Coert and Cady have a history spans decades. It's heartbreaking what they both have lived through just because they were not mature or wise enough, at the time, to understand what they let slip away. Cast has a compassionate soul and it's brought her both extraordinary pain and happiness. Coert believes in what's right which is good since he's in law enforcement. The secondary characters are entertaining and very likeable. There is suspense.

I went through a KA book slump during the Honey series, but I am overjoyed to say that The Time in Between is classica KA! I have read other reviews that talk about how some aspects of the book are similar to plot twists in some of her other series, but I did not care! This story held it's on and I loved Cady & Coert! I'm a sucker for second chance romances and this was perfection. The time in between was what each character needed to lead them down their destined path.
Classic Kristen Ashley never disappoints and it's always a magical reading experience!

I was so excited that Kristen Ashley wrote this 3rd and final book in the Magdalene series. Absolutely Loved it. Cady and Coert were such amazing characters with such a complicated past to overcome. Their journey was truly captivating. All of the secondary characters just fit perfectly with the story and added a depth that took the book to perfection. Will always remember them when I see a lighthouse.

Boy, this was long and boring. Found myself skimming huge parts. Skipped the repetitive sex scenes. I usually like KA's books very much. Nothing happened, no suspense, just two absolutely flawless people, being flawless. Everything coming up roses or rather tulips for these two models of perfection. Not buying any more of her books before the reviews come in.

I thought The Will and Soaring was good......but this one, I absolutely loved it!! I tried to read this slow to make it last but just couldn't, Coert and Cady both stole my heart! And I was excited to see old friends as well! And Stone finally got what he had coming to him!! If you enjoy small town stories then by all means get these three books, I highly recommend them!!!!

Kristen Ashley is my go to author and I always one click anything and everything she publishes. This is a wonderful, heartfelt second chance love story. I use to watch Friend episodes when I was having a bad day. They always make me laugh. Now I just do a re-read of ANYTHING Kristen Ashley puts out because it always makes me happy..

I have not read a KA book that I did not enjoy . I loved them all, some more than others , but loved every one. The a Time In Between has to be one of the sweetest books ever . I could not put it down , I had to know what happened in the next paragraph or on the next page . As with most all her books , finishing it has made me want more ! Enjoy !

I don't feel like this was a repeat of any other KA books at all. I was emotionally spell bound for pages at a time. In tears spell bound and I don't say that often. As an avid reader and huge fan of KA I was not disappointed in a single word. Thank you once again KA for sharing your special brand of beauty. Rock on!!

I'm sad to see this series end but I really enjoyed reading Covert and Cady's story. These two have a his Tory like you wouldn't believe but somehow the love between them is still there. I loved catching up with all the other familiar characters in the series. I'm glad I read this series and I hope others will too.

Sweet second chance novel of how 1 mistake can tear you apart but can you ever move forward from "the one".
Cady and Coert were a lovely love story. I enjoyed how it all played out, how the Moreland clan took her in and how they helped her find her happy ever after.
Another great love story!

The most beautiful heroine I've ever read. A really wonderful, kind and thoughtful character finds her second time around hea. What a fantastic story.
I want to read it again and again just because it made me feel so good. Richly woven, delightfully told and just so darn good.

Really good ending to a series. It was long and drawn out at times, but it felt complete. You can't write a second chance story spanning 18 years, and not have it be tedious at times. Thank you Kristen, for returning to your wonderful way of story telling. Missed you there for awhile.

What a journey the Magdalene series inspired. Coert's story had to be so special because he was special throughout the series. His story didn't disappoint- it was fabulous. Sad to see this series end but with all the rich characters it will always be one of my all time favorites.

I don't really know how to express my love for this author, and this book is one of her best. The MC in this book is so complicated and broken, I cried for her (a lot). And then she put herself back together again, with help from her leading man, and I cried some more. Lovely.

This was an enjoyable way to end the Magdalene series. It wasn't my favorite (totally Jake and Josie for me) but I liked the book. Yes, there were definitely times when I felt like I was re-reading some of KA's other stories, but since I liked them, too, this wasn't a problem for me.

Love reading everything this author writes. Everything. If you have read a KA book then you are going to read this. If you haven't read a KA book, then I highly recommend starting. You won't regret it. In fact... be prepared to want all her books, she's that good!

Last book of the Magdalene Series and it was not disappointing, but then this is a Kristen Ashley book we're talking about. Great story, great characters. Loved the Epilogue. As usual Ms. KA leaves us with an awesome Epilogue.

Couldn't put this book down. I'm glad Coert and Cady got their HEA . There was a lot of misunderstandings and also hot smoking sexy love.Enjoyed the whole family that had Cady's back. Can't wait for the next book by Ms Ashley!

