Great book! This book is perfect for the hot mess mom's, busy mom's, even working moma. Such an easy read and a great book I will reference as I reorganize and declutter my home. Cas is addicting. Love all of her ideas!

I just love this book. So much so, that I ordered her other book, Cluttered Mess to Organized Success Workbook. They are both great. First books on organizing that I feel are really helping me, step by step, to get my life in order Simple, concise steps and really fun to read.

Cassandra is so down to earth and one of us. It has taken years to have an almost clean and organized house. She gave me many ideas and tips to continue my journey. Not only am I proud of her for all her accomplishments but she has taught me to appreciate and love my home with each task done.

Definitely packed with useful tips. Outfit pods? Genius. Lost sock bag? Fun and practical. But the editor must have been undercaffeinated or something, because the mistakes are numerous. Read it anyway!

I started making some of the suggested changes before I finished reading the book. What I have done is working. The only thing I disagreed with is the clear storage drawers that the author thinks are hideous, have served me well for years. They are affordable and can be easily rolled out to any work area. I label each drawer. Clear storage works best for me. Other than that, there is a lot of great advice.

This book is for everyone. I took the quiz to see what type of organizing system I should use and I couldn't believe how Cassandra nailed my personality. It is a fun read as she is quite entertaining in her writing style. She has such practical ideas and solutions. I am planning on incorporating her ideas in my own home. One of the best organizing books I've read. Highly recommend.

I enjoy watching Clutterbug on Roku so I bought this book to support Cas. I love her warm bubbly personality and she comes up with the best organizing and craft ideas. This book is fun and easy to read with a lot of great tips. As a professional organizer she has read every related book out there and compiled the most useful solutions into one book so you can spend your time decluttering and getting organized instead of just reading about it.

I'm self-proclaimed ADD, I love the easy to read format, bright colors, beautiful pictures, I love the ORGANIZATION and style of this organizing book. Well-written, useful, light and airy, non-judgy, to the point, easily implemented. Whole Foods near me carries it, and they don't have a lot of shelf space, so that might be a further indicator to tell you how great this book could be for you if you are a clutter-bug like me.

I like her style, she's funny and honest about her own laziness, which is refreshingly relatable. She's also spot on accurate that making "lazy systems" works. I am never going to neatly roll up every pair of socks, but chucking them into a box? Yeh even I can manage that!

Love this lady, she's real and gives excellent, practical ways to accomplish decluttering and other DIY motivation with a dose of humor. Clutterbug, her YouTube channel is wonderful. The Konmari method is extreme OCD purging that is scary and not for my home or family.

Love this book and the author! I've learned so much from Cassandra over the several months I have been watching her channel. The best part about the author is she is a person who shares her life, whether good or bad. She is generous of spirit and shares other people's channels with us. Thanks for being a real person with your viewers. You rock!

This is such a fun and easy read. I found myself excited to read a little everyday and found many ideas for getting my own home clean and organized. I've already started creating beautiful spaces in my home and can't wait to transform it.

While this certainly had a few good tips and made me excited to purge, there wasn't enough detail on how to set up an organizing system for me. If you're looking for an in depth look at organization systems and how to implement them this isn't the book for you. The focus is on purging, some stories about what she has done for clients and learned from, and a very quick rundown of some basic macro organizing ideas that are no brainers at the end. I do want to purge clutter, but would like a but more guidance for implementing a micro organizational system with what I keep. There are also some annoying things missed my the proofreader - every instead if ever, a chapter title with Your instead of You're.

This book was so easy to read. Cassandra made it very entertaining. For most of my life I have been somewhat organized! Always big on list making and loved checking off things as they are accomplished. I retired three years ago and thought I should have caught up on all of my disorganized closets, drawers, and cabinets! Well it hasn't happened, so I went online in search of a book to help. And I hit the jackpot with this book. Looking forward to purging and letting go of my clutter!

I read this book quickly and started decluttering right away. I cleared out closets and put everything in one part of my living room that did not have a designated place. I reorganized most of my cabinets and resisted the urge to buy containers or any organizing stuff until I had more of an idea of what I needed.
This has been a wonderful process! I had actually decluttered many times in the past and read a number of books on organizing. I used to be a minimalist. Starting a family and buying a home changed that though and it seems overnight I collected quite a bit of stuff and it was so frustrating! I would buy plastic bins and put everything I didn’t know what to do with into them. And it was total chaos because I was losing stuff and everything was mixed into boxes that I threw together quickly. I was thinking I was still a minimalist but I wasn’t anymore. Here is what this book helped me to accomplish in about 3 days:
- I found a home/ designated place for many of our belongings (This shelf for paper towels/ plates, that drawer for hairbrushes and combs, etc.) This way all my stuff wasn’t scrambled together.
- I created “spa” style cabinets in my guest bathroom. I will try to include a picture.
- created project and hobby shelves
- began decluttering and realized that I had too many boxes/ containers! She mentions this in the book. I will be donating lots of these plastic bins. I recycled a lot of paper and started filling boxes to donate to charity.
- I went through the kitchen and focused on each item and the “real estate”. I was not using probably 80% of stuff that was in the most reachable drawers/ shelves. I created a kitchen that works for me now and moved the stuff I rarely use to the storage cabinet in the garage or put it in the donations box.
- Since I cleaned my kitchen cabinets and drawers my dishes don’t pile up because I have a place for them! It used to be that the dishwasher would stay full of clean dishes while the dirty dishes would pile up for a couple days (okay a few days)... it wasn’t that I was lazy, it’s that I basically did not have enough room to put everything away! Now I can put everything away neatly without pushing too much into too small a space.
I am currently working on going through sentimental clutter and creating my memory box. This one’s tough! My mom saved all of my school papers, drawings, stuffed animals, trinkets, etc. from my childhood and I brought it all home. She saved it for me until I bought a home and I didn’t know she had most of it. It’s very interesting time capsules for sure but I don’t think I can keep it all!
While reading this book I did not do 15 minutes a day, I just spent like 10 hours a day doing this because I felt inspired over the weekend (and because it has been so rainy here we were all inside anyway!)
I recommend another book called Clear Your Clutter With Feng Shui by Karen Kingston. For the past few years this has been my go-to inspiration for decluttering but I needed a new fresh perspective. I think this book would be a great supplement to Real Life Organizing because it goes into the spiritual reasons we keep what we do, and it helps to let those things go when you know why you have held on. I have read many other organizing books/ blogs but these two books are my favorites.
This book has inspired me to actually hop out of bed early and get started and work until the evening whenever I get the chance. I will update this review after I have had some time to use some of her other ideas in my home. Great book!

