Before deciding to purchase the book I read the good reviews and obviously the bad reviews.

Bad reviews talked about "nothing new"... This is the first book I ever read about this topic, and found it incredibly good. Not only the way Nick kolenda explains an specific point. But at the same time with a story or an example that makes you realice it is true..

I definately recommend this book, rather your looking for a first read I can tell you it is a must, if youre already a genious in this theme then I cant assure you anything, rather than if your looking to see what themes a book should have for someome who asks you to recommend their first book about persuasion of the minds, this is a really good one

I devoured this book! A lot of what he shared I tended to do naturally when talking with people. In sales I would wonder why I was so good but could never duplicate it with other people. This book has uncovered all the things I naturally do and given me the why behind what I do. Because of this book I'm able to duplicate my success with others by teaching them the core foundational strategies in this book.

This is a great book! (How does someone so young know so much?!) Kolenda has done a great job synthesizing knowledge from the fields of psychology and behavioral economics into an easy-to-read book that clearly tells readers how to apply that information to be significantly more persuasive. As a market researcher who advises marketers and advertisers, I feel that I need to re-read this book and commit it to memory!

I picked this book up because it was the first book that popped via my the store search for such book to meet a psychology class requirement. It was a smooth read. It both required me to be engaged but it was not so technicnal a read that the examples and text were flying over my head.
I even practiced a few of the examples given in the book and it was fun to find that this Nick character actually knows what he's talking about. Just messing around. Nick Kolenda put in a lot of time, effort and heart into this book and it showed. I laughed as much as I raised my eye brows as a result of "Oh wow, really?!" moments.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who's got an interest in the human mind. Pick it up, you won't be disappointment.

This book is a must read for anyone who is interested in decision science. Nick masterfully weaves in-depth research into actionable, easy to understand and engaging copy that I've not only used in my business but in my personal life as well. I read a lot of books and have read several on the psychology and neuroscience of decision making and this is by far the best!

I swear I have read these exact things elsewhere ... Oh yeah, because I have. Much of this book comes from Predictably Irrational and Influence, the Psychology of Persuasion; both of which are good books. This is not.

I like that Nick actually annotates the research to support his writing. Not many authors in the field of Persuasion or Interviewing are able to back their literature with actual research. As a polygraph examiner, I found his first chapters on priming, anchoring, schemas, and spreading activation very good, and relevant to the field of polygraph. I believe it is a must read for anyone interested in persuasion.

Having picked up this book out of curiosity....starting from the first chapter I had a smile on my face. Nick Kolenda is a brilliant author who makes readers feel like there getting a personal lesson on persuasion from him. He teaches us many useful tactics of persuasion that you will bring into your life for a price less then you spent to enjoy your last lunch. A very affordable $5 and the key to easily convincing others is yours.

I believe that selling involves techniques, woven into a formula or formulae, so to speak. I wasn't able get this from any of the many books I have bought until I found this book. The "method", for me, is precise and realistic. The examples used to reinforce what was shared are easy to relate to and I appreciated the explanations behind why the methods work...not to mention the fact that research material is provided. I'll have to re-read my notes again and put into practice. Looking forward to it!

This is a good book on persuasion tips. I'm in marketing and books like these are actually a pretty good read for me. SOme of the concepts are well documented but the author writes about them in a unique way that highlights how he's used them to good effect.

Somewhat hard to learn to apply - but the lessons are good. I enjoyed reading it. I'm a bit cerebral as a reader and this one keeps it simple. I could have used some more examples or help applying it.

Fabulous book. I underlined more in this book than any book I've ever read. Fascinating, well written. Probably one of the best reads of my life and I read alot.

The price point of the book means that everyone can (and should) read it.

I honestly never write the store reviews, and despite wither or not the book "persuaded me" into leaving a good review, this book was truly an eye opener with amazing layout.

The author is extremely passion about psychology and his book,
this is one book that you can definitely see the effort and brilliance of the author in abridging powerful concepts backed by tons and tons of research into one step by step book on how to see these concepts and use it in your daily life.

Read this book once and you'll have a new lens to see the world with.

This is not an academic book, however all the claims are backed up with studies and references. Easy to read heavy on application of this stuff in pour personal lives. One of the best books I have read on the personal application of psychology.

This is just not that good. The best information in it comes as a restatement of other works, and a lot of the author's observations or recommendations are a bit amateurish. Kolenda has talent. He just needs to work harder at providing meaningful insights.

Persuasion science skills,
they're part of my USP.
So I went to Nick's site
for a quick look-see.