I pretty much read whatever this author puts out. But I skimmed through half of this because it was just not that great of a story. SPOILER
The flashbacks would have been better as a prologue or the beginning of the story. She sort of skims over the initial betrayal. Coert and Cady figure it all out early and the rest of the story feels like stuff that is trying to extend the book. Not only that, but Cady is kind of a wimp and forgives Coert being a big jerk a little to easily. Not her best work.

"I love you most."
The Time in Between is a second chance romance. It's part of the Magdalene series but it can be read as a standalone.
Cady Moreland fell in love with Coert Yeager eighteen years ago. They met when Cady was hanging out with her friends who lately have made Cady uncomfortable. She started to believe her friends were falling into bad habits and maybe even illegal dealings. Cady wants to keep her distance before they take her down with them. Just when she decides to do this, Coert enters her life. From her point of view, he might be running with the wrong people too but then, he asks her to believe in him and trust him. Cady agrees to do this and falls in love with him. Then, she discovers, he was using her and lying to her while they were together. Isolated from friends and family, she decides to marry another man.
“Stick with me. Believe in me, Cady. Even if you don’t know what I’m asking. I’m still gonna ask it. Don’t give up no matter what.”
In the present, Cady is a widow and she moves to Magdalene to get closer to the two men who are important to her: Coert and her brother, whom she loves but has never been there for her.
Coert is the town sheriff and he's well respected and liked by the people of Magdalene. He's a single father who loves his daughter.
When he discovers Cady is the new owner of the beloved hometown lighthouse, his anger has no bounds. Cady is the woman who didn't trust him, who married another man and left him brokenhearted. He can't forgive her. Yet, he finds himself coming up with excuses to check in on her.
I love Kristen Ashley's books. I have so many favorites, Rock Chick, Colorado Mountain, Dream Man and the Chaos series (yes, not a just one book. I'm talking about THE FULL SERIES). It's always a treat to read one of her books. She makes me laugh and she makes me cry.
Cady's family and friends were all sweet. She had people supporting her and they cared for her enough to intervene at the right time.
Coert was adorable with his daughter. It melted my heart. He was so mean to Cady at the beginning but he couldn't keep up the pretense. He loved her and his love for her was stronger than his hurt feelings from years ago.
The one complaint I have (which I can't believe I have) is that this book was too long. I thought to myself: I get it, Coert is a great dad and he really loved Cady, no need for more sweetness.
One last thing, if you are a Rock Chick fan, you are going to love the small cameo some of the characters have. I know I did.

First things first.... this review, will contain some spoilers. You can thumbs down it or write all the comments you want on it if you want.... but that there was your warning ....
Now, I'm so in love with series... the characters are a little bit older and all have been through what they thought was going to be their lives, having marriages and children before they find the people they're meant to be with... that's reality, way more relatable than teenagers finding it and keeping it their whole lives. I love that about this series....
In this one we have Coert and Cady. How cute is that?! Cady has a tough life... Terrible parents that she gives chance after chance to be good to her and they just keep disappointing her. They don't get her, they don't care about her and that brother of hers is the worst. I hated that he popped back up and I didn't find myself ever able to get over how terribly he treated Cady her whole life, let alone all the times she tried.... He didn't deserve her forgiveness, yet when you read about Cady, she's all about forgiveness. She was sweet like that. A person who always saw the silver-lining, no matter how dirty they'd done her or how bad a situation was.... Anyway, she and Coert met under unusal circumstances and things happened in a way that when they lost touch, it left them both shattered, but it was too late because they knew each other was "the one"
Fortunately, Cady found herself tied to an adopted family. Ones who took her back when she needed someone to.... or at least, one did and the rest followed, even if it was a rocky road getting there. Still, I loved all of her inherited brothers and sisters and I love how much they loved her. How much their kids needed her and gave her that unconditional love that her own family should've all along. But, when she lost the person who'd saved her, she went back to Magdalene because it really seemed like fate pulled her there.
That's where Coert comes in... Wow, did I really not like him in the beginning. He was hateful and hurt and blamed Cady for things that in my opinion, were all his fault. Although i couldn't blame him, I probably would've too. I really felt for both of them because I can't imagine how hard it would be for both of them to be run into each other and not feel the loss all over again.
So, it was a rough go for a good little bit....
Another thing I hated was Boston Stone and Terry Baginski... I really would've liked each other them to end up in prison by now... They both showed their ugly colors again and even though we got a smidge of karmic justice, I'd have liked to have seen much much worse for both of them. For all the times they were smug and arrogant and condescending and scheming and conivving, I just wish they were put in their place with a big middle finger in their faces from everyone they'd wronged. But... at least we got something.
I also loved seeing Verity and Elijah's fall into something amazing. I was rooting for them the whole time!! Bonus love story in this one, like Reece and Finn in The Burg series.
Speaking of another series, I also loved Indy and Lee and some of the other Rock Chicks and Hot Bunch. I miss them all!
Also loved checking in with Alyssa, Junior, Amy and Mick and Josie and Jake and all their kids... crazy how one gets invested in fictional characters, and even their animals, cuz holy crap, did Midnight break my heart when it stormed and I fell so much harder in love with Coert!!
These feel so worth it!
And of course, like all things KAT... alls well that ends well and we get a happily ever after and then some. I really hope this isn't the end of this series, but I fear that it is. I didn't see any open stories that could be picked up for a next one and that makes me sad, because I'll miss them all!
(Not that i WONT go back and rereda them all a million times, but still) There's nothing like experiencing a Kristen Ashley literary adventure for the first time. Hot guys, cute kids and crazy chicks. How can you not fall in love with all of them?
So, of course, I'll give this one 5, well deserved stars because I laughed and cried and then cried some more....and loved every second of it!
If you haven't yet....read them all!

