"Atticus" is written by Sawyer Bennett, and it is a stand alone novel. It features Hazel Roundtree and her dog, Atticus.

I simply adore this novel! It was so heartwarming, so beautiful... just everything you want in a story that will bring a smile to your face. Normally when I read stories, it's either in the 1st person, 3rd person, or the different point of views of the hero and heroine. In this story, it's a little different! We get the point of views from both Hazel and Atticus. That, right there, is what made this story fun and unique! How I imagine a dog would think and react is exactly how Atticus thought and reacted.

I don't what to give too much away, but Hazel rescued Atticus at a point in her life where she needed uplifting. She just went through a painful breakup with her ex-husband, and everything was going downhill. Who knew that this playful puppy would bring such a big change in her life for the better! She will meet new people and get a new job because of Atticus. Atticus loves Hazel so much, and you will see that throughout the whole story.

"Atticus" is simply one of those books you don't want to put down. I smiled and laughed the whole time. The ending brought tears to my eyes -- twice, to be exact. Wonderful job by Sawyer Bennett! Hands down one of the best stories I have ever read!

Kicked out of her home by her cheating husband, Hazel Roundtree is just getting by. Her prospects are few. Down on her luck, she's just steps away from being homeless when she finds a puppy hurt in a drainage ditch. She saves him, and so begins her story.

Having a puppy under her current circumstances is almost impossible, but Hazel works hard and finds ways to keep this puppy in her life. This story is really a testament to helping others and how it can change your life and theirs.

I really loved this story. When I started it, I was so worried that it was going to be a dark tale. Hazel's life at the beginning of this book is not good, but that one decision to help the puppy changes her life over the course of the book. I loved Hazel's transformation from where she was at the start of the story to where she is at the end of the story.

Atticus the dog is a total joy, even though he can get into some real trouble! If you are a dog lover, you will definitely get it! But while I loved Atticus too, I thought Hazel the star of this story.

If you are looking for a book that will leave you hopeful and your heart full, then Atticus might be the story for you. It ended up being such a feel good story and it restored my faith that there are really good people in this world.

Recommended.

Sawyer Bennett’s writing is amazing! She has the amazing skill to tell any story in a way that is so interesting you don’t want to put the book down. This is not her usual book with a love story between a man and woman with lots of sex. This is a love story about a dog named Atticus and a human named Hazel who rescued him when he was a puppy. In reality they rescued each other which also rescued a veterinarian named Oley and a homeless man named Bernard. If you love dogs, which I do, then you will love this book. I laughed, cried, and felt hope for others.

The beauty of the book is that we not only know what the humans are saying or doing, but we get to know what Atticus is thinking and feeling. Hazel has never felt good about herself, has always settled for less, and felt like she needed a man to make her happy. With the help of Atticus, Oley, and Bernard, she grows and learns to take care of herself, others, and aim for more in her life. It was interesting how Hazel, Bernard, and Oley had similarities with their families as well as differences and how it made the three closer and more like a family than their biological families. I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

OMG I freakin' LOVED LOVED LOVED this amazingly emotional, hysterically funny story SO MUCH, that I wanted to cry when I finished the very last word, because I wasn't ready for it to end. S. Bennett (and we all know who it really is) penned another brilliant story that was highly original, based on a real life dog who was completely awesome in his badness. But besides Atticus, what I LOVED next, was the coming to love yourself portion of Hazel's journey. See, she was at rock bottom on her friend's couch with $8 in her pocket when she found Atticus hurt in a ditch, and instead of leaving the puppy there (which she debated) she took him to a cranky vet, which started her on a crazy new journey which was the best decision of her life. And it wasn't a romance story, it was a journey of figuring out who she was, and her worth. It spanned over years, and I laughed hard, cried, got angry (not at her but at certain secondaries), experienced love & forgiveness of relationships that were broken, and just a colorful cast of secondaries. And I LOVED the POV of Atticus in between Hazel's chapters! What a heartwarming & amazing story of life with a crazy dog at the center to bring people together! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Atticus is certainly a journey and S. Bennett takes the reader on a journey along with Atticus and his owner, Hazel Roundtree. Hazel is a woman who is just cynical. She is a high school-dropout bartender who thought herself not worth anything until the day came when she came across a “puppy in a ditch”, one that has been beaten and starved and treated so horribly. That is the day things started to change for Hazel. See at first she was going to leave him because she could barely afford to care for herself let along a puppy but she didn’t, she took Atticus and she decided to save him and in the process, he saved her too because having Atticus depend on her forced Hazel to grow up along with him. In the story, we see how Atticus really changed Hazel and her way of thinking. He got her to laugh, to show emotions, to embrace life instead of running from it. This was a sweet, beautiful and emotion-packed story that is a story you will need tons of tissues for. I found it a different change of pace than what I am used to reading. I enjoyed the FEELS of this book and loved the dog , Atticus in this story. He is what made this book. I would recommend this as a great book to kick back and read.