I really enjoyed this book. I've read many books to help me learn how to declutter, get organized, and keep my house clean. As the author was describing herself, I kept thinking that's me and if she was able to find a way to get organized than I can too! There's a little quiz to help you see what type of a organizer you are and how to overcome your particular obstacles. The book is an easy read. There are lots of printables to help you get organized as well. All practical advice and even though you may have read about some of these ideas before I'd highly recommend it as everything you need to do is in one concise book and the lists and charts are very nice.

Aarssen’s cheerful, breezy take on organization hits most of the same high notes as other organization and decluttering books: get rid of stuff you don’t use or love, use containers for storage, make it easy to put stuff away when you’re done using it, and so on. She divides people into four types of “Clutterbug”: Butterfly, Cricket, Ladybug, and Bee, depending on their style of disorganization and clutter and the reasons behind it. She makes suggestions about storage and organization style based on those types. I would find her divisions more useful if I didn’t fall squarely in three of them on the included quiz, with equal scores in two and the third only one point less. (Cricket and Bee, followed by Butterfly.)
I did come away with a few fresh and practical ideas for organizing, a better understanding of some of what stands in my way, and one golden quote that’s going in my arsenal for times when I’m trying to purge the clutter: “You’re not deciding which child to keep; it’s just stuff.”
If you enjoy Aarssens’ approach (which I do), she also has a series of videos on YouTube. Just search for “Clutterbug.” But the book is worth reading for the way it pulls everything together, and for the handy set of planner pages and checklists in the back.

This author nailed it! She had me pegged instantly with the initial questionnaire. Since I'm a butterfly according to my answers to the questionnaire, all that she suggested for "Butterflies" is right on target for me. As I read the choices for answers, I said, "gee this woman must know me." I've never been so motivated and have accomplished so much in just a short time. I highly recommend this book if you want to get rid of the piles and stacks, and feel comfortable having people visit without the guilty feeling of embarrassment. A quick read, highly motivating, and result oriented. I've tried many other de-cluttering tactics, this was the one that worked ... finally I'm clutter free. Thank You Cassandra!

Cass is amazing at helping people figure out what kind of "Clutter Bug" you are and what cleaning style works for your personality. She puts it is simple terms and helps guide you too a clutter free home. I can't wait for her next book "Cluttered Mess to Organized Success Workbook" out January 2018.I pre-ordered mine! I Love her Youtube channel,CLUTTERBUG.ME go to it and SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE. You will not be disappointed. Cas is a reformed slob, down to earth and funny. Her organizing methods are easy to follow and something everyone can benefit from. Don't forget to "Bloom Where You are Planted". It has changed my life and has helped me enjoy my family and home.

I rented this book from the library and like her writing style very much - casual and very approachable. The illustrations are fun, and I appreciated the "Planner" features at the end. I knocked off a star because the print in the paperback book is small and greyscale. Unless you have the eyesight of a 20-year old, it is very tiring to read for very long. I plan to get the Kindle version for better readability of the text.

This book was an easy read but packed full of useful observations and ideas. She puts good emphasis on different styles we naturally have towards our stuff, and how to use those natural inclinations to improve your home's functioning and efficiency. I especially appreciated her approach to guilty clutter - holding on to things that should be (or used to be) sentimental isn't doing anything for you or the original giver, and it's okay to move it on. I have been so disappointed by organizing books but this one was delightful.

I really enjoyed the content of the book, it was great! The message was simple and so relatable. If you have watched any of Cass' Youtube videos, it is exactly the same! Her personality shines through.
My one criticism - the book was very poorly edited. There were numerous spelling errors, including one in a chapter title! I was a little annoying, but doesn't detract from the content at all.

I’m rating this three stars because I loved the actual book but hated the audio book. The book provides clear and concise information about organization. It’s helpful and a fun read. However, the audio book is terrible. The author should’ve been the one narrating. Buy the actual book but don’t waste your money on the audio book.