I am obviously in the minority, but I cannot get past the terrible grammar and ENDLESS run on sentences in this author's books. This book is so overrun with them that I kept having to re-read passages to make sure I understood what she was trying to convey.
I get what she is trying to do by writing exactly the way a character is speaking to themselves in their own head, but it does not translate well to the page. Instead, it comes out as a hot mess of endless word jumbles and incomplete thoughts that make for an excruciatingly long read. It's a "quantity over quality" type of writing that is in dire need of a good editor.
I am sure Kristen Ashley is a lovely person, and I am happy for her that she has such a loyal following. This is my third attempt at reading her books but no more. I wish her much continued success but her writing style clearly isn't for me.

I will say this was the best book in this series. So many great visits from characters in KA land that we know and love. Kristen really brought it home with this one. It was back to her winning formula of strong heroines and determined heroes.
Cady Moreland and Court Yeager were a winning combination of my favorite trope: second chance romance at it's best. Yes, there's a long separation, but you really need to read this one to surround yourself in both their past and their present.
This story was steeped deep in an emotional journey of love loss and forgiveness. The path to finding each other again was one filled with some unhappy moments but the rewards of second chance romance are simply beautiful.
I was submersed in this story from the first page to the wonderfulness that are KA's epilogues. I live for her epilogues. They are true gold.
If you are a fan of Kristen Ashley's words this book is for you. If you are looking for a story rich in detail and sweet reunions of past and present. This book is for you.
So happy to see another winner in the beautiful mind of one of my favorite authors. Thank you for a great series based on heroes and heroines that are in second set of chapters in their lives. Folks that are in their 30's and 40's. Experienced and seasoned people who have seen the ups and downs of life.
Happy Reading~ Sherry

As a huge Kristen Ashley fan it pains me to say that this story was long, and boring as hell. It started off promising but by 30% in I started skimming. The angst, romance, and plot were all weak. I couldn't connect with the main characters and didn't feel the connection in their relationship. It almost felt like someone else trying to copy her writing but not getting it quite right. I can't believe this is the same writer who have us all those wonderful books.

She's back and better than ever! I loved it. This felt like a Kristen Ashley book. A bit too much background info from the other books in this series. However, it's understandable for those who needed a refresher on who's who from the previous books.

I eagerly awaited this book, only to be disappointed. The plot is thin with pages and pages of filler. Even the sex scenes seem to be repetitious. The h is so very sweet, so filled with compassion, forgiveness and empathy that the sweetness made my teeth hurt. Where was the spice? The same problem with her "adopted family". This book should have been about 200 pages with characters who have flaws.

