Annie literally took me back to years of bad relationships, bad decisions, and years of manipulation. I loved hearing her story as she went from abused and manipulated to strong and valiant. Anyone working in the sex industry or looking to help people being sex trafficked, this is a must read. Thank you Annie for sharing your life's story! I am a life that needed to hear it.

Thank you Annie , I've read this book in a couple of hours as I just couldn't put it down. I cried through most of it as I read your words that were so painfully honest and broke my heart and also cried as I rejoiced as God so beautifully restored her and led her into this life she was destined to live. Yes It is proof of God's awesome love! I highly recommend this book

I am a new believer, saved earlier this year. God has called me too, to use the pain of my past to help others on many levels of healing, from many different kinds of trauma. Annie writes beautifully in this book and gave me so much insight and connection to God's word!

All I can say is what an amazing transformation God has done in the life of Annie Lobert. The book was so intriguing I couldn't put it down. I love to hear what God can do in a persons life when we finally give into Him and let him take over.

After seeing Annie Lobert on IAmSecond.com I discovered she also had written a book. It is a brave and honest story of her life. She shares the darkest days of her life in the sex industry. Then she inspires you with the latter days (present day) when she let God's light shine brightly...

Intensely amazing. Very intense read, couldn't put it down. The end was so absolutely beautiful that it brought me into tears of happiness several times. Captures a wonderful description of God's love for us. A real life changer!

"Fallen" took me for a ride on an emotional rollercoaster. As an individual who works for an organization that attempts to reach women broken by the sex industry, I've always had trouble understanding why women remain in such horrific situations. Annie's authenticity and willingness to be vulnerable in this book answered a lot of my questions. She doesn't pull punches, and tells stories in-whole: even when they are difficult and heartbreaking to read. Even so, Annie balances the text by conveying her experience with redemption. I would recommend this book to all.

This story is a riveting account into the sex industry. I enjoyed reading this story and thought it was an eye opener. It's a quick easy read - I read it in a day with two toddlers. It would be a great read for somebody looking for something a little more worthwhile than a silly novel but nothing that takes too much mind power ?. I plan on passing it along because I think that's it's a great thing to have an awareness of.

Just through with reading this book and it was a very good narrative read.
I recommend you purchase Annie's book to get a feel for the lifestyle that she went through.
It was a hard read at times due to the abuse by her pimp, and I can't say I understand why she stayed around - all I can do is just accept that this is evidently what happens and it is sad at best.
I suppose no matter how much she compartmentalizes what happened, it still has its negative impacts on her life, so it's great that Annie loves Jesus because only Jesus can help her there.
It's so sad how many people are hurting today, yet will not fill the void in their heart with Jesus.
People choose everything else but their own Creator - so strange really.
Annie ends her book with upbeat lifestyle and spiritual changes, so you will end your reading feeling much better than the miserable beginning - miserable meaning the portrayed actual events that transpired and not the book itself, which was well written with only a couple spelling errors not unlike mine in my comment here... lol.
I liked how Annie's sarcasm kicked in at times such as when the radiologist asked her how Annie was doing when her moving might mean she could be paralyzed, and Annie said, "Just peachy, thanks." Like duhhhhh.
Reminds me of an analogy I use on people for various reasons where I ask why people ask if you're doing alright when you're laying down in the middle of the street in obvious pain, as if you're going to answer; ohhhhhh I'm doing great.
Why I usually just lay down in the middle of the street and look like I'm having a heart attack to make the day go by faster with a bit of excitement... sheesh.
Anyway, Annie has those throughout the book and they're funny, which is a nice breather.
I'm still trying to figure out Annie's picture on the front of the book.
She's definitely talking - the nonverbal communication rushes by me in a wind.
She has a very determined sort of look like she put on her 'Fallen' character for the picture.
It's like she's saying she knows about the other side of life that people don't talk about much, but obviously is very active.
Maybe it's part of that don't judge me, she's just one half of the equation of this story; of this industry she left.
What I find interesting though, is the same as the woman caught in adultery in the Bible - it takes two to commit adultery - where was the guy in that story?
And so it's the same with Annie - it takes two (trick and pay or rather pay and then trick, but still it takes two) sooooo why does she get judged so harshly yet the industry continues thriving behind the scenes?
Truth be told, the very people judging her could quite possibly themselves be secretively a part of that industry.
Seems like the double standards in life are so pervasive and systemic, and throughout the world... very endemic.
So I def recommend this book; it will make you think about things from an insider's perspective, about a world that I skimmed the surface on when I was a deputy sheriff for a couple years.
Peace Annie!
Grace and peace be with you always!

A gal from Minnesota has an overbearing/distant father. She decides at an early age that being a 'good girl' doesn't get her anything so she resorts to an eating disorder to get a hard body. Her family moves around so when she meets guys she crushes on them and soon lets them have their way with her. Evidently because she is easy they dump her so she is crushed.
She goes to parties and smokes and drinks, is offended when a guy aspires to take her. After school she gets a decent job, her friend calls and invites her to Hawaii to be an escort, they make $! When she returns home she tells a co-worker (?!) and gets called into her bosses office. (?!)
She quits her job and does escort work for the locals, a guy tells her about the love of Jesus, she realizes she should not misuse her body for strangers, so she resorts to dancing until she runs out of $.
She meets a guy who she thinks is great, but he is misunderstood, and violent.

