It was great to see Jase find love. He had been tortured for 5 years and left for dead by demons. After being so cold and angry for so long it was great to see Brenna teach him how to love and soften his heart.

I LOVE the Dark Protectors series! Rebecca Zanetti always manage to develop a captivating love story between her lead
characters while constantly driving the plot forward. Shadowed is no exception! I devoured this novel, and can not wait to read the next book!

I do not want to give the story away. I will say that I have enjoyed following these brothers as they have found their mates as they live through their battles. I have become a fan of Rebecca Zanetti and can not wait for the conclusion of this series.

Rebecca's best book in the series! There was just enough action, romance, and family to satisfy any book reader. The Kayrs brothers and their mates are all loveable and I can't wait for the next story!

Very good addition to Dark Protectors series--3.5 stars. Not as good Consumed or Provoked but way better than Twisted. Enjoyable read and well deserved hea for now anyway for main characters. Some moving moments in story. Looking forward to the next book in the series -- the Prophet's story. I liked the the counselor's character alot.

Dark protectors series is one of my favorite, these are really quick reads with an excellent story line. It's hard to have a favorite in this series because they all are so good but this was definitely one of my favorites.

I was really looking forward to Jase's story and it didn't disappoint. It was a very emotional book just because both of them were so damaged, just in different ways. And they had encountered stunning losses. Jase started out as the younger charming brother of the powerful Kayrs family. Not only charming but also extremely talented when it came to controlling the forces of nature. But that all changes after the torture he endured for 5 years at the hands of the demon race.
Brenna has been fighting an illness caused by being forced to drink something poisonous to her race of witches. She also had been kidnapped but both of the M.C.'s are trying to recover from their sufferings. It looks like Brenna just might not live if something isn't done and quickly. She had also been a very powerful person (a witch) before this poison began to sap her energies. She is not only powerful and smart but also had a kind heart. Like Jase said, she was a nurturer.
There were really good secondary people in the book. I had read other books so it was just like a re-union. It was cool to see Janie and her brother Garrett all grown up. It also is probably fairly easy to read as a stand-alone book too. I think enough background information was included in this book.
This book like all the others had plenty of action, some violence, mysteries, enemies, magic and sex. Everything is intense. In the paranormal world that was built, mates when they became a couple it was equal to a forever marriage. Although some even had the human ceremony as well.
There is a dramatic end for now to this book, which was quite the surprise.

Jase Karys is a much different man after being tortured by demons for five years. People tiptoe around him and that only makes him madder. Alive when by rights he should be dead, he’s a broken man inside bent on revenge even if it kills him. Until he mates with a powerful dying witch. He’s hoping he’ll get his powers back and she’s hoping he’ll cure her of the poison that’s slowly killing her thus restoring her own powers. They’ll use each other then go their separate ways. Or will they?

I’m not crazy about all the fast-forwarding this series does, but I do enjoy the characters and the trials Rebecca Zanetti puts them through. This is another great, but not awesome, read and while I did enjoy it there are certain aspects that I found lacking. The whole section between Willa and Brenna was amateurish compared to other scenes and I was disappointed. It was like it wasn’t even written by the same person. Janie’s actions continue to tick me off. In my opinion she makes really horrible decisions and that makes me not like her. Jase is the tortured hero, literally and Brenna is physically weak (at the moment), but mentally strong. I like her. I like her a whole bunch. I have a feeling this series is coming to its climatic ending very soon and I look forward to the closure.

