Zinnia is one of many brothers and sisters. She longs for something to be only hers. When Zinnia finally finds it, it soon leads her on a adventure she will never forget. In the book I often felt I couldn't put it down! The way Sharon Creech described the way people felt and added much detail made this book jump out at me. I loved every bit of this book! If you haven't read this book yet,you should read it without thinking twice!

Chasing Redbird was a great book. In it, Zinny, the quietest of six children, learns to put her sadness over her Aunt Jessie and cousin Rose’s deaths, behind her. Zinny decides to clear an old trail she had found in the forest, believing she must. During her journey not only does she discovers many stunning secrets, she also discovers herself. So join Zinny Taylor as she goes on a wonderful adventure in Chasing Redbird, by Sharon Creech.

Chasing Redbird was a fun exciting story for me. Sharon Creech did a superb job on this story. The way she described how Zinny felt through the whole novel was amazing. Zinny felt like nothing was her's anymore and felt put down when her sisters started saying she was immature because she collected oddball things. But things changed when she found the trail and knew it held all the secrets to Rose and Aunt Jessie's death's. Things get out of hand when a boy named Jake shows an interest in her. She doubts, due to past experiences, that he is merely trying to get to her May, her older sister, through her. In the end, she uncovers herself as she uncovers the trail.
If you are interested in reading a Sharon Creech novel, I suggest Chasing Redbird. Its a wonderful story about a girl trying to find herself. She realized that life, like a bowl of spaghetti, has many twists and turns. I've read three of Sharon Creech' s books and Chasing Redbird is the best one yet!

She was very brave...I recomend this book because it was a real page-turner. It makes you wanna read until you reach the flap cover. I found this a very relaxing, calm, book...hope you do too!!

Sharon Creech in Chasing Redbird captured perfectly a coming of age story of a thirteen year-old girl. Zinny Taylor, one of seven children always feels lost in the jumble of her family and wants peaceful solitude. Always asked by others which Taylor she is, she wants to become an individual and known as Zinny Taylor. Her chance comes when she comes upon a mysterious trail that begins near her family's house. She then decides that she will uncover the whole trail, 20 miles, alone so she can spend time away from all the chaos of her house and find herself. Not only does she find herself, but she uncovers secrets about her family including the death of her cousin, Rose, and her Aunt Jessie. Zinny also discovers love and that she is just as lovable as others. At the end Zinny discovers much about her life as she chases the Redbird.

This is a book review of Chasing Redbird, which is an interesting, funny, and realistic story by Sharon Creech! Zinny, the main character in the book is a 13-year-old girl who feels she's responsible for the deaths of her aunt and Cousin. Having a large family of many brothers and sisters, she is feeling lost without her Aunt Jessie. She discovers a trail in her back yard, and finds out from a museum that leads to the neighboring town. Meanwhile an old friend of the family has moved back to town along with her son, who is a few years older than Zinny. He starts bringing her presents, and Zinny, who is used to boys using her, doesn't think much of it. During summer break Zinny asks her parents if she can start camping on the trail so she can finish clearing it by the time school starts, and they actually let her. While up there she discovers someone very special, and gets help from someone unexpected, while accomplishing her dreams and her goals. The author uses great humor, and realistic events to capture your attention throughout the book. The most important character in this book is Zinny, or formally known as Zinnia. She is brave but sometimes lonely. Even though she has a handful of brothers and sister, they sometimes dis-clude her. During this story she deals with the death of her aunt and cousin, her uncle who misses his wife, finishing uncovering the trail, and achieving her goals, and reaching her dreams. My favorite character in this book is Zinny. She has a lot of stuff going on in her life and deals with all of the bad things. Always leaving time for the trail, she makes a goal to finish it by the end of summer vacation. Zinny is a courageous character throughout this book, she doesn't stop for anything until she reaches her dreams, and catches her goals. From this book I learned to follow your heart. If you don't know what path to take in a situation do what your heart feels is right. You might ask yourself what you are doing and why you're doing it, but in the end you know that the decision you chose was best for you. "Life is like a bowl of spaghetti once in a while you get a meatball." This is my favorite saying in the book because it explains exactly how life is. Sometimes, while your life is okay or on the downside, something great happens. While I read this story I felt happy when Zinny accomplished her goals, and discovered the trail. Sad, was what I felt during the times of death in her family. I found myself laughing at some things that her younger brothers say, and when her uncle would stomp on a hose thinking it was a snake. Overall this book made me feel good, and helped me overcome situations in my own life! All the characters in this story are realistic and can probably relate to one of your friends or somebody in your life. They all have interesting personalities and are great to read about. To make the book more personal the author used first person writing to not only share the main characters experiences in more detail but also to share thoughts and feelings only the main character would know about. Most of this story is interesting, and kept you on the edge of your seat at some parts. Some parts of the book aren't as thrilling as others though the plot and setting fit the moral or message. Whether you live an interesting and exciting life, or you think its normal and average, this book will show you how to take any life, add a goal and make something great happen.