My Rating: 4.4 stars *****

Atticus is a standalone novel by the fabulous S. Bennett (Sawyer Bennett). I have read all of Sawyer's books and I'm here to tell you, this woman can write anything! This isn't your standard romance, although there is a little of that. This is about the journey Hazel goes on. She's hit rock bottom. She's a mess and pretty much all alone. Until she sees a puppy who desperately needs help. Hazel can barely help herself, but she can't just walk away. Atticus, the amazing dog, opens up so many new doors and windows for Hazel. He teaches her how to love herself again. How to forgive and forget. How to love and trust and how to push herself and make her dreams come true. Everyone Hazel and Atticus meet becomes a special part of their family. It's a heartwarming, heartbreaking, fun, silly, sad, hopeful and inspiring story. I loved reading Atticus' point of view. He's the best dog ever! Overall, I laughed, cried, got mad, sighed, smiled and laughed some more. Hazel and her dog are characters that will stay with me for a long time!

I know that smell. It's of man and fun and kindness. It's a smell that made Hazel very happy once, and I must inspect this further.

For me this was a story about life, learning about who you are and what is important. What an amazing journey it took me on. My heart is full and mind is reeling as I digest the beauty of its telling. Life has kicked Hazel in the teeth and she is struggling but due to the inspirational event of saving an abandoned puppy, ATTICUS, she takes us on an expedition of self-discovery. She touches my heart as she learns to find, appreciate, and love herself. Even if you aren’t a dog person, you will be impressed by the power of ATTICUS. He truly becomes Hazels’s saving grace, not the other way around, helping her find her purpose. He brings amazing people into her life and helps her reconnect with her family. Plan to be well entertained by the dual POV of Hazel and ATTICUS which offers A LOT of hilarity. His mischievousness provides numerous laugh out loud moments (so funny). I loved, loved, loved this book. I am an emotional mess continuing to live in this story long after I turned the last page. Ugh I want everyone to feel what I just did. Words are hard to find in describing this profound experience. Definitely a recommended book. Happy Reading!

What a truly delightful, beautiful, heartwarming and touching story. Hazel, Oley, and Atticus together made their lives complete. Each was missing something the others filled. Atticus changed Hazel's life the day she rescued him. She was going nowhere in her life and Atticus somehow put her on the path of survival and love. She didn't know the first thing about raising a dog but somehow they figured it out. He even was able to bring Oley into their lives on that day. Atticus turned their world around for the better and became a part of them. This story started with so much loneliness and progressed to so much joy and love. So many special characters each added to the bond that was created with a fiesty dog.

This story was so heartwarming that I found myself sitting with my own dog while reading it petting her and looking at her and wondering if she was thinking things that Atticus did. I will never look at her the same way again. This is a story that will touch your heart and never let you forget the special bond a dog can have with their human.

Atticus is a different side of Sawyer Bennett’s writing and the books that I have read from her.

I absolutely freaking loved this book!!! Atticus is a MUST READ!