Kristen Ashley has done it again! I pretty much always love her books, but some stand out more than others, and this is one of them. A stunningly beautiful, emotional second-chance-romance, this is everything that I love about KA - incredible characters and a heart-clenching, swoony, sexy and functional romance that has all the feels! This is the third and final book in the Magdalene series, but it can easily standalone. I loved every moment of it.
Cady Moreland has just moved from Denver to the small coastal town of Magdalene, Maine. She has bought the local lighthouse and is planning an epic renovation to return it to its former glory and turn it into a cosy home for herself, looking for a fresh start after experiencing a tragic loss. And she’s making that fresh start to be closer to two estranged men in her life – her older brother, and more importantly, the love of her life, Coert Yeager.
Coert is the Sheriff in Magdalene, and we’ve seen him briefly in the previous books in the series. In the last book we watched him have a heated altercation with a woman on the street, and it turns out that woman is Cady, so I knew this was going to be a fiery reunion and holy hell was it ever!
18 years ago, Cady and Coert had an epic love. It was intense, all-consuming, and both of them knew it was forever, but their unique situation saw the future they so desperately wanted ripped away from them, and neither of them have recovered from the loss. They have both tried to move on, and Coert even has a five year old daughter, but it’s always been about each other, and Coert’s immediate reaction to Cady’s presence is anger and hurt at the way it all fell to pieces so many years ago. He doesn’t want her in his town, and he wants nothing to do with her, and it makes the first part of this book absolutely gut-wrenching, with scenes that had me holding my breath more than once.
Cady is understanding, empathetic and quietly dignified about the whole thing, and Coert finds himself drawn again and again to the woman who shattered him but who has always owned his heart. It’s a confusing time for them both and incredibly emotional as they get used to being in each other’s presence, and all of those feelings from so long ago – that have always simmered just under the surface – are finally given the opportunity to consume them once again.
And that reunion! Holy hell, that scene is utter perfection! It’s hot, it’s intense, it’s emotional and the feels are off the freaking chart! The honesty between Cady and Coert is one of my favourite things about them and once they start to lay it all out, they hold nothing back from each other. They talk and they share, and they don’t hide how they’re feeling or what they want. They are all in, “running to catch up” and finally claim the life together that they always wanted.
And here comes the epic romance! OMG, Coert is one swoony alpha, and the romance is sweet, passionate, intense and super-emotional, and had me in a puddle of goo on the floor more than once. You can feel the love between these two, and seeing them together and creating their HEA was absolutely gorgeous.
It’s an emotional ride as they find their way forward, and there are some pretty significant steps they need to take along the way, and we get to see every sweet, funny, sexy and dramatic moment as they work through it all. And that is the beauty of a KA romance – that we get to see all of that detail and become a part of the characters’ lives, and it’s just beautiful.
Cady is a wonderful heroine. She’s incredibly strong and brave, sweet and forgiving with a caring nature, and though she could have easily as come across as being a doormat, she absolutely doesn’t, and I loved her big heart. And of course Coert is awesome. He’s a protective and possessive alpha without being OTT, and he is madly in love with his girl and wants everybody to know it. I just loved him.
Jake & Josie, Mickey & Amelia (and Junior & Alyssa) are along for the ride as Jake’s best mates, and of course the girls adopt Cady into their posse, and it was great to see them. But the best side characters were little Janie, and Cady’s extended family. They are a big, and important, part of the story and I absolutely loved them! I love their protectiveness and the love they have for Cady, and some of those scenes with them all together had my laughing out loud. I thought they brought a lot to the story, and they were a wonderful inclusion (and that mini-romance storyline was a real treat). KA fans will also love the Chaos series tie-in, and the Rock Chick cameos which were pretty epic, I’ve gotta say.
It all combines to give us a gorgeous read that is super long, but that I was happy to lose myself in as Cady and Coert reconnect and get the happy ending that they so desperately deserve together – and yes, there’s an epilogue, and yes, it’s awesome!
I loved this book. Super romantic, emotional, sweet, fun, dramatic and so, so functional. It’s pure KA, and it’s just beautiful.

The Time In Between is a perfect ending to one of my all time favorite series The Magdalene Series. This is book three of the series and if you are a fan of romance, not only this book, but the entire series should be added to your collection. The Time In Between is Coert and Cady's story. It is a beautiful second chance romance that will give you all the feels. I always have a book hangover after reading a Kristen Ashley book because not only does she make me feel, but her imagery and descriptions makes me a part of the story and I feel I am experiencing it all as the hero and heroine do. This is a long book and like with her other books, it never lags and I never want it to end. If you are new to the series I do recommend that you read this series in order if you can because you will just appreciate it so much more knowing some of the other characters and situations that happen as they appear in the book. Having said that if you have not read the other two books in the series technically you can read this as a standalone. I do not want to give anything away so I will just say do not hesitate, One-click and buckle in to enjoy the journey of reading The Time In Between.

I liked it but I didn't love it. Definitely my least favorite of this series. I loved Coert and Cady but everything was just too perfect. ESPECIALLY the whole baby mama thing. Seriously, baby mama did all that and then overnight because Cady loves Coert everything is forgiven and all of a sudden baby mama is a perfect mom and person and now we can all be best friends? I love KA, I love romance and I love fantasy but that's a stretch for anyone. I didn't like that theme in her last book, either. Mickey's ex was a raging drunk and then overnight she wasn't anymore and everyone is best friends. C'mon KA, you can do better. Again, I liked it. Didn't love it.

Enjoyable. Kristen Ashley is a must buy, must read author.
This stand-alone has no graphic violence or drag-you-down drama.
The storyline bounces between past and present which is clearly indicated at the beginning of each chapter.
Emotions run high at times but all is well.
Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking, entertaining and humorous dialogue.
I will re-read this story and always look forward to works by this author.

