FYI...this is not what I would consider a clean romance, in case that is what you are looking for. The writing was not terrible, but I was turned off by the lead male character who was attracted to the lead female because she likes adrenaline rushes and writes kind of smutty fiction....just seems shallow to me.

This is the story of Amelia and Nicholas. It is the first book in the Bluestocking Brides series.
Lady Jersey is no fan of the Chadwick girls. She thinks that no eligible single man would want to marry a bluestocking, especially one of the sisters.
Amelia writes under a pen-name as a author. She tends to land in hot water when she doesn't think about what she is writing. Amelia is trying to get over her love for Lord Nicholas Wentworth. She cannot admit her affection for him out loud, especially when he is in love with her married sister.
Her sisters talk her into writing about her one-sided love in order to get over it. Amelia spends many hours writing about Nicholas. She never expects that Nicholas will end up with the information she has written. When the letters come into Nicholas' hands, Amelia must find a way to get them back. Her predicament and her pen-name depend on it. If the wicked stories that she writes under her pen name- A. Hardwick- come out, the truth in them could bring down all the Chadwick girls.
I enjoyed this funny and sweet romantic novella. It is engaging and I love the connection that the sisters share.

Amelia and the Viscount by Samantha Holt is awesome! As soon as I started this book I could not put it down. Amelia and her sisters are known as blue stockings, which means they are too focused on their own interests to make good wives. They are shunned from most society because of this but they prefer it like that so they can pursue their passions. Amelia loves to read and write her own scandalous stories, and in an effort to rid herself of her crush on the Viscount she writes him letters detailing her desire for him (never intending they actually be sent). But when they are sent to him Amelia and her sisters must find a way to get them back before he reads them and realises Amelia’s feelings for him.
I was so taken with this book that I devoured it in one sitting and immediately started reading the rest of the blue stocking series, which I am highly enjoying! They are long enough that it doesn’t feel crammed in like in a novella, but are short enough that they are perfect for the weekend or the holidays. This is a must read!

This is my first time reading anything by this author, and definitely one of the first books I have ever read in historical romance. Having said that, I really enjoyed this story. I thought it would fall short because it was so short but I was wrong.
I loved Amelia, I thought she was ballsy and charming. Nicolas was kind of irritating at first but I get it. He had to be, you had to slowly fall for his character. Which I definitely did.
There where some scenes that made me chuckle, and some scenes that made me swoon. I absolutely loved Amelia and Nicolas together, I thought they had great banter and chemistry. Her relationship with her sisters made me howl with laughter once or twice, the way they spoke to each other reminds me of how I speak with my sisters sometimes.
Really great novel.

The story was far too short and felt rushed. It didn't feel real to life how Nicholas in an instant fell out of love with the sister and fell in love with Amelia. It also defied logic and reality that Amelia didn't just write letters to him, which i can see a girl doing, but she actually put Nicholas' address on them then left them out to be picked up by a servant and put in the post. If that's not bad enough, I'm sorry but a laundry maid is strictly a downstairs servant and wouldn't be the one to pick up mail in a person's bedroom. I think this author shows some promise if she can flesh out her stories better and not rely on ridiculous premises for her stories.

Very simple, sweet, and easy. I know it was only a novella so you can't really expect a very detailed book. I think it was a little ridiculous how fast the hero fell in love and how his love for the main character's sister was fickle but his love for the main character was real based on a look of excitement she had in her eyes after a dangerous situation. Yep. I'm sure that is a love meant to last.....
Thankfully I only spent $0.99

This was a sweet and short story. Amelia and her sisters are all a little too clever and forward thinking for the ton of way back when. To make matters worse Amelia writes books that are quite scandalous. She's only had love for one man. But he had eyes for her little sister until she married someone else. Now he chases a pen doing the paperwork for his estate. Occasionally he gets outside to chase thrills. He wants someone who can match his fire and desire for the thrill.
I liked this story. I loved the relationship between Amelia and her sisters. I felt like Nicholas was a tad fickle but hey, it all worked out in the end.

The story is well written but moves at an excruciatingly fast pace. I mean the male lead has obviously been pinning away for the heroine's sister. To remove that in like two moments means that his love for Amelia might not be all that stable. I feel like yes he should find her interesting and tempting but not full blown love by chapter 10 when he admits to her face a few chapters before that he had never really noticed her before. It has great potential, but maybe hitting the breaks a little would have been preferable to bring about a true love story

Amelia and The Viscount by Samantha Holt is a historical Romance that is a super fast read. The book really flew fast. It seemed that I blinked and it was done. I liked the characters and I liked the story itself. Overall the writing is good. I really liked that Amelia was a scandalous writer. And how she devoted hours to writing and trying to hide it.
I grew to like Lord Nicholas too and I especially liked that he just kind of did what he wanted. Anyway I enjoyed the story and would recommend it. I would rate 4 stars.

Amelia and The Viscount (Blue Stocking Brides Book One) By Samantha Holt, is a cute and fun romance featuring very independent and strong leading female characters. I loved this book and that it was a romance novel without having the physical scenes sometimes they detract from the storyline. I loved all of the sisters in this book and how unique the all are. I am going to have to read each of their stories as this one has me drawn into the series already. This is my first book by Samantha Holt and it won't be my last.

