i love this alphabet book. it is to progressive social activism what bible-based board books are to christian religious education: an age-appropriate way to indoctrinate your child in the dogma of your choice. the images are gorgeous (as one would expect - the author is a graphic designer), the short rhymes are clever, and the hunt for the black cat is a cute touch.

Everyone I know started popping out babies all at once. I ordered 4 copies of this after hearing about it from another friend (who has a newborn) and I'm delighted by the message of this book (it's quite advanced) and that my gifting it can help solidify my kooky aunt status forever. The illustrations are also stunning, and I love that there's a cat on each page for an extra element of fun. It's a great way to generate some interesting conversations with small children. I have given it to friends with a range of political beliefs and they've all enjoyed the book.

We got this for my daughter and she loved looking at the pictures. She is much too young to pick up on the content. She is 2. Whenever guests come by the house they are always like what a cool book for kids.

I first saw this book with my chemistry professor. We often bond on current social justice issues and I had a baby shower to go to, so I purchased 2 of these and 1 of counting on community. They are perfect gifts for people who have children or are about to have children. The reading level may be be for 7-8 year olds because there are some big words but definitely something you can teach your children early on. The illustrations are powerful.

Such a great alphabet book for raising socially conscious kids. This can open the door to learning about so many MORE wonderful people who work for social justice. Also a great book to spark conversations between adults and the children in their lives.

I am currently expecting my firstborn baby, I am an activist and so are my close friends and family. My cousin who has a baby listed this book as a great xmas for for her 2 year old baby boy. So I purchased it for him, got it yesterday and cried each time that I read it (lost track of how many times that was). This book is awesome for mothers and inspiring for soon to be mums. Will be purchasing more for birthday gifts in 2017. Thank you for this!

A good book to teach young children about activism and help them toward becoming critical pedagogues. Some concepts are really difficult and children will need a lot of lessons to help them grasp some of these think concepts.

We checked this book out from the library & liked it enough to add it to our home library. It's set up like a baby/learning the alphabet book but the content is much more appropriate for an older child. Because of that we returned the board book version and went with the hardcover for our 5 yr old...she's much more likely to read it this way!

An easy to understand book about equality, love and the need for everyone, no matter their age, to be involved in the struggle for justice. Fun enough that my son enjoys reading along and smart enough to make him ask questions. I recommend everyone who cares about social justice in the 21st century read this book to their children, gift it to families with children and offer to host a reading at your local library.

Education prepares children to live successfully in their community and world. "A is for Activist" talks about responsibility as a citizen in a colorful, well-illustrated format. I enjoy reading it to my grandson as a reminder of the importance in participating in everyday quality-of-life activities. Easy to understand.

Interesting. I like the over all concept and like that some adult issues are camouflaged cautiously, but some may be a little more adult than some would like. I think if you make sure to involve yourself so that your personal guidance is involved than it's pretty good. It's a deep kids book. Its actually entertaining for my kid too though because of trying to find the cat.

This book is perfect to teach youngsters about being activists and advocates. Every letter of the alphabet is covered with multiple words to guide on what actions can be taken. I'm impressed. I'll be buying for more children.

Absolutely love this book. Wonderful message and beautiful illustrations. Well made book for children ages 5 and up. Somewhat short so it makes for a good short read that can lead to important conversations. Great gift for children as well.

I've purchased this book for several friends and their children (including my niece), and they love it each and every time! A great book to read to children and engage them in social justice issues. Can Innosanto create a book specifically dedicated to "Feminism"? I would purchase in a heartbeat. Thank you....