It is an emotional & yes “heart-warming and deliciously funny story” but, it also brings out the tears. The kind of big ugly tears! I kept steeling myself because I knew I was about to cry and cry hard. Thank god there is an HEA. But, even that brought on more tears. At least they were happy tears.

I thought this book was a pretty original story. After-all we got to hear Atticus POV as well as Hazel’s.

Hazel Roundtree was a lost soul. Her life needed changing and she needed to change directions. Finding Atticus in that ditch, made Hazel grow and learn to live with a purpose. Hazel may have saved Atticus but Atticus saved her too.

You will find romance but, that isn’t what this story was about. I felt it was about healing, growing from within and growing up.

5++++ Stars and I would give more if I could.

Wow!
Seriously…just WOW!
Beautiful.
Emotional.
Heartwarming.
Gratifying.
An absolute must read.

ATTICUS is a story about love, friendship and forgiveness, but is it a love story? I’d say yes, but not in the way you might be expecting. Told in the POV of Hazel and Atticus, it’s about the unconditional love that forms between a dog and his human. It’s about Hazel learning to love herself and that she is someone worthy of being loved. There is a sliver of romance towards the end, but romance is not the focus of this story, and the story is beyond amazing without it.

I want to say so much more about ATTICUS, but I’m really struggling with words because I feel as though no matter what I say, I just can’t do this book justice. So I will simply say this:

I could not put this book down.
I laughed.
I cried.
I was deeply moved.
This is the best book I have read this year, and I strongly recommend you read it.

I cannot say enough about Atticus, the latest release from Sawyer Bennett, writing as S. Bennett. I didn't know what to expect as this is a story about a lost woman and the dog she rescues. Sounds simple, right? Wrong.

Hazel is wandering through life, adrift after her husband kicks her out of their home and moves in his girlfriend. One day she stumbles upon a puppy who is badly injured. Hazel is barely able to take care of herself - let's be honest, she isn't really even able to take care of herself all that well - and knows there is no way she can take care of a puppy. But she finds she can't let the puppy go.

Hazel may have rescued Atticus from the ditch he was trapped in, but can Atticus save Hazel?

This is a wonderful, funny, sad, and incredibly sweet story of redemption, hope, life and learning to love others and yourself. I laughed. I bawled like a baby. I simply couldn't put this book down. This book really touched me and may be my favorite book of 2018. Ms. Bennett really delivers a fantastic story with Atticus.

AMAZING - I absolutely loved this book!

I wasn't really sure what I was going to get going into this book, I mean, it's about a dog. But boy oh boy, I was so wrong and so glad I decided to read this book. It just blew me away.

Atticus is really a story about Hazel and her journey and how she turned her life around. The journey in doing so brings us laughs, tears and hope and for me left me feeling wonderfully uplifted.

While this is a story about Hazel and her dog, that simplistic take just doesn't do it justice. The supporting characters all round are well thought out and developed and this character driven story really just gets under your skin.

I haven't been as touched or moved by book for quite a while so I urge everyone to give Atticus a go, you won't be disappointed.

I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.

A wonderful story about a puppy and his human friend’s.
The story is about a lost, hurt puppy, who needs someone to care and love him, but eventually will help change the lives of several people.

The story is told in dual POV, Atticus the pup who’s antic’s and thoughts were hilarious and his owner Hazel, and about family, living with life’s changes, love and how new friends can change your life.
It’s a heartwarming story but also has it’s emotional moments, which make this book an astonishing story which will be a favourite for future rereads.
I highly recommend this book!

I LOVED this book! Everything about it was on point and I connected with Hazel. It's a beautiful story of how a woman's life changed because of the unconditional love of her dog. This book hit me right in the heart and delivered on all the feels. This book has a make you feel good story. There are some moments in the book that had tears in my eyes. There is one thing that I could so relate to Hazel on when she was looking at dating that any guy she is with had to understand how important Atticus was to her. That's the way it is with me and my cats. A thing that I loved about this book is that it's told from Hazel and Atticus's points of view. I thought it was cute to get into Attucis's doggie head. The epilogue is bittersweet to me. It's beautiful because you see how far Hazel has come, but there is a underlying message as well that grabbed my heart. I can't recommend this book enough. It definitely needs to go into you TBR file for sure.