After a quick look,
I downloaded his freebies.
They were so damn good,
I got the heebie-jeebies.

So I ordered from this site
called the store....
And after reading his book,
realized, "His claims weren't no con."

So to supercharge your life and even your career, I say...
"Take control of your future and order today."

Methods of Persuasion is a very well written book that can be understood by readers even whose first language isn't English. The language is simple and there isn't too many terminologies involved. The steps are well structured and practical.

As a person who is not a native speaker and doesn't have any psychology background, I felt I could almost fully comprehend the idea. It not only helps to improve persuasion by speaking, but also improves writings. For instance, I knew that the most important information should be put into the beginning and end of an essay, but didn't really understand why. The book just taught me the reasons (primacy effect and recency effect).

I highly recommend people who want to improve their social skills to read this book.

p.s. I bought the kindle version but now I think the paper version is a better choice because it is so practical and I refer back to different chapters often.

Much of the techniques taught in this book I learned intuitively from sales. But it was nice to have those techniques validated and supported with research. I also learned a few new things and was reminded of many I forgot. If you have reason to persuade people, you will be glad you red this book.

This is the second book on persuasion that I've read - it's well written and has excellent information. He gets to the point, uses humor - which we all like - right? : ) If this book were lunchmeat it would be natural with no fillers or preservatives. It would make a great gift - who doesn't want to know how to persuade people??

This book is a fantastic resource for people in marketing, sales, and advertising. Although Kolenda explains many of the principles using examples from marketing, I come from a non-marketing background and I still found them widely applicable.

The whole book is divided into seven parts, and each part is one step in the METHODS process. Each step contains several chapters, and each chapter explains an interesting psychological principle that can be used for persuasion. Kolenda explains the psychology and neuroscience behind that principle, and then he explains some specific ways to apply that principle. I found the whole book to be very interesting and helpful, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Methods of Persuasion is a great book for those who are interested in learning about some of the main psychological forces that affect the way we act and think. This book has plenty of research to back up its claims. It is an interesting read and the chapters are broken up into very logical pieces. Nick Kolenda is no expert on psychology, but he isn't scared to tell you that himself. In order to write this book he simply did his homework...and lots of it. Imagine if you went to a research library and dug around in the psychology section for a couple of years. After each interesting experiment you found you took some notes and then compiled useful ways to leverage the lessons learned from that test. Then you took all those summaries and put them into a book called Methods of Persuasion. Kolenda references Cialdini quite a bit and I read his psychology book just before reading this one so quite a few of the examples overlapped (there are only but so many fundamental psychology experiments to test these primary principles of persuasion). I would recommend reading Cialdini's latest works along with this book. The two support each other well. Cialdini goes into more detail on a lot of experiements because he himself is a PhD and conducted a few of them. If you can truly master the lessons taught in this book you will increase your abiliity to get your way ten-fold. I may just read it again in a few weeks! Great job Kolenda (oh...and the fact i'm writing this review at all is evidence in and of itself that Kolenda knows his stuff...you'll see)

I have read numerous books on persuasion and psychology and enjoyed all that they had to offer. That being said, this is by far my favorite one. The information is provided in a unique and actionable manner, and the author cleverly interacts with you while implementing the material he is discussing. I will definitely keep my eye out for future material from the author.

The Neutral Presentation portion of the headline is a joke. A Master of Persuasion knows nothing that comes to you is neutral, not because of how the message is presented, but how we take it in. This book is practically complete in describing how people directly perceive/interpret the world. Knowing our mechanisms for understanding and learning, which is the basis for our decisions, educates us on how to make better decisions in our lives.

But wait, increasing self-awareness will lead to increased understanding and consideration of others. This book presents the foundations and common ways that others activate their awareness and understanding... to hear your communications and respond to your requests. It shows us the research that we are in fact all the same, with consistent and unconscious reactions to our shared reality.

Sure, this book is about how to get people to listen to your message and improve the positive responses to your requests. It also helps us discover how we self-sabotage our own abilities to succeed by not paying attention to how we and the people we talk to perceive the world and react to it.

Engage life and others more fully, study this book (which is easy to follow) and learn the METHODS of Persuasion. "Methods of Persuasion" should be a required course in High School, start life as you begin to take responsibility for it with better understanding. Reflecting METHODS against your own life will help your realize your bad mistakes (choices and ineffective requests) that led you where you are and empower you to make better decisions in the future, if that's worth anything to you. Take the opportunity to consciously complete your unconscious internalization of these basic principals of communication.

