Published before the last presidential election, yet is just as up to date now as it was then. Trump is right on the mark. If you really care about America, give it a read and pay attention to this Patriot!

Like so many Americans today, we want to learn more about our Presidential candidates and I find reading their book is a good snapshot into what they think and who they are. He just may be the best equipped person to get our country back on track to our greatness again. I gave it 5 stars because I learned more about the man and what he thinks.

Donald Trump seriously floated the idea of running for president in 2012. In this book, he offers a scathingly accurate treatise describing what is (or was) wrong with the nation in '12, and how he believes he - or the right candidate - could fix the problems. Written four years ago, he is clearly making the case about Obama.

Trump discusses his views on other candidates, OPEC, equal time, taxes, healthcare, and more. Anyone who says Trump is a low information or protest candidate is merely flouting their ignorance: Trump lays his positions out with the flourish of a New Yorker in this piece.

Additionally, somehow the average read time for this book hovers in the 1-3 hours range. Clearly, people are buying this title, flipping to the end, and writing reviews based on their dislike of Trump. While I did not attempt to speed read the text, it took me roughly five hours to complete.

Informative and accurate. An easy and compelling read. Clearly, America needs this man. If he was to select Ben Carson, MD as his running mate, together they could return America back to the greatness it once was (before America ever heard of the Obamas and the Clintons), instead of being a laughing stock to the rest of the world that it now is.

Both Trump's supporters and non-supporters should read this book (non-supporters, if you dare....). Everyone can benefit.

Great book! Also read "Art of the Deal" years ago. BS free. Solid info from The Donald about who he is, how he thinks, who he knows, what needs to be done, and what he would do as President. Written prior to the 2012 election and updated for the 2016 Election.

Finally, somebody put together a summary of the things that are destroying our nation, and some thought provoking ideas on how to fix them. You may not agree with everything Trump says, but at least he is confronting the issues head on and suggesting ways to take them on, rather than just complain and offer no solutions.

First of all, this is a wonderful book that explains throughly why President Obama is failing the country, all backed up with sources and references to every claim. I found so many good numbers in here that I wrote them down, included with the source, and could use it against all the baseless claims from Democrats in my political science class. I think you'll especially love the book if you like and admire Mr. Trump. This book's absolutely worth buying for every non-partisan, independent, conservative, libertarian or any other type of American that would like to see a factual listing of how bad the Democratic Party has been to America the latest years. It also explains why China is growing on America's expense and how the OPEC-countries are exploiting the US. A must read.

This book presented in true Trump fashion, gives inside glimpse into the genius of how America ,under the right leadership could easily return to previous state of strength, wealth and status of being the best !! You are given a view of Trump that media & "old Washington " politicians have tried to discredit. Donald Trump, his plans and vision for America are honest sometimes blunt and not just political rhetoric. Make America Great Again Trump tells you his plans on immigration, foreign oil and goes into detail on how present administration is bankrupting America by making what he calls stupid business deals with China and others we trade with ..I absolutely loved Time To Get Tough ..Make America Great Again by Donald J.Trump

I’ve listened to Trump’s bellowing for decades (who hasn’t) and I have always separated his role as an entertainer/blowhard from that of the genius businessman (even though these roles seem to merge at times). While he has threatened to run for the Presidency before, his willingness to follow-through on that threat warranted me to take deeper look into his political philosophy. If anyone doubts that the man has any ideas on how to fix the problems facing this country, they need to read TIME TO GET TOUGH. With this book, Trump clearly addresses the problems he believes are plaguing the United States and pointedly details what needs to be done to fix them … in true Trump fashion, of course.

I am basing my review on the 2011 edition of this book. While the updated edition reflects Trump’s position as an official Presidential candidate, I found the original edition interesting in that his take on issues in 2011, as well as his solutions, are quite relevant today.

