Book one of a series so there is a bit of a cliffhanger end.
I enjoyed the characters and the interaction between them. There are some that I hope come to a bad end soon. I guess that means I got involved.

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because it jumped around a lot. It would have been better if back stories started with a prolong and the villains we bunch together instead of a peppered into the main story. Will read other in the series when come out.

Interesting world where the heroine discovers unknown powers to try to save the hero, a stranger to her but someone she feels drawn to. Pretty good, lots of action, but ends on a cliffhanger.

This isn't first book I've read by Alex Nichols but it won't be the last. The Traitors Bride was a great, steamy suspenseful sci-fi romance and j can't wait till the next in the series: The Commanders Captive

Well I admit this is not a book I would have picked up had I known how saccharin it was in regards to the romance, I completely objected to being served up half a book with no warning. The description made it appear as this was a series with different love interest - well, this story has a beginning and a middle, but no end. The prose also quite stilted - maybe for some kind of "reader mindset" effect - but it was off putting. I won't be continuing this series.

I am reviewing an ARC copy. This book was interesting and intriguing, parts of it for me was confusing and over written. I enjoy sci-fi romances for the most part but this one fell a little sideways, which put me on the fence. But I will wait for the next book, since it did leave a cliff hanger.

Etana's station in life as a laundry maid does not matter to Lord Sebi, a war hero that false allegations have brought against him. The plot is good, and I wish there was closure to this story, but it continues to another book. I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I couldn't put this book down until I finished it! Unfortunately it ends on a cliffhanger, but that is probably a good thing. If Etana & Areg's story had finished in this book, it would have been cut too short. The characters are well developed and there is a definite chemistry between Etana & Areg. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

The first ten chapters of the this book is disgusting and made my stomach nauseated, that I had to stop reading. This world is totaling disgusting and everyone's in for the orgy fest, especially the supposedly rich-blood. Except none of them are really rich blood, because they do not have any powers, except little menial Etana. I continued after, but I was not impressed with this world. My suggestion is to forget it.

Oh, what fun! I am used to reading author Alix Nichol's sassy, sexy, Parisian-based contemporary romances so didn't know what to think when I saw her name affixed to a science fiction story. We have multiple planets, varying levels of technical and technological sophistication, civilizations ranging from medieval to modern+, power mad evil-doers, national and interplanetary politics, bionics, and "magic" all wrapped up in one (full-length) novel which concludes its action but is a bit of a cliff-hanger. Think serial. Fortunately we are being promised the next chapter "soon"! (Disclaimer: I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book. Haha! Of course I did! I love her stuff!)

This story draws you in effortlessly into the world of the Xereill.
Etana is a Menial, basically a servant in their caste system because she was born to other ‘menials’. Areg is of the aristocracy - until he starts questioning the status quo and that doesn’t sit well with most of those currently in power…. So he’s labelled a traitor and locked away in prison. But Etana heard him speak his views and feels the need to do something to save him; her plan leads her to meet Areg in person and the chemistry is almost instant between them.
There are a couple twists of course in this story, since when does true love ever go smoothly? What makes this story fascinating is the mixture of archaic practices and highly advanced technology used mostly by offworld authorites or crooks because truly advanced technology is illegal in their society for the majority of people. This is a rich romance story though, and the love story is sweet between Areg and Etana. I just found myself rooting for them, not really knowing if they’d make it or not.
So I was really enjoying this book until I turned the last page and realized it was a cliffhanger! I thought this was at least a happy for now but I guess you will really need to have the second book handy to know how Etana’s and Areg’s story finishes, lol.
I received an advance reader copy and am voluntarily providing my honest review.

I voluntarily chose to read and review this arc. Alix does an awesome job. It’s a new start to a new series so it might start a little slow as it’s setting up the background to it but it just gets better as it goes on!!

Areg is a lord and a hero to his planet who believes he’s lost his family and has no one but friends at his side. He’s arrested for being a “traitor “ and knows he’s going to die.
Etana is a lowly maid who knows her station in life yet dreams of the life lord areg has spoken about. Where everyone is equal and can become anything they want.
As they are thrown together he learns how feisty and strong she really is, sort from being stubborn. She comes to learn that she can’t and won’t let him die and she’ll do everything she can to keep him alive.
An absolute must read that leaves you wanting more and for alix to hurry up!!! This cliffhanger is definitely worth waiting for the next book!!!

The Traitor's Bride: A sci fi romance (Keepers of Xereill Book 1)

Futuristic tale of greed, corruption, evil, adventure, romance, suspense and mysticism. A lot of elements at play in this novel; certainly enough to keep any reader captivated. The two main characters do not have an easy go of things, especially the main male character. The main female character showers her strength upon the main male character, giving him unconditional support. Other supporting characters are well developed and spring to life just as well as the two main characters do. Another book follows so we are left in suspense as to how things will totally evolve for these, quite literally, star-crossed lovers. Til the next novel ...

I received an advance review copy of this novel and I am leaving an honest review.

Alix Nichols is better known for her contemporary romance novels. In this series she breaks out into the world of Sci Fi and has a winner in this series. Areg Sebi is an ex major in the army who unfortunately for him, is backing the wrong candidate for governor of their world and has been charged as a traitor. False evidence is created against him as those in power are looking for a way to eliminate him as a threat, by having him killed as a disgraced traitor. Then, out of the blue, an unlikely woman, Etana Tidryn, a laundry maid, steps up and sites an ancient law asking him to marry, thus saving his life. Will that save Sebi or will the corrupt leaders find a way to go forward with Sebi's execution? This is a action packed story of good vs evil, strong family bonds and loyalty, tenderness and true love.
I volunteered to read an advanced copy of this book.

