Management & Leadership
Review:This is a very useful book highlighting how our brains works in business and social interactions. Being aware of this brain-based interaction can only help us perform more effectively. The tricky part is maintaining the self awareness to practice this method. Read more
Review:I've read a number of leadership books, and Primal Leadership is among the best I've picked up. Goleman and crew outline a well balanced understanding of the different facets of leadership and the important skill of reading and capitalizing on the emotional state of the organization which one leads. This book is filled with numerous stories and cases where the principles advocated for are illustrated quite nicely.
This book is worth your time if you are seeking to develop your own leade... Read more
Review:In the first place I received an older version of this book. I waited so long for it that I decided to go ahead and keep it. I just hope that it is not much different then the version that I ordered as I have to write an essay on the book when I finish reading it. If it is then I will be very upset with the store that I bought it from. Plus, it took forever for them to ship the book in the first place. Read more
Review:Ir si a Great book with amazing information. The lean culture should be adopted by every company.
I also wanted to clarify that someone that gave this book a one star rating mentioned they Toyota is not using Lean and they is very incorrect and it is misinforming people. http://www.toyota-global.com/company/vision_philosophy/toyota_production_system/ on this website you can see that it is still used and its part of Toyota's culture. Review:A solid motivational read. Im a self employed consultant that works from home. The stories were motivating and served as a boost before i started my day. However nothing particularly outstanding and lifechanging in this book for me. That is this book is filled with very common sense advice. Also several editing issues (a quote incorrectly attributed to Nelson Mandela) and i found it interesting that thr author made a point to identify the race of black women she interviewed (no other races were... Review:Cabane has an interesting subject, but she inflated it too much and therefore diluted it. There was however a couple of gems that reminded me how others experience you. For instance, she takes a Zen / Taoist philosophy of being as much in the present as possible, i.e. without distraction of what you are busy doing. Simply by reigning in your overactive mind and devoting your full attention to anyone gives you more charisma. That and a couple of other helpful bits on how to greet someone, how to ... Read more
Review:If you are willing to put yourself out there, like this guy wants you to, I can see it working quite well. I think the real secret to success is work, regardless of how you go about it. I did find lots of his tips helpful, especially the chapter on health, wealth, and children.
The one annoying thing about Keith is that he regards himself in such high esteem. In one instance he calls himself a super-connector. I think we can come to that conclusion ourselves without being told! Read more
Review:You know a book is a standout when, while reading, you find yourself constructing a list of people you plan to gift it to. How to Be a Power Connector is a game changer that both inspires and educates the reader to master what I believe to be one of the most undervalued and intimidating aspects of business; networking. Like the book’s author, I never saw myself as a networker, but have been fortunate to work with some great networker/connector types over the course of my career. Networking is n... Read more
Review:After reading the Innovator's Dilemma, I was teased by Amazon to read this. I sort of remember some of this stuff from my school days, but this was a great refresher course to read while riding my exercise bike. Read more
