The first two books in the "A Galaxy Unknown" series are a breathless ride through one space battle after another. Here, we get a little breather from that type of action, as much of the book takes place planet or station-side. The opportunity is not wasted, however, as the author takes the chance to flesh out some of the characters, especially the alien species of the "Nordakians". There still is plenty of discovery and action which makes the book difficult to put down. Couple this with the reappearance of a villain from the first book and personal growth on the part of Jenetta, and you have a solid mid-series book that sets up several interesting possibilities for later. The exciting teaser chapter for Book 4 holds the promise that good things are still to come in this series.

This is the third book in the Galaxy Unknown series, and for anyone that enjoys Space Opera this is one of the best series I've come across recently. As others have said, it pays to read the books starting with the first one as each book does build upon the story line. I'll not recount the plot line here, just leave it that if you want a good read, you owe it to yourself to check out this series.

If you are wondering if you should pickup this series, don't hesitate and pickup the first book and you will read straight through the series as I have. Excellent series with characters you really get to know. Sure there are some awkward phrasings, like the author is trying to force it a little to much, but once you get past that you will be glad you did.

I have just finished reading the first three books of the Galaxy Unknown series. I can't wait until the rest are available on Kindle! They are an easy read with great characters. They could be read standalone but I would recommmend that you read them in order. This author's stories will keep you wanting more.

I got the Kindle version in late October, 2012. DePrima is a fine author, and the book is amusing. However, starting at location 5362 the entire text is in italics. This interfered with my enjoyment.

I gotta agree with the previous posters...this one is more background and character development, but the limited action is good and the opportunities Jenetta is given are well thought out.
Can't wait for book 4! (Due out November 1st I believe)

Surely the author could have had somebody else arrive at the space station -so as we could go over all the History/facts again but in a different sequence - real struggle to finish - my kindle's next page button was working far faster than my reading rate. Endings on all three books were dragged out. Boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have immensely enjoyed reading the first three books of "A Galaxy Unknown". They are fast paced and interesting. The character development is great and the story is not predictable. I usually cannot put it down or find a convenient place to pause. I highly recommend these books.

I've enjoyed the previous novels in this SF series, and this one lived up to my expectations with novel ideas and great characters continuing from the earlier series. If you're a SF fan, I highly recommend this one and the earlier novels.

I have found a certain childlike enthrallment with these books that makes me want to love them and forces me to read them. I say «want» beause there are so many infuriating illogical or nonsensical or simply ignorant statements that i want to scream. Why tell me the guards are om a 10 meter catwalk? Why not just say a catwalk or above the prisoners? Does using exact measurements endow the author with some greater knowledge that we must endure as to scale when it does not matter?

I'm guessing this book was written just to bolster a future plot? The latter half of this book really just felt like busy work and fell flat for me. Don't get me wrong, I like the overall story arc a lot but I feel the author missed a HUGE opportunity here. He really could have played this into another book of just Jen and Eliza looking for their missing "sister". I didn't care for the "perfect" ending, everything worked out splendidly and better than they could ever have hoped for. I'm just starting the next book in the series so hopefully this book will all mean something in the end...

This is a really wonderful series. Starting with "A Galaxy Unknown" all of the way through to this book "Return to Dakistee", Thomas DePrima will keep you glued to the story. You will not want to put it down. This is without a doubt one of the best series I've read in a very long time. Throughout this series, watch Jenetta Carver go from Ensign to Admiral, while solving one problem after another, and always outsmarting those who would do evil. You will not be disappointed.