5 Heartwarming Stars

Atticus: A Woman's Journey with the World's Worst Behaved Dog by S. Bennett is going down as one of my top 10 books for 2018.

The storyline is beautifully written, emotional, sweet, heartfelt and it will bring out all the feels.
I can't express how much I loved watching Hazel and Atticus together. Their meeting sets off a change in Hazel, she never thought a dog would bring so much joy and love into her life.
Then add Oley the grumpy old vet who takes Hazel in, offers her a home and a life that she never thought she would ever have and a plot that will have you laughing one minute and sobbing the next. And you have the perfect read.

This book truly touched my heart, I connected with Hazel and Atticus and I couldn't get enough of them.

Thank you to author S. Bennett for writing this heartwarming and entertaining read and for sharing her Atticus with us <3

I think Sawyer Bennett is becoming one of the best authors for contemporary books, she has a way of showing characters as human as possible. Her characters although facing hard decisions are so delicate and human, they are three dimensional and you can sincerely feel their pain and join in living.

Atticus is an expression of a maturity in an author that really moved me in every word. Hazel's journey with Atticus is everything you want in a book, they are great characters and you will not put the book away.

Me and my family we had an Atticus in our life, his name was Hook and he is now in dog heaven. His 13 years on earth were a lesson of love and companionship for our family and taught us to love more and comprehend one another. This is a humble experience to be taught to love by our pets, but they are in life for one purpose just be loved and cared. I think Atticus is a book that can show us this.

WOW! Oh my goodness, just WOW! If there was any way to give this more than 5 stars I'm down for that. This is by far the best book this year!!!! Hazel is stumbling through life and not at all surviving when she hears a whine that turns out to be a puppy in a culvert. After rescuing that puppy she takes him to the local vet and waits for him to open the office. This sets off a whole spiral of wonder. Did Hazel rescue a puppy or did the puppy rescue her? Whatever the result was it changes the lives of everyone in their immediate and extended lives. This book made me laugh and it made me cry and it made me look at my dogs with eyes wide open and a nod (truth). The many characters surrounding Hazel and Atticus bring much joy to this story and add just the right amount of charm. This should be on everyone must read list for this year and every year in the future!

Atticus is a MUST READ.

I have THREE weaknesses when it comes to books. Animals in them are one of those three. Sawyer knocked this one out of the park!! It was my first book of hers and she took this story on a WHOLE other level. I mean, having one of the POVs from dog is pure GENIUS.

All of the characters were AMAZING. I could've read a book about everyone of them. Atticus was FILLED with so many different kinds of love and friendships that your heart will be threatening to BURST.

It's a PERFECT read for all of you dog lovers out there. There were MANY times I experienced the same situation with MY dog. I think non dog lovers should read this book as well. Then they can see for themselves why we love them so much. I bet it'll even convert a few of them to go out and adopt one for themselves. ?

Of COURSE I'm going to read this author again. Do you even have to ask? ?

As an avid romance reader this was a departure from my standard genre, but what a sweet ride!
This is such a beautiful story of the ability of love, when given unconditionally, to mend lives and restore faith in humanity!

In saving the life of a puppy, Hazel restructures her life immeasurably, and despite the desperation of her initial circumstances, the unruly pup draws out the best in all who encounter him and his charge in this heart warming story.

Atticus is not the model pooch by any means, but that just makes him all the more adorable, and as his size demands, he barges his way into everyones lives, enriching them with love, laughter, and gentle measure of heartache.

I urge everyone to read this story, whether you're an animal lover like myself or not, if only for the fact you need to be reminded of the reward of giving, this book is in itself a rare gift!

This is seriously one of the most beautiful books I’ve ever read and is definitely a top favorite of 2018. Sawyer Bennett has long been one of my favorite authors but this book is unlike anything of hers that I’ve read in the past.

