Review:Excellent book. After my wifes stroke I learned more than I ever wanted to know about the brain. I'm glad I did as it made the transition easy. The stroke changed our lives and the book gave us the tools to make the changes easier. Read more
Review:I got this book back in December, started following the diet very strictly, was also seeing a neurologist who started me on a preventative medication. The first week of no caffeine and no pain pills was horrible, but I went from taking triptans and/or excedrin multiple days a week to now less than twice a month. I still get headaches, but they are much more manageable with OTC medication, and triptans only as a last resort. I wish there was a newer version of the book- the recipes in the back ar... Read more
Review:I don't have the credentials for an authoritative review, but M.D.'s and med students love this book and so do I as a pathophysiology book. It explains in real easy to read terms what my textbook by Barbara Gould definitely cannot do. Read more
Review:I'm disappointed and will likely be returning this edition of the classic and groundbreaking Gray's Anatomy.
Quite simply, the book is too small and the typeface is approaching microfilm size font.
I hate to complain but this is not the first time I have had this type of disappointment with a book from Amazon. It's like the books are printed to order on a poor quality printer. Gone are the days when a book could be a sensual experience with that new pages smell, the thick paper, th... Read more

Review:This book was amazing! It defines the role of genes as being dynamic, not static. When building the human genome, people had the idea that there is a fixed template called DNA. Initially, it seems to me, science likes to simplify everything, believing mutations are rare and random. This book clarifies the role of our genes' ability to adapt to different environments and how some genetic variations that seem to be curses are actually the mechanisms humans use to be able to survive in certain ... Review:I received this book very quickly(within 3 days), even during the holiday season. I was so anxious to receive this book. I had seen him on the Dr.Oz show and started following his advice about 500 calories a day 2 days out of the week and that alone has helped my A1c fall from 8 to 5.5 in the past 9 months. So now looking forward to trying more of his suggestions.. Read more
Review:Content wise...I found the book well researched but very dry. Research material like this is difficult to use on the Kindle. I prefer to flip thru pages reading what interests me...going back and forth.
I would have preferred a less scholarly treatment of the medial effects of cannabis. It was too hard to plow thru to get the facts and summaries that I wanted. Read more
Review:Arguably every reader of this review has been sick and seen by doctor at least once in his/her life. For us nonMDs it is critical to learn different ways how MDs are analyzing the situation and arriving to the conclusions. Read more
Review:This book exceeded my expectations even though I do own many other FOR DUMMIES books. It starts out on what your body is made of and how cells reproduce and create energy. After a decent introduction to some cell biology it moves through each system of your body and tells you all about it and at the end list some common disorders and problems associated with it. I learned a lot about myself and how my body works. I would recommend for anybody interested in a good introduction to Anatomy & Ph... Read more
