Gosh. I loved this book. The part about foster care because I have 9 kids, some adopted through foster care. The love as kids and teenagers. The whole premise of the book written about her. The end. All of it. So good.

Good book recommended by a friend. I’ve read other books by this author and was excited to read another one. I read the book in two sittings (had to work otherwise it would have been one sitting). While not my favorite by her, I still give the book 4 or 4.5 stars. Characters were likeable and many poignant moments. Will definitely read more by her Overall good read!

After reading Colleen Hoover's endorsement of this book,it was a no brainer, read this book! Loved the flow of the book between present day and the main character reading a book about her childhood . Could have read it faster, wanted to savor it !
Damaged :: Surrender (Harris Brothers Book 4) :: Bossy Nights :: The Baby Maker's Club :: Bring Down the Stars (Beautiful Hearts Duet Book 1)

An adorable, sad and romantic story about life, love and coming to terms with the past. What happens after love is lost? How do we learn from it? And is it really lost? A touching story that will make you swoon, smile and cry. But you will not put it down.

I picked up this book based on a recommendation. I had no idea what it was about before I started reading and I wasn't able to put it down until I devoured every last word. This story puts you on a feels rollercoaster that is magical and wonderful in every way possible.

Loved the story within a story masterpiece of a book. The author created some complex characters with lots of hurts and hangups and also incorporated a book within the real life story to add even more depth. So glad I was recommended this book!

WOW, truly a sensational story. I love how essentially two stories were woven into one. This book broke my heart and then put it back together again. I read it one sitting and it's been a week and I'm still thinking about it. Fantastic read!

I was instantly intrigued by this book when I read the synopsis. I read the book quickly. I loved Em and Jace/Jax. The book was predictable but I loved all of it. The book within a book was a new type of read for me and i wasn't disappointed.

What a great story...it's refreshing to read something that is different. An unusual storyline that leads to that HEA that we all love by all means necessary. Wonderful work Ms. Carlino, you've acquired a new fan :)

This book was the most beautiful read of 2016 for me. Renee Carlino has crafted a heartwrenchingly beautiful book about love, life and forgiveness - letting go of past hurts to heal the present. This easily will be a novel I will read, re-read and re-re-read. Thank you to Ms. Carlino for sharing her gift with readers. Do yourself a favor, and read this book!

This book is missing twenty pages in the middle! I bought this in June so I am not allowed to return it, but I moved this summer and just started reading this book this month. It literally goes from page 117 to page 135. SO annoying!

I liked the premise for this story, it was interesting and unique. A book within a book! Really enjoyed the characters and their development as the story progressed. I found myself getting attached to them. Books don't often make me cry but this one brought out the tears! I think this would be a great pick for a book club, lots of discussion points. One of my favorites this year - highly recommend!

Renee Carlino is pure magic! Every time I delve into a new book from her, I think this this the best one, but then I'm continually amazed and taken away by the next piece that she bring to us.
Imagine someone loving you so much, they write a book for you, about you..... maybe, but how beautiful and special you must be to that person to have them write a book for you, to help you, heal you and just love you. What kind of magic that must be! Jase and Em have that in this story within a story that is told and spread out over a lifetime together and apart. I fell in love with the Jase in the book and the "real" life Jase. He was kind, loving and a real hero that every girl should aspire to have one day. What kind of love that must be, to hold on like that, to have someone protect, love and hold me to such esteem as he did his Em. I loved the way in which he adored her even from such a young age. Em, was so brave and incredibly strong. What amazed and saddened me most was that she didn't even have a clue how magical she really was. Jase and Em went through so much in their young lives, more than any kid should ever have to, but during it all they held on to one another and tired to stay strong. They were always better and stronger together than apart. I loved the emotion in this book, I loved the thoughts it provoked, the emotion, the belief that love and friendship is really enough. Forgiveness, was a running theme in this book, it's something that I tend to struggle with personally, I loved how it was approached in this book, with the different characters for Em, how she engaged with them, when she knew it was time and they why of approaching them. It's given me something to think about and hold onto. Thank you Ms. Carlino for that! A beautiful book, and a must read!! I can't even say anymore what my favorite book is of this authors, I know that I have read them all, and will continue to do so. I know that this book was beautiful and one of my top books of this year. I will be eagerly waiting as always to see what this amazing lady will bring to us next!

This was a good book. It dealt with serious themes like child abuse and neglect. I enjoyed it while I was reading it, but then immediately forgot it. I think that is why I am having such a hard time writing a review, nothing about it stands out.

I fell for this book hard. Captivating, enthralling, original, intense, memorable. Serendipitous I really like that word, a favorite one that aptly describes this second chance romance of sorts. I honestly was hanging on wondering what would happen. It's pretty an entangled tale of two childhood best friends who lost their way.

I'll be keeping this as spoiler free and vague as possible since the anticipation of what will unfold will keep you glued. It's a book within a book of a real story that only two people know. But why it's done, the feelings tied up with it and a whole slew of questions accompany that. Connecting with Em and Jason was so easy but the journey ahead not, it had land mines yet it was catharthic, discovery, love, endurance and meaning. As a reader I was engrossed and on what would happened next yet I somehow I worried too.

I empathized with Em and Jase as the story unfolded, the bond and feelings they had for each other and difficulty of things to overcome. One of the things I adored from their childhood is that strong friendship. The hurts and wounds that need to be healed and finding each other again. So many circumstances that stood in their way at the time. They needed to face the facts and truths (as hard as it is) of the past, let things go in order to get to the future.

Renee delivered a story that hits you hard, brilliantly done and felt in each word. It came together beautifully, well crafted, complex and deep characters that she brings to her stories. A love story that stood the test of time and distance and heart ache. I absolutely loved this, Jase and Em I couldn't get enough.

I read review after review about this book on how it was a must read. I love Renee Carlino's other books. So I knew this one would be just as fantastic.
From the first few swipes of my kindle I fell into the story. I automatically did not feel the connection between Emi and Trevor.
As the story moves forward I felt the void Jase had left her with...
I loved their childhood story. I felt compassion for the hard childhood life they had to endure. It saddened me the years were not in touch with one another. They obviously were meant to be.
It's a beautiful love as story. A story I didn't want it to end. Just like she was taking her time to finish reading THEIR book.

It is a must read. I read it in a day. I loved it. I laughed. I cried with her. I loved with her too. Jase is great. Together they are the BEST.

GO READ IT!

Unfortunately I lost interest half way through the book. Its was good. I'm always weary reading books with such high ratings because it always sets the standards up high and often times I end up disappointed.
