No issues with the writing or characters but I wouldn't call this a story. It's a prolog of character development. Period. I am not a fan of authors selling books through the incomplete storyline guised as a "prequel". I won't be taking the bait.

If this is a prequel, I can’t wait to read more! Form page one Ward has you hooked. Danny and Anne’s attraction for one another is palpable. Each one of the characters you meet, make you feel like you’re part of the story. Can’t wait for the full book that follows.

Amazing how in just a few pages she paints such a vivid picture and makes me completely invested in the couple. I like them and I want to know more about them and I can’t wait for them to get together.

If this wasn't written by J.R. Ward, I would not have been so harsh. This was boring. plain and simple. The writing not up to MY standards of Ward. Thankfully it was short. I just checked on Consumed.. $12.99 for kindle.. I will not be reading this series.
Maybe I'll just go and re-read BDB... but only till book 12.. after that, I think Ward lost her passion.

Maybe it could have been part of the book? I was just starting to read when I realized, I already finished. Then again Ward writes in a way that makes you forget you're reading. Entertaining, as usual!

REVIEW: 4.5 stars-THE WEDDING FROM HELL Part 1: The Rehearsal Dinner is the introductory novella in JR Ward’s contemporary, adult FIREFIGHTERS series focusing on the men and women who work and breathe at the 499 firehouse in New Brunswick, Massachusetts. This is fire fighters Anne Ashburn, and Danny Maguire’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Anne and Danny) THE WEDDING FROM HELL, Part 1: The Rehearsal Dinner reveals the friendships and camaraderie between the member of the 499, as well as the building sexual tension between fire fighters Anne Ashburn, and Danny Maguire. With the impending wedding of fellow fighter Robert ‘Moose’ Miller to his bridezilla Deandra Cox, the members of the 499 embark on a night of fun that spirals out of control when a very inebriated groom disappears, and Anne and Danny find themselves involved in a knife fight between a pimp, a prostitute and the man that she loves. As the palpable sexual tension continues to grow between Anne and Danny, Danny’s past pushes at something more.

THE WEDDING FROM HELL, Part 1: The Rehearsal Dinner is a very quick read; a short, revealing and intriguing novella that introduces the men and women of the 499. A strong start to what promises to be another fantastic series by the amazing JR Ward.

Wow... this part 1 did not disappoint! Instead it left me wanting more. I loved the chemistry between Anne and Danny. For those who have read the BDB books, their chemistry reminds me of the heat from Wrath and Beth at the beginning. I have pre-ordered part 2, part 3 and Consumed! Cant wait to get more from this smoking hot couple!

This quick read is setting up the full length book that's coming soon about fire fighters . Anne and Danny work together and this novella is about the days leading up to a friends wedding. The chemistry is there for all to see but buttoned up Anne has no wish to become another notch on the bed post of always foot loose Danny or does she ?
If you've enjoyed this authors paranormal stories then you will be very happy to hear that these new characters seem just as strong and in touch with life around them . I enjoyed the dialogue, the camaraderie and also the basic premise much more than I expected as I'm not a huge lover of contemporary romance. Yes I would happily read more and now realise that I should have trusted this author to give me interesting characters and a story that's entertaining.

The plot is interesting but why split a prequel into 3 parts?
Having a female character working as a firefighter is a tremendous thing, but the reader already knows that she will not continue because of something very bad that will happen to her.
Zero connection.
2 stars.

The first of a three part novella preparing our way to J.R.Wards next book, Consumed coming out in October 2018.

After reading only this first book, I'm eager to continue on. The banter between Anne and Danny swing from funny to heated and everything in between. Not to mention Moose and his soon to be bride....YIKES! What is going on in that mans brain? That woman is scary ....as in you know something bad is about to happen in a horror movie scary, yet you can't stop watching or in this case reading on.

With the wedding from Hell coming soon we have a lot to look forward to in the coming books. Will Moose go through with it? Will Anne and Danny hook up and still be able to work together? What about the bride? I can't even go there. So with this said, I will be placing my preorder for Consumed along with waiting to get the second book in this series tomorrow. This is one of those rare authors that just doesn't seem to have a bad book in her.

Funny, sexy with a great cast of characters. I can't get enough.

The Wedding from Hell, part 1 is a novella, an introduction to J.R. Wards new series.
Part 1 is Moose and Deandra's bachelor/bridesmaids parties and wedding rehearsal.
This first intro is funny, and gives insight into Danny and Anne who are both firefighters. They are partners that are fighting the off the charts chemistry between them.

Nothing like a sexy firefighter who is confident in himself in all ways except the girl he's falling for... Stumbling over himself when he finally recognizes that she sees him for more than just another brother at the station and the indecision in her eyes drives him to take a harder look at his own feelings. Omg, J.R. Ward sure knows her stuff and I can't wait to read this book! EEEEKK!

Love everything from this author, can't get enough of her stores. The strong woman in her stores make you want to be that woman. Recommend anyone that like firefighters or just hot men to read this book or other books she has written will make your toes curl for sure.

The Rehearsal Dinner (The Wedding From Hell Part #1) is part of the Firefighters series. It is a prequel to Consumed.

This e-book is free on the store .com.

This prequel is set prior to Consumed. It introduces readers to Anne and Danny (the main characters from that book). The story is set in New Brunswick, a city about 45 minutes from Boston.

Anne and Danny are firefighters. Danny's best friend Moose (also a firefighter) is getting married to Deandra. The rehearsal dinner is featured in this first prequel. This rehearsal dinner and wedding are referenced a fair amount in Consumed.

These prequels (parts 1 and 2) are set before Consumed. And they are meant to be read first. However, I had heard that there was a part to these prequels that might spoil something in Consumed. So I decided to read Consumed first.

For people who dislike spoilers (like me) there is definitely something that happens in the prequels that will spoil something in Consumed. There is something that Danny is involved in that Anne does not know about. It is quite suspenseful in Consumed. So the suspense would definitely be ruined. So I guess it's up to each individual reader to decide if they want to read the prequels first.

Overall, this was a good introduction to the characters in Consumed.

This is prequel number one and we are with Danny and Anne. This is the beginning of their attraction towards each other. These two, along with all the other firefighters, are amazing characters. I just can’t figure out why Moose is with Deandra.

I'm a HUGE fan Of the BDB.
Didn't really care for the Bourbon King Series.
Enjoyed some of her contemporary books, too.
I think I'm going to love this new series.
Great cast of Characters, awesome story line and all by one of my very favorite authors.
Can't wait to read the rest.
Happy Reading:)

Let’s just say, not my cup of tea. For a short book it was hard for me to read. I don’t like the back ground characters. I found the situations to annoying to have to read about & I can totally see where this is going. I found it all just boring.

This is just enough "book" to tease you wanting to reading more. I liked most characters but I also disliked some! Nice introduction of a new romance. Not sure it was enough to read on though. This short introduction didn't grab me like this author's BDB series. Now those books not only grabbed you immediately but threw you into one of my best loved series to this day. Holy hotness!!! This book mehh!

This is a small taste of what is to come, prequel to the upcoming new series from the amazing JR Ward. Move over vampires.... the firefighters are here. Exciting part one you get a peak of the firefighters from the 499 firehouse and their friends and families. The central characteres are Anne Ashburn, from a family of firefights and a no nonsense woman the is just one of the guys. Love the tux on her. Dannyboy Maguire has it for Anne, he loves her no nonsense, true to herself attitude. great beginning, (less)