Atticus comes into Hazel’s world and just changes her life. She learns to love herself and begins to thrive. Her relationships with Oley and Bernard are wonderful to see and watch them grow.

Atticus himself was obviously the star of the show. I loved the chapters from his point of view. He was so unrepentant in his mischief but he sure loved his humans.

There is so much about this book that is awesome and wonderful. I can’t say enough good things. It made me laugh, it made me cry (major cry headache going on), it just flat out made me FEEL.

I love it and you will to. I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Once again, stepping out of my norm with Sawyer Bennett has paid off with a HUGE reward! For me, it was unlike anything she’s written before (at least of all the books I’ve read).

Atticus will steal your heart. He’s so lovable! He's was just what Hazel needed at the right time in her life and I LOVED watching them grow together throughout the story.

I loved watching them go through both hard times and good ones. I loved the shenanigans Atticus got up to and some of the mischief he caused. I loved how all the humor and heartache in this story balanced it out and how utterly real it felt when I read it.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, I LOVED this book! A word to the wise though: grab tissues with this one because it's packed cover to cover with ALL the feels. It's an amazing, heartwarming tale that absolutely cannot be passed up.

Once again, Sawyer Bennett takes you on an incredibly amazing ride! Unfortunately, my review won't be able to do this book justice.

Hazel is a very much down on her luck woman. Her husband left her for his mistress. She's sleeping on a friend's couch and works as a bartender. Her car broke down and she can't afford the repairs. While she's walking to avoid her roommates boyfriend one morning, she comes across a very yucky dog. He's trapped in some wires and muddy, thin and cold. She carries the dog to the nearest vet and waits and her new adventure begins. This is one of those moments that can change your life forever. The roller coaster of emotions will leave you wrecked but no one can take you on a journey like this than Sawyer Bennett. Who else could write a story and include the point of view of Atticus, the dog?
You don't want to miss this one!

Oh my stars.... I think Sawyer Bennett must be one of the most diverse authors I’ve read in a long time.
With Atticus, she goes in yet another new direction and delivers a story that is packed with laughter and emotion.
Atticus is a truly joyful character - I loved every minute with him.
Hazel is a little harder to get to know, but Ms Bennet did a wonderful job of taking us on an incredible journey from someone one who’s had a hard life and feels less to someone who is the glue that holds her make shift family together.
Uplifting with an underlying message about self worth and hope, this is a must read for anyone who has ever struggled. There is also a wonderful message about finding what’s important and mending fences.
Books like Atticus are gems in the “to be read pile” - go in with an open mind and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

This was delightful to read. A fantastic story that was fun, heartwarming, heartbreaking, uplifting and full of love. I have been a huge fan of Sawyer Bennett for quite awhile but this sweet, story about a dog and their owner, swept me away.
Hazel Roundtree is floundering. A high school dropout who was down on her luck, unable to take care of herself. Until she found a hurt, cute, lovable, and trouble making, Bernese Mountain Puppy. This puppy changes her whole world, filling it with love, antics and bringing the right people into her life, All for the better. This story will fill your heart. I have been trying to write this review for several days now and I
just can’t seem to find the right words to describe this incredible
story of Hazel's journey to discover herself in the most unexpected
way and when she rescues a puppy to be named Atticus the journey gets
even more epic.
I knew this book was going to be different from what the author
typically writes, but she so did not disappoint. There is so much
packed into this book. You will be struggling right along with Hazel,
cheering her on, crying with her and falling in love with Atticus. I
loved how the author had many chapters told from Atticus’s point of
view. It just added to this beautifully written story. I am looking
forward to reading more from this author.

This book wasn't just about the big adorable fluffy dog on the cover it was about .. loneliness, hope, dreams and LOVE !! When you put all of those components together you get Hazel and Atticus all rolled into one big sappy story !!

