Hunted by the Dragon Duke (Dragon's Council Book 1)

I very much enjoyed reading this book. The only reason it got 4 Stars instead of two is because I felt like mins was kind of promising a lot of passion. While there was passion, two sperate scenes to be exact, I felt like there wasn't as much as an alpha like calan would have with a mouse like saskia.... But otherwise loved this book and hope more will come soon!

I loved the way the author put this book together. It was brilliant. I responded emotionally and it's hard to find authors that can put you inside the book as THE character. Thank so much, I truly enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed the twist on the Cinderella story offered by this book - dragon shifters. Saskia is an orphan living with her step-mother and step-sisters, making gowns for their business, and dealing with much harsher abuse than many other Cinderella stories contain. Calan is a black dragon whose purpose in life is to protect the kingdom. When he and Saskia meet the first time, he's intrigued, but it's not until the second time they meet that he realizes Saskia is probably his mate. Of course, the step-family catches her and interferes, but the author adds some twists to the story that make it just different enough to keep it fresh and of course we get our HEA at the end. It was a little difficult to figure out the time period, at first since the author didn't give us a lot of information, and I had thought we were looking at a medieval time period up until about halfway through the story when one of the characters is driving a car. And I had really hoped that Saskia's dragon would burst free at some point and eat her step-family, but no such luck. This story is a standard H-saves-the-h trope, and the step-family end up in jail, not eaten. But it was fun, well-written, and a cute twist on the Cinderella story (I mean, who doesn't love the idea of Cinderella as a dragon?!?).

Oh, I liked this one. Cinderella with dragon-shifters. Yesssss. Complete with a wicked stepmother and a driven duke and a shoe left behind for him to find her by.

MAN, I like dragons. They're ruthless and focused and they definitely go after what they want when they see it. The first time they meet, Callan might not have realized what Saskia was to him, but he figured it out soon enough. But by that point Saskia is already on the run and in some deep water with her "family."

Driven dragons, a mistreated girl, and a stepmother with zero redeeming qualities. I'm all in!

This is part of the Howls Romance series & since Mina Carter is one of my favorite writers, I definitely had to give this one a try. And boy am I glad I did.

This story is a paranormal take on the Cinderella story & it's a good one. Saskia is our Cinderella in this story. The orphaned girl forced to labor away for her cruel step family after her father dies. Callen is not only one of the elite & powerful black dragons, he's also a cousin to the Queen. The Queen feels it's time for Callen to find a bride so throws a ball in order to give him a wide choice of women to choose from. Things go on from there in the usual way but with some inventive twists.

This story was a strong adaptation of a fairy tale classic & I loved it. The characters were strong & likable. The plot line had enough new twists to make it fun. All in all a great way to spend an evening. I'll definitely be reading this one again & again.

She shows gumption when taking her 'fairy godmother' to task, and bravery when she decides to make the most of a chance 'meet' at the ball. You must read and discover what happens in this iconic tale brought to new life by Ms. Carter. I love it!

This is a great addition to the Howls Romance series. This is a fast-paced and standalone story that will keep you engaged from start to finish. There's action, adventure, fighting, drama, family, danger, suspense, enemies, twists/turns, jealousy, magic, romance, passion/lust and love.
This book is a remake, adult version, of the Cinderella story and it's set in modern time. This story has all of the characters of the classic story except the handsome, sexy and imposing Prince Charming, evil stepmother, evil resisters, the godmother, and Cinderella are all Dragon shifters. Then there is the slipper! Read this amazing remake to find out what happens. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and this review is my own opinion.

REALLY good short story. As described, it's a remix of the classic Cinderella story. Set in modern time, but with a touch of mystical dragon magic, it was a good morning read. I'm looking forwards to the next book. I'd recommend this book to anybody wanting a fun and quick read.

This is a retelling of Cinderella with a twist. The twist being everyone is a were-dragon. Saskia's dragon is "unstable" and she has to wear a collar to keep from shifting. Saskia goes to the ball to watch and have one night of memories. When Calan spots Saskia he knows she is his. Will Calan find Saskia when she flees the ball or will her stepmother have her disappear permanently? Great fast read.

This book will make you rethink reworked fairy tales in a good way. A twist on the Cinderella story with a bunch of dragons thrown in, what's not to like? Saskia, i felt so bad for her, and the story really is, just her story. The other characters have presence, but it's her story that you want resolved, her experiences you want to read about. This is a fast read and very well written. You should read it too!

Awww. Such a sweet Dragon love story. Made to toil away as a dressmaker, sleeping in the basement on a pallet covered in rags by her evil stepmother and her equally horrible stepsisters, Saskia is visited by a fairy God dragon. She is encouraged to attend the ball where the charming black Dragon, Duke Calan is told to pick a mate by his cousin the queen, a white Dragon. He sees Saskia and she takes his dragonbreath away. Before he can "seal the deal" they are interrupted and she disappears into the night leaving. . .yes, you guessed it a slipper. Such a sweet fairytale.