I'm sad this book will be the end of the Magdelene series, but it's a beautiful ending. I knew Coert and Cady's story had to be heartbreaking to keep them apart for so long. Mixed in with the sadness she gave me moments of happy. It was nice to catch up with other couples, including unexpected familiar faces (remember Coert was a detective in Denver). I love the closure of a Kristen Ashley epilogue and this one doesn't disappoint! I highly recommend this book.

I was really looking forward to this book but it was a let down. Maybe I need to take a break with this author since they are all starting to morph into the same characters. The H (who was GREAT in The Will) was a completely different character in The Time in Between. Very one dimensional. The h was a wimp and just let everyone walk all over her.
I would not let my family talk to / treat me like hers did - I am not sure a lot of other people would either.
I have read and re-read the majority of K. Ashley's books but this one was once and done. Like other reviewers, I ended up skimming the last half just to get to the conclusion.

Another smashing masterpiece by Kristen Ashley that sucks you in and doesn't let you go! Amazing writing, fantastic characters... absolutely loved the scene with Denver Rock Chick gang... I'm sorry to be finished with Magdalene but I know I will keep going back and re-reading the books as that is simply what one does when it comes to Kristen Ashley and her books!!!

Not really my favorite of her books but an enjoyable read. I liked Ms. Ashley's use of the story line showing some of the problems people who reconnect go through to be interesting. Most of the time the love story ends once the mutual love is acknowledged as if that makes all problems go away. It was good to see old friends again too.

The Time In Between by Kristen Ashley is One of the Best Books of 2017. Ms Ashley NEVER disappoints in any books she writes. Fully fleshed out characters, tough, painful times for her characters, and love and family. If you haven't read Kristen Ashley, give her a Read!

KA books are fun, plain and simple. She writes lively characters that can make up for plot holes or general goofy absurdity. Regarding the Magdalene Series, I LOVED The Will - Josie was one of my favorite females of hers ever and I love the Maine setting. (Even though I live in Denver) But The Time In Between was a snooze fest on all levels. Cady didn't have much personality at all; she was a total dud to me. Her character was so poorly defined that I can barely describe her more than this: doormat, she whispers a lot, she's fragile, people love her, she bakes pies. It makes me miss KA's women who came out big and bold on paper: Indy, Ally, Sadie, Ava, Josie, Laurie, Violet etc. Coert was fine, but not terribly interesting either. But worse, when I got half way through the book, I realized there just wasn't much conflict or tension in the story because it had been resolved already, and that can make for a very dull book. KA's dialogue took a nose-dive as well, and I kept waiting for something to perk up the story, but it didn't happen. I'll keep reading her books, but I have noticed that her most recent books bothered me for the same reason in that they just don't have enough conflict and tension. I don't need every female character kidnapped, hit, shot, raped or buried alive to like her books, but I've missed the action, humor and smoldering build-up that has defined so many of her stories. I hope her next few are more lively because that's what made me an addict.

I'm not really sure whats happened to the Kristen Ashley I know and love.. but I want her back!!!! If this is the new direction she's decided to take then I don't think I'll be reading much more of her. I'll stick to my Vintage KA books and just reread them, I suppose. This one definitely was not for me.

I think this is the worst of Kristen Ashley's books. It dragged on and on and on and I found myself skimming just to get through. Not enough depth, not enough detail of the "time in between", it seems to me that this was a rush job to finish the series. There was no excitement, dragged out predictable love scenes. I like the characters ok, but their potential isn't realized. I have all of this authors books, love most of them, read them over many times but not this one . Had to make myself finish the book hoping it would get better, but just didn't do it for me.