I purchased this book as a resource for a research paper, but fell in love with Annie, her story, and girls like her. I had a hard time putting it down! While Annie is real and forthcoming, the story is very tasteful - no language or graphic sexual details are shared. It was refreshing to have an author be real without me feeling like I needed to ask Jesus to forgive me for what I had read! Annie clearly put much time and effort into making her book clean! Not only was this book well written, but so encouraging and really goes to show you how most - if not all - of the women in the sex industry are in so much pain, even though they seem to be happy! I am SO glad that I purchased this book! I hope to work with girls rescued from the sex industry some day and Annie's book will be a HUGE resource! Way to go, Annie! YOU are a HERO! :)

First Impressions
I knew about Annie through the sex trafficking documentary called Nefarious. Her story and ministry impacted me a lot so I didn’t hesitate to enter to this book tour for her book called Fallen.
Content
Fallen is read as a powerful testimony about Annie’s life. Though sex trafficking is real, sometimes we cover our eyes trying to cover the issue from our lives. It feels so foreign to our everyday activities. Unless we personally know someone that has been through this problem, our attitude tends to be that of indifference.
Through Annie’s eyes we read a story that doesn’t start in the drama of being abused by a pimp. She boldly lets us have a glimpse into her childhood, into the interaction with her family. And no, not because it’s the introduction to her life it means it was a happy or easy life, on the contrary, it was a hard one. If you read with a pessimistic view you can easily feel overwhelmed by the many troubles Annie faced when she was young. But as you go through the pages you’ll notice the importance of this experiences being told. You’ll notice a great story of redemption that starts to unfold.
Annie’s experiences as a call girl or sex worker when she was under the control of her pimp, are the central content of Fallen. But believe me, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This story not only serves as a great demonstration of how sex trafficking works or how you can avoid it, but it’s also a great example of God’s love into action in the life of anyone that is willing to accept it.
I’d like to point to the strong, detailed and obvious situations that are mentioned in different parts of this book that some people can find extreme, offensive or unnecessary. I strongly believe they are completely necessary to illustrate the reality we’re living as a society and many of us is not willing to accept. One the other hand, I’d suggest guidance through the reading if you’re underage as many questions and doubts may arise.
Conclusion
Yes, Fallen is a book about sex trafficking but it’s also a book about God’s power to deliver those in bondage, to embrace those who feel unloved and to give purpose to those who feel trapped. Annie’s story is a reminder of man’s evil, but most important, of God’s goodness. Make sure you stop by Annie’s ministry, Hookers 4 Jesus to know more about sex trafficking and how you can get involved.
I received this book from Worthy Publishing in exchange for this review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I like to consider myself an expert on human trafficking because I am a survivor myself. Although each time I read a book written by a survivor of trafficking, I learn something new. My trafficker had us (his girls) work for escort services on occasions. I always thought those 'other girls' the ones who worked for escort services were too smart and strong to end up in a situation like my own. Thank you for sharing your life with us Annie. Thank you for educating us.
This book will give some a new look into what the world of sex trafficking can look like. I appreciate the education of sex trafficking at the end of the book - giving credit to all who have fallen victim to predators. It's nice to know that I am not alone in the world, I have yet another sister who completely understands the pain I have been through while chasing the Prince Charming that Disney fed to us as children.

I just want to say that Annie has personally changed my entire life.
It was her book that opened my eyes to the life I to was trapped in. It was her book that gave me the courage to walk out of a life of selling my soul for money and giving it to God.
I became a born again Christian and have embraced Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. My dream is step into a similar destiny, of telling people in the World my own testimony and being a Warrior for Christ against the sex industry as Annie is.
I love you Annie and I love your Facebook and Twitter updates and teatchings. Your a true inspiration in my life!
Thank you so very much Annie for listening to the voice of God and putting this book out into the World for women just like me!!!

Sad, but then ultimately uplifting story - well worth reading. As Annie says, most readers might not be part of the sex industry, but we all have our own issues that might take a different form, but ultimately are just as difficult to deal with - maybe even more so because we can try to convince ourselves that "I'm not like that...". Bottom line, Annie did a great job summarizing key parts of her life, not blaming others, but showing the impact of others. She does a great job explaining why women (and men I suppose) stay in the sex industry. And best of all, she talks about how Jesus reached out to her and changed her life. Good insights include parts of her life changing very quickly after conversion, but others taking time.

