Review:I listened to the book on tape as an adult and it not only inspired and moved me, it actually challeneged me to further explore Alaska and wolves in general. A well deserved "classic" status, along with The Hatchet and other gritty young adult novels. Read more
Review:What a fantastic book.
We are introduced to 16 year old Amel that has just begun Dragon school. No big deal you say?? Anel has always dreamt of flying and becoming a dragon rider and won't let anything get in her way, not even her crippled leg. She has a heart of gold and wants to live life on her terms.
I honestly can say that I loved Amels tenasity. She has been belittled and made fun of and yet she was the most determined and compassionate young lady never letting anyone tell her what s... Read more
Review:This started as a comic book like but interesting story. But the "glitch, pow, hurk!" Became overwhelmingly inane and the story ran around the same circles over and over again. With some vicious editing it might have made a good book or two, but ten?!!!
I started skipping whole books just to get to the resolution. How does Nath get over being vain and childish and bringing his friends to disaster over and over again without learning anything?? Sadly, in the end he just _does_. No real ... Read more
Review:I'm currently reading the "Universe in a Nutshell" by Stephen Hawking. I find this book book far more interesting then this book. The book was well written but it just gets boring after a while when you can predict absolutely everything that happens in the book. The book is absolutely cheese. I also have a theory as to why I didn't like the book was because I'm reading it for school and I don't ever read this genre of book normally or at all. I'm also only 14. Read more
Review:This was an amazing series that connects both storyline and hearts. I read the Giver when I was younger as a school requirement and read it again as an adult and I've enjoyed it even more. Wonderfully written, I'm now eagerly awaiting if the movie can do The Giver justice. Read more
Review:Emporer Mage is a awesome book, I've reread it about two or three times, and I'll probably reread some more! I love Tamora Pierce's books, I recheck them out at the library a lot. I love how, in this book she goes to Carthak and heals the emporer's birds, it is just SO awesome. I love how she gets right into the story and explains things as she goes along, this is one of my favorite books. I think it is neat how she gets all mad over getting told Numair was killed. I love how she ruined... Read more
Review:Rebekah "Beka" Cooper is now a Dog, a fully qualified member of Provost's Guard, which is basically the police force in Corus, the capital of Tortall. Beka is a natural at Dog work, she's observant and persistent, but her magical traits set her apart from the rest, she has the ability to gain information from the spirits that attach themselves to pigeons and the dust and dirt that swirl on the ground called dust spinners. These skills along with the help from the company she keeps make Beka a sk... Read more
Review:reading/watching the relationship between the four is like watching a train wreck! they were in complete discord, even when they seem to be having FUN in the arguments with each other there was like an underlying sense of, i don't know, anger? disaster? if anyone thinks in musical terms, it's like badly clashing notes with nothing to smooth it over. They were each in their on little pool of self pity and 'my experience was worse than yours' i just wanted to smack them all in the face. Not to men... Read more
Review:Tamora Pierce has outdone herself, with a book in this saga that brings more magic and religion from her other works. It is long and thirst quenching. I'm glad to see that she doesn't need to break apart her books into smaller ones. Read more
Review:This was the best book in the series and a wonderful way to bring this series to a close. Daine and Numair travel to the realms of the gods(hence the title) where Daine finally meets her father. She is reunited with her mother who has becomed a lesser god. Her mother wants Daine to live with her, but it is important for Daine and Numair to return back to their world with trouble brewing in Tortall. They must journey to the Dragonlands and run into many obstacles along the way. In the end t... Read more