Taken from my audible review:
I agree with one reviewer about the book not being near as good as the other two in the series. It is this pattern lately for Kristen Ashley. IMO she has not written a really good book for many years. Makes me wonder if someone is writing some of them for her. Her books in the Colorado Mountain series and the Burg series were great and even some in the Unfinished Hero series and I even really liked the first two audiobooks in this series. But other than that, I have not really enjoyed any of her other books lately, especially the more recent ones, including this one.
Kristen's books have gotten less angsty and thus more boring imo. The angst described will be more about angst they had in the past. And I agree with a comment I saw in a review where someone said that this certain "a criminal getting out of jail" storyline (won't give it away even more) was just tied up too quickly and too simply and thus really meant nothing to the storyline imo. That was a missed opportunity for some more angst. And they even got along with his ex. That is a missed opportunity. Her book Bounty was like this - too long for the weak storyline, not enough current angst, and thus was wrapped up too easily, and that made it seem too long and boring. It just seems like maybe Kristen has gotten lazy in her writing lately.
I agree with the other reviewer in that the heroine was just too whiney and weak - very weak. She really didn't have a strong intelligent bone in her body. And again I agree it was just so boring and drawn out. With how little story line there was, Kristen should have kept it to an 8 hr audiobook. I also agree with there being just too many new characters. It was hard to keep up with them or even care who they were. I too could hardly wait for it to be over.
One thing I do disagree with compared to one review is the complaint over the narrator change. I did not like the narration by Hollis McCarthy in the first two books in this series at all. I think she is the one that was too breathy - almost like she was doing porn, especially during the sex scenes. I can't describe it very well but when she would narrate the sex scenes, I would cringe about how she narrated those. To this day, I do love going back to the first two books in this series but do have trouble getting trough them because I dislike the narration by Hollis as described above. I was so excited to see a change in narration. Having said that, I did not love Erin Mallon in this. The character is like 41 and I did think she sounded more like 21. And some other issues also. I agree Erin was not great great in it but I at least did like that there was a change. I wonder why Kristen never has (or pays for) the dual pov in her books. Now, that is something I do not like. Honestly, had it not been Kristen Ashley, I probably would have skipped another author's books for not having dual pov narration.
Overall this is another of Kristen's I will not listen too again. I feel the same way about: Bounty, Complicated, Play It Safe, either book in the Honey Series, and probably not Heaven and Hell (although Heaven and Hell was somewhat better than any of these others I have listed)
I probably should have given this only 1 star but it is just hard for me to give Kristen 1-star reviews lol.

❝He grinned. I fell into it like it was the desired destination it absolutely was.❞
A beautiful story, stunning characters, and a second-chance romance that will make you swoon, 'The Time in Between' is KA at her finest and one of my favorite books she's written!
Cady Moreland is the black sheep of the family. Whether it is emotional or material, they refuse to provide her with any support, they have shunned her. But Cady is a strong character, who, rather than feeling sorry for herself, works hard to make ends meet. Her best friend Maria, and Maria's boyfriend, Lonnie, are her family. They are loyal, they don't judge, they let each other be who they are and they have fun together.
At a party, Cady eyes the handsome Coert Yeager as he walks in. When she finds that Lonnie is friends with him, she takes that as a sign that he is a good guy. They share a mutual attraction. What starts out as friendship quickly turns into a whirlwind romance based on lies and deception. When the truth came out, the relationship was broken, but the bond remained.
❝And I was going to do all of this because I was going to be someone I liked, someone worthwhile.❞
18-years later, Cady is trying to recover from the loss of her husband, she moves to Magdalene hoping to reclaim her life. Cady buys a historic lighthouse and the property surrounding it and pours her money and energy into renovations. She never forgot about the one that got away. Will he accept her? Will he shun her, too?
18-years later, Coert Yeager is a single dad of an adorable little girl. He is the Sheriff of Magdalene. When he finds out that Cady has moved to his town from Colorado, he becomes angry. He has worked so hard to forget her. While she still peppered his thoughts and memories, he was surviving. And so what if relationships eluded him? He tried to lie to himself that Cady and the memory of what they once had weren't the cause. But now she's there and he want's her to leave.
❝He loved the way Cady Webster looked at him. And he loved it from the first moment she turned her head from the beer tap and met his eyes.❞
There is nothing like the feeling I get after finishing a Kristen Ashley book. She writes strong kick-butt heroines, sexy alpha males, and romance that is heartwarming, often heart wrenching, but always sexy! Top all that off, she writes some of the best second chance romance stories I've ever read! This is definitely one of those books I will read again and again! Definitely a top favorite of the year!
❝... when you write the end to this chapter of your life, that's where your next chapter starts. The one that leads to a happy ending.❞