WOW! That's what I said when I finished the book. Believe me when I tell you that WOW! describes this book and the story behind it. I received the book, Fallen: Out of The Sex Industry And Into The Arms of The Savior by Annie Lobert as part of my exclusive membership with First Look at Worthy Publishing, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn Annie's amazing story of redemption and the work she is doing now as a result of her life experiences.
Be warned - this book has a very abrupt beginning that is a bit hard to read. It begins with Annie - whose alter ego, "Fallen" carries her through the tough times - is face down in a pile of animal feces in a yard, having just undergone a horrible, violent beating by her pimp. Once we make it through the beating, readers are led through Annie's life history leading up to this horrific event.
We learn of Annie's early beginnings growing up in a tumultuous home in a small town struggling with the regular issues that young girls experience. Added to the common issues of self worth and feeling unloved, she is sexually abused as a teenager and abused by boys in exchange for the promise of love. Annie gets out of that small town and heads to Hawaii, where she and her friend find it easy to earn thousands of dollars sometimes for as little as taking of their clothes. Annie believes that money will bring her power and power will help her have revenge over men because of the men she felt caused her harm or broke her heart. The lure of money causes her to chase her "dream" and greed consumes her as she heads to California and then ends up in Las Vegas where she became a very sought-after "high-class" escort.
While Annie is in the land of glitter and lights, Las Vegas brings her something entirely different than the fairytale dream she is chasing. It isn't long before Annie's dream of riches and power become darkened by abuse, loneliness, arrests and rapes. She leaves the pimp she believes she loves so dearly in her own very skewed way of thinking, but repeatedly returns to him after his phony promises, only to receive more beatings, more abuse, and more violence. This book shares the details of what I consider to be the unthinkable horrors of the profession. If she stayed and didn't make enough money, she was beat. If she left her pimp, she was beat. Either way, Annie was a prisoner of her captor, her pimp.
Finally, after yet another near death beating, Annie begins her journey toward getting out of the sex trafficking industry of prostitution. After being diagnosed and treated for cancer, Annie finds herself near death from a drug overdose and finally surrenders to the love of Jesus.
While I have never walked in Annie's shoes, I have my own story of God redemption from the terrible life choices I was making. Those who know me really know the depths of my story and know what a walking miracle I am thanks to our Savior. That being said, Annie's story is even MORE powerful than I could ever imagine and it reminds me again how very powerful our Almighty God really is and how much grace he showers over each of us who ask for his safety and love.
Just like me (and many other Christ followers), Annie has been redeemed by God's grace. Annie Lobert's story is yet another example of the fact that no matter how far you have fallen, God loves you and wants to save you from the depths of any pain, trauma, addiction, or abuse, and He wants to give you a new life.
About the Author: Annie Lobert is a survivor of more than a decade of sex trafficking—working as an exotic dancer and a high-class escort prostituted in Hawaii, Minneapolis, and Las Vegas. She is an internationally recognized expert and advocate of ministry to men and women in the commercial sex industry from her personal experience. She and her husband, Oz Foxx, lead guitarist for the rock band Stryper, live in Las Vegas, Nevada. Today Annie Lobert is called to rescue other victims suffering the same pain and traveling the same road of sex trafficking through her organization called Hookers for Jesus.

I know a lot of us think our life is really hard. We think every day that life could be easier or we would want it to be easier. But there are people out there that have actually had hard lives compared to some of us. I know a lot of times I think my life is hard (being a single mom, working almost full time and homeschooling), but I have to tell myself that there are other people out there who are having a harder time with life than I am and would give anything to be in my position than what they are in.
Annie Lobert had a tough life, but like most determined people, she found a way out. Life didn't start out well for her at all. She was sexually abused at a young age and then turned to prostitution or more or less a high class call girl. During her life as a high class call girl, she met a couple of men who didn't treat her the way she should have been and had to enduring beatings and abandonment. On top of that, she developed cancer and became addicted to cocaine.
The only thing that could happen to Annie Lobert was to either die or turn her life around. She decided to rely on God and turn her life around. Relying on him heavily helped her see that there were others that could benefit from her story. She decided to let others know that there is hope by participating in speakings and ministries. And as luck would have it, through it all, she found her prince charming.
Towards the end of the book, there is a section on sex trafficking. It gives you a deeper understanding of what it is and how it is done. There is also a section of testimonies from girls who have attended the Destiny House Ministry. You will be amazed at some of these stories that you read.
I have read a couple of "sex trafficking" stories, but this one was different. It was written in a way that you could truly feel for Annie Lobert. I practically read the book in one sitting. I think if you were to get this book, you would enjoy it and realize that no matter where your life is and how hard it may be/feel, that God can pull you through and push you to the top, just like he did for Annie Lobert.

FTC disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for review purposes.
At one point in time I would have thought that a Christian book written by a former prostitute could not happen. But it did. Her story is one that will touch you and make you more aware of the sex industry.
Fallen is a difficult book to read, but one that was just as hard to put down. It details how Annie Lobert became a sex worker, her life in the sex industry, and her escape from her pimp. It does have some very adult situations in it but please don't let that stop you from reading it. She handles them with as much class as possible, but it's hard to be classy when telling about how she was abused by multiple men.
This book makes it easy to see how girls and women become prostitutes. As Ms. Lobert states, no one dreams of being a call girl when they grow up -- something happens. Also, one thing I didn't realize was that if a prostitute has a pimp, she is considered sex trafficked because she is not able to leave on her own and the pimp will require her to give him all her money.
While the author made some bad choices, I felt so much compassion for her through the book. She fell in love with her pimp and had to endure things she never thought possible. Her escort service tried to keep her into bondage debt, saying she owed them $65,000 for when she couldn't work when she was getting treatment from cancer.
This is a glimpse inside the unthinkable. Ms. Lobert was one of the lucky ones. She was able to escape. She fell deeply in love with Jesus. She wanted to make use of her past, and she's back on the strip trying to help others who have been sex trafficked to escape.
This book was fascinating. I can't say it was enjoyable because of the subject matter, but it's one I highly recommend. It was an intense book and one I could not read straight through as I am sometimes apt to do. I would read about what she endured and then have to put it down for a little while. It was absolutely amazing how much pain and abuse she endured as well as how much she was able to tell in 208 pages. Annie's life story is one that needs to be told so that hopefully her life can help prevent others from making the same mistakes she did, make others more aware of the sex industry so they can spot victims, and hopefully inspire people to help those who are escaping, be it by donating to the charity that Annie has started or volunteering.

