Review:I've been struggling with Russian for about 4 years now. Started learning it during high school by writing down word lists I wanted to know, reading an old textbook I bought online. LingQ gave me some good success, Assimil too, but I was still pretty far from being anywhere notable. I read this book and used its methods for about 6 months, and with the magic of flashcards I was able to really focus on the areas in which I was lacking. Anywho, I decided to sign up for a Russian class at my univer... Read more
Review:I first discovered this treasure in 1971 (19th paperback printing). I wished then that I knew about it from its first printing in 1940 (a pretty impressive feat given that I was born in 1942). This edition adds the convenience of being able to read it on my computer or phone--so I always have it with me.
This is the book that teaches you how to read difficult books on any topic and make sense of them. If you want to read for understanding and enlightenment, this is the book for you. Read more

Review:I learned about this book after watching Meg Jay's 10 minute TED talk, i wasn't convinced then but i was curious and wanted to hear her out on the topic. Reading this book at twenty six was a huge wake up call. Even with the reference to some pretty technical psychology and medical references-- which I thought would bore me at first-- I was hooked. Meg Jay thoroughly elaborates on her thesis in each chapter regarding career, love, and even aging using relatable examples, bringing up real fears a... Read more

Review:This "book" is mainly a collection of quotes most of which are not original and/or are derivate work from known quotes.
The selection of quotes is not even good. There are many more quotes on achievement or success that are more powerful.
Also, some of the quotes underline a whining attitude and resentment versus bosses and leaders.
Leaders of corporations are there to CREATE VALUE and deliver results for the shareholders that employ them and in doing so they employ (and remunerate) pe... Read more
Review:I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was the first book that I read by Os Guinness. I really enjoyed his discussion about the "poles of unbelief." People who are outside the Christian worldview and who seek to understand the worldview (as they may any religious worldview) vary to one pole or another (dilemma verse diversion). I thought this was a keen insight by Os. It's apparent that he has interviewed and interacted with those who have questions (and not opinions) about Christianity. He he... Read more
Review:Almost impossible to read in the Kindle format. You have to go back and forth between the questions and answers. The answers do not reference the questions they belong to, so you keep flipping back and forth. Good information, terrible delivery. Read more

Review:Even with amusing illustrations, this is still a tough topic. As a former computer programmer, program analyst, etc., I was intrigued by the idea of an illustrated book on fallacious reasoning written by a programmer, but it's not as simple and easy as it sounds. The order of presentation of each of the fallacies was sometimes confusing in that some examples of faulty reasoning referenced in the explanations had not yet been introduced. Assumes readers have previous knowledge/familiarity with... Read more
