Great book! Extremely honest and real world coaching insight. I got the feeling Brett could go much deeper if need be, but kept some of the content brief toward the end (probably editor influence) but it was perfect summary and points!

Conscious Coaching does a great job at simplifying the personality traits of athletes we coach and how to effectively optimize performance from a psychological standpoint based on research and practical experience of other high level coaches.
A must add to the coaches library.

Amazing book tackling a topic not often covered in our industry. Has helped me develop my coaching and reflect on most of my own practices. Highly recommend this book to any coach really looking to connect and truly develop their athletes or clients.

Not only does this book break down important coaching concepts, but Brett's openness and honesty about his own coaching journey makes you understand that he has put the work in to be a great coach himself. This is a very important topic that isn't discussed enough, and this book will get you thinking about your own coaching style. Performance coaches at all levels will benefit from Conscious Coaching!

I honestly think this should be required reading for any strength & conditioning coach or physical therapist. Shoot, maybe even any healthcare professional. Any training program, treatment , or intervention you are trying to implement to help a client or patient is only as good as their willingness to buy-in!

Excellent book. Much different than most training books you'll read, but incredibly relevant. The psychology of training is real and Coach Bartholomew's book does an EXCELLENT job of introducing you to the subject while providing relevant and realistic examples that will help you apply the concepts to your clients and athletes! Highly recommend!

A must read for coaches, trainers, teachers and the like - understanding yourself and your subjects is an imperative skillset for teaching success. Brett has left us with an absolute gem with this coaching manifesto - a rare insight into a practical view of coaching, sports psychology, and coaching acumen development.

Conscious Coaching highlights and embodies the paradigm shift that is taking place in the strength and conditioning community. Brett does a tremendous job of exploring the multiple avenues it takes to work with people, both on the individual, group, and team level. The platform of coach has a new guidebook- this is it.

I have just recently gotten into Brett's work and I have to say, I was a fan immediately. The same goes for this book. While it's not your traditional X's and O's book it looks into much bigger (and neglected) areas of coaching. This book is a must have for any type of coach, teacher or leader
Cheers!

This should be in every coach's toolbox. I reference it weekly to think about my student athletes and where we are/where I want to go next. The description of the archetypes really helped me think about them in a different way and connect with them on an even deeper level.

"Conscious Coaching" by Brett Bartholomew...Brett brings to life the all too often disregarded aspect of coaching: the coach-athlete(s) relationship, aka interpersonal communication. It's easy for coaches to get lost in the numbers and regimented life that often comes from their career path, but the one thing we must always remember and place in the forefront of our consciousness is the relationships we are either "building" or "breaking" with our athletes/clients.
Here are a few quotes that really struck me (the underlying principles w/in them are pure gold):
"I need to meet them where they are so we can work together to achieve their goals. Simply telling someone what to do hardly ever yields positive long-term results."
--
"We may never see the finished product, but we are part of building something much greater and more significant than ourselves."
--
"When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier."
--
Know your values, meet them where they are, build relationships first, then programs, and always remember you are working for something bigger than yourself.

As a government employee for over 35 years, I had the privilege of leading a staff of overall 85 professionals towards achieving a unified common goal of helping as many out of of work, sick, injured or retired individuals as we could. As any leader knows, this path is filled with not only struggles and successes, but also situations that call for a unique ability to "seek to understand" and connect with people in ways that matter to them as opposed to those that only fit within your agenda. This book touches on the finer aspects of human nature, and guides the reader by sharing real-life examples and "Trust Tenets" (strategies) that can be used in such scenarios. Highly recommend to anyone.

Absolutely amazing book. Makes you feel respected and worthy that one of the greats thinks like all of us coaches who actually care about their athletes outside of just the sporting content.
Insane amount of detail to every aspect of coaching and types of athletes we deal with every day.
To help others is one thing but forming relationships, respect and trust is something that not enough of us do as coaches these days but being the catalyst and helping somebody outside of their sporting environment is absolutely essential as a coach and a good human being. No better way to learn about it but from this book.
Hats off Brett, absolutely amazing!!
