I absolutely love Divya Srinivasan's illustrations!

We purchased this after "Little Owl's Night" was such a hit with our 1.5 year old. We're always on the lookout for books that he loves, AND that we enjoy reading with him (there are some very annoying kids books out there, that I shamefully admit I don't want to read when my toddler brings them to me). I'll happy read Little Owl's Day over and over again, though - the illustrations are lovely, and the story is easy to read (or make up your own as you flip through the pages).

The only thing I would change is to make this available in a board book for the littler readers! Our son has already torn some pages through exuberant handling.

While I like the premise and character design, I found the writing style awkward and the quality of animation inconsistent. My child loves owls and was immediately drawn to the book by it's beautiful cover. Once we started going through the book, we both just kind of lost interest and didn't finish it. We'll give it another try for sure. It's by no means a bad book, but given the high ratings I've come away a bit disappointed.

This is a lovely book—beautiful and detailed illustrations, great color palette, interesting and sweet story with great vocabulary. But, even better than all that, something about the artwork (high contrast but still pastel-y, with lots of patterns) catches the interest of my 2-month old and calms her down. Yesterday I pulled it out while she was fussy and it bought thirty whole minutes of quiet time as she stared slack jawed at the pages, studying the patterns and shapes. She even seemed to reach for it several times (which would be her first time intentionally reaching for something). We've had the book since she was born (baby shower gift) and this isn't the first time it's soothed her (or interested her enough to calm her). I've found that I don't even necessarily need to read the story, just showing her the pictures very slowly is enough. I've also propped it up in front of her during tummy time and she studies it, fascinated. 100% definitely worth getting this book!

wonder
Little Owl discovers by accident how active the forest is during the day. Oh the joy of learning about animal friends he never gets to see at night.

Divya Srinivasan creates a vibrant, wondrous picture book for young readers to discover the two worlds of the forest. A world of wonder awaits Little Owl and children too.

Very cute book! Love that the language isn't extremely simple i.e. "Jane sat down". The sentences are still easy for toddles to understand but it also introduces them to a broader vocabulary. Illustrations and story are very cute. Bought it as a gift for a two-year-old and both she and her four-year-old brother love it.