My first Rebecca Zanetti read, and it definitely won't be my last! This was a great fun, fast paced novel. I need to empathise with and understand characters to enjoy a book, and Brenna caught me straight off. She was just one of those really likeable people, one you want to hug and to know that she was dying from a poisoning when she should be long lived as a witch - well hats so unfair. Then we meet Jase, one of the Kayrs brothers. Wow they're all very delicious, yummy, sexy vampires and Jase has that broody Alpha male thing that's so appealing, - and he has a soft side that is attracted to Brenna. He tells himself he's mating with her to save her life, she's a sweet, kind person and deserves that, and as he's no intent to find love and a mate otherwise its straightforward - well at least it gives her a chance at survival, and he may gain some of his powers back too. Bonus all round. Of course we can see that there's more than just practicality on both sides, that the strong attraction that sears between them is more than just physical, but neither are preprepared to recognise that yet. Brenna wants the chance to live so accepts his offer, hoping she can keep her heart intact, she knows that he's determined to wipe out the demons who imprisoned and tortured him for five years, and nothing, not even a mate, will stop him. She mustn't fall in love, that way lies heartbreak.
There's some discussions between everyone - poor Brenna, it felt like everyone had a right to know her personal history and I really felt for her, but it was simply that they cared for her and wanted the best for her. Anyway Jase gets his way and as there are then threats on Brenna's life from other directions, they move swiftly to the Kayrs base in USA where his brother is king of the vampires. But the danger follows Brenna, and some of her new family are also targeted. Add in a kidnapping of someone else, threats, break-ins to the stronghold where they all live, and its all action. We're never quite sure which faction is behind things, so its hard for the Kayrs to plan a strategy for protection or a rescue. Its not just which group, but where they will attack and when and where they will take any prisoners. In the midst of all the action too there's the contrast where Brenna starts to fall for Jase and he for her, though he still doesn't recognise it, but stubborn man that he is he does agree to try harder on a proper relationship for her, but when the chips are down ....well, I really felt for poor Brenna then.
Janie, one of her new family who is human but with strong seer type powers is a really interesting character, especially as she's got that blood tie to two others that were childhood friends but are now enemies of the vampires...that's going to make for a good storyline in a future book I hope.
Its a fast paced, action packed novel with a strong thread of romance running through - I love those. The characters were great, well described so I felt I knew them and their individual strengths and weaknesses, and the scenes set for plots surrounding further novels involving the Kayrs family. I'm looking forward to those! Priced at £3.72 for 90,000 words it's good value and is a keeper novel for me.
Stars: almost the five, four and a half.

Difficult to believe I started and am now going to finish this series this year. I’ve come full circle having received for review the next book back in March. I took a break over the summer, but received the last book for an ARC review recently and decided to binge read the remaining books. As I know there is only one more story to go I have to say I’m fine with it. I’m ready for the story to be done and every villain to get what coming to them and all the heroes to have their long-lasting peace with their mates.

This was Jase’s story, one that I was interested in seeing how it played out. Jase is the youngest brother and probably has had the most difficult time of them all during the war. I kind of thought that he bas going to be paired up with Brenna, there were subtle hints along the way, and while I am pleased with the pairing I was less excited about their story. I find it a little ironic that the other story I struggled with in this series was Conn’s and his being mated with Brenna’s sister, Moira. I guess I am just not a fan of witches. Sorry. Still I’m glad I read it just kept waiting for it to be over so I could get to the last book.

Brenna and Jase were a good match, both of them needed healing and were able to provide that for each other. The story dragged on at times, especially in the second half of the book, but again I think this is just me. The beginning had good action and pacing and I was able to see the chemistry between the two, even if it did feel a little flat at times.

Not a lot of Janie, Zane or Kalin in the book which might have been another strike against it in my book. We did get to spend some time in Garrett’s head as his character had more to do in this story. I liked him and hope that the author finds a way to give him his own novella or something. It would be shame for everyone to get their own story and his to be left out. He was probably the most interesting story arch in the book and I hope there is more of him in Janie’s story.

Off to finish up the series, just a couple of things left to clear up and I look forward to seeing how things play out. The end is near!

The wait for Jaces book was more than worth the wait. I definitely felt like I just witnessed the most beautiful transformation. Jace was tortured and abused and held captive for 5 years. The trauma he faced would have destroyed a lesser man. As a vampire he was strong yet this was just terrible. The one light in his darkness was a painting that reminded him of the sweet witch that was the artist. Brenna had such a good soul. She truly wanted to help her family and try to unravel the poison attacking her body. A mating that started off as a way to help everyone turned into a love that touched me like I've not read in so long. I cried, I laughed, I had moments of sheer terror. This author is absolutely mesmerizing with how she weaves a tale I have marks on my hands from gripping my kindle. This series is an absolute top favorite because I feel like the way she keeps the story arc going, interweaving characters let's you see how their hea is going. Little glimpses, extra chapters, just sprinkle goodness into an already engaging story.
So many characters to come and Janie and Zane, their story is the one I think that will change everything.

