Management & Leadership
Review:I expected more from this book. The few examples for how one can lead without a title were helpful, but it left me wanting more. Not only in examples was it lacking but in material of how to go about it. I was also disappointed in the lack of spiritual content. I believe many examples could have been mined from scripture, but not even the most obvious ones were mentioned. Perhaps that was in an attempt to not be Biblical; I don't know. I understand when authors want to appeal to non-Christians t... Read more
Review:So many inspirational and practical ways to lead everyday by my own example. To put in the work myself and truly lead other people to success and great heights. Thank you, I loved this book and will be implementing and sharing many ideas written in this book. Read more
Review:Knowing nothing about leveraged buy outs, I found this book to be very educational. It is extremely well written and rivals the best fiction books for suspense and intrigue. It's a non stop page turner that clearly shows the effects of greed and ego can reek havoc on companies and their employees as well as the country's economy. Read more
Review:Rest on Sunday but do something useful and fulfilling the remainder of your week. Every minute. I love the section on learning more about what interests you instead of just enjoying it in ignorance. Entertaining and fast read. Read more
Review:The connection between your long range vision with your everyday work is not very clear to many people. In this book, in a very clear and convincing way, Brian Moran, develops a very practical system to build this connection in an useful way.
After reading the book, everyone in my small consulting company start to use the 12 Week Plan. It was not difficult at all. After that, we are teaching our costumers to use it. There is a very good acceptance to the idea.
In my opinion, this book clos... Read more
Review:Mark eloquently frames the discussion around redefining the sales rep profile to include intelligence as a critical success factor. He also provides a structural playbook for anyone thinking about scaling a sales org from $0 to $100M+. Lots of great takeaways. Read more
Review:The Founder's Dilemmas by Noam Wasserman is another book that belongs on every entrepreneur's bookshelf. It's excellent.
I met Noam for the first time last week when I was at HBS. I was on a panel of VCs (me, Mike Maples Jr., Kate Mitchell, and David Frankel) talking to a room full of HBS alumni who are VCs. Noam and I had exchanged several emails over the past few months and he sent me a review copy of the book but it got lost in my infinite pile of books to read. After seeing him and ta... Read more
Review:Wow, Michael Masterson really gets it! I couldn't believe all the answers that were in this book. It is apparent that Michael has actually lived being a successful entrepreneur, compared to all the ivory tower educators that have no real reality on what it takes to run a successful business. I only wish he would have written this book about 10 years ago. It would have saved me a bunch of doubt, uncertainty and worry. With my company now in Stage Two, I know what I need to do to get through S... Read more
Review:I have a passion for line management, mainly because during my career, I've had very few managers do it right. I'm not big on books about how to manage as I disagree mostly with their assertions. This book was suggested by my current manager, and what a gem. Finally, a book that echos the way I manage, but also presents ideas that work in practice, not theory. A short read packed with information. I would and have suggested this book to others! Read more
Review:It is a text book... boring. Term after term - it seems to me many of which are just there for the sake of being a term. To be fair maybe that is the subject matter and not so much the book. But there has to be a better way, a more interesting way of conveying the information without forcing the reader to read a bunch of terms and their definitions. So I take it back - yeah it is the book. Read more