I wanted to hear this given in Annie Lobert's voice (she does indeed read it in the Audible edition) rather than reading it myself, because it shows a lot more passion and feeling in hearing her read her story, so I listened to it through Audible. This was a great book!
Annie gives a detailed account of her life, starting with her struggles growing up and abuses she endured, to when she started to seek attention from guys and sold her body, to how poorly her pimp treated her (very intense), to the broken relationships she endured while being a high class call girl, and ultimately how Jesus found her and lifted her out of the muck she was in. She shows much love and now works with Destiny House to help women who are just as she once was, victims of human trafficking who are looking for love and in need of a Savior. I truly adore this woman and have heard her talk here and there in various interviews but never really knew all she went through until I "read" this book.
Keep on shining a light, you lover of Christ!

You can’t go too far where God doesn’t know where to find you. You can’t get so deep that He can’t pick you up and turn you around.
“Fallen” was her alter ego. Sophisticated, strong, unshakeable and dissociated from Annie. A constant power rush, hefty bank account, dreams and plans, decked out in luxury boutique clothing, even important and special, she told herself. So fearless, confident, and in charge was Fallen that Annie sank deeper and deeper into oblivion. “Get on with yourself, Annie. Step aside so Fallen can get this money—she will handle everything just fine.” Fallen had the power. She had the control, but the tiny spark would soon be a roaring, uncontrollable fire that would destroy everything around her.
“It is my fault.
I am a bad girl.
God is angry with me.
I deserve this.
God is punishing me for my lifestyle.
It’s too late to leave. I will die here, trapped.”
Sometimes what seems to be a bad situation just turned worse is really God’s mercy. If He hems us in, and the only way out is up, we just might cry out like Annie “God, please help me. Heal me. Help.” When Christ delivers, He takes everything bad you’ve ever experienced and works it out in your favor. “God will redeem everything if we are willing to trust and believe in Him.”
“I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.”—Martin Luther

Annie Lobert is a true survivor.
In her book Fallen, she recounts years of abuse in the sex industry.
But how does a normal teenage girl end up here?
Annie shares this as well.
Growing up feeling unloved and unwanted by the men in her life, she craved attention, affection and love.
Annie believed she had finally found it in a man named Julian, but he would only use and abuse her again and again and again.
This book was hard to read, I found myself clenching my jaw through the painful parts- hurting for Annie and all of the other women in the world going through this hell on earth.
Why not run? Just leave this terrible life behind?
Annie explains…in vivid detail.
Does not Satan himself masquerade as an angel of light?
Annie’s story is heart-wrenching.
It made me cry, it made me angry.
It opened my eyes to the reality I can no longer ignore.
These women need a Savior…thank God for Annie, her testimony and her ministry.

"Fallen" is, at times, a dark memoir, and at other times it is hopeful and inspirational. Written by Annie Lobert, a former sex worker (i.e., stripper, escort, and prostitute. It chronicles the mis-adventures of a beautiful teenager who grew up in a terribly dysfunctional family, was sexually abused, and just wanted to be loved.
To go into great detail of the book would present way too many spoilers. Let's just say that it is an autobiographical look of how far one can fall into depravity because of sin, association, and poor decisions. However, it is also a look of how one can be raised from the gutter to new life through the grace of Christ's atonement.
This book isn't for young people. At the same time it may be appropriate for a parent to share with a teen who may be walking a moral tightrope. I think this book is a must read for every parent of teenagers. I thought I was pretty well "in the know" about stuff like this. But I quickly found out that I was quite wrong.
I can't say that I "LOVED" the book, because of its frightening and disturbing content. But, I did find the book very enlightening and educational.
You will, though, rejoice with Annie as she works to remove herself from her behaviors and her addictions. It is, at the end of the day, a book of grace.
I received a copy of this book as an ARC from the publisher (Worthy Publishing) in exchange for an honest and timely review. I have no ties with the author or publisher. You will also find this review on the store.com, and my blog: [email protected].