Perfect read for me.

Safety
Neither were celibate after meeting, families new each other. No details though. This current story 100% Safe.

Given by the publisher for an honest review

First of all, I hadn't realised that the book was part of a series, especially the 6th book. But it didn't really matter to me..There was history about the other characters, but it didn't affect me understanding the plot..So, it's not exactly a stand-alone but it's certainly doable..

Now Let's delve into the book....

I LOVED IT!!..It had strong characters, solid story and pace and it was a hot whirlwind of events and information!!

There was absolutely nothing I would change about it..Rebecca Zanetti wrote a magnificent fantasy book, which is past of an epic fantasy series..It has made me go and buy all the other books of the series..All the characters are amazing and I would love to read about all of them..Kane and Amber-Dage and Emma-Conn and Moira-Talon and Cara-Jane and the mysterious Zane-even Max is hugely interesting!

>>Brenna..The powerful and sensitive grey-eyed witch, who blew my mind away with her spirit..

>>Jase..The deadly killer, who wants to return to his former self and find love..

Both of them were damaged one way or another..They had lost parts of themselves, after years of hurting..They wanted to get better but they didn't know how..Brenna recovered first and tried to help Jase, but he chose a different path..He didn't choose her..And that hurt deeply because she had let herself believe in them..And then, chaos broke out..Literally..Jase (finally) made the right decision and fought for her..He finally fought for them..Sometimes,you need total destruction to get you up on your feet..

He knew he couldn't live without her..He realised he didn't want to let her go..EVER..And he didn't..and that's all both of them had ever wanted..

What-A-Book!!..I couldn't put it down..I had to force myself to even go to sleep and continue reading it the next day..Ah the crazy things books make us do...

A Great Book of An Epic Series With Perfect Characters. It felt like family..It felt like home..

Summary
Brenna, a witch has been suffering from a poison she consumed and has slowly been killing her. Without the cure or a mate, she will die and she only has weeks left. Brenna knows that she is weakening and only one man can save her, Jase Kayrs. Jase was held captive and tortured by the demons for five long years, and he still is recovering. He was once easy-going and jovial, but not is volatile and dangerous. Jase gives Brenna an offer, mate with him and have the chance to live, or she will die. Brenna knows that she doesn’t have a choice but to mate with Jase, a dangerous vampire, but a man she knows that is out for revenge and will do anything to destroy the demons. Soon Brenna and Jase will have to start working together to defeat what is to come…

The Hero
Jase Karys has changed since he was captured and tortured. He is quite powerful, intense, and full of rage and has vows to get revenge on the demon nation, no matter the cost. Jase is the youngest of the Kayrs Family, a “royal” family of the vampire nation. His brother is King, but Jase who was one the most easy-going and carefree of the brothers is not the same man anymore. Jase has his own demons to destroy and he must gain certain gifts through mating Brenna to get what he needs most. Jase is a hero that is one of the strongest of his family because of what he endured. Jase is full of rage and needs to get his revenge, but what was most admirable about Jase was how he didn’t let the demons break him. He may be damaged but is still a fighter and stronger than ever…and what an alpha male he is.

The Heroine
Brenna, is a powerful witch, or was until she was poisoned and she lost her abilities. She has known for quite some time, that she will be dying soon, and she knows that even if she mates with Jase, it may be too late for her. Brenna sees life in a very realistic way, she sees the facts and how life really is, not how she would want it to be. Brenna despite her loss of powers, is still a fighter, and boy can this woman kick ass (I would dearly love to fight like her), she is just as strong in fighting for those she cares about. I loved her dedication to Jase and aiding him. Brenna is a heroine that will charm and win you over. Practical to the core, talented in the martial arts, and emotionally sound.

