The Secret Zoo: Secrets and Shadows

I need to research what other books this author has written, my 7 year old and I both love this book. I read it with him every night before bed and every time we finish a book in the series we immediately download the next. I don't know if this will be the final book in the series as I do like things to eventually come to a close....but this author is a TOP notch kids writer. Even enjoyable for adults....great to have your kids read on their own or read to them....absolutely amazing!

My 8yr old daighter and I were browsing the store for new books to order her after she finished a previous multibook series. She's in 3rd grade and loving reading chapter books. We saw this one pop up and after reading the quick synopses she decided to try it out so we bought it. She hasn't wanted to put it down since she got it!!! She's excited there's a second book as well. This one is reasonably thicker than other chapter books in her reading range so she didn't fly through nearly as quickly as her favorite series Key Hunters. That's actually a plus for us because all other chapter books in her reading level she manages to read in a matter of 2 or 3 days. I highly recommend this book for anyone with a kiddo into magic and animals on a 3rd grade or higher reading level!!!

AWESOME!!! It was the best book in the history of books! it has a lot of adventure and animals( I <3 animal's!). This is definitely something I recommend for all ages! Get this book! You will not be disappointed! I promise!

My daughter poured through the first three books and was eagerly awaiting the fourth. She got about 3/4 of the way through the book and got really scared and now she won't pick it up. I tried to read it with her, but she is just too scared. I am so disappointed in the way this one ends... and the level of intensity with the violence. It may not seem like much to an adult, but to a little girl that was passionate about these books it is a disappointment that she is too afraid to finish it.

After you read this, you will agree with me. This is a five star book. I loved the second book as much as I loved the first book. It had a perfect translation from the first book to the second book. It all made sense. Bryan Chick is a wonderful author. He is so smart and creative. I couldn't even put the book down when I was done reading for the day. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read adventure, humorous, scary, and mystery books. And I can not wait to read the third book!

Purchased The Secret Zoo for my granddaughter and found out she had already read it. She was very excited about the book and said she had liked it very much, and suggested I read it. So I did. And enjoyed it very much.

As an elementary school librarian, I'm always on the lookout for exciting books that will engage my 3rd-5th grade students. I'm half way through THE SECRET ZOO and I can't wait until Monday so that I can share this book with the children during their library visits. It will make a great read aloud as well as a wonderful book for students that enjoy mystery, nature, animals and a intriguing, fast-paced adventure. I just ordered a second copy as I know the first one will be well-worn by the end of the school year. I don't know why this book isn't also marketed for adults as I am sure that older "kids" would enjoy it just as much as the younger ones will!

I absolutely loved this book. My previous record for finishing a book is about 5 hours to read the hunger games. I never thought it could be shattered, but this book has done it. I could not put it down. I just finished it a few minutes ago, an I will CERTAINLY buy the next book. The author creates a story with such imagination it's mind blowing. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book.
