Review:Any serious student of WWI will need to read this as it comes straight from Ernst Jungers diaries. It doesn't bog the reader down with the politics and the why's of the war - just a straight forward description of trench warfare and observations. Unless one can read German, this is as close as one can get to reading the original text. Read more
Review:I truly enjoyed Jim Bernheimer's novel. I found it funny in all of the right moments, the action was epic in almost every instance, and the characters beleivable, if super-powered. The way that the protagonist, Cal, interacts with all of the do-gooders has me either laughing, or turning the pages faster then Hermes could. I just genuinely enjoyed everything about the book. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that it ended.
This, along with The Skinwalker Conspiracies, has catapulte... Read more
Review:Mr Hopf demonstrates a basic lack of understanding of US military structure. One example: Col Barone's outfit? A battalion? A regiment? An MEU? Maybe was covered in first book... I don't recall. But, an outfit that size (-much- much larger than a Company) simply would NOT have an E-8 Master Sergeant (or even an E-9 Master Gunnery Sergeant) as it's top enlisted man (Master Sergeant Simpson). He would be an E-9 Sergeant MAJOR. It's the small things like that in a book that makes the diff... Read more
Review:A few interesting twists and unexpected turns kept the book very interesting. The insight into the individual characters is fantastic. The ending of the book makes you want the next book to see what happens. Read more
Review:I enjoyed reading this series quite a bit. The story line twists and turns enough to not get stale and the characters continue to evolve. I feel content finishing one of his books not cheated like finishing the story was a burden.
I will continue to read more books from this author. Read more
Review:I have totally enjoyed this series. I'm currently reading Broadcast 6. Lots of fly by the seat of your pants action. A fair warning, though...there are lots of typos and grammatical errors in these books. And in Broadcast 5, every single time the word "deck" or "control" was used, no matter the context of the use of the words, they were in italics. Great stories, though...just poorly edited. Read more
Review:Having had extended debates about the state of the U.S, military with a graduate of the Air Force Academy; I purchased this book as a gift. I heard Ricks' perspective in radio interview and he voiced my position. I sent it to my friend to bolster my position. Read more
Review:This book was well written and it answered many questions for me. The intimate details of people, places, things, emotions brought me right into the fight as if I were there. As a participant in an unpopular war of the past many of the elements of this book felt very familiar. Rules of engagement and the conduct of senior commanders removed from the actual combat has not progressed lo these many decades. If not for men like these Marines and soldiers we would be in a world of hurt. Every Am... Read more
Review:Excellent book and one that should be read by every American to really understand what these heroes go through to train and protect the freedoms that so many simply take for granted and 'abuse', and to really hear what happened to the innocent Americans that night in Bengahzi. God Bless him and God Bless America! Read more
Review:Highly recommended. In depth telling by young, "arab-speaking" former FBI counter-terrorism agent. His own background living as a Lebanese child during wartime. His childhood experiences, superior intellect, dedication to our country, our safety and the truth. This along with his youth, language skills, and personality appeared to make for easier establishment of trust with detainees. Believes that the belief in trust paramount to gaining accurate info. Says no way we should use torture bec... Read more
