Review:I still find Miles one of the most delightful characters in science fiction. I really enjoy the humor that shines through even the darkest moments in the book. These last couple of books (Memory, Komarr) have really deepened Miles and yes, it is time the Vor Lord "settled down" a bit. (Why do I find that hard to believe...) I reccomend the book, and the series highly. Read more
Review:Barrayar is, chronologically, the second book in the Miles Vorkosigan series, though it was written after the first few books of that series came out. It continues the story of Miles' mother, Cordelia Naismith (though now she's married, so it's really Cordelia Vorkosigan). It ends with a very young Miles, neatly tying into the beginning of Miles' story (which is what the rest of the series is about). Barrayar won a Hugo award, one of the highest awards in science fiction writing, and I will h... Read more
Review:I have to say, The Red Ledger just might be my favorite Meredith Wild series yet. And we only have the first book.
Wild has packed a little of everything in to the first of this promising new series, trills, mystery, suspense, and a hint of romance. A romance that actually sets the stage for the series. Not much is known about Tristan, by us or for himself, for that matter. He's very Jason Bourne-esque with a Wild twist. To Isabel, he is the one that got away. The one that would forever... Read more
Review:I did not grow up in Milwaukee but have lived most of my adult live near Milwaukee. I loved the humor and the characters. It is really refreshing to see things through the eyes of a ten year old. I look forward to reading more books by Lesley Kagen. Read more
Review:I normally don't like novellas because I usually feel cheated by its very shortness. Not with this book! I was intrigued by the description, and was hooked the moment the elevator doors closed. This was a sweet heartwarming small bit of mildly erotic romance and when it ended, I did not feel let down. I will watch for more of this authors books to go on sale (I don't spend more than $1 on short kindle novellas) as they are a little pricey right now. Read more
Review:...that never quite pans out. While full of interesting ideas and imagery at the outset, that creativity and novelty drops off rather sharply after the halfway point.
Also of note is the prose. A certain amount of simplicity and straightforward-ness is to be expected (and appropriate) for a book targeted at young adults. Zelazny starts off with clean, direct structure that becomes repetitive and, at times, clunky.
All in all, a quick and easy read, especially for younger readers (o... Read more
Review:It was good enough that I wanted to keep going but some parts needed some work. The main character reminds you about a hundred times that she's "just a chef" which gets old. Trying to rescue the little sister was dragged out too long and the sex scenes weren't that great. Probably wouldn't read another in this series. Read more
Review:Based off this rating, I would like to make it known that I didn’t hate nor did I love this book. My thoughts veer towards the fact that Sinful Intent, was an enjoyable read, it wasn’t really my cup of tea, so it was hard for me to connect to it.
Sinful Intent is the second Chelle Bliss book that I’ve read, and I really hoped that my dislike of certain qualities of her writing was isolated to that first book, sadly it wasn’t. In no way am I slamming on the authors’ ability to story tell b... Read more
Review:Book Title Getting Rowdy by Lori Foster
Rating 4 Hearts
Review:
Lori Foster's book Getting Rowdy is the third book in the Love Undercover series, although it can be read as a stand alone novel. This book follows the story of Rowdy, new owner of a formerly seedy bar and Avery, his bartender. Like all Lori Foster books, the sex is steamy and frequent, but the book doesn't scrimp on plot - which is why I keep coming back to her books.
In Getting Rowdy, both Avery and Rowdy are... Read more