When Hazel finally meets Atticus she needs him and he needs her just as much. Reading this book in both of there points of view will make you realize that sometime's a person doesn't need another human to love maybe that just need the attention and need from an animal.

I am not sure if it IS because I am an animal lover or that I have a puppy that means the world to me or is just of course Sawyers style of writing that ALWAYS grabs at your heart strings .. and this book will do it to you too !!

GET HIM NOW !! LOVED IT !!

I am recommending this book to anyone who will listen to me. I rarely write reviews, and providing a synopsis isn't my style.
At the beginning of this book, I didn't know that I would get through the whole thing; I disliked the main character that much. By the end of the book, I wish she could've been my bestie. "Atticus" made me laugh and cry.
I've read other (romance) books by this author. I couldn't believe I was reading something she crafted in "Atticus". (That's not a bad thing; just a very different style than I'm used to from her.) The pace was perfect. The writing was amazing. The characters and story were well-formed. The hangover from this book was one of my worst.

I used to think The Hard Truth About Sunshine was my favorite Sawyer Bennett book. Not anymore!!!! I absolutely adored this book!!!! I laughed SOOOO much through this book!!! The absolute adoration this author has, not just for her own Berner but for the breed and all dogs, is clearly apparent through every page of this book!

But this story wasn't just about the laughs! There was a lot of heartache, love, and personal growth on the part of Hazel, Atticus, and those around her. I cried my fair share of tears while reading it as well. And once again, Sawyer Bennett has proven that she is an extraordinary story-teller!!! This is a must read for all of her fans, as well as ANYONE who just wants a fantastic story with some really unique characters!!!

Atticus: A Woman's Journey with the World's Worst Behaved Dog written by Sawyer Bennett was outstanding. She was able to tell a heart-warming story through both the eyes of Hazel, the owner and Atticus, the naughty dog. I laughed, I cried and I felt every emotion imaginable as I read this incredible story.

Hazel was down on her luck. Life couldn't get much worse, but even so, when she finds an abandoned puppy, she takes him in. This dog has the biggest impact on her life that she'll ever have. It brings her new friends and support she never new existed.

This is a phenomenal read. I highly recommend it to all. It's the type of read that lingers with you for days and never leaves your heart.

When Sawyer Bennett said she was writing a story about Atticus, I was just so excited. Putting into words some of her real life experiences with her own Atticus, this story felt that much more believable!

Atticus and Hazel are the perfect definition of what it means to start new, discovering yourself, opening your eyes to the world around you, and meeting new people along the way. This story was told from Atticus (a dog) and Hazel's point of views, and it was perfect. You get the hilarious and fun Atticus view of life, and then the more serious Hazel side of things. Hazel has had a rough start, and she finds that Atticus is who she was really missing in her life. Their story is heartfelt, funny, loving and just so genuine!

This was an absolutely beautiful and heartwarming story about the incredible bond between Hazel & Atticus, and what their relationship does for so many other people. When she finds the little pup, it not only rescues him but he also rescues her. And then in turn they rescue Oley and Bernard and do so many wonderful things. Hazel’s life does a complete 180 from the point she decides to keep Atti until the end of the story. What a heck of a journey it is!!
I laughed so hard and then I cried so hard and simply couldn’t read fast enough! It is simply a wonderful book! I cant’t day enough good things about it! This is a must read for anyone who just loves a feel good story and loves dogs! Two paws up for Sawyer Bennett!!

What a beautiful journey of Hazel and Atticus. Following Hazel's story as she finds purpose (with Atticus) was heartwarming - and heart-wrenching at times. I loved the chapter's from Atticus' POV - "I regret nothing" had me laughing out loud - and his last chapter was a poignant reminder on how life goes on. Hazel's growth as an individual and as a friend/sister/daughter was a touching reminder that sometimes a second chance can lead to a major comeback. Ultimately, I wasn't sure what to expect with this book and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed every bit of their journey and felt like I laughed and cried along with them throughout the story. A fantastic read that I highly recommend!