I purchased this book, Mind Control Mastery, and Unlimited Selling Power. This is the best of them by far and the one to start with. It's clearly structured, useful and memorable due to scientific studies cited. Kolenda's use of a single example, with each chapter building upon it really helps clarify practical use of the techniques. Neither of the other two use either of these items. Instead they read like long rambling sermons without foundation in comparison and you're left with no idea how to practically use the information or whether it's more than just one person's opinion .

This is hands down one of the best books on persuasion that I have read. It is not a bunch of theory wrapped in a shell of B.S. Mr. Kolenda has scientific references for all the methods that he gives in this book. Not the flim flam man stuff you'll find in other places. I highly recommend it.

Nick has put together a true masterpiece with this book. I have tried to make it through Cialdini, etc. before, but never found the writing style that engaging. In this book, Nick takes you through all the methods and gives scientific data to back it up. I have rarely read a book that does this without either...A. Putting me to sleep....or B. Giving me no practical way to apply the information whatsoever.
This is not the case with this book. You get the knowledge and how to apply it in the real world and the writing is engaging. I can't believe this book was in my Kindle for 4 months before I decided to read it! Glad I circled back around to it :-)

Much like a debut album, it will be hard for him to top this effort, but I look forward to further works from him if he chooses to publish more.

A fun first step into the world of manipulation and influencing subconscious reactions. The author uses an outline as a blue print to help persuade your " target" to comply with your requests. Useful and thought provoking, I've already tried some of these tactics and happy to say they work!

I have a degree in psychology and worked in a people related field for 40 years.
The concepts Nick presented are useful to anyone who deals with people, which means that they are useful
to nearly everyone. Nicks explanations are also helpful to people who are attempting to understand their own behavior
A little better.

Nick also did an excellent job of expressing and researching his content. His Methods of Persuasion is very well written and easy to read.

The big fear with such books is 1) that it'll be quack anecdote stuff, or 2) that it'll be so obvious anyone with a high school psych book would know it already. This book is neither. Well-researched, cited, and both insightful and funny, it's simply a fun read. Also informative. Do recommend.

At just over 200 pages, Methods of Persuasion offers an intelligent, witty, and enlightening glimpse inside the human mind. Nick shows how most of our daily actions are often controlled by principles outside of our conscious awareness, and he does a great job of describing the scientific research in a fascinating and entertaining way.

Everything that he explains is also practical. I found myself jotting down idea after idea (and I usually don’t take notes while reading). Although many of the examples relate to marketing and advertising, he explains many different scenarios where the principles can be used.

My favorite part of the book is that it describes a step-by-step process. Similar books that I’ve read on the subject only explain a list of techniques, so it’s sometimes difficult to know when to use them. This is the first book I’ve read that actually outlines a clear and logical sequence of steps to persuade someone.

You will be better off reading from an actual researcher (try Cialdini, Ekman) than this hack. First, his tone is incredibly condescending, and his writing skills are poor at best. The only thing that gives the book value are the actual citations from other researchers. I feel like I am reading a very long psychology essay written by a teenager.

I bought the book before I watched his videos. His "mind-reading" acts could have easily been staged (yes, both the live audience videos and the chatroullete videos), and I suspect that they were.

Got nothing but red flags from this guy. But don't take my word for it. Do your research and decide for yourself. I do not recommend buying this book, or anything else he is selling.

Admittedly I read this with a business owners perspective first and didn't expect much based on the title. I was thinking this may be a voodoo lesson on mind control or something. Nothing farther from the truth! Persuasion is used by all humans and shouldn't be confused with manipulation. Persuasion is trying to get someone to understand your side - even if they don't first agree with you. This is a consistent challenge to small and medium business marketers who have to persuade the consumer or purchaser that their product is worth the investment. From that perspective alone, this book is one of the best I've read. Lastly, the research is so integrated into his writing that it's not another the store author looking for a quick buck: this book must have seriously taken a lot of time too write . A+!

Although the book possess some useful anecdotes, it is more of a collection and summary of several psychological phenomena. This is not to say that the book is not interesting to a beginner, although if you have taken a psychology course at any level I would warn against this book as it presents only the most rudimentary introduction into the field. Furthermore, I found the layout of the book rather confusing and the only enjoyable part of the book to be the 'got-chas' that the author occasionally sprinkles in to ensure you have not forgotten his forte in manipulation (or as he would have me say, 'persuasion'). Low reading level, basic psychology principles and many non-applicable tips is why I have rated this book a mere 1-star. Very disappointing, I would encourage all who are considering purchasing this book to briefly consider why you have ended up here. Nick Kolenda is a master of manipulation and unfortunately I fell victim to his specialty in buying this book. Beware the manipulation he uses in his youtube video and the forward of his book as you may end up making a regrettable decision, instead search for even one reputable source endorsing the book before throwing $12 away.