A bit more angst than necessary and a large lack of depth for the characters. There is a plot, but it is shallow. I don't see this one as something I could recommend. Even at $.99, you still have to spend time reading it.

I am looking forward to reading about the rest of the Chadwick sisters. Anyone who likes Maggie Fenton's books will also like Sarah Holt. Her characters are strong, distinctive, and interesting. Her writing style is funny and fast-paced. I look forward to reading full length novels by her.

Book was ok, I feel like there could have been a lot more to it but it was very short & ended abruptly in my opinion. Says I am only 53% but I'm at the end of the book confused & disappointed.

Everything just moved to fast, I also felt like I missed something. It just bounced from one thing to the next. I think the book would've been amazing, but I feel like I wanted more development of characters and their relationships.

If you're looking for a quick, engaging read that is at times funny and sweet and at times deliciously hot you've come to the right place. Amelia has been pinning for Nicholas forever, even when he only had eyes for her sister. A mix up with some letters she wrote to him, but never meant to send, and a runaway horse that leaves the pair soaking wet and high on adrenaline reveals her long hidden crush and awakens Nicholas' own desire for her. I'm already looking forward to the next bluestocking novella!

As a victim of bullying myself from the age of 12 to 15, I understand the heartbreak Amelia endured. Although no one should have to go through this, all to often this happens. Not only does it cause the victim to experience a great deal of fear, but also undermines their self confidence. I love to read about people who overcome this and in the end find true happiness. It took me a long time, but with God's help I now have confidence in myself. A wonderful theme for a novel.

Amelia was a fun character! I loved that she was a secret scandalous writer- I do think her pen name lacked creativity especially since she wrote such creative stories. However, it was a fun novella!

This set of sisters are wonderfully unconventional for their era. The Viscount learned the value of seeing people as they are, instead of what others see. Well done on this one. I await the rest of the Sisters stories.

I wish this had been longer so we could have seen more conversations between them. It was already the next to last chapter when the characters realized they were in love. I realize it's just a novella so I shouldn't have expected more.

Quick, pleasant read. I'd give it 5 stars, except there were a few issues. For one, (spoiler alert) he proposes directly to her. No asking her father, or anything. Their relationship also seemed a little...forced. I don't quite buy into her adventurous spirit

A wondrous, delightful tale of love and romance in the Regency era. At a time when a woman was not to share her intelligence with the world for fear of being thought less womanly, this young lady has quite the adventure.

I think like other reviewers said the way hero suddenly realized he was in love with Amelia seemed so unrealistic. It did have its moments though -spoiler- & I loved his response to Amelia's letter.
I was interested though in the rest of the sisters, particularly Catherine. So I might pick up the rest of the series. Overall it was just an okay read but super quick & an easy read.

This had no story development. It was simplistic and rushed. I found that it was difficult, if not impossible, to be excited 4 the main characters getting together. Very frustrating and dissapointing. Note: editing errors throughout book.

This was a fun, quick read & a good introduction to a new series. It was sometimes funny, sometimes sweet & sometimes spicy & Amelia & Nicholas were a great couple. I highly recommend this read & can't wait until Book 2!

The sisters in this book had different taste in adventure. But one thing is for sure they love each other. Each sister went out of her way to support the other sister. Sit back and enjoy he passion that one red head sister gets.

This was such a fun and romantic story and I enjoyed every minute of it. When Nicolas finally noticed Amelia and realized she was the woman for him was just a wonderful moment. Highly recommend this book!

I enjoyed "Amelia and the Viscount". It was very nicely done with such style in storyline characters.. The relationship between her sisters was heartbreaking and funny at the same time. Nicholas finally saw the light and the fun begins.

The plot was refreshing, the characters totally off the wall fun. Sisters who are standouts with diverse interest that the ton doesn’t like. The older sister trying to get over her long time crush through a series of mistakes receives her HEA.
Please RateAmelia and the Viscount (Bluestocking Brides Book 1)
In this first book of the Bluestocking Brides Series we meet Amelia Chadwick and Nicholas Wentword. Amelia is the oldest of the Chadwick sisters, The “responsible” one. Samantha Holt shows us that sometimes things and people are not always as they seem. Amelia may be the responsible Chadwick sister but she also has a side she hides from everyone, even herself. The relationship between the Chadwick sisters is just heartwarming.
Amelia is considered a “book nerd”, but she proves being a book nerd doesn’t mean one can’t have a wild, passionate side.
Lord Nicholas seems on the surface to be just another wild, irresponsible, young man. We learn that there is more to Nicholas than just what is on the surface.
Amelia has always been in love with Nicholas, whom before her sister got married everyone thought would marry her. “Amelia and the Viscount” shows us that sometimes we have to just open our eyes to what’s right in front of us.
“Amelia and the Viscount” is well written, easy to follow, and keeps the moving. This book is so enjoyable it is over way to soon and leaves you wanting more. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