Brandi's review
KA pure gold - The Time In Between was such an emotional, beautifully told journey that this is definitely on my Top Five of 2017. Readers know that when KA gives us magic, it's more than just a story, it touches the reader significantly so much that the story becomes reality and sticks with the soul for a lifetime.
I'm keeping this one as spoiler-free as possible because you MUST go thru this oblivious. You need to FEEL the story and all the emotions that come with it. Curiosity, confusion, anger, acceptance, hope and happiness are just a few I felt throughout this book . Coert and Cady make the perfect h/h with a romance that has lasted nearly twenty years. I'm not the biggest fan on second-chance romances but KA does it right with giving us enough about the past but focuses more in the present.
We do get to visit with some of our favorites from another series (cough...they live in Denver...cough) along with couples from the previous books in the Magdeline series. You know how KA rolls! The epilogue was pure perfection, as always!
Karia's Thoughts...
I need to get off my chest the rant rolling about in my mind (and my 1/2 star demotion of a beloved KA-book). In real life, people screw up. In real life, they are stubborn and let true love slip through their fingers. In real life, those that love them watch them ghost through life and age without a love of their own. BUT...and this is a big but...I want fantasy from my romance. In the vain of Sylvia and Creed, Millie and High, and even Lee and Indy...it really drives me made when the Hero denies his 'one' and even moves on (and even rings other women) only to finally figure his shit out some 10, 15, or even 20 years later. I don't like that part, Sam I am...I do not like my H and h apart.
Not really a spoiler...but Patrick was Cady's salvation from the vortex she and Coert created...Long story (about 20% of the book), we learn just how amazing Patrick was. That said, I also would have loved a letter from Patrick explaining exactly why he allowed those 15-18 yrs to go on and on and on...I get that he wanted Coert to deserve Cady and come crawling back. But seriously, why wouldn't he have left it for a year or two and then hauled Coert into his office and laid him straight. That one niggly point just kept poking at my brain and it seemed out of character for Patrick to not have intervened. Literally...Cady's best years slipped by, albeit they were filled with more family and honest to goodness love than she had ever known...but come on.
When the flashbacks stopped and Present was at the header of each chapter...oh...momma she like!!! Cady put herself out there. She let herself be vulnerable. Coert, being Coert was an A-hole, stubborn and also an over-protective sweetheart-jerk. I loved their dance. The time in between their first time together and the now all passes away and they are just two destined souls finding home. I loved how right it was and how natural and organic. This is what Kit does best...writes, weaves, wanders in and out of hearts, love, promises and futures with such beauty and ease.
The cameos were great and made this story a fully fleshed finale. Previous Madgalene characters of course came out to play with my faves 'The Truck' and Mickey (fans self) making hottie-alert appearances. Old Denver peeps popped in and out, but it was the smattering of new people pushing the story that captured me. I couldn't wait to hear what Kathy, Pat and even Mike would say next...as Cady's family, they loved her, cared for her, and held nothing back in their protection of her. Ohhh, and kids. There were lots of kids and they played important roles in revealing character, but also entertainment. So glad we got to see them especially Cady's oldest niece Verity. Their relationship really cemented Cady's character and her devotion to her family. I could almost understand why she choose to stay away from Coert for long to care and love the others.
Great end to this series and as always...looking forward to new from Kristen Ashley!

Cady Moreland is starting the next chapter in her life by leaving Colorado and moving to Maine. Though she has never lived in Maine, she has ties there that pull her, that she considers Fate calling her. Eighteen years ago, her whole life was shattered when the one person she thought she could count on broke her trust and broke her heart.
Coert Yeager can’t avoid the new lighthouse keeper, despite his desire to have nothing to do with her. Though he has done his own living in the time between, the hurt is still fresh over what she did.
I loved the memories these two shared, and learning more about what led up to their breakup had me both loving them and hating what I knew had to be coming. This was a slow burn, even for KA. These two have years of no communication after a series of events that shattered both their hearts. Neither has really healed, even though both have tried. The anger Coert has held on to fuels several antagonistic encounters before either has time to think.
But there is also a good deal of Fate interceding to push these two together, and it doesn’t take much for Coert to at least step back into protective mode around Cady, even if he isn’t ready for anything other than professional contact.
When I said this was a slow burn, it is not just because Coert and Cady circle each other for some time before moving things forward, but also because it is a long read. KA is well known for her lengthy stories, and this is no exception. I will say, I felt the length less with this one than I have with some of her more recent novels, and part of that is the town of Magdalena itself, as well as the lighthouse. Yes, descriptions tend to be lengthy, but scanning particularly detailed ones doesn’t detract from the story and keeps the KA voice that readers have grown accustomed to.
The family that is introduced with this particular story is numerous and richly created. The sheer numbers of family members Cady has, as well as those she brings into her fold speak to her character and her resilience. This is not a family she was born into, rather it is one she joined later in life, and one that has adopted her completely as one of their own. I loved how quickly the entire Moreland clan connected with Maine and made Cady’s home their own.
I always look forward to new KA simply because her worlds are so rich. I felt like I was living in Magdalena, renovating the lighthouse with Cady. I felt like I was walking the streets of town with Coert, and waiting for him to return after answering a late night call-out.

Love this author, top 5 but this book was not my favorite. It was a bit boring. I enjoyed the first half of the book and had no problem with the plot or characters but after the two got together it was boring. I don't mind having characters get together and keeping the book going, Kristen Ashley does that all the time but this time nothing was happening really. They got back together and we just hear how they live their daily lives, no problems, no drama, nothing. Also, and I might be wrong..Spoiler..but I believe she said she lost his child years ago (pregnant but maybe I just did not read right) and I cant remember that being discussed together as a couple. So the second half was boring except for maybe the last 10% where we again a bit of drama with her brother but yay the second half I could of done without.