It's a wonderful book, that takes you on
a journey of Atticus & Hazel's life,
over a span 4 years or so.
It's funny, emotional & heartwarming.
I found the beginning a little slow & a little tough to read, but it is an important part of the book. Once the story got going,
you can not get enough of it.
Hazel has pretty much hit rock bottom
in her life. Barely able to keep a roof over her head or food in her stomach.
Till one day when she came across
a muddy little bundle of love.
You will love their story, & all the other
characters in the book.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!

Definitely a different style for Bennett, more women's fiction than contemporary romance. Hazel has been through the wringer and lacks self respect until she rescues an adorable puppy. Her path to valuing her self and an improved lifestyle comes from mature friendships with a cranky veterinarian and a homeless veteran with PTSD. Chapters with Hazel's view are important and normal, Atticus's view is funny and almost too smart for a dog. The adventures of Atticus and Hazel are relatable to any dog owner and those of us with self worth issues, something for everyone. My review was written voluntarily after reading an early copy.

This is not your typical Sawyer Bennett romance for sure. But what is typical, is that this book is full of love. Loving yourself, loving your friends, your loved ones, and of course, your pets.

Haven't you ever wondered what your dog was thinking when he/she did something? Well we have Sawyer's version of what they are thinking here. So funny, yet innocent.

It is simply amazing how finding a puppy on the way for cigarettes and coffee could change Hazel's life and everyone else's around her. When one door closes, another opens.

Hug your pet and give them a belly rub, they deserve it.

What a heartwarming story.... Atticus the dog, his life and his journey... laughing and crying through out the story. I really enjoyed this book. It was a much needed change for me.

I have read a lot of Sawyer’s book and this one is special. It is a little different than the others and is in the same special place as “the hard truth about Sunshine”..... and emotional ride on his adventures, how he met Hazel... how there lives were changed from the moment she found him in the ditch.

A great summer beach read! LOVED it.....

What an absolutely amazing story. It’s been a while since I’ve read a story that was so touching and heartfelt.
Atticus is hilarious! The bits of story that are from his point of view make it seem like dogs can absolutely think like that. I found myself looking at my dog and wondering if she’s currently plotting nefarious things when my back is turned!
I look back at how Hazel’s story began and it seems like a completely different person’s story. It had its sad parts so now I need to read a comedy ?. 5 stars, for sure!

This book was nothing like I expected..

Hazel is down on her luck when she comes across a puppy trapped in barb wire. She frees him but realizes he is hurt.. She brings him to Dr. Peele who is not very kind but helps the pup and has Hazel work in the office to pay the expenses. This is the story of the unlikely friendship of an old ornery vet and a young woman down on her luck brought together by one crazy little pup named Atticus

A story of life!

Atticus is a laugh-out-loud, heartwarming story, you wont want to put down. Hazel has been really down on her luck until one night she finds a fine-fury-friend stuck in a ditch. Atticus changes her life by giving her unconditional love and the confidence she needs. Trust me, you will laugh one minute and cry the next. Sawyer Bennett is my go-to author because she is such a wonderful story teller. I highly recommend this story, you will fall in love with Hazel and her fur baby.

This is a beautifully written story. I don't think I've read a book where one of the perspectives was an animal but it really worked. I laughed, cringed, cried and felt a sense of peace and hope. The characters were real with their personalities and flaws. This book spoke of the events and people or animals that are placed on your road of life...of the bumps and detours that you take and the power they have to change your course if you let them.

Such a phenomenal story. I loved it from the first chapter. A story of a life in shambles and the courage to keep going with the love from a dog. My new book boyfriend is Atticus, is that weird? He is a dog after all. I loved being inside his head, knowing what he was thinking. A true love story between humans and their pets. Have tissue handy. Thanks Sawyer Bennett for a great book!

What a wonderful book about learning to love yourself. When Hazel finds Atticus she is down and out and feels like nothing will ever be good for her again. He gives her unconditional love and that inspires her to fight for what she wants and move her life in the right direction. This was such a good book, very uplifting and heartwarming.
