Review:I suspect that reading this book would be better than the audio version. The author reads her own work and, while I have certainly heard worse narrators, I have also heard much better. The author uses some inflection but her voice is general dull and heavy. Still, for listeners with an interest in sharks, it may be worth the time, even though nothing really spectacular happens nor does the author give a lot of details about the sharks. It is mainly about what happens to her when she visits s... Read more
Review:Dame Sheldrick has had an amazing life, no doubt. However, being a patron of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and an elephant fosterer, I was looking forward to a story about her relationship with elephants and how she hit on the formula that finally enabled her to keep these precious orphans alive. That and pretty much everything else in this autobiography are glossed over and dealt with at a very shallow level. I was left feeling unsatisfied. I wanted more detail. This book is worth rea... Review:Susan Orlean obviously did a lot of research, which is spewed back at the reader. Sadly, the book is a confused cross between local history and cultural analysis. Reads like an extended version of a lesser New Yorker piece. That said,I did learn how to transport orchids after primary bloom. Read more
Review:DONT BUY THIS BOOK. I read all the reviews before I did and I thought this book would be an amazing addendum to my self work...then I hit a speedbump. Waldemen & Newberg's stance on anger is disappointing. Anger is an emotional reaction that needs to be dealt with. Unfortunately, he does not recommend any strategies..but dismisses it as some aberration that we are afflicted with and he himself has it.....or at least reflects it in his handling of a story about a business and a therapist. I f... Read more
Review:This book contains essential information for anybody interested in maintaining good emotional and physical health and taking appropriate measures in preventing Alzheimers and other degenerative brain diseases. Not only that, but it instructs on how already damaged brains can be improved and healed. Despite it being very repetitious in places I highly recommend it. It contains some interesting case studies and fascinating details about the different brain types. Read more

Review:Beautiful and informative in the extreme. I doubt if I will ever be able to see even half of these plants in a lifetime. However, it is imperative to know enough to survive and thrive. Everyone should have this book as well as Thayer's other book on edible plants. Thanks and blessings! Read more
Review:This book arrived quickly which I appreciated, but I returned it after the semester as I was renting it and I never received the price adjustment. Instead I was charged the purchase price.
I contacted Amazon about this because the cc used to make the rental had expired and I didn't know if they needed a new card # or would send a check. Amazon said they would send a check. I've contacted them twice by email but still haven't received a price adjustment and no I now longer have the book... Read more