Remembering that the world of Xereill is part of this science fiction novel, is hard; because so many of the troubles, darkness, and terrible treatment of women, can be found in our own world today. Etana, a young maiden, believes in the words of the war hero, Areg. She wants to believe in a better world for all. But forces within the current government are against them both. This is a well-written story about these two souls; both fighting for what they believe in. Etana has a secret power, secret even to her. The power helps save Areg and makes me wish we all had that same power. The only thing I didn’t like about this novel is that we now need to wait for volume 2 to see what happens next to these two lovers. This story kept me reading from the beginning to the end of volume 1. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I dont normally read scifi books but im really starting to like these type of books :)

This is a exciting book about areg who is accused of being a traitor and he nearly gets his head chopped off but he saved by a woman called Etana who said she will marry him.
The only problem is the horrible man ( chief ultek) in charge will do everything he can to stop that from happening and he also wants Etana for himself.

A wonderful book about about falling in love and wanting to be with someone you has everyone after them trying to kill him.
Its about saving a mans life even the etana isnt sure how.

I really did like this book and would recommend it. Keep in mind that this book is the storytelling of the beginning so there is a lot to take in. But I found it really well written and quite the emotional rollercoaster. I look forward to the next book. Yes, I will definitely be reading it. Why? Because this is the start of an excellent series.

I received this ARC from HG's for my review.
I enjoy sci-fi romances and this has a good storyline.
This story is a combination of action, adventure and romance. The characters are well presented. Be prepared for the major cliff hanger at the end.
I liked the mix of action and adventure and romance. It starts a little slow but picks up the speed pretty quickly. There are lots of interesting elements that ad to the richness of the story.

Great start to a wonderful series. Alix Nichols has built a great world with engaging, fully realized characters who keep you engaged and sitting on the edge of your seat. You might have to keep on your toes to follow all the players good and bad , but it is well worth it. Further, the story ends in a cliffhanger that is resolved in the next installment. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

The Traitor’s Bride by Alix Nichols is an action packed adventure. The story is well written and the characters are well connected. The story keeps you captivated with all the drama, angst, twists and turns. Come meet Etana and Areg and follow their journey. You will enjoy reading this one. NOTE: there is a cliffhanger and you will need to read the series as it comes along. I voluntarily read and reviewed this advanced readers copy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a great book. I’ve never read anything by this author before and I was pleasantly surprised. I do try to avoid cliffhangers but I received this book for my review. The characters were well developed & there was lists of action. The upperclass falls for the lower society laundry maid. It’s great to watch the two main characters develop & blossom.

I've already read some books from Alix Nichols but this was a new genre compared with her "usual" contemporary romance novels. I loved the fast-paced action in this sci-fi setting that had a lot of twists and turns. I only "had" to deduct one star because of the cliffhanger-ending that came much too soon for me.

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.

This is a great sci fi romance by Alix Nichols that is book 1 of a series ending with a cliffhanger. Laundry maid Etana attends the public flogging of Lord Areg which was a trumpted up charge from the start! Something grabs at her ❤️ but she is not sure what it is. This book is an intense read filled with danger at every turn. Sci fi at it's finest. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

I received this book for free for an honest review. You will not put this book down until you're finished and I feel like I could read it again later on as I'm sure you will!

...Start To A New Genre For The Author.

I love the new world and characters which are introduced to us in this
book. The characters are well-developed and the entertaining story is
in the right pace.

The book contains a sweet heroin (Etana) and a sexy war hero (Areg),
deep emotions, troubled characters, doubts, political intrigues,
police power plots and an incredible chemistry.

But there is one point I really, really don't like: A really absolutely evil
cliffhanger!!!!

I recommend you to wait until the next book is out. Otherwise the wait
for the continuation makes you as crazy as me right now. ;)

But you have to read the series with this thrilling plotline.

I received an ARC of this book. I have voluntarily chosen to leave my
review in support of this book.

I really enjoyed this book...I like the concept that you don’t have to settle for what you are born into, that once you find love you find the power within to withstand anything! I was disappointed that the end leaves you hanging...a series is one thing but to have to wait till the next book to find out what happens in a cliff hanger was not cool!

I really enjoyed this new world that the author creates. There's a lot of action and the story keeps you intrigued. A lowly laundress tries to save a war hero from treason. Their romance is sweet and shows the power of love. A cliff hanger ending makes you impatient for book 2. I voluntarily reviewed a copy from Hidden Gems.

This was a great story. I hate cliffhangers so now I have to wait like another month or so to get the rest of the story, but the story was so good I will forgive her for the cliffhanger. There is lots of action and drama to keep you interested. This was a fun read. I volunteered to review an advance copy from hidden gems.

Fantastic storyline. Hero is a little bit of a fatalist but the heroine is a little overly hopeful. So, they balance each other well. This story has lots of action, treachery & romance. It’s totally different but reminds me of Star Wars. I’m thoroughly enjoying this.

***I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.*** 3.5 stars. Overall it was a good story and I enjoyed it. What I didn't like (and I'm not sure if I missed it or it wasn't mentioned) is that it ends in a cliff hanger. I usually avoid those types of books. I like series and arcing story lines but I prefer each book to be a stand alone within the series. Just a preference.