From my own blog review about the book Creative Christian Moments - Blog Article 42: A Review of Annie Lobert's Book Fallen
How far can one person fall away that the grace of God of could never reach them? It is a question that dwells within my thoughts and was also a focal point for my own recently released novel examining the issue of human trafficking. The answer to this question is often the key to unlocking the Gospel message for some while paradoxically becoming a stumbling block to those engrossed in the bondage of their own sin. The answer to this rhetorical question is “not far enough” to those who would turn from their sin in repentance and believe in the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. If anyone would understand this concept the best, author Annie Lobert would given the miraculous story of her conversion to Christianity.
Lobert writes, “No matter how far you have fallen, God loves you and wants to save you from the depths of any pain, trauma, addiction, or abuse. And He longs to give you a new life.” (Hooker for Jesus, 2015, n.p.). “That night...I died inside,” speaks Lobert as she remembers the five years she spent as a prostitute in Las Vegas seduced by the false views of love and the desire of fast money (I Am Second, 2012). Her reputation drew a vast audience of celebrities and even politicians desiring for the services of the infamous call girl known as “Fallen.”
Lobert's book is an emotionally hard read given the heart breaking situations and scenarios she has experienced. But like all great authors before her, it's these tales that must be told because they illustrate the never ending amazing grace offered through the Gospel. The burning questions inside my mind while I read her book were always “why” or “how” as to what drives an individual into this lifestyle. But like many testimonies I have read in the past, Lobert's childhood abuse sends her on a spiraling journey into darkness that becomes thicker and thicker as the years progress in her life leading her into a vicious cycle of prostitution, physical trauma, and drug addiction. But Lobert's story does not end in darkness...In the depths of suffering, Christ's Gospel message traverses into her life through a drug overdose. “Jesus please save me. I don't know if you're real but I don't want to die...” she cried out after taking an especially high dose of drugs to end her life (I Am Second, 2012). In that moment of absolute surrender, Christ's redemption invaded her life as a group of EMTs showed up in time to revive her. But Lobert's story does not end with the conclusion of her autobiography.
Much like the parable of the potter's clay, God has taken what has seemed plain and useless by the world's standards and used her life to birth a ministry called Hookers for Jesus. Say what?! Hookers for Jesus?! Do not let the provocative statement turn you off from investigating this ministry. Hookers for Jesus is a whimsical play on words with a purposeful outreach to those in the adult industry and prostitution with the Gospel message. The ministry name alludes to the passage of Matthew 4:19 in which Jesus instructs Peter and Andrew to be fishers of men (this includes women, too). “That's what I'm called to do. To simply tell them that God loves you,” states Lobert as she describes her calling in reach out to women caught up in the live of prostitution (I Am Second, 2012).
As Christians, we tend to pass judgment too quickly before understanding the pain someone is in.
Despite Las Vegas's reputation as Sin City, Christ's Gospel light is shining the brightest as many ground breaking ministries arise within this eleventh hour window of opportunity to reach the lost. These admirable men and women deserve out utmost support as they purposely reach into the jaws of societal Hell and snag broken men and women out of these flames of bondage. They truly emulate the hands and feet of Christ's continue ministry.
How can you support Lobert and her ministry to reach the broken? The best method: prayer, prayer, and more prayer given the intense spiritual warfare occurring between light and darkness associated with the nature of the culture Lobert and her team are ministering to with the Gospel message. You can also purchase a copy of her book or donate to her ministry Hookers for Jesus. Lobert's book is one of the most eye-witnessing accounts one will read about the truth behind adult industry. Schedule Lobert for your next ministry event involving how to outreach and provide resources for men and women enslaved to prostitution, the adult industry, or human trafficking. May the life of Lobert inspire all of us to reach out to the marginalized members of our society with the greatest gift one could offer them: the good news of the Gospel message.

I love reading about other people's lives and stories. This book is not an easy read and many times made me sick to my stomach as people continued to do horrible things to Annie. I can't imagine living her life and it's truly evident that God had plans for her to survive and write this book today.
Annie doesn't make her life seem like a dream or blame all of her bad decisions on other people. She started out innocent and then quickly the money drew her into prostitution. It's interesting because the majority of the book is set in Vegas but I feel like while it's "illegal" it's not seen as bad as long as done in secret. A lot of this book was frustrating to read because she lived an endless cycle but she explains things about that mindset. While I'm sure this book was hard to write she wrote it well and I think it's an incredible story to be heard.
Obviously there are many things in this book that you wouldn't want a very young person to read about. While she isn't explicit- she still has to tell her story.
I highly recommend if you like reading about changed lives for Christ!

I am reading this again for the third time. I love Jesus and the struggle is real in this Fallen world. I too was infatuated with the world of Dynasty ..I sought out to create my life of adventure , fame and fortune. Instead I became a promiscuous alcoholic and addict. Annie's testimony is Jesus Christ's glory. She spells out all the gory , painful details in a way that I wish I could. But, I know that if He can do all this for Annie and use her to help so many other women then He can use me too. Her story is riveting and captivating. But her testimony of redemption is worth shouting from the rooftops !

FTC Disclaimer: Worthy Publishing sent me a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review. I was also contacted by First Look Blog Tour requesting that I be a part of the blog tour campaign. The views / opinions below are entirely my own.
I am so excited to be part of this blog tour because I really loved this book! I went into it without any expectations really, the synopsis just sounded like it had the makings for a powerful read that I could relate to on some level, as I've had my own hardcore battles with demons. Seeing that it had a recommendation from Korn's Brian Welch caught my attention, because I have heard parts of his story in interviews (have not read his autobio yet but it's on the list!) and have been really impressed with his story of what he's overcome. Within the first couple chapters of Fallen, I knew this book was a keeper that I'd be re-reading in years to come. I wrote a really extensive review on this which you can read here:

This is the second book I've read about sex trafficking/sex industry. Fallen started out kind of slow for me, but the more I read...the more I wanted to know more about her story.
I think Annie is amazing for being able to get out of that life and live her life for Jesus Christ, & for being able to tell her story. My favorite part in this book was when she talked about learning to forgive herself.
I know it is so hard to do.
I know Annie will probably never read this review, but I am grateful for you Annie! Thank-you, Annie, for taking the time to write this book.

A beautiful story of God’s saving grace, and a wonderful picture of Isaiah 59:1 that God’s arm is not too short. Annie Lobert is a very courageous woman who lived through horrific circumstances, and is now allowing God to use her to rescue precious women who need to know the love of Jesus Christ. If you want compassion to grow in your heart, read this book!