Plot and Story Line
Shadowed is a story I knew was going to be dang good and boy was I right about this book!! Whew, did I love just about everything about it. Another fabulous addition to the series that Zanetti has created for us here. Shadowed follows the previous book a little bit after, some time has gone by. Jase, has been rescued and been healing since he got back. But he is full of anger and uncontrolled rage. We see how his time with the demons has affected him. In some ways the easy-going brother is gone, and a more powerful vampire has taken his place. A vampire that does what needs to be done, no matter what. Even if that means mating with a woman he doesn’t love. It seems like just about everyone is against their mating, including some of her coven members. Even though it seems like a practical arrangement, it doesn’t turn out that way. And it seems that these two are destined for more. Love the way this author weaved this story and told a tale of redemption and the healing power of love. What made the most impact on me was the change in their relationship despite the chaos surrounding them. It’s a ongoing and steady change, and you slowly see it changing from something practical to a very emotional and powerful bond these two start to build with each other.

The Cover
I actually really enjoy this cover, I love this male model…isn’t he delicious?? I love the mix of colors we have here as well. A bit different from the earlier covers.

Overall View
Shadowed is a stimulating and thrilling ride of passion, edgy suspense, and paranormal adventure…bound to know your socks off!! STUNNING!!

In Shadowed (Dark Protectors #6) by Rebecca Zanetti, Vampire Jase Kayrs has been plotting revenge on the demons who tortured and held him captive since the moment he was rescued. As it turns out, the time to make his move may be fast approaching. Jase has a chance to help witch, and ally, Brenna Dunne by mating with her, increasing both of their already substantial powers. He also credits Brenna for being one of the biggest reasons he didn't give up while the demons tortured him.

Jase always did have a soft spot for the petite witch and now he just hopes he doesn't hurt Brenna, physically or emotionally, thanks to his uncontrollable rage. As he prepares for more battles ahead with their enemies, he begins to actually feel emotion for the first time in ages. Could Brenna be the key to letting go of his past?

Brenna Dunne is racing against time before two events change her life forever. The suggestion that mating with the object of a former crush, Jase Kayrs, will help her seems ridiculous. However, Jase is one of the most deadly soldiers on earth and an extraordinarily powerful vampire in his own right. Brenna worries that if she agrees with the plan, she may lose her heart to the tormented man and end her chance at finding love in her lifetime.

The latest offering in the Dark Protectors series, Shadowed, is a dark, intense paranormal romance that had me mesmerized. With passionate writing and engaging characters, Rebecca Zanetti has once again given us a story to remember.

Book six in the series can be read as a standalone if you've never explored this world before, and I think you will still have a good understanding of the how the characters fit together without getting lost. I really enjoyed Rebecca's writing style again, as it seems to beautifully convey the character's emotions. Especially with Jase and Brenna--their desire for each other and how swept away they become with their emotions comes across perfectly to the reader.

Even though the plotline for Shadowed is based on rather dark events, there was still a nice smattering of humor and funny moments included. Some of my favorite scenes were those that included a lighthearted touch: the meeting for the negotiation of the terms of their mating, and Brenna and Jase's sparring session. Poor Jase! lol

I think Rebecca did a nice job showcasing how much Jase went through at the hands of the demons and his struggle to try to get back some semblance of his former carefree self. It was heartening to see his family stand by him through it all and to see how strong Brenna was in the midst of the chaos.

If you're a fan of paranormal romance, I think you'll really enjoy Shadowed. It is a touching story filled with drama, heart-racing action and lots of magic.

Such a sweetheart. I never like Jase in pain. Hate it. I'm glad he has found some peace. Brenna is a spitfire. In past books she's painted as a gentle woman. We learn different in this book. She's strong just like Moira. She was a little insecure, which I found very annoying. I believe it's because she's been so sheltered and protected by her family. I love the way the author developed this relationship. Both Jase and Brenna were able to grow. Garrett is going to be a force. He's strong like all the men in his life. Taught him well. Love his relationship with Janie. Janie is still keeping secrets. They were costly in this book. Many battles in this book. Very exciting. We were reintroduced to all the mates. I love them all except Amber. Still don't like her. The bond of the brothers is strong. Fun times ahead.