This story was a little different from the stories that Mina writes.It basically is the Cinderella story only the Prince is a Duke who is also a dragon shifter and our Cinderella is a dragon whose dragon has never come out,basically she is a null.Our Cinderella has a fairy godmother who talks her into going to the ball and she does and the Duke see's her and wants her.They are having a very intimate sexy moment in his library when they are interuppted by his nephew and her wicked stepsister.The Duke ask her to wait while he returns his nephew to his father but when he returns she is gone.The next day he goes on a hunt for her and finds out that her evil stepmother has sold her to a brothel.This is obviously not what happens in the original Cinderella story but this is the very steamy version of the story.It does nave a happy ever after ending though it has some very unusual parts that are a lot steamier than the original obviously,after all this is written by Mina Carter!! For anybody who is a fan of Mina's this is a must buy because its different from her usual stories except obviously it is a steamy story or it wouldn't be Mina's story lol If you have never read a book by Mina before I highly recommend this book because it is a good introduction,however if this one appeals to you then her other books will blow you away because she is just that good of a writer.I have also reviewed a couple of her other recent books that you need to check out,look for my review!! I did receive an advanced reader's copy of this book and I am voluntarily writing an honest review and I can honestly say that though this book is a little different than her usual stories,it is just as hot and is a quick read for when you only have an hour or less to read but you want something that will keep your attention and you will find that here in this rendition of the fairy tale where every little girl wants her white night to save her,only in Mina's version it is a dragon who is the prince,and it's the R rated version!!

This dragon version of Cinderella, was a quick and entertaining read. Although it follows the lines of the classic fairytale, it was a fun and entertaining read. Saskia has had to endure her wicked step-mother since her fathers death several years ago. In this slight variation, not only does Saskia’s step-mother and step-sisters beat her drastically, but they’ve imprisoned her dragon and eventually sell her. Thankfully, black dragon Duke Calan has been unable to forget about the quiet girl he let her away at the ball. When he learns what has happened to Saskia he sets off to rescue her. Of course they get their HEA. I really liked these characters and wish the rest of the series was on KU. 5 Stars.

Loved it. Really an entertaining twist on different type of fairy tale. Saskia Evans is a talented dressmaker for her nasty stepmother Goranka and step sisters. Her father married Goranka when she was a child, she has received no love or recognition from her family at all. They treat her like a slave and use her dressmaking skills for their own profit. Goranka has had Saskia dragon contained by magic for years. She was told her dragon was dangerous. Saskia dressmaking has bought her family to the notice of the Queen Cadeyra and her cousin Calan Duke of Vacossin. He finds Saskia an interesting puzzle as she smells like a dragon but looks human. She has made dresses for the masqerade ball and Queen Cadeyra buys some of them. Saskia has a godmother who wants her to go to the ball too, but that is going to get Saskia into a lot of trouble when she attends. Thank you to Mina Carter for the excellent review copy.

Cinderella meets dragon shifter in this short romance by Mina Carter - two of my favorite things.
I love this adaptation of the Cinderella fairy tale with dragon shifters. Calan is a black dragon and also a royal duke. He's one of the most eligible bachelors in the realm and he's been ordered by his queen to find a mate at the upcoming ball. Saskia is our Cinderella in question with the requisite evil stepmother and stepsisters. When she first meets Calan, she sparks his interest even when he doesn't know who she is.
I loved Calan and Saskia both as individuals and together. Calan is huge, strong and protective. Everything a dragon shifter should be. Saskia is tiny and beaten down by her circumstances but with a spark of fire in her.
I enjoyed how closely this story followed the Cinderella fairy tale. Ms Carter certainly made this fun to read.

This has got to be the best version of cinderella I have read. Better then the original lol!
Saskia had lost her mother at her birth then lost her father when she was still young and before her first shift as a dragon. Now she is grown and stuck with her evil stepmother and two equally evil stepsister. They are all dragon shifters. Saskia's dragon has been locked away since her first shift. She works as a servent and seamstresses for her stepmother but she never gets the credit for her work or any kindness.

Calan is a duke of vacossin and a black dragon.
Since you more then likely know the cinderella story I will leave it at that. I LOVE the dragon twist on this fun story. The characters are fantastic and the storyline is awesome. Don't miss it!

Calan, Duke of Vacossin and one of the black dragons who protect their society, accompanied his cousin, the queen, to the dressmakers and his eye caught the mousy girl hiding in the background. A dragon- retelling of Cinderella with the evil stepmother, the stepsisters, the handsome, sexy and imposing prince charming and the slipper. Interesting characters, a secret behind the girl, passion, magic, suspense and strong emotions. Voluntarily reviewed this interesting and entertaining story. Love the fairy tales with spice.

