The I LOVE YOU Book

The book itself, and the message are beautiful. My four-year-old wants to read it over and over, and she makes up her own pages in keeping with the book's wording: "I love you when...." I love it :)

We are foster parents for infants and I have bought numerous copies of this book for all our babies, to read to them while we have them and to take home for their parent's benefit. I also take the book to baby showers and give it to every new baby I come across!

Todd Parr is one of my favorite authors and illustrators for young children. His signature artwork is bright and bold and very child friendly. His books are well known for their universal themes and for helping to build children’s confidence. The I Love You Book is a standout because it reinforces the message to children that they will be loved no matter what. The simple text and colorful illustrations capture moments that will be familiar to many children. “I love you when you are silly./ I love you when you are sad. / I love you when you are scared. / I love you when you are brave.” Children will leave this book feeling reassured that the people in their lives will love them no matter what. Parr always ends his books with a letter to the reader with a positive message. In this book, he writes, “We all need to be loved. There’s enough love for everyone to share. Remember to always love yourself!” An important message to all to not only love others, but also love the unique person you are. A perfect story to share with any child.

The I Love You Book is a children's picture book targeted for birth to four years of age. Going through the motions of parents saying "I love you when", and fitting it into scenarios throughout the day.

This adventure will be sure to wrap loving words around your child and demonstrate the various tasks we do daily, good or bad, in an understandable way to young readers. It has always been my opinion that you can never say "I love you" enough to a child and this book enlightens that. The illustrations are simple and colorful drawings, that may have been done on a child's mentality, only making it more interesting for the targeted age. A recommended read!

This is another lovely book by San Francisco's own Todd Parr. He always seems to capture the spirit of childhood so well with his sweet and sometimes silly books and drawings. We love reading this book to our daughter and she loves following along with the colorful pictures.

I personally do no like this graphics but still give it 5 stars because both my kids 2 year old and 6 year old like it. It introduces basic concepts - emotions and opposites - like happy/sad, scared/brave, stinky/clean in a clear way that babies understand, and my 6 year old finds this book funny - it makes them giggle and smile when we read it. My 2 year old often picks this book from the shelf to read. The last page contains the main idea of the book - Most of all I love you just the way you are.