Oh how I love it when two of my longtime favorite characters fall for each other! Until the last book, Provoked, I did not foresee Jase and Brenna being a couple. There might have been hints in previous books but I get so caught up in the main couple I tend to not commit little nuances like that to memory sometimes. These two could not have been more made for each other. They both hold an enormous amount of responsibility, some of it self-assigned, some of it a product of the war and their families. Jase is still trying to recover from being help captive by the demons for 5 years. Brenna, on the other hand, is dealing with a sickness that will kill her by her next birthday. Jase's torture and Brenna's illness have rendered them powerless. There's a loophole though. Isn't there always? If they enter into a mating Brenna could be healed and they could both gain their powers back. Everyone wins! Except Brenna, a romantic at heart, does not want to enter into a marriage of convenience.

"I'm damaged, and I'm determined to kill."
~Jase

Well, the one thing these two have in common is that they have families that would do anything to save them. More than not wanting to marry for anything but love, Brenna does not want to see her family suffer. The mating is advantageous in many ways and Jase and Brenna both realize that. Jase has ulterior motives though. While he wants to save Brenna from certain death, what he wants more is to gain his powers back and take revenge on the demons who held him captive, which is his certain death. Jase and Brenna struggle throughout Shadowed with their feelings for one another. Their mating was supposed to solve their problems not create more with their undeniable passion. As much as they fight believing they can have a future together, Jase and Brenna cannot fight their attraction. And let me tell you, Jase is alpha all over! I find that couples who try to push each other away, tend to have way hotter sex. It's so impulsive, gasping and groping hands. I love it.

"I love you with everything I am, everything I'll ever be, and with every hope I could ever dream."
~Jase

I had a soft spot for Brenna since she was introduced in the earlier books, she was the eighth daughter of a seventh daughter. She isn't even supposed to exist, and she has always felt like an outcast. But Jase makes her feel like she belongs... with him. So, how is she supposed to let him gain his revenge, when it almost certainly means his death? And Jase... well he made me wonder if I even wanted to finish Shadowed. I was afraid after his trauma, that even Brenna could not keep him from self destructing. Of course I finished it but, Jase about broke my heart in the process. I am going to go out on a limb and say Shadowed was the most action packed out of the Dark Predators series. There are no slow parts, and if you start to gloss over a sentence you miss a huge plot twist. I thought with Jase's story I would feel a sense of calm, but no. Rebecca Zanetti built this story up to a peak, with several different lose ends. It's not necessarily a cliffhanger, but several story arcs are still left unanswered. We get closure for the couple, but not for the group as a whole. I have said this before, and I'm going to say it again... I am SO excited for Janie's story. She played a bigger role in Shadowed than the last couple of books. And I will say this, Ms. Zanetti about caused me heart failure at one point. Shadowed does not necessarily wrap up in nice, pretty bows. After all, it is Jase's story.. he has never been a simple character. I have no doubt that fans of the Dark Predators will love this addition, and that new comers will be intrigued enough by the hype that they will pick up the series at the beginning :)

Happy Reading!

REVIEW:
I love The Dark Protectors Series! Shadowed was full of danger and scorching romance. Jase and Brenna heated and scorched up the pages in this book. Jase is the youngest brother of the five ultra alpha vampires in the Karys ruling family. Jane has been my favorite since he was introduced in the first book. Jase was the sexy, carefree, and charming brother. That's all changed and now he only has one goal. Revenge. This was an emotional read for me. Jase had been through so much in the previous books and to see him and his brothers struggling really affected me. Rebecca Zanetti has a way of pulling the reader into her books and making the characters come to life. I highly recommend The Dark Protector Series for Paranormal Romance lovers!

Jase Kayrs is the youngest brother, and was always the most fun loving and carefree out of all of the Kayrs'. That is until the Demons captured him and tortured him for 5 long years. Now he is out of captivity but he is not the fun loving brother that he once was. He wants revenge and he also wants his powers back. Brenna Dunne is his way to get those back and to also save her from the poison that is killing her. Mating is the only way that she can be saved because the doctors say there is nothing else they can do. But will the mating help either of them? And will Jase be able to deal with what happened to him with the Demons?