In a time when we are drowning in fake news, made up polls, and basically just sold crap people have pulled out of their butts, this book and its cited format is refreshing. The book reads like a loosely written text and its claims/findings are backed up with cited research studies. The information is presented in large chunks that are easy to digest and the authors witty tone keeps the book light and engaging. I highly recommend this book to anyone in sales, business, or even marriage, as this book will do wonders for your marriage. For instance, my husband just took out the trash and I did not even have to ask, I simply primed a schema and wah-lah trash was out. You must own this book ladies!!

I rarely rate books very often anymore, however, I truly felt the need to put my two cents in here, not because I fell for any "persuasion technique" (I doubt anyone's that gullible) but because, while this book may not be the next astounding breakthrough of our time, it was really well written, well researched and good for what it was. I felt a need to clarify that, and perhaps rectify the injustice of the low ratings this book did not deserve. Moreover, the various unfair one star ratings all seem to be saying the same thing, that this is not a psychology textbook, (perhaps not in those words but that is more or less the gist of it) way to point out the obvious! If you are looking for intermediate psychology than by all means please buy a book on the subject! However, this reads very well for what it is, a layman's guide to persuasion and while I agree it could have included a few more examples, it can be really helpful with understanding people and there motivation. It is a self-help book, NOT a textbook so please read it and enjoy it for what it is and don't rate it for something it was never meant to be.

It's interesting how psychology affect are choices and for those not in the know not realize how these choices arrive in mind. If this type of information is of interest to you, I suggest that you wait no longer and simply buy this ebook. I recommend this with much hesitation though. In fact, I would like Nick Kolenda to remove this information from the market. It is powerful enough that I wish it was not made public knowledge. I have read many authors in this field. Nick presents ideas that should be very well known to persuasion aficionados. The key difference here is Nick's amazing ability to make complex concepts easily digestible and memorable. Additionally his strong grasp of these techniques is astonishing. This is likely due to his practical background in the field commonly known as mentalism entertainment. This information covers virtually all known modern techniques of social persuasion. Nick has not attempted to needlessly flesh out fundamentals with boring side stories. Instead he offers paragraph after paragraph of lean pure up to date information. Too many authors in this field have written as if they are producing a work of fiction. Regurgitating academic findings mixed with poor story telling without successfully exciting readers. This ebook goes far beyond all of that. It is the best I've read in the last decade on this topic. Thank you Nick for sharing your work, although I truly would've liked it not being so accessible.

Extremely well written with real world examples and an accompanying explanation of the underlying psychology explained in plain English. I can see myself pulling this of the shelf for guidance on a regular basis.

I found this book to be both entertaining and informational. I've always had an interest in psychology and this book has inspired me to continue to read more books on persuasion/human behavior. I appreciated the incorporated psychological research with his claims. He provided practical ways in which we can begin using these persuasion tactics in real life. Overall, I really enjoyed this book! The only thing I didn't like, was the repetitive material in a few of the chapters...besides that I would definitely recommend this book to others.

I thought the book was absolutely brilliant. The methods he laid out and explained are practical and simple to implement. Also, on a deeper note, you'll start to consider whether or not you're making purchasing decisions based on research or influence. After you read the book you'll know what I mean. This is a must purchase!

This book opened my eyes like few others. I have never used any of the thousands of "sales techniques" taught because they felt so unnatural and uncomfortable to me. Yet I was always successful because I engage, excite and lead people. This book helped me understand why my natural approach works and it introduced me to things I can add for even better results.

I have read and reread this book. I have applied the suggestions. I constantly review, learn and revise and the results are staggering. I can't recommend this book highly enough if you are prepared to suspend disbelief that a stage magician has anything to teach us business professionals. You will be glad you did!!!

I would really recommend this book for anyone looking for a better way to find new ways to interact with new people in ones life and old acquaintances too. It revealed to me some things that I took for granted and those that I thought don't matter in my relationships and the power these methods can have to change and reshape things.

Pick up a copy, you are sure to learn something worth your while.

Clear and to the point, packaged in a nice framework that is easy to follow, but most of all apply to real life. I am borrowing a few of the concepts and implementing in my business immediately. Thank you.