The story "Chasing Redbird" is about a girl who goes through the troubles of life with her family. This girl, whose name is Zinny (short for Zinnia)Taylor, lives with her mom, dad, Aunt Jessie, Uncle Nate, sisters May, Gretchen, and Bonnie, and brothers Will, Ben, and Sam.

Overall the book was pretty good. The book is by Sharon Creech, the winnerof the Newberry Medal for "Walk Two Moons." It has some good and bad points. The worst point of all is the relationship between Zinny and Jake Boone. Jake Boone is an older guy and he has a crush on Zinny. He shows this by getting her a bunch of gifts. The reason I do not like this is because of the age difference and the way they met up. Jake is about 17 years old while Zinny is about 12 years old. It had been a really long time before the Taylors had seen Jake Boone. Zinny and Jake had seen each other one time and then- he starts giving her a buch of weird gifts.

I really did like the overall story. The title, "Chasing Redbird" refers to Zinny's aunt Jessie. Aunt Jessiehas bold red hair. Her uncle Nate her redbird. As you can see that is where we get the title from.

I thought this was a terrific book. My favorite part was when she was telling about how her sister May got all the boys. I think May sounded mean and jelous of something all the time. I also thought it was really cool who she was allowed to stay up in thr mountains all alone. It was great that Zinny finished the trail.

This book, Chasing Redbird, is one of the best books I have ever read. It's a definate page turner, and the author just keeps making you want to read on. The characters in this book are ones that are easy to relate to, which make this book that much better. Zinny, the main character, is one of nine children in her family, and her closest relatives are her Uncle Nate and Aunt Jessie. When Aunt Jessie dies, Uncle Nate is lost, and longs for the return of his wife. Zinnny escapes to the woods in her backyard, and finds a trail. While uncovering it, she is led to many places. While traveling along the trail, Zinny finds out the secret that has been hidden from her for so long.

One of my favorite books; a compelling story for any audience. Zinny is a young girl, who uncovers a trail leading from her hometown to the ajacent village over 20 miles away. While she weeds through the thick brush of this pathway, she stumbles into the painful thorns of her family's past. She discovers more than just evidence of a bittersweet story, but learns a sort of independence. Zinny is able to cope with the obvious jealousy she holds for her older sister, the little attention received from her parents, the death of her beloved Aunt Jessie, and the new feelings that she unearths from inside herself.

I don't like first person or simple sentences, so I went into this story expecting to hate it. There have been very few required books I've enjoyed; to my shock, this became one of them.

It is a slow-moving story, and little about it makes sense, but I found myself wanting to finish it to find out what happened.

This book is odd; I could not figure out what time period it's set in, and that got on my nerves. However, it is certainly not the worst book I've ever read.

Everyone who reads this book is sure to enjoy. Zinny is the main character she finds a trail and through the story remembers things and finds out something she'been wondering about for a long time. She is a quiet girl who doesn't get reconized until she finds a trail which makes her feel special. The clears the trail and people from all around come to seethe beautifull zinnias along the trail.

She always manages to mix in a little mystery and romance, her books are complex, yet simple with characters every girl can relate to. And this is no exception. I am completing it for the fourth time, along with the other books I own by her. It is magical. She has a way of taking you along with Zinny on her trail, clearing the pathway, hoping to find something, and the troubling and confusing presents from Jake Boone. You not only feel like a part of Zinny when you finish this book, but that you are just like her in so many many ways. Read this, and all of Sharon's other books. Believe me you'll be glad you did.

This is a great book. Honestly, for the first few chapters, it is very slow, and at times boring, but as you move on, the dull first chapters outlet some really exciting and intense ones. Chasing Redbird is about a brewing teen romance and a young girl's quest to find something that her heart won't let the world see. Two tragic events happen in Zinny's (the main character) life and it makes her even more determined to achieve her heart's desire. I think that this is a truly inspiring and heart- warming book that readers of all ages should pick up. If, not, they are truly missing out.

This book says that the people you think are crazy, may just not be you. It says that unpredictable things happen but you can have something you want if you try hard enough, and someone is always watching out for you, whether or not you know it. I'm only 11 but it is so simply written, I can understand the moral.

I love her characters, they're so realistic and have dry senses of humor, my kinda person. The romance factors in this book are pretty high, just that (as usual) the female is a dummy when it comes to the opposite gender. It was really twisted how Zinny's elder sister atracted all the boys in town, but she ended up with a surprising boy...don't want to ruin the ending, READ THIS BOOK!
