Family Relationships
Review:Poetic prose and vivid imagery make this a great read about the struggles of a family dealing with a horrible tragedy. The reader cannot help but mourn and hurt along with the flawed characters, and hope for healing. Read more
Review:Amazing story that gripped me till the very end. Ms. Pat is an inspiration to all women and those who weren’t born with a silver spoon. No matter what, never, ever, ever give up is a great motto for this riveting book! I couldn’t put it down and loved the various characters who influenced Ms. Pat. A true window to poverty on a whole new level. Read more
Review:Sounded like an interesting book to read and perhaps share with my daughter who is off to college. I was disappointed. Book is boring and uninteresting. The one star is for the book design and artwork. Don't waste your money Read more
Review:The book makes many religious references and is not geared toward male same-sex relationships. I expected the book to be general and mention, "them, they, their" pronouns instead of constantly declaring a male/female relationship. I bought the book because I receive their emails and they don't mention gender at all in them of which is why I bought the book. But I am going to return it due to these two factors. Read more
Review:Everything stated in this book is good advice and combines all the little snippets I heard from various concerned friends and family. So if you are really tired and lost and just don't feel like hearing people talk, I suggest reading this book in one afternoon.
It served as a reinforcement of all the things various people have already told me, and they all make sense just that sometimes when your mother tells you things, even though you know deep down that they are true, you just feel lik... Read more
Review:I have been dealing with an adult niece (daughter of my deceased brother) for 2 years now. Unbeknownst to me, I had become an enabler to her on and off drug use and in general. This book spoke straight to me--gave me so much insight about how to deal with her from this point on. Highly recommend to anyone whose heart is breaking after trying to "help" your dysfunctional adult children!! Read more
Review:This book is and an easy read. Following Mr. Goolrick's journey it is hard to understand how someone can heal from the horrific trials of a wounded childhood; yet bringing the secrets out of their hiding places begins the process of healing. Hopefully, many other survivors of 'painful parenting' will find this book and rip their own secrets wide open. Read more
Review:I've recommended to so many people. Could hardly put down. I real eye opener. I'd say a must read. I'd say it's important to read Etched in Sand first. Remarkable story of the survival and success of these siblings in spite a horrific upbringing. Read more
Review:Inspirational and comforting, this book puts into perspective the blessings of the America we live in today. We so easily complain about the struggles of today, while not recognizing the opportunities of tomorrow. The honest, clean living, hard working can, and do have more opportunities than obstacles. Those of us with "hard ass" parents need to read this book. Read more
Review:This book is okay, but I'm occasionally bothered by an underlying assumption that all boys are essentially the same. I've been around plenty long enough to watch and ponder how the men around me turned out. Where they found their place / what way of being was comfortable and right for them. There is much greater diversity in maleness than the author accounts for. Read more