I love this series so much and I love that there are more members of the Dark Protectors to read about along with keeping up with past books and characters. There is nothing I love more than action with my romance story and Rebecca always has tons. It makes my heart race, keeps me on the edge of my seat and keeps my eyes on my Kindle. This book was hard to put down and I wanted to sneak my Kindle with me where ever I went at work! If you haven't read the Dark Protectors I can't recommend them enough and you should definitely read from the beginning.

I can't wait for the next book because I really want to know more about Lilly, after reading more about her in Shadowed inquiring minds want to know!!

This book was easily a standalone novel. Even though it was obvious that much had gone on in previous books in the series, I never felt confused or left out. Yay! If I had realized this was book #6 I might not have read it, but I didn't realize, and I'm so glad I didn't make the mistake of setting it aside.

Jase, a powerful vampire, has a tortured past, literally tortured when he was captured by demons and imprisoned for 5 years. Now he is on a mission for revenge and he has been requested by the witches' coven to mate with Brenna since the mating of the two might heal her poisoning. Jase is amenable to this idea since he could get some of Brenna's power which would aid him in fighting the demons. Neither expected nor wished to fall in love....

This is a page turning book, chock-a-block full of hot male vampires, sizzling steamy sex scenes, kick ass women and non stop action. Everything I like in a Paranormal romance. Now I'm going to back track and start this series from the beginning. Can't wait to give it a go.

I received this book free from the publisher for review.

Jase Kayrs, the youngest of the infamous Karys' brothers, was always the fun brother with an undeniable sense of humor. Able to find a joke within any given situation, to make even the King crack a smile. Which is what made it so devastating when he was kidnapped by the demons and lost to his family for five years. And when they finally did find him; buried in a shallow grave, left for dead and practically decapitated, his head hanging on by a mere tendon, it was his spirit that had been killed. Gone was the fun-loving Jase, all that was left was a pure Vampire hell-bent on revenge.

Brenna Dunne, the eighth sister, youngest sister of Moira, the seventh sister of a seventh sister, her birth in itself was an anomaly. An eighth sister was unheard of in a Witch family, yet there she was, different from everyone in her family. Some saw her as a curse, others, her family mostly, as a blessing. Seeing as how she never should have been, everything about her has been unpredictable. And on her birthday on the Winter Solstice, when another comet veers toward the earth, as it did on the day of her birth, she will possess insurmountable power, and just blow a whole city up. That is if she lives to see that day.

The most powerful Witch family and the most powerful Vampire family in the Realm decide to form an alliance. What better way to do that than to arrange a mating between these two, hoping that in the process they can both save the others life. What they hadn't planned on was the possibility that fate had already arranged their mating long ago. The only question that truly remains is which emotion is stronger; love or vengeance?

Non-stop action from the beginning til the very end. With a war going on between the Demons and the Vampires as well as with the Kurjans, how could it not?! Readers will once again be sucked into Zanettis' Realm, feeling every emotion right along with the characters', and find their faces practically glued to each page. There is just enough violence, passion, humor and bloodshed to make any vampire lover happy. This entire series' still remains as a definite must read. And keep on the lookout for Tamed, which is due out May 4th.

I really enjoy these books. Rebecca Zanetti does a really spectacular job of building a continuing story over the course of the series, while at the same time, giving each book a fantastic romance and stand alone story. Here, we finally get to the last Kayrs brother, the long tortured and revenge driven Jase.

As the story begins, Jase offers himself up to Brenna in a mating. Longtime readers will remember Brenna from previous stories as Moira's younger sister, who was poisoned back in Hunted. Now, she is dying and only a powerful mate can save her life. Jase thinks the world of the witch and mating her won't just help her... he hopes her powers will help him grow stronger in turn, allowing him to finally destroy the demons who held him prisoner for the past five years. Brenna has a long standing crush on Jase and that, combined with her failing health, makes accepting his offer a no-brainer.

