The Shack: Reflections for Every Day of the Year
The Shack: Reflections for Every Day of the Year

Review:I usually rate things higher; not really a middle of the road kind of person. And giving it a "it's okay" rating is simply because of my personal preferences in a Daily Reflection book. I loved the original book! Read it like 3 times! I was hoping this would go deeper into the spiritual side of what was behind all of this.

The book looks really nice on my coffee table! It's laid out nicely too. Read more

A Year-Long Quest for Spiritual Formation - and Activation
A Year-Long Quest for Spiritual Formation - and Activation

Review:Honestly? I am basically a lover of McLaren books. I find them challenging and well writen. This one however is more of a very predictable bible study than a challenging book about a Christian issue deserving careful consideration. The questions on the end of each chapter were also rather predictable. I suppose the book is just to be used for devotional reading in conservative Christian families settings. Not primarily for theological reflection. Read more

The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone

Review:In this age of disconnection how do we find belonging ? Dr. Brenè Brown presents practical tools for finding a way to belong to yourself first, then to each other.
The premise of the book is the wilderness is the place we step out from the crowd and stand alone in our integrity . Hard to do its a thankless place sometimes but if we rare willing to risk not fitting in, we will find out how to belong to our own hearts.
One quote that resonated with me:

Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship

Review:The book, "Barking to the Choir" is a spectacularly moving book. I wrote notes on many of the pages as I read the book. In fact, I was so mesmerized, I purchased five more copies to give to others. The messages of the book deeply reached me personally and for the work that I do. Read more

The End of Reason: A Response to the New Atheists