Working in the field of treatment and rehabilitation i found this book to be extremely insightful. It had pieces that i could use in many facets of life. I would be willing to bet a million dollars that you would be in the same boat as me after reading this. We can use all the tips shared practically, day to day to improve our quality of life, and others. After reading this i wouldn't mind spending double its price in order to obtain all of its pertinent information. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book, because sky is the limit to where it can take you.

There's a lot of crap when you go looking for Kindle Unlimited books; but, this book really shines. Well written, well researched and informative. I will be re-reading to more fully absorb the information.

You simply cannot challenge anything Mr. Kolenda aims to teach you. Throughout the book, he shows you studies that totally support the tools he chooses to unpack for you. If you want to improve your powers of persuasion or amuse yourself in covert conversation, this book is the ticket. Don't ask me how, but he already sold me on his next book. Believe me, if you have any curiosity concerning behavioral psychology, and why it works... this book is for you! Thanks Nick!

I am starting my first business. I needed a crash course on marketing and in my search this book came up. Not disappointed at all! Will be using it not only to begin my marketing but in making choices about brand image and in my Business Plan. A great book to have in your arsenal of marketing or sales books.

Very helpful. I bought it in conjunction with a crowd funding campaign I was prepping for a web series. It helped immensely in understanding how to craft my pitch video and the written part of the campaign, as well as how to reach out to potential contributors.

This is exactly that is needed for every specialization, who is working with people. Sales, advertising, counselling, this book is a first door to the people desires. Author is smart enough to play tricks in the Internet and on public, but this is a serious knowledge about the professional world of business. I really glad, that he is summarized everything, and structured a lot. This is a cutting edge technology, and I'm going to capture the world with this. Greetings from Russia!

It's a decent read, but a lot of it regurgitates what other Persuasion books have already said. It uses supporting facts and case studies, but if you're trying to learn how to actually persuade, there are other books that I would recommend. Studies are good, but in today's environment of "busyness" we're desperate for a way to grab people's attention and align their way of thinking with ours. I would recommend "Getting More" as a book to actually teach you methods of persuasion. This book isn't bad, I just feel there may be better books out there.

First, let me just say that I hate reading. Second, let me just say that I absolutely loved reading this book. It’s that good. Usually I’m bored to tears whenever I read science-y types of books, but Nick’s writing style was really engaging and I even laughed out loud a few times. Each chapter is also a bite-sized chunk, so they’re very easy to get through.

This is the most highlighted book that I have read on persuasion. Nick Kolenda managed to write a book that was humorous, informative, and I felt like he was talking to me.

The best part of this book is not only did he give you the information that you need to know to properly influence people, he backed it up with why it works.

This book never had to be written. Why? Because it already has been. The author rightly acknowledges that most of the people that read this are doing so because their psychology nerds. That being said, everything he writes about are already well known if not famous experiments that anyone with even the slightest interest in the topic has already encountered. The author brings absolutely nothing new to the table and insults the readers intelligence as if what he's writing has never been heard or thought of before. Imagine the looks one might receive if they went to comic-con and asked people if they've ever heard of Star Wars. Duh!
I'm guessing the author is a big fan of Daniel Kahneman of Thinking Fast and Slow fame, because his writing style is a mirror image of it. Sorry, their is just nothing new or even original in this, and even though he begs the reader to buy his follow up book throughout, I assure you that I will not.
I did give it two stars instead of one because at the end of the day much of the information given was valid, but why re-invent the wheel?

This book read like an outsourced e-book shamelessly farming Internet information then patched together to form something no publisher would ever print with a hard cover. This was a free Prime download and it was worth exactly what I paid for it.

Badly written. Editing was completely skipped. The person is clearly does not have a good enough grasp of the English language to publish anything. I deleted it about 3 minutes in. A real waste of time. One star so it can process, it deserves none.

As someone who has been following Nick's blog for a while and finding great value in his articles, this book was as expected and more, if you are fascinated by what makes people do what they do, this is a must-read...

Great summary of techniques used towards persuading others. I think the author often makes things sounds a bit easier than they are, but he does provide some kind of scientific backing for his tips and observations.

It might not be the most highlighted and bookmarked book I'd ever read, but it was really interesting to go through everything.

Kolenda Created an Excellent Presentation, Examples, & Demonstrations As He Uses What He Teaches in This Exceptional Book.
Like Daniel Kahneman and Robert Cialdini, he points your eyes to actual research. Then he makes observations and demonstrations for ways to use these in our everyday lives... And especially for marketers.
I'm having a great time highlighting, dogearing, and writing wherever I can find space.
Buy it. Enjoy it. Consume it. And do whatever it takes to make it stick. Then use it.
Yea Nick!