TIME TO GET TOUGH speaks to readers in the same manner as “The Apprentice” came across to viewers … a brutal mixture of bluster and bravado meticulously processed into sharp quips designed to insult, anger, motivate and above all, take notice. If anything, Trump is a master at using whatever tact is necessary for people to listen to him, like it or not. With this book, Trump vociferously expresses his disdain toward the leadership and policies of Obama leading up to the 2012 election. Now that the country has experienced a second Obama term, many of Trump’s opinions in 2011 appear quite visionary, especially his take on China, entitlements, immigration and the purpose/use of our military. I found Trump taking a practical approach to solving all the issues he presents. Sure, there is the trademark insult here and there, but I wasn’t turned-off by his blunt-speak. In fact, the one aspect of Trump’s Presidential candidacy that I find most refreshing is his refusal to not speak like a politician (lie) to appease certain groups. The frustration exhibited by Trump in TIME TO GET TOUGH is palpable and considering this frustration has festered four years after he wrote this book clearly explains why he finally decided to run: he feels the stagnant pool of career politicians (Republican and Democrat) aspire only to serve themselves and their political parties, not the American people.

Trump makes his points quite clear and uses a diverse array of sources to support his position. What I like about the book is that Trump supports many of his ideas with examples of his own successes which showcase his ability to saw through red tape and politics to produce quality results in short order and at a fraction of the cost (the ice skating rink project in New York City is a great example). The book is peppered with examples of such successes and it proves that Trump is a man who can put together an action plan and deliver. Regardless of how I’ve seen various media outlets or other Republican candidates challenge the authenticity of his political conservatism, TIME TO GET TOUGH reveals his affection for Ronald Reagan and his governing principals (arguably, Reagan’s policies were significant building blocks to Trumps mega-wealth). From a political standpoint, conservatives, libertarians and opinionated people in general will probably appreciate the author’s candid rhetoric and political posture. Liberals, career politicians (Republican and Democrat) and political elites will likely not care for Trump’s desire to reverse most of Obama’s defining achievements and his personal pot-shots at various people associated with these groups (Hillary Clinton, George Bush, Carl Rove, Barack Obama, etc.). In general, Trump doesn’t hold back when it comes to expressing his opinion (good or bad) of specific individuals … I actually found these little tidbits to be enjoyable breaks from the general monotony associated with politically-themed books. One thing that cannot be argued, Trump doesn’t hide his feelings about anything (he even provides a clear explanation of the bankruptcy issues that have plagued him over the years).

Regardless of one’s opinion of Donald Trump as an entertainer, businessman or possible President, TIME TO GET TOUGH exhibits the man’s willingness to identify and solve problems. I sometimes have to remind myself that aside from all the media and self-hype is a man who is serious-enough to be such a big success in high-stakes global business ventures. Reading this book reveals how serious and knowledgeable Trump is on economic, domestic and foreign policy. It also serves as a reasonable argument that maybe it’s time to give someone outside the political-class an opportunity to take the helm of the US … Trump certainly makes his case with TIME TO GET TOUGH.

"Time to get tough" was easy reading and shows that Donald Trump IS an intelligent individual and does have command of many facts and situations. But many of the solutions he offers are simplistic ones and we must always remember that complex problems are almost never solved with simplistic solutions. The big thing I worry about with Donald is whether or not he will be able to deal with powerful but opposing forces if he should become Potus. He will quickly find that he can not just command that things be done and done quickly,,, and this is what worries me. How will he react in the face of equal and opposing forces? If, as he says in his book, "Smart people learn things so they change their minds. Only stupid people never change their minds" the question I ask is whether he will be able to be one of these smart people and be necessarily flexible and willing to entertain other people's opinions and judgements?. Or will be go down in History as one of the most incompetent Presidents we have ever had. I sincerely wish and hope that he will be able to bring people and parties together so we we can work together to get our problems solved. So far he still refuses to try to really REALLY bring people together and to end the horrible divisiveness that has now gripped our country. This is what worries me.

I bought Time to get Tough because I remember Mr. Trump as a real estate mogul in NY in the '70's and '80's. He was famous back then and I have probably seen all of 2 episodes of The Apprentice. I remembered he ran for President before and I think it is likely fair to say there is absolutely nothing in it for him to be President, but to try to right the ship and leave his beautiful family with a USA that is in better fiscal condition. This book represented a prescription to fix our problems from border control to addressing the viability of social security to fixing the fiscal condition and creating jobs by bringing industry back to the USA. Please read this book to learn Mr. Trump's prescription for America. It is a compelling read.

