnotes. To quote the author: Way out of place in this not so awesome book. Ahem!
I see that her next book also features numerous footnotes. It is very ok not to read reviews of your own books but that rule does not apply here. Some of the negative reviews do contain reasonable suggestions that, if applied, would maybe perhaps improve the book. The quality of writing is infantile with many sideshows about cars, drinking buddies not in Paris, Brazil and unfunny diatribes against French bureaucracy. This book wants to be funny if not humorous but fails to entice even a chuckle. In essence this is a book about drinks, vomiting and hangovers. A humongous waste of time.
I received a free copy of this book so that I could review it.

Laughs are had on each page in Vicki Lesage's lively story of arriving, adapting and partying in France. Her humor shines through brightly and I could imagine being right there with her at the bar of the Long Hop or the Swedish club. Many Paris memoirs take a serious or dreamy approach, I liked that Vicki's was different, not critical, but honest and light-hearted, making her tale accessible for people who don't know France and enjoyable for expats who've gone through similar scenarios.

She might have started a whole new generation of Paris Party Girls! Watch out Paris! Cheers!

As an expat myself, I could relate to Vicki's escapades in Paris. I found myself nodding along with her (unfortunately for her) in depth, intimate knowledge of the bureaucracy of France (I experience the same in Greece) where it seems they make rules for rules, and make things up for the sake of it!
I felt as if I was with Vicki all the way - and can't wait for her next book so I can see how this American in Paris has faired.

I fell in love with Vicki and her strong voice, as in her strong writing voice. She is there with you all the way through and honestly, I couldn't stop reading it until I was through. Now here I am online looking for more Vickie Lesage! About to head over to [...] to see what else I can learn about this hilarious, charming, witty, "Paris party girl"!

Vicki's honest account of her experience acclimating to life in Paris was something I could relate to as an American who has also lived in France. I admire her drive to stick it out through the ups and downs, and congratulate her on her marriage to a Frenchman. Félicitations et bon courage pour la suite!

I do not have time to read much and I was shocked that I could not put this book down. I think I read it in three nights which is incredible for me. I loved how she came to Paris by herself (unbelievable), met her love, had a family, etc. etc. Vicki adds a humor to her journey that keeps you entertained and curious what is next. I would highly recommend it and I would like a follow up version after she had Leonardo.

Will you like Parisians more after reading it: probably not but at least, you will learn to laugh at their behaviour and that's the charme of it :)
Vicki will tell you about her story and you will feel like being part of it...

I'd read Vicki's Christmas Confessions book first and couldn't wait to go back and read her memoirs, starting with this one. Like my first experience with Vicki's writing, her style is so warm and bubbly, you can't help but get caught up in the story. And oh how I laughed - as an expat in France myself, there is so much I could relate to - but Vicki's style is unique, never overlabouring the point and keeping you wanting to read on. As soon as I'd finished this one, I went straight onto the Potty Trainer in Paris memoir.

I really enjoyed this memoir for several reasons. First of all, it was hilarious – the adventures themselves as well as Vicki Lesage’s way of describing them. I found myself laughing out loud more times than I could count. And that brings me to my second reason for liking this book. Reading it is like having a conversation with a good friend. Lesage is a natural storyteller. Her style is unpretentious, and the pace of this memoir is just right. I also like the fact that the author explains how she found her first Paris apartment, how she was able to support herself when she first moved to the city etc. She presents living in Paris as it really is, with the good and the bad. I prefer this realism to a sugar-coated version of Parisian life. This real picture of Paris is much more interesting! (And it’s useful for those readers who dream of following in Lesage’s footsteps.) I don’t want to give any spoilers so I won’t tell you about my favorite moments, but I will say that whether you have experienced life in Paris or not, the author’s stories will have you laughing.
