The Nearness of You (Love Everlasting) (The Thorntons Book 1)

I found myself being much more interested in Caleb and Megan's story.

Sara was a little too much of a wimp for me. There were so many unpleasant or wimpy people in this book. Harrison's mother, who was just nasty with her behavior. I also found it surprising that she had no empathy for Sara just because their experiences were similar. Harrison has a wimpy father who disagreed with his wife and her behavior, yet supported what she did. Sara's, oh so nasty and vindictive ex-husband, was the straw that broke the camel's back. I would have appreciated s more detailed explanation as to why he turned up all of the sudden. Also, what happened with Devin?

There seemed to be so much detail left out, but Harrison and Sara still ended up with their HEA.

Loved the story and most of the characters. In my opinion, it would have been even better without all the graphic sex scenes. We all know how it's done, and I prefer leaving a little to the imagination.

I enjoyed the characters. From rich to poor, they all had problems despite their upbringing. An easy and enjoyable summer read. Can't wait to see how the rest of the family deals with their love lives.

Harrison is from the "right side of the tracks" and Sara the "wrong side". She returns to her hometown after a bitter divorce. Sara's son is a cancer survivor and Harrison is the local oncologist. She visits his office for a checkup for her son. They are attracted to each other and their story progresses even though Harrison's mother strongly objects to Sara. Their attraction progresses too quickly and their character development is poor. The explicit sex was more than I wanted in a book. I gave this book three stars, which probably was generous.

I personally think this book isn't worth the read. I hate how horribly the mothers are portrayed and that the author always uses the parents first names instead of mom or dad. The storyline is decent and could have potential with some work.

This is the proverbial small town with a poor girl and rich boy who grow up and find each other. The small minded people put the girl down and belittle the guys feelings. Eventually someone has to stand up to the bullies. Ok read.
