Review:Very clear and concise book that pre-teens can learn from. It is written in a way that is scientific, but not overly stuffy and in a language that can be easly understood by a pre-teen/teen. This is a sexual education book, so yes it does talk about reproductive organs of both boys and girls. It does discuss sex. It does have illustrations. It also includes slang for reproductive organs. As an open-minded adult who encourages her child to ask questions, I really liked this book. I read it first... Read more
Review:The book struck me very hard in the beginning and I was under attack with emotions while reading. I have not experienced anything like this nor know anybody to close to me that has felt this type of experience or pain. But I was able to take in the dedication, love and HOPE that David Sheff displayed to his son Nicholas. I read this book within 6 days, i was so involved in it. The disclosure of thoughts, emotions, stories and actions is what makes this story real and attractive. My 2 year ol... Read more
Review:I originally bought this for a friend of mine who gets pretty down in the dumps. She has a lot of challenges in her life, so I thought this workbook might be something she could use to try to feel a little less down on her bad days. After thumbing through it, I've decided to order a second copy for myself!! It is witty, clever, and thoughtful but down to earth and realistic. I get blue from time to time and stress out over things (don't we all!!) and think this book could help see me through tho... Read more
Review:The book arrived on time and was generally as described. However, upon reading it, the pages are now separating from the spine, which to me is a little more than "cosmetic". I have to be careful when opening and reading the chapters. Other than that, it's as described. Read more
Review:I modified some of the activities for an Internal Family Systems group I hold at an alternative high school. The purpose of the exercises is to help the group participants understand where their exiles (or triggers) come from. The activites were very effective and the teenaged participants opened up about family and social influences that have manifest themselves into adverse protectors. I recommend this book to anyone who is serious about personality development and developing a healthy sens... Read more
Review:I am a psychotherapist working at a mental health agency. Working with many teen-age girls who are swept up by the media and their peers, only to fall and be hurt causes me to go further. In a group setting, we are working on self esteem without making Narcissistic personalities to improve the self-esteem. Core Self is most important, not the external. Forming the Core Self is more difficult in a society that says otherwise. It's a great book. Read more
Review:Highly recommended for those suffering chronic health ailments. I have been bedbound x 2years, underwent brain surgery last May and suffered from a variety of auto-immune, low immunity, joint ailments and new allergies in mid 40's. As a Registered Nurse myself, who experienced a severely fragments healthcare system, only to never find a physician who could look at me systemically; I immediately understood w this book and integrating Donna Eden's practices! Thank you Amy Read more
Review:So far this workbook has helped me figure somee things out about myself. My therapist recommended I buy it and it is an organized way of thinking about what stresses you out. The only reason I give it a 4 star is because I think it is meant for younger teens (I am 18) as opposed to late teens. I feel like the actual lessons are a bit elementary, things I already know or can do an easier way. That also may just be me.
Overall I recommend getting this book because even if you know your prob... Read more
Review:this book provides simple but effective ways of using mindfulness as a way to achieve inner happiness and self confidence. As a relatively absent minded person, I really appreciate the insights here and the effect I feel after just three weeks of meditation and mindfulness. though nowhere near a Zen aster yet, I feel more confident in myself, and know that there are more benefits to be reaped by making this a lifelong practice Read more
Review:In another of his amazing books, Godin implores folks to create "art." He defines art not as painting, etc, but in being unique, meaningful and indispensable in whatever industry you work in. A great read! Read more
