I purchased this for my niece as a gift. She was so excited to get it. She said the book was very good and happy I bought it for her. I'm rating it a 5 because it was a good price fast delivery and made my niece smile

It was so good, oh my god Joey I'm so proud of you, your life wasn't easy I can't imagine everything you went through. This book is amazing and I loved every moment of it I cried I laughed and I read it in one sitting and that's so crazy for me...I give real props to Joey for letting us into his life even more, this book felt like I was just sitting as my best friend talked to me about his struggles and life and everything that came with it. It really shows no matter what you come from you can truly shine if you put your mind to it! I love all the little advice at the end of the chapters, I wasn't ready for this to end. Thank you Joey for letting us into your life through YouTube and your book :)

I had no idea who Joey Graceffa was and had actually never heard his name until I saw an ad for this book. I am extremely thankful I decided to check it out. Joey is an amazing man and his story is a perfect example of why you should never give up, no matter what life throws at you. I wish this book was around when I was growing up and I think a lot of people could benefit from the message it sends. I know it quickly made me a fan. It's heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time and is a must read.

Joey, i'm very proud of you and you've came so far <3 I love you so much and I wish I could meet you but it is very hard cause no one comes to Minnesota and my parents would never let me on a plane just to see my idol! Haha. I'm glad you wrote this book because i needed it and i cant explain my love and happiness to you.

The book was so much better than I had thought it would ever be. It explained so much about Joey, especially the paint chip part. He's such an amazing author. I love how he brings so many surprise stories and elements in

Kind of boring. The only reason I bought it was because he made a comment in a video that his book revealed "secrets". Secrets he revealed a day or two later. Some might like it, but I never made it past the 3rd chapter. This guy is a joke honestly. From his YouTube channel to this book, everything he does is just some fluff.

My 10 year old wanted to read this book as to he is currently into You Tubers. The writing / reading level are appropriate, but please note the content in the last third of the book are NOT appropriate for elementary or middle school children. Those chapters of the book cover early relationships and intimacy at an emotional level.

Joey Graceffa is cute enough to watch online from time to time I suppose, but a whole book about him was a little much. Especially for paying full, first-day price. There was nothing that happened that was any sort of surprise or new revelation; nothing I hadn't already picked up from watching a few key videos of his. I mainly wanted the book for insider information on the Amazing Race, behind-the-scenes details, but there was nothing. An autobiography, to my mind, should let the reader get to know the subject on a deeper level, a good autobiography would slice the subject open and examine the flaws for better or ill. This felt more like a vanity project, superficial. Besides some mean-ish kids in elementary school, Joey paints a picture of being surrounded by people who tell him yes all the time. He does not discuss failures or mistakes, or character flaws. All the negative things in this book come from external sources and he's the victim of them until his fortunes - literally in some cases with the money people give him to do things - change and then it's all rosy. Fine, whatever, good for him. I just wish I hadn't spent money on the book. Borrow it from a library.

Joey Graceffa is a very graceful and lovable youtuber who is known for many accomplishments. As of now he has written two books which are In Real Life and Children of Eden that's been also acknowledged by The New York Times as one of the best selling books. From my personal experience I've seen just how much love fans give to see this amazing idol which was when he had a book tour event in Orlando FL. Many books I've read that were in first person view only gave little imagery on what they've experienced while this one not only gives great amount of details on events but also advice and tips on how to accept yourself and the problems you'll face.

The youtube genre was originally just another add ons section to book stores like Barnes and Noble for me until I've noticed that Joey Graceffa had published In Real Life which caught my attention really quickly because of him being one of my favorite Youtuber. Once I've read up to chapter 14 I became emotional over the fact that someone could stand up to many devastating problems like his mother being an alcoholic to accepting the fact that some people should just be left instead of being in pain from them. There were some tips that i keep sticky notes on for when I'm in a personal situation and want to look for pleasing advice.