In Fallen, Annie Lobert tells of her experience in and out of the sex industry with raw honesty and vulnerability. Though the story is filled with devastating pain, exploitation and brokenness and difficult to read at times due to the subject material, Lobert beautifully captures the power of redemption, forgiveness and love. The way she can use her experience to speak of God inspires and encourages in the face of human depravity, and I am glad to have read it. Incredible and eye-opening, Annie Lobert’s Fallen is definitely worth a read. I highly, highly recommend it.

"Fallen" is an incredible autobiography by Annie Lobert focusing on Lobert's slow descent into the sex industry (more specifically prostitution) and even slower rise to help others liker herself. Lobert writes with clear, tasteful language. Her story captivates readers from beginning to end. A word of caution, however: Lobert testifies to her Charismatic beliefs (she has spoken in tongues, which critics could easily say was influenced by Lobert's self-admitted psychological condition) and Joyce Meyers played a major "mama" role in Lobert's conversion to Christianity. I found her associations interesting considering Lobert condemns materialism and teaches readers to submit in obedience to God, both teachings that I can agree with. Meyers comes from a background of sexual abuse and has a great deal of positive things to say about freedom from captivity. However, she is also associated with the Prosperity Gospel movement, and, to me at least, that is just a hop, skip and jump away from the even more blasphemous Word of Faith movement. I can't judge Lobert, though. She has accomplished a great deal, and her love for Jesus and Scripture is apparent. Her book, itself, contains no explicit false teaching. But I cannot lie. I was taken aback at her admittances after being so fully invested in the book up to that point.

This gripping autobiography tells the story of how a nice, educated, middle-class girl ended up in the sex trade – and how she found faith and escaped from that life. Annie Lobert, founder of Hookers for Jesus, tells her story with frankness and energy, and I really appreciated her honesty of her own faults, as well as the injustice and terrifying nature of the sex industry. I found myself in admiration of her tenacity and strength, particularly in recovering from her pimp’s repeated and horrific beatings. It’s an easy and quick read, and though the Bible reflections are interesting, the book is strongest when she is telling her story and the story of others in the sex industry. Recommended.

Incredible testimony to the grace and power of Jesus Christ! Absolute transparency and detail tell Annie's heart breaking story with an outstanding ending. I admire her for her bravery in sharing her story and bringing awareness to the sex trafficking that is going on today. I pray that Annie's story is read and heard all across the world...all for the glory of God!

Like many small town girls, Annie Lobert dreamed of the big city and the big dollars she thought would bring her happiness and material comfort. What she found was violence, pain, and a sort of modern day slavery that has not garnered the attention of modern day historians or philosophers.
In her autobiography Fallen: Out of the Sex trade and into the Arms of the Savior, Annie tells her story in an honest and unabashed way. She makes no excuses for her lifestyle and because of her honesty, it is believable. As I read her story, I was understood the lost child that the young girl from Minneapolis was. I could see how mesmerizing the glitz and glitter of the big city could be and how the lavish attention of handsome men could feed the hunger in her young soul. Annie's story is not an easy one. It is hard to come face to face with the consequences of our bad decisions. What is important is her honesty, especially as she walks us through her conversion to Christ. She shows us how important it is to be in a community of believers that help us to grow and mature in our walk.
This book was a good read, not an easy one, but a good one. Annie chose not to sugar coat her sin, and its reality is something that should resonate with all of us. In portraying her life as she did, the reality of the Grace of the Gospel was made more evident. Though some may think they cannot identify with her seemingly dramatic conversion, in truth, Annie's life shows that we are all the same in God's eyes in our sin and are all dependent upon His Grace and love for our life and meaning.
Annie has not abandoned the community that is so much of her story. Now, she seeks to serve her Savior by sharing the love of Christ with others involved in the sex trade. She founded a ministry whose mission is to combat the harmful effects of prostitution, sex trafficking and exploitation by providing hope through Jesus Christ and providing both emotional and spiritual healing and assistance. With her enthralling debut memoir "Fallen: Out of the Sex Industry and Into the Arms of the Savior" Annie Lobert recalls her captivating life story from her beginnings in Minneapolis MN to becoming an exotic dancer and a high class call-girl escorting in Hawaii and Las Vegas, NV. Eventually she would break away from the powerful lure of the sex industry, renew her Christian faith, and begin a street ministry for victims of sex trafficking. Many thanks to Worthy Publishing for the signed ARC provided for the purpose of review.
In 1967, Lobert was born into a Catholic home with an older sister and two younger brothers, where she observed her parents volatile marriage, her father a strict harsh disciplinarian. Lobert hated school and not fitting in with the other students, wishing to live independently. At a young age, she turned to boys and romance seeking the attention and validation she was unable to get from her parents, this would continue into adulthood.
As a beautiful young woman, Lobert was surprised at the attention, amount of money made, and the luxury she could have going on dates, which didn't compare to the low pay/wages earned by average employment. Lured into the escort service and prostitution, she fell deeply in love with her pimp Julian, and lived to win his approval and love. A typical pimp, Julian was about total control through his horrific and severe beatings, battery, lies and abuse. With the lifestyle, she gradually became addicted to cocaine. Lobert discussed the challenges she had breaking the cycle of addiction, abuse, and dependency: (from the book)... "Though I serviced men in different capacities for a living, I still longed for companionship, for a genuine connection."
After the final break with Julian, Lobert's life didn't immediately change for the best. From November 9, 1995 - January 1996 she was treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma, with a grueling treatment of radiation therapy. During this time she lost a beloved family member in a tragic death.
Lobert's spirituality felt stronger after a trip to Italy/Vatican, she began following Joyce Meyer ministries which helped restore her Christian faith, and she would eventually begin her own street ministry: Hookers For Jesus, which is based out of Las Vegas NV, where she lives with her husband Oz Fox, Stryper lead guitarist. Lobert's work has been featured on many popular television shows and notable publications.