The chemistry between these two is there from the very beginning. I love that their mating takes place almost right away. It allows them to explore their attraction and build on it, though acceptance of more tender feeling takes some time. Jase is determined to fulfill his quest for revenge no matter what the cost. At the same time, Brenna is dealing with an ancient prophecy that threatens her life and wonky powers that she can't quite master. Falling in love and securing a future are things that keep getting pushed from the forefront for both of them. Yet, neither can ignore what is growing between them.

I liked both Jase and Brenna, though at times Jase would overrule her wishes and that drives me a little crazy. I love how determined they both were to heal the other, even though their own Issues got in the way at time. The sex was hot and satisfying, but it didn't overshadow the relationship development. The action is great -the danger never felt manufactured. I didn't want to put it down.

One of my favorite things about these books is how cohesive they are (though they CAN be read as standalones.) All of our favorite characters from previous books play a part. Even the couples from the novellas get shout outs. And Janie's story is front and center. I am dying to see how her story plays out. She is finally all grown up and we get just enough scenes with her, Zane, and Kalin to leave me more desperate for that book than ever. It's almost here. Part of me is crazy-excited, but the other part is a little sad, knowing the series will likely be coming to an end.

If you haven't tried these books before, there is no time like the present.

This series is almost done with Jase's story, who has been physically and psychically tortured for years until he has almost lost himself. The torture scenes were just too intense for me, I had to skim over them, which was a good portion of the book. I don't know why details were important, but there they were. His mate is Moira's younger sister, the 8th sister, completely unknown in the history of witches, and for that reason, basically shunned by the witch society (the exact opposite of what you would otherwise expect). She has been poisoned, she is dying, and the solution is for her to mate Jase, who is far too damaged to really take care of a dying mate, but again, she loves him, so all his bad behavior is OK. He gets her meager powers and improves - yet another female lead totally dominated by the male who abuses her. Not for me - and I can happily recommend Kim Harrison's series featuring Rachel Morgan, a complete series of 13 books which kept getting better and better.

I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. The books grabbed my attention and kept me interesting. The main characters were interesting. Although it is an alpha-male type book, the females retain their intelligence and dignity. I hate that many of the strong or dominant male hero books now reduce women to brainless subs. Its fun to find a title with great romance that doesn't sacrifice a quality story to get it. The sci fi creatures are awesome. The writing is excellent and I cannot wait for the next book.

So, this is only my second book in this series, but its slowly growing on me. While it can be read as a stand alone it's better to read in order cause while I figured out what was going on I was frustrated because I felt as if I was missing the huge significant virus story going on and I had no idea what a Kurjan was until it was explained later in the book. In no way did that really affect the story between Jaws and Brennan though, they kinda had their own crap storm baring down on them. Good book and storyline ; I'm definitely going to have to read the rest of this series.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Book #6 in Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors series is the youngest brother's story Jase Kayrs

After 5 years of being tortured by demons once rescued Jase was never the same. Wanting only one thing Revenge on those enemies who took so much from him. Jase is asked by his big brother Dage The King to mate Brenna Dunne, a witch who is slowly dying for a poison to save her. Jase agrees in hopes to save them both and bring back to powers they both have lost. But the demons aren't through with Jase just yet.

I have to say Shadowed is my favorite Dark Protector yet! Rebecca never fails to pack a punch in her books! When my hands get a hold on her books I can't put them down till I've read it all! Kudos Rebecca, Shadowed was amazing to read and I can't wait to read any of your future books! Fan for life!!

Jase has survived five years of torture by the demons. He's bent but not broken. Now Brenna Dunne, a formerly powerful witch, needs his help as she is dying. Only mating with him will possibly save her. But there's more foul play afoot with the demons and Kurjans. This is fast action with kidnappings, warring attacks, attempted murders, and many beheadings before the solstice and all it brings for Brenna and the Kayrs family. A thoroughly entertaining and exciting book in the Dark Protectors series.

Brenna is the eighth sister of the seventh sister, which has never been heard of in witches. She is slowly dying after being poisoned with the only thing that can hurt witches, plainkite. Jase is the youngest Kayrs brother and is barely healed from his imprisonment for five years by the demons. Brenna and Jase decide to mate, to heal her and help him get his powers back. A comet is passing by Earth and its supposed to give Brenna great powers.
Sex, kidnappings, and love.