Trump gives real solutions to America's problems, he mentions that China and OPEC are taking advantage of our country and gives us suggestions as to how we can fix these problems and make American great again. I think everyone should read this book and hear constructive criticism.

Trump is like a breath of fresh air blowing through the political landscape. Things are so screwed up - maybe he is indeed the answer. I thought his book was actually better than his stump speeches have proved so far.

Donald Trump offers new ways to fix America's problems. While many people may see these problems as ways that might destroy us, they can actually work and fix the country. We need to start somewhere to handle these problems and Trump offers great ways to.

I enjoyed getting to know more about Mr. Trump and his ideas and dreams for returning the United States back to the people. It is as relevant today as it was when he wrote it. Our country is in trouble and he tells it like it is and his ideas for getting us back on firm ground.

This book should be required reading in every college and home. This book is about successful thinking and honest analysis of conservative and liberal thinking. It also highlights how current political thinking and practices are failing our national economic survival. A very good read.

Two readers of this book in our household. We both agree with Donald Trump about America being 'ripped-off'. We both liked the book because it is so easy to read. Donald Trump 'resonates' with Americans of all walks of life. Donald Trump is refreshingly honest. Donald Trump has a simplicity that speaks truth and doesn't write to 'impress you with himself' (surprisingly) but writes simple truth. His love for America shines through. The book is good, but the book is also 'common knowledge' amongst 'those who know'.

I bought this right before the Trump mania took off.. Trump gets "IT"...He spells it out in an easy to read book.. He understands what is happening to the country and understand we are on the downward slope to Greece.. For the price everyone should buy it and read it...

I bought this book in August 2015 after the debate to see what his policies are. Solid common sense. Trumps plan takes care of America first, which is the best job description of the presidency.
All of the bloat in our government is in the executive branch, who better than the Donald to make it efficient again.

It's an excellent policy book with detailed reasoning and even to the point of legislation needed to move forward.

Any questions on Trump's ideas; theories; thoughts and reasoning, this is the book to answer your questions.

Wasn't anything that I expected. It provided a view of what I would coin Trumponomics. His reasons for change and enabling people with the ability to work which provides them with pride, purpose and accomplishment. He has simple solutions to complex problems. That's what our politicians today are missing - common sense!

If you are a bleeding heart liberal, you will hate this book. For people who believe you work for what you want and you do not want the government to take care of you, this is a book for you
I know Trump gets a lot of bad press, but he really knows what's wrong with the US. When he talks about our persective on poverty, you can tell he gets it. It is too bad we cannot find leaders who are not afraid to make the tough decisions to get us back on track.

Easy read. It gives you some insight as to where Trump was before the last election. His views presented in the book are along conservative lines and it reads just like Mr. Trump sounds on the campaign trail these days.

This book made me think about national defense in a totally new way. Why do we defend the world for FREE? Why don't we charge for defending rich countries like: Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Japan, So Korea, ect. There would not be a Kuwait without America? What we get in return are high oil prices. Every time the price a gasoline goes up Congress drags in oil executive charging them with price fixing. The real price fixers are the OPEC nations. If domestic oil executives did what OPEC does Congress would through away the keys to the jail. Trump has a real view of how America is disadvantaged by our leaders.

I have respect for Donald Trump as a businessman. I have issues with him in other areas, such as pressing for Eminent Domain being used to benefit business....a very un-American and un-Constitutional thing (the Supremes screwed up on that one), thing to do...

But like him, hate him, or somewhere in between, this is a fantastic book.

Mr. Trump points out that one of the biggest problems with America today is that we are not tough enough. He is right. We have raised a generation of wimps.

Some great points on:
>How to do with China
>If we have to defend other countries...why and how it should not cost the US.
>Welfare
>Illegal immigration
>Jobs

>and so much more.
