Received the book in the condition described. Smooth transaction. No complaints. If you're ordering books for the new semester... trust this buyer no need to worry the book will arrive as described and on time. The cover of this book does not have a glossy finish like most hardcover books. It has more of a matte finish and has an unusually soft coating when you run your hands on the hardcover feels like a thin powdery surface. Doesn't slip out of your hands when you are in a hurry and on the go... because of that type of material used on the cover. Overall it's a very durable book. For the upcoming semester I'm definitely going to check these guys out again, and I recommend you should too.

I am renting this book for a college level government course I'm taking this fall. Its in really great shape and It was delivered exactly on the date the store had estimated.
I look forward to learning and being able to rent this for ~$45 vs buying it and have it sit on my self for $120 or however much it'd be to purchase new.

I understand that biases are going to happen, specially when it comes to politics. However, I believe that the best method of teaching political sciences is to teach both sides of an argument, and allow the students to develop their own opinions. How are we to learn to make good political choices with today's media if we don't learn to look at both sides carefully. The opinions of the authors of this book are very apparent, and strategically placed to highlight them. Little is given about the opposing arguments, specially when it comes to our growing federal government, civil rights and liberties. These are our most current issues and hot topics, and should show the least bias. I personally believe it is difficult to learn sound reasoning with politics when the propaganda related to the authors opinions is so loud.

Started reading for my class but ended up reading for than I needed to.
Very informative and easy-to-understand review on our government.
Book is organized well
It has really helped me understand the government to the point where I can talk politics around the dinner-table now without being afraid that I sound naive. Government news and shows are easier to understand now that I have a background to the governmental systems that I never learned about in high school.

Book in good condition and no problem with the book as it is printed and constructed. Unfortunately, the text does a disservice to those who would be educated on the subject especially if they are not participants in understanding and studying history.

I purchased this book for school and because it was cheaper than the hardcover edition that they sold at the school bookstore. Turns out that there are sections missing and pages out of order compared to the hardcover edition. I got a 'C' in the class with this book. It was hard to follow the teacher when he sited parts of the book. I had to look at my neighbor's book to figure out what the page looked like that I was trying to find. Get the hardcover edition. It costs more, but it's like the old addage, "...you get what you pay for...".

8th essentials edition and 8th Texas edition are completely different. I was somewhat able to use this for class but kept needing to hit the library for it. This being said, it's a good book and was in great shape.

The book is falling apart before my eyes. I rented this book for a college class and the book is barely held together in the middle and even a few pages are coming out. The only thing holding the covers together is the laminate

Nice pictures and good at explaining things. I was required to buy the book for a class, not a very fun class, but the book helped a lot! the chapter lengths very so read ahead if you're in college :)