I did enjoy this story giving Jase his HEA. I liked at the end of the book how there was a quick reminder of each of the brothers and their mates, I guess to prepare us for the epic finale with Janie. We already jumped ahead several years, I'm ready to end the war and find peace for these brothers. But back to Jase. His story was told with the angst and the redemption and the passion that you would expect. I think it is a good addition to the series.

This author did an excellent job with this story of Jade a d his suffering, him fighting his inner demons and the physical demons that tried to destroy. He learned to loved again and Brenna was by his side. This vampire paranormal is outside of the box in regards to usual vampire stories. I am glad I made a decision to read the dark protectors.

What drama...intense hatred...revenge..all in one. Loved it!! Jase was tortured for 5 years by wraith of Demons and now wants revenge. Jase's brother needs him to marry a witch to align the strength of the witches' and vamps. Jase isn't happy but realizes this may be his chance.. and much more although other things happen he wasn't expecting. ;) Brenna the destined witch he should marry has her own packaged power.. will it be enough.. you need to read.. A do not put down book!

This book twirls around with Jase and Brenna.. Jase a Vampire.. with vengeance on his mind and Brenna a witch trying to find the cure to save her life..
Jase's powers are not all they should be and its believed he will find them once mated, he has had a heck of a time for a Vampire but his family has had his back. Brenna really is a strong willed witch.. who's demise is on someone's mind and so many are out to marry or destroy her.. Really a good read and hate to give up to much.. it will keep you hooked.

Shadowed is an intense, edge of your seat read with action, revenge, romance and a few giggle moments. Rebecca Zanetti is a talented and brilliant writer that amazes me with each new installment of Dark Protector series. A brilliant writer to me is one that can have me biting-my-nails-edge-of-my-seat one moment then the next having me giggling.

I loved the direction Jace story was going. The layers through out are perfect. He is dark, violent, that his only mission in life is to get revenge at the demons who took him away and a ticking bomb just waiting to go off. Little by little he starts to come back to his old fun, charming, playful way. It is Brenna who is able to bring the light in his darkness out.

Brenna is a strong will character who knows how to handle Jace. I thought she was a perfect match for him. Their relationship starts off with both agreeing to mate. Both have their reasons to mate each other. The chemistry is hot with them and it helped that they both have already known each other and already had some kind of interest before. Loved that their is no intsa-love but a couple working at their relationship and falling in love. They are a hot-fan-yourself couple and the first time making love is beautiful as they both have not been with someone sexually in a long time. Both really have to work on their relationship more so Jace than her. His revenge on the demons overpowers him and he at times will choose revenge over his mate. Jace is your typical Kayrs brother with an alpha male attitude. As their relationship grows he becomes possessive and over protective. This attitude does not go well with Brenna. She is use to fighting her own battles and she needs to be at the same level with him. Love the journey of their relationship wondering if he will ever see her as equal and if she will ever come first before his revenge.

As like all of Dark Protector novels get insight on what is going on with the secondary characters. Love these parts. The best parts for me are Janie, Zane and Kalin. Zane fans are not going to want to miss Shadowed.

In Shadowed readers get more of Garrett. Loved his scenes and have to wonder if there is something there with him and one of the wolf cheerleaders. I hope his book is next in Tamed (Dark Protectors #6.5) due out May 2014, as I think the name fits his character at the moment.

Rebecca Zanetti does it again. i have enjoyed Jase since the first book in the Dark Protectors series. The story continues with Jase and Brenna making a contract to mate in order to save each others lives. Jase has always been the fun brother but after being kidnapped years ago by the demons Jase came back a changed vamp..Brenna was kidnapped and forced to drink poison which was deadly to witches and she has been slowly dying for the last five years. Rebecca brings you up to date with all the Kayrs men and there mates and families .also the demons, Kurjans and virus-27 are back. There are intense moments, very funny moments, and the romance is well written.if you like paranormal please get this series it will soon be on your favorite list...
