Review:Dr. Pitre has gone beyond what would be considered excellent scholarly work. In the process, he deposes many modern scholars and unseats their theories in setting the record straight on the historicity and reliability of the gospels and the biographical data we can draw from them about Jesus. It is not unlike uncovering evidence in great detective investigative research but also mixed with fresh new scholarship to meet the challenges that skeptics have thrown into biblical scholarship for decade... Review:I was an evangelical Christian from age 15 to age 30. Just this year, my views and beliefs have been drastically changing, and though I've chosen to not label myself any longer, I would fit into the Deist category quite well. A Deist is essentially what Thomas Jefferson, and several of the most famous founders of the US, were (not Theists, as fundamentalist Christians would have everyone believe).

The problem is that our cultural context is not the cultural context of the Bible’s original writers, hearers, and readers. For example, the story of Abraham (Genesis 12:1ff.) took place 4,000 years ago. Abraha... Read more

Review:Fabulous book. If Jesus were taught to us this way from the begining, we Christians would probably struggle less with our faith and could explain it better to others. Borg has a writing style that is accessible to every level of reader, academic and spiritual. Read more
