Worship & Devotion
Review:This is a wonderful book and a wonderful author. Very helpful at a time I needed it, and lifted many life-limiting burdons from me. Not a fan of self help books but this woman has something special in her helpful style. I'm gifting it to friends now and I found the value a plus here at Amazon. Read more
Review:i really loved this book. I was especially glad of the Scriptural references to the things the author stated. I had lost my own dog 3 years ago to old age and sickness and was so happy to be reassured that I will be seeing him again. In reading this book, I felt like I really knew the author and could identify with the grief he felt at the loss of his pet. This is a great book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves dogs (or any other pets for that matter). Read more
Review:There was just a disconnect between what I was expecting and what the book was. The experience parts of the book were very captivating. The rest was not what I picked up the book for so I kept fading out on those parts. Read more
Review:I purchased all of the books by Gary Thomas after listening to him give a presentation on marriage. I am not exactly sure what I think about his first book that I just finished reading. This book lists the many different "pathways" that people have with regards to worshiping the one true god. It is NOT a book about many different pathways to god...
He does have some good information in this book but for me this was presented with entirely too many non-biblical ideas and ideas taken fro... Read more
Review:My girlfriend and I bought this and have been doing it fairly consistently for the past 5 months or so and love it. It's hard to find anything for the 'dating' couple, but we found this just as useful if you are serious with your partner about marriage (as we are, we're getting engaged next month!). We have been challenged by it and enjoy it quite a bit. Sometimes I find the style in which Thomas writes can be a little hard to read aloud and can trip you up if you're reading it to someone. N... Review:John Ortberg writes well. This was an interesting book. I purchased it for a Bible study.
I didn't not get far in the book and did not stay in this particular study. This book attempts to give you the feeling that Jesus was a *man* and did things like we do while he was here. It totally and completely says that Jesus is GOD who came to us as man. It does stick to the Christian doctrine completely. But John wants you to feel Jesus as being a human, like we are, to understand that we can ... Read more
Review:I loved learning the stories behind my favorite hymns. How wonderful to learn something of what inspired these Christians to pen the words and music that live through the ages. This would be a wonderful help to Sunday School teachers. IMO Read more
Review:This little booklet is intense.
For anyone who wanders through the bookstore, Christian or secular, wanting something to read that will break them out of a Victim Mindset, this is the book for you.
Couple this book with James Allen's As a Man Thinketh, and the reader will change his life around in a manner of days, if he/she just puts these principles to work.
I love Charles Capps' booklet, ... Read more
Review:Max Lucado manages to illuminate, with humor and reality, the world's most familiar psalm. Breaking down Psalm 23 verse by verse, Lucado teaches what the words really mean, and what they mean to believers. This book is suitable for small group study as well as for individual reading and reflection. Read more
Review:This book can be life changing! Realizing that it is God who gives the desire and ability to surrender to Him, and to maintain that surrender, teaches that it is not about holding on with gritted teeth, but open hands and heart in surrender to Him. I highly recommend this book! Read more
