The characters in this book were not only unlikeable, but unbelievable; so unbelievable, in fact, that I was unable to suspend disbelief. I finished the book just to tally up the outlandish and ridiculous plot twists. I was not disappointed (as to outlandish and ridiculous). Many sections elicited laughter from me, so in that sense the book was entertaining. I doubt that was an intended reaction. The author’s medical knowledge, including abilities of newborns, was sorely lacking. A little research in that area would have helped. I’m glad I didn’t pay for this book.

I really loved this novel! It was finely crafted, polished, & wonderfully readable. The characters were tragically flawed yet sympathetic. The plot was realistic & suspenseful. There were many moments when I wondered who would live and who would die.
I’ve never read this author’s work before. I was so impressed with this novel, I plan on reading additional novels by Mr. Thayer.

Can’t really even describe it. You’ll just have to read it yourself!! From the beginning, there were so many twists and turns and deceptions that it was almost unbelievable. Every character is both a protagonist and antagonist. You don’t know if you should feel sorry for them or be mad at them. It reminded me of the old saying “oh what a tangled web we weave when we first choose to deceive...”

This is a story about a group of truly dysfunctional people. Crazy would be a better title. Absolutely hated the ending. Really by the end I didn't care what happened to any of them. Just not my cup of tea.

I found myself drawn into this story more and more, and eventually couldn’t wait to find time to read it each day. While there are some lapses in believability, overall I was happy to overlook them because I was enjoying the ride. And unlike another reviewer, I did not find the ending predictable at all; it seemed it could have gone in a number of directions.

Labeled a thriller, but it certainly wasn't. The only likeable character was the infant, and she was only a pawn for the adults. I kept reading long after I stopped caring what happened to the narrator's because I thought something thrilling was supposed to happen. It didn't. The writer's style was decent, but overall, I kind of wish I had never read the book.

I enjoyed the first person style of writing for each of the characters and the plot twisted well to let each character develop and allow me also to develop a personal comfort or discomfort with each one. Daily choices should be made with thought and prayer, and it was obvious none of these characters did either. Fun book with disturbing ethics

In this cast of characters there is not single human with an ounce of goodness or courage. Rather than walk away from this story of a train wreck I read on to see what happened to this pathetic example of human beings. The answer is not enough as they almost agree that there will continue to be pain and punishment for their immoral nature.

I really enjoyed this delicious book. None of the characters are likeable and it is interesting to have window in to their lives watching the destruction taking place. It is like witnessing a car crash, being unable to stop watching knowing that not all will survive. Lots of twists & turns & the title ends up being the surprise.

This book had my interest from the first chapter. While there are plot twists that stretch credulity, the characters are believable. They are all deeply flawed in twisted ways. But the author does a fantastic job of developing the characters so the reader understands the craziness. By the end I was sympathizing with all of them.

Completely unrealistic! Apparently the author doesn't know about hospital procedures and should not attempt writing them.. In addition, what man is going to bring his wife to the hospital room of his misstress, after she has just delivered his child. There so many of scenario a in this book that are so unbelievable that it makes this book so not worth reading!!The

I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time reading this outlandish, boring account of personal moral decay. I can’t recall reading a worse book! Next time I peg one this awful I’ll go back to abandoning books in the 3rd chapter if they are bad. Run! Read a GOOD book - not this one. It was a free read but so not worth my time...

After plowing through the first several chapters thinking what have I done to deserve reading all this disfunctionality, this book turned on the intrigue and the duplicity started and never stopped. I have recommended this book to several family members as a must read. The lesson I have learned is to never give up on a story too early.

It held my interest but seemed almost like a soap opera in that unbelievable things happened. Also, the references to Ann Elise were impossible actions of a newborn. Such as her giggleing and smiling. But the storyline was good. It was a good first attempt of writing a novel for Thayer.

I wanted to connect to the characters and I wanted to feel invested in their stories, but I just couldn't get there. Something about the plots and the way the characters intertwined just struck me as so far fetched that I found myself rolling my eyes more than I was anxiously turning pages.

This was just too ridiculous. I read the entire book and still can't believe I wasted my time on it. The characters were just so unbelievable and unlikeable that it was impossible to really get into the story, which, like one of your reviewers said, "Could have been told in 20 minutes."

This book had many twists and surprises that kept me intrigued. Every character was certainly flawed and it made we wonder who I was routing for which kept changing.
There were still unanswered questions at the end that I wish i had more closure with but still enjoyed this book a lot.

I know this was the first attempt by this author, but I had a hard time getting through this book because so much of it seemed to be written for a young, naive teenager. I could easily figure out the plot well before it was laid out which I thought was very simplistic with too many cliches.

There was not one iota of tedium or mediocrity in this book. There were twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. I’m knocking off one star only because I found the characters unlikable and unsympathetic. But if you’re looking for a psychological thriller that’s unpredictable and fast-paced, this is your book.

I hope this world is not home to such manipulative, immature, self-centered characters as portrayed in this book. In addition to none of the characters being likeable, it is was hard to follow the thought and what the character was saying. I had to read some sentences twice.

It was difficult to feel for the characters. I felt like each of them were all over the place. The plot was interesting and kept you hooked but I just couldn't get into the minds of the characters and their motives. Their actions just didn't seem to make sense sometimes.

This book is filled with a cast of unlikeable sociopaths, unrealistic situations, and silly dialogue. I read the whole thing, just waiting for the magic moment where it would all make sense. It never did for me. You truly need to set aside reality to read this book.

It was okay. Didn’t like any of the characters, and none were well developed. Socialite falls for non-affluent guy, years of marriage can’t produce a desperately wanted baby. Guy strays and fathers a baby with a waitress who has a troubled past and white trash family. Was mildly surprised by the ending.

This book was advertised as a "thriller". I found it to be more of a farce. I saw a great deal of humor in this book. The ending was poorly done. I felt like the author had decided to end the book and quickly ended it. It's not a bad read, but certainly no thriller.

The premise of this book is interesting. However, it’s totally unbelievable and there are a lot of inaccuracies, especially in the hospital scenes. Who would really think that a husband would bring his wife to the hospital to meet his mistress just after she has given birth? And what new mother wouldn’t just freak out? The characters were all unlikable and shallow. The dialogue was stilted. I finished it, but only because it was like a train wreck that I couldn’t turn away from. Don’t waste your time. 2 stars instead of 1 only because the premise was interesting.

The story took several twists and turns and with each one I became more disappointed. I kept reading hoping for something better in the storyline. I would have expected something better from a Christian writer. I would not recommend reading this book.
