Tijan never disappoints and Crew is by no means an exception. These characters will grow on you to the point where you think about then when you should be doing something else... like working. Haha. Do yourself a favor and read this and every other book Tijan has written.

This book had everything. The characters where amazing. You could feel every emotion they had. The emptiness of failure to the elation of success. It showed how family can screw up but still work to reconnect. It showed that family wasn't just blood. It showed loyalty. Great read.

But I did not. It was massively disappointing, especially considering the glowing reviews. The plot is silly and unrealistic. Unrealistic in a way that you can't just accept. The main characters are immature - which, ok, they're high school students - but the adults are even worse. Which resulted in a *long* book of unbelievable, unrelatable characters.

This book also really magnifies a continuing flaw in Tijan's writing - characters magically know things that aren't evident to the reader. Not in a this-thing-happened-in-the-past way. But in a I-deduced-this-based-on-logic-and-evidence way... Except theres no foundation - theres no logic or evidence. It makes for a somewhat confusing, disjointed read. It leaves me with the impression that the author wants something to happen, but can't be bothered to figure out a logical way for that to happen. So she just forces it and then has all the characters act like it makes sense. And while that has been true of her other books, most of them had likeable characters or interesting relationships that made you a little more forgiving.

This book is a hard pass. Don't bother.