One lesson that others might not see would be that it's okay to learn and to look back to what you've done so that later on in life you can help those who might feel depressed or don't have self acceptance. This can give others a path to creativeness and enjoyment which is something people don't learn these days when it comes to siblings who are different to even relationship problems. Overall this not only a person's life in a book but also a development of an inspirational person who was living in a poor household to someone who is know living his dream of fame and giving viewers a character full of joy.

Hi there! Am I late to the party? Of course I am. So, I just read this incredible book written by Mr. Joey Graceffa, I've been watching his videos for a long time, longer then I actually even realized.I hadn't gotten around to reading In Real Life because to be completely honest I was nervous, I had read a youtuber book before and was very dissapointed in what seemed like a lack of creative reasoning for them writing it. But I was watching some of Joeys old vlogs and decided maybe I should give it a shot. From start to finish I was thrown into this life that wasn't my own but had so many simalarities. Joeys story is so incredibly special and you could tell that this book was important to him and took a lot of time and effort and probably a lot of pain to make. Warrior Mother definetly made me cry the hardest as I strongly strongly relate to that part of Joey. I have never felt closer to a youtuber and I feel like I know more then I even deserve to about his life. I was on the edge of my seat waiting for his first kiss to happen, he played hard to get until the very last second. ( Go Joey!) Reading about his learning disability, I didn't even know it was possible to get one that way, but I am really glad I know now! I felt so involved and I listened along on Audible so it made the expierience even more special and real like in real time Joey was just sitting and telling me a whole bunch of stories from his life that lead him to where he is now. I've been really down on myself lately, I'm 20 years old and I'm not sure which direction my life is headed, this book made me feel so at ease and so confident in what the future can hold if you want something bad enough or love it enough. I think I was always meant to read this book at this point in my life. I don't know something has changed inside of me, it's weird. Maybe it will last a week, a month, a year or forever but it is surely a great and special feeling. Thanks, Joey! For writing this book and for sharing your life with us again and again. Watching you become the person you are today has been nothing short of a blessing. Keep doing you! & EVERYONE GO BUY HIS NEW BOOK CHILDREN OF EDEN!!! I HAVE A GREAT FEELING ABOUT IT!

Joey Graceffa is an amazing well-rounded person. He’s a YouTuber, a proud supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, and also a fabulous writer. His book In Real Life; My Journey To A Pixelated World is an astounding story. He decided to write this book for the purpose of helping others with his embarrassing but funny stories of his younger years. He also wrote this because he couldn't tell his life story in his videos. Joey started writing his book about when he was an infant all the way up to where he is now. He told stories of his first YouTube channel, his first crush, how he figured out he was gay, just to name a few. This book is fantastic and I do plan on re-reading it as soon as possible.
In the very beginning of the book, he tells of the time he would eat lead paint chips that flaked off the wall. This is probably the most important part of the book because it sets up the rest of the events, especially during his schooling years. I don’t want to give any major spoilers but this may be the most important part of the story due to it setting up all the events later on. He had a rough childhood and it really made me think of how good I had it compared to him. Because of the lead paint chip incident when he was younger, he had to be in special ed classes, or as they called it SPED classes. He described how he got bullied from being in the SPED classes and how he made mistakes and hurt his friends’ feelings because of it.
Not only was he dealing with being bullied, but he had to deal with his mom’s alcoholic tendencies and how that affected him up until this day. He really struggled with his mom’s drinking habits because she would go get drunk instead of taking care of Joey. Her dependency of alcohol came before her love of Joey. However this didn’t stop him from following his dreams. He wrote about of his first YouTube channel and how that impacted his life, from the first time he admitted he was gay out loud to other people, to his terrible but exciting years at college. There were many heart wrenching stories in the book and they really made me reevaluate life. Even though he didn’t have a wonderful life up until a couple years ago, he made the most of it. He could have been a bitter person because of everything he went through but decided to be gentle and kind while being very sassy.
The book In Real Life; My Journey To A Pixelated World is a fantastic book. It hate reading, but this book I couldn’t put it down. I honestly loved this book for the stories as well as the way he wrote it. He wrote it really well for not being a professional writer. However, I would not suggest this book to anybody younger than 13, there is some strong language and parts that just wouldn’t make sense to younger people. But if you’re looking for a good read with a lot of sass and humour, I’d suggest reading this book. I hope people who are reading it will enjoy it as much as I did.