In involuntary servitude to her wicked step mother and stepsisters, Saskia Evans catches the eye of the Queen's cousin, Calan D'Amnayel, the dashing Duke of Vacossin. Calan is a member of the famed black dragons, the Council of Twelve that protects all from rogue dragons. Saskia Evans is very much like Cinderella, always being bullied by her stepmother and stepsisters. She does all the designing and work on the clothes they make but gets none of the praise. Even her dragon half is a prisoner of a magic necklace because she can't control it.
Calan the Duke of Vacossin is a powerful black dragon and cousin to the Queen. The Queen is pressuring him to take a mate, and invites lots of single female dragons to her ball.
This is a short Cinderella based paranormal. It's sexy and filled with magic. I think it's part of a series that I will look out for.

Loved this creative retelling of Cinderella...with Dragon shifters. Wow, Callan is this strong, alpha male, black dragon that I wanted to get to know so much more about. He was that perfect mix of gentle but strong, forceful yet kind. Saskia is our Cinderella. Forced into servitude by her step mother and two horrible step sisters, she fears the tiniest look or infraction will earn her a beating. Fate puts her in Callan's path, and he'll do anything to keep her there! I am really hoping to see future stories featuring the other black dragons in Callan's Council and would have like to have had a little more detail built into the character of the fairy godmother, but overall really enjoyed the story.

Saskia is orphaned her stepmother makes her spend day and night sewing ball gowns for other dragons and is very she is very sad and her dragon is very mad but something intervenes on her behalf and she gets to go to the ball and there she meets a handsome warm duke named Callan has to pick a bride the queen demands it that is when he sees Saskia give him a merry chance around the ball room but he has to go do his duty and she loose him and goes back to her sewing duty's very sad and heartbroken such a good heart warming story of love and exciting ride but all of mina carter books are so good and hot love every one of them I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. A Cinderella story, with dragons! Saskia has been told all her life that her Dragon is unstable and dangerous, and her abusive stepmother forces her to wear a spelled collar to prevent shifting. Calan is a powerful black dragon, a duke, and cousin to the queen. When Saskia sneaks to the ball, Calan immediately decides she is his, and he will make it happen no matter what. I really enjoyed this one, and I only wish it had been longer because it's such a quick read. I can't wait to see if Queen Cadeyra will have her own story. There's even a little mention of Joseph and his "hedgehog lady" Katie, who you may remember from Dragon Her Feet.

Cute story with a dragon twist. Aspects of this story that I wish I had more detail but I had to be satisfied with the way the author wrote it.

Indifference, cruelty, and hidden agenda maybe some things you can expect in the story. Truly it was the failure of people to recognize a catastrophic incident to ensure that the innocent were protected but this didn't happen.

Boy that previous statement doesn't give you much to work with but hopefully it intrigued you enough to pick up the book and read it.

I really enjoyed this story! The characters were awesome and I loved the take on the Cinderella story. It was well done. It's a short book and it follows the guidelines of the Cinderella story. I loved the interactions between Saskia and Callan. This story was entertaining and enjoyable. Once I started reading it, I didn't stop until I had finished it. I wanted to see Saskia and Callan get their happily ever after. There is sexual chemistry between the characters but no actual sex until the end, though there are some sexy scenes before that. Great blend of action and romance.

This is a fantastic version of Cinderella, but with Dragons! Saskia is a seamstress working for her evil stepmother & stepsisters who take all the credit for her work. She also has issues with her dragon, believing it to be unstable & dangerous, so has it kept suppressed by a necklace put on her by her stepmother. Callan is a black dragon, a duke & the queens cousin. He is also on the council of dragons who protect the kingdom from rogues.

This is a beautiful story - overcoming evil in several forms, true love found, dragons, a fairy godmother & a lost slipper. I loved it & highly recommend it to everyone

Many authors have done twists on fairytales like Cinderella. This one has a paranormal element with the characters being dragon shifters. It is a great read and has just the right amount of heat too. You will root for him to find his mate and save her from her life of servitude.

Mina Carter is one author who really knows how to offer a shorter story that still offers the character development I really enjoy and features a rich storyline that doesn't feel rushed. I highly recommend you check out her other paranormal romances too.

What a great fun take on the Cinderella story! A nice quick, light, fun story to read and enjoy. You would think it would be boring. When I realized it was a take off of the Cinderella story I was skeptical and thought I wouldn't enjoy the book. WRONG! I did!

If you are looking for a fun, light-hearted read that blend paranormal with "harlequin-style" stories, this one will be right for you.
