Review:The storytelling is not as strong as I would have expected, given Tom's gift of telling a story in film and video. There doesn't seem to be a clear voice to it; I can hear him surface in many passages, but in others, it seems lost in narratively at times. Really wanted to love this book and it is worth the money, but I have enjoyed the stories of others more in recent months. Read more
Review:I discovered the world of Pern after reading The Littlest Dragon Boy in a Jr. High text that I was teaching. I Loved
it then and still do. The 3 other short stories in this book are just as as delightful and worth reading! Read more
Review:I finished this a while back, but just haven't been able to find the words to leave an intelligent review. So, I'm not going to try to leave an in-depth one. If you're a child of the eighties, or maybe even slightly later, you probably have seen the animated production of this at least once. Even so, I think you'll find taking the time to listen to or read this story to be time well-spent. It's a wonderfully lyrical, magical story. I really enjoyed the author's narration on the unabridged a... Read more

Review:The Mysterious Island was one of the best books I've ever read, and I have read many. it was both entertaining and edifying. It was so exciting, suspenseful and interesting and fun all at the same time that I could hardly put it down and took it with me everywhere. I recommend it highly to everyone.
It was, of course, part of Jules Verne's works downloaded to my Kindle Fire. Read more
Review:This is a great book of various short stories some are amazing and oh so Hemingway, some are a little odd. But the book is sturdy and the stories short so you can move along quickly or go back to the one's that touch the heart. Read more
Review:First sentence in this novella, and I am certain you all have seen it somewhere, perhaps on a bumper sticker, or perhaps you have read this novella:

That is of course one hell of a pickup line. Channon MacRea is busy studying the ancient Dragon tapestry in the museum, when the most gorgeous man she has ever seen, starts talking to her. He seems genuinely interested in her, and her thoughts on the tapestr... Read more
Review:You want each short story to continue, not because anything is left out, but because there is a story in each avenue of the characters Lous l'Amour could take, but doesn't. Each story very different from the other. GREAT book. Read more
Review:Many great writers have been alcoholics, but few have written about the chaos and destruction of drinking with such precision, detachment and calm. There are stunning moments throughout this collection. A truly wonderful book. Read more