I LOVED this book!!! I've been watching Joey for YEARS and a lot of the stories he talks about were similar from my days watching him on his vlogs. It was crazy to me that while we were seeing a side of Joey on camera this book revealed even more depth and an inside look to his life. I have an alcoholic family and Joey was right to say that loving an alcoholic is one the hardest and most painful things. Yet you can't help but love them and make yourself be there for them. This book was inspiring, raw, and hopeful. I learned things about myself through this book. Having loved Joey for years and having been seeing him as a role model already; this made me admire him even more. I have felt less alone and I truly cherish this book and feel grateful to Joey for writing it. I LOVE YOU JOEY!! May your life be filled with endless happiness because you deserve it!!!!

I really really wanted to love this book...... but I'm 2 and a half hours into it and I just wanna stop. It's so depressing, which for some might be fine but since his videos are funny and serious I thought that's what the book would be a mix. So far it has been just depressing and draining to listen to.

Joey tells a very relatable experience to the stories of a lot of gay kids that could help them accept themselves. He offers great insight for what keeps people in the closet and what empowers them to come out. From outside the closet, it's easy to see someone is stuck inside and make fun of them, but this book is like someone that's been there going in to help others find their way out.

Love the book, Joey. You did a great job and you were right when you said that this would be inspirational for many others, and this could definitely help other people live life in some of the toughest situations. Congratulations on accepting who you are as an individual; it's never healthy to push away who you truly are. I am so proud of you for being you, boo! Congratulations and I would not trade this book for a million dollars.

The book was absolutely fantastic. I laughed, I cried, I felt all the feels. Joey tells such an inspiring story that I believe millions can relate to. Even if you don't know who Joey Graceffa is, reading a real life story about an alcoholic mother, having a brother with autism, dealing with your own learning disabilities, and fighting to accept your natural sexual orientation is still inspiring and educational. I definitely recommend this book to everyone.

WOW JOEY! Amazed with this book! I've been watching Joey since mid-2013, and I would always come back from school refreshing my YouTube page to see if you uploaded a new video. Anyways, the book was great! One of the most interesting characters was Deep V. Like, damn. You can create an HD picture in your mind. And Sam was just a bitch. I learned so many things about Joey after reading this book.

This by far is one of the most inspirational pieces of work i have ever read. As a special education student and gay man myself i related to so much of this book. Its amazing to hear your not alone and that your going to be okay. I am a huge Joey Graceffa fan and that will continue after today. He speaks with so much truth and honesty it brings tears to my eyes. A truly amazing piece of work from an amazing inspirational man. who will go on to do extraordinary things and change a lot of lives in the process :). People need to read this.... Master_tofu

We're to begin. First of WOW. I woke up this morning and could not go to sleep. Seeing joeys book was released I figured why not. A few hours later I have put my speed reading skills to use and finished it as I literally could not put it down. Needless to say the guy has lived a interesting life which he walks readers through. And bonus through out the book he gives some pretty interesting advise. Score! Lol. I think most shocking and personal were the stories about his mom and his difficulties in school. As someone who in the past has been both a fan and a critic of joey I found the book eye opening but more than anything inspiring. A+

Nothing special. I don't mind watching a video of his online from time to time but he is just not interesting and talented enough to carry a whole book. Basically he is just an average guy in his 20s who is not particularly funny or interesting, and doesn't really have any real talent. As we all have seen that he did try to become an series actor but failed miserably.