I enjoyed this book very much and feel the story is well told. As a Catholic, I especially appreciated reading about Annie's spiritual calling and turning her life over to Jesus after years of living in the dark. There is a difference between the Catholic and the non-Catholic Christian belief system, but either way, we all love Jesus, and that is ultimately the whole point!
I empathize with and can relate to so much of what Annie and the women in her testimonials share. It is refreshing to read a book that provides such raw candor, especially given the topic.
There are a couple of instances in the story that left me a bit confused, but this is simply my own perspective, and does not necessarily reflect the viewpoints of other readers. Without providing too much detail that could spoil it for those who have not yet read the book, I'll just say that there were two instances in the story where the relationship between two people could've been expanded upon in order to provide greater clarity for the reader. But I give the author credit for cramming years of her life within a few hundred pages, which must've been difficult to do, and other than these two instances, I found the rest of the book to flow smoothly, with a strong emphasis on significant detail and character development.
I will definitely recommend this book to my friends and anyone I encounter who has fallen from grace and seeks to find the light of the Lord. Thank you, Annie, for being courageous in sharing your story and helping countless people in the process!

One word – intense. Annie Lobert’s account of how she was able to break free from the bondage of prostitution and into the arms of Jesus. Running to sin or running to Jesus. It seems like a no-brainer, but each of us is running to something and many times it’s not Jesus until we have come to the end of ourselves. Annie came to the end of herself and in doing so, came to the beginning of glory.
Her insecurities and her longing for approval from her father was one of the few things I was able to relate to Annie’s life. Something I never thought about was how insecurities can put you in bondage and how it can harden your heart towards the things of God. Confess those insecurities if this is you as well. It was in these hidden sins that seem harmless, that took her to the road of prostitution. She hits the nail on the head by comparing prostitution to any sin that holds us.
How can this happen? Why would you want to stay in a lifestyle of abuse that is both physical and emotional? Annie hits a home run on to what kept her there and the unhealthy love that she had for her pimp.
How she broke free is glory.
This is the only concern I have and I would be amiss not to say, but please do not be encouraged to follow the teaching of Joyce Meyer. Please google her false teaching and you will find a slew of teaching that is not aligned with scripture. Joyce Meyer plays the victim/entitlement card way too much for my taste. The bible is about sinners not victims. There are victims and many times we fall into being a victim, but we also victimize as well. Annie was both the victim and she also preyed on others as well. Annie is honest about her role in how her she fell into the lifestyle and she has insight to her own weakness.
I appreciated her honesty and praise God that she is using the evil for good in leading others out of the sex industry to the arms of Jesus.

My name is Jennifer. I absolutely love this book primarily because the passion that Annie has for Jesus and His love. Her story of redemption is a miraculous story of freedom. Coming from the industry myself, love is the most foreign emotion to us. After meeting Annie personally and reading her book, as well as the ladies whom she teamed up with here in Tacoma, WA, I literally have felt Gods tangible love through His people. I have hope! If Annie can make it, so can I!

I bought the audio version of Fallen! To hear Annie herself tell in her own words and emotions about the life of being in the sex industry in detail and how she was treated looking for love in it. Then finding the true Love of God who brought her out of it, and how God brought her back to it to help those currently in the sex industry to find the true Love of God and not the love they look for in the industry and material things to try to bring them comfort! Also she shares how only God can bring you True Love in your own life and that you are so important to Him no matter what you are going through or have gone through! He created You! Thank you Annie for sharing your life story with us!

This is a beautiful and enlightening book about the world of prostitution, now more commonly known as sex trafficking. Ms. Lobert took responsibility for her own actions and decisions, but also graphically detailed the psychological abuse and manipulation, as well as physical abuse, that both lure and keep girls and women in this business. It transformed the way I look at "prostitution" because now I know that the women and girls turn over all of the money they earn, and with it, all control over their lives, including where they live, what they buy, who they see, and how much they work. Ms. Lobert detailed her efforts to escape the business, and the financial and practical hurdles, in addition to the terrible physical abuse inflicted by pimps/sex traffickers upon those who try to leave. I admire Ms. Lobert for starting her organization to help other survivors escape "the life," heal and move on. A fascinating, well-written book.

I'm not a in the sex industry but I wanted to read Annie Loberts book after seeing an interview with her and just seeing how much she loves and trusts the Lord! I did grow up in a very abusive home both mentally and sexually and I've tried so hard to break the chain of abuse...but the years have been hard on me, I've been addicted to prescription drugs, alcohol, extra marital affair and many other worldy things just to stop the pain....of course with no success! During that time I turned my back and God and was convinced that he would never love me due to all the horrible things in life I have done but, after seeing Annie's interview and reading her book I know know God does still want me and love me! It's not going to be an easy road but if Annie and her lovely ladies can do it so can I! I encourage you to read this book even if your not in the sex industry God works his way into our lives thru many avenues and I believe this is one of them! thank you Annie for sharing your story and showing everyone God is good and does and will forgive us.

Wow... Thank you Annie for this amazing, raw, and truthful testimony of the reality that you lived through. "Fallen" reminds us all of how deceitful the promises of this world can be… as well as, how our own hearts can fool us. It is also the proof once again, that the mercy, love and redemption of our Lord Jesus Christ stands more magnificent and powerful than we could ever imagine. I thank God for your willingness to share your story and the many lives that will be impacted because of it.

This was an amazing book! Annie was completely transparent with the details of her life, so you could walk it with her and feel her restoration and redemption from Jesus Christ. We need more Christians to tell their stories, so that others will be drawn to the only who can save us. I highly reccommend this book.

I'm probably doing something stupid now. What should an atheist be writing about a book written by Annie Lobert? I've just been flipping through the first 50 or so book reviews, they are all written by Christians I think. I was a Christian too when I started following Annie and a few other icons like Shelley Lubben. I lost these christian beliefs (due to experiencing christian un-forgiveness at some point) but I still empathize a lot with these people. I, too, believe their story is honest, and heartwarming. I just don't believe in a god anymore - so at this point I have a bit of a dissimilar view on the overall picture we have about prostitution and so on. Maybe the best way to express it is with a line I saw in one of the reviewer comments here, it said this: "This is a beautiful and enlightening book about the world of prostitution, now more commonly known as sex trafficking".
Aaah - and this is where I depart from the "established course" of a Jesus-only answer to the world's problems, including things like prostitution. I don't think this is the fault of Annie's book (I certainly hope not), but there is a general misperception which I saw most often emerging among Christians: the idea that all prostitution is related to trafficking. The problem with this is the negative effects of this view on legitimate sex workers. Because women - including sex workers - deserve respect and deserve protection from violence. But how are we protecting them if we stigmatize all sex work as some kind of evil (like sex trafficking)? By being so careless - whether or not in the name of God (that doesn't make any difference) - we keep non-trafficked sex workers hostage in a criminal context, where they will never be treated like human beings, but rather like people who have chosen a lifestyle that simply demands bad treatment. Like they are sealing their own fate (the bad treatment) because they do sex work.
I'm still following the reasoning in the comment of this reviewer - which is common among Christians but (I assume) not necessarily Annie Lobert's view - who, in appendix A of her book, is offering a definition of sex trafficking that includes coercion and deception. But it worries me when her readers conclude that sex trafficking would be another term for "the world of prostitution".
In the end, the danger I see in the land of Christianity boils down to something like this: Sex workers / prostitutes who do their job out of free choice, may nevertheless be seen by many Christians as people who are just plain stupid because they do not follow "the way of Jesus". And this would, of course, not be Christian. It would be a terrible form of ignorance with potential horrific results, wherever politicians would ever decide to follow such a reasoning. Women deserve better than this of course. I'm pretty sure Annie would agree at this point.
The point being: Jesus is not necessarily the one and only answer to problems such as sex trafficking. People who take their responsibility in this world, to fight against all abuse (of children, women, and often young boys and young men as well) may contribute all the same to a better world. As long as we can agree on this, I will be happy to recommend "the way of Jesus" as one possible way out of trouble. I may be atheist, but that doesn't mean I hate religion - far from it: I would recommend religion to anyone who is served well by it. If religion is the way you can create meaning, make life meaningful, then go for it, please. Just know that other people may deal with things differently, in a way that works well for them.

This is one powerful book. Annie's story of redemption is powerful, honest, but most importantly it is a real story about a real girl who got sucked into the sex industry. If you're looking for a great book that you wont be able to put down, this is a must read!

Wow! What a story of transformation. It is so easy to lose our sense of self worth and impossible to regain on our own. Annie's transformation into a dynamic representative of Jesus is a inspiration to us all.
Though I am posting this under my wife's account, this is my, Bob Zangger's assessment. Thank you Annie for courageously sharing your journey with the world.

This is the story of a former prostitute and high end escort, Annie Lobert, who very candidly shares about her life, holding nothing back. It is a sweet take of redemption, grace, and love. God turned her deep pain and the ashes of her broken dreams into beauty.

I was inspired to pick up this book after hearing the Life of St. Mary of Egypt in my Church. I am Eastern Orthodox. It tells the story of a prostitute turned Saint who became one of the greatest symbols of repentance in the entire Church. That being said, reading Annie's book was leak reading the tale of a modern day St. Mary of Egypt. It truly brought me to tears, and inspired to start donating to her charity Hookers For Jesus. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone Christian or otherwise.

What an amazing story! A must read. A shocking window into the black hole of prostitution. It's hard to imagine one person having gone through all the trauma and darkness that she describes, and yet so many do. But this is such a hope-filled story! Her healing journey is one so heartfelt and transparent, it takes you on your own. And her call to go back and help others trapped within the same darkness is inspiring. Do buy this book.

I found this book amusing for all the wrong reasons. 80% sounded like bragging about material goods and being the best high class call girl, 10% my pimp is violent and 10% God loves me so much I'm living my dreams now. She never grew out of the values she learned from Dallas and Dynasty growing up in the 80's.