The Time in Between by the outstanding author Kristen Ashley is the third book in the Magdalene Series. The other books are The Will; Josephine and Jake's book. And Soaring; Amelia and Mickey's book.
The Time in Between is Cady and Coert's book.
Cady Moreland moved back to Magdalene and brings new life into the old light house. She suffered great loss and is there to regroup. There is only the tiny itsy bitsy complication in form of a sheriff. Coert Yeager has learned to life without the girl that was his whole life. And now she's back.
I will not spoiler here, much, only so much, I read the book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. And I was hooked from page one. Meet strong alpha heroes and determined heroines.
The writing is brilliant and I love Kristen Ashley's words, so much. She's my one-click author.
This story has it all—tension, angst, suspense and heartbreak. I've smiled, laughed, cried and was angry at some point. It is not often I feel so connected to the characters, but Kristen Ashley has accomplished just that. I love love love the story, the characters and the words. Her Golden Dynasty will always be my number one book, forever, but The Time in Between is a close second.
I recommend The Time in Between and the other books in this series and give 5 stars.

Nothing makes me happier than a good old fashioned second chance romance, and when it comes from one of my favorite authors… well, color me ecstatic!
The Time in Between is love and heart ache wrapped in misunderstanding and forgiveness. A love that began in youth, ended in a tragically emotional betrayal and will reconcile with adult minds and mature hearts.
I felt so much for both characters. The heartache is dripping from each page. I wanted to console each of them separately and knock some heads together multiple times. I think Coert and Cady will go down as a favorite coupling for sure. Their story is delivered in the style Kristen Ashley is known for: tender, sweet, remorseful, and completely satisfying.
The Time in Between is a perfect ending to a beautiful series and this reader hopes that it finds a few more stories to share in the future.
A perfect end of summer read to help you move into the romance of fall.

The Time In Between is another 5 star read for me in this series. I loved everything about this gorgeous second chance romance. Lots of appearances from characters in Kristen's previous books and series and a huge extended family I loved from the moment they appeared in the story. Coert Yeager is just another added to the list of badass alpha male goodness. I was heartbroken for Cady with her situation in the past and if anyone deserved a HEA it was without a doubt her. These two were perfect for each other and I was happy to see them learn from the mistakes and start building a lasting foundation towards their future. Combined with lots and I mean lots of family and friends, a little girl who is smart beyond her 5 years and a cutie protective dog I couldn't have asked for a better ending to the series!

I read this book in 3 days! It was awesome! I actually read the entire Magdalene Trilogy in about a week and a half...and this was a dream to read and explore. What I love most is each of the couples were not your typical 20 or even 30 something characters. These story's were written about couples finding love in their 40's...finding their happy ending....after years of searching. I loved that! I loved that they had experienced life...and found themselves at the age they were at probably wondering how they got there. They were flawed...but still oh so loveable. Yes I cried at times because it could be heartachingly sad...but Kristen always gives us the good at the end! I love the strong men in the books...I love the strong women in the books...and this book was the perfect end to a wonderful trilogy! Thank you Kristen Ashley for a wonderful ride! And as a mid 40 something woman still looking for her happy ending...Thank you so much!

I am sad this series is over because I have really enjoyed it immensely. This book was wonderful and the ending was the sweetest ever, which is a great ending to the series. The family dynamics in this story are filled with love, humor, beauty and heartwrenching sadness. I loved getting to know Cady and Coert, their past, what happened in between and what they built once their hearts found one another again. Kristen Ashley always knows how to speak to the heart through her storytelling and draw you into the story's setting and characters. Amazing!

This was an epic love story between Cady and Coert. When the blurred lines were made clear and the dust had settled - Cady had found herself on a different path than what she had dreamed. After 17 years. She found herself fulfilling the request of Patrick Moreland and bought the lighthouse in Magdalene. The beautiful words on the pages of this book tell you the epic love story of Cady and Coert.

I really, really, REALLY loved this book!
A story about second chances. The ones that save you and change everything you are.
The characters are just unforgettable. Perfect. All of them. And the little reunion with some people from other Kristen Ashley 's books made the story even better. If it was possible.
I finished the book and I could not stop smiling. That's utterly amazing.

Cady Webster is changing her life and moving from Denver to Magdalene, Maine. She has an underlying reason, but she is almost afraid to believe that it is a possibility. So she does it for herself anyway and finds the perfect place to renovate and live...the dilapidated lighthouse in Magdalene.
Coert Yeager is the Sheriff in town. And he also happens to be her first love. They share a checkered past that was left with broken hearts, betrayal, and pain. But it has been almost twenty years now and Coert has settled into this town, has a young daughter, but has been unable to ultimately commit to any of the women he has dated. He is not really welcoming her presence in his life either. He is angry and confrontational, but is feels loss, hurt, guilt, and betrayal.
But there is a thin line between love and hate. Cady never got over him even though she had reason to upset. She is caring, kind, honest, and sweet. She never felt like she truly belonged, no matter how many people tried to love her. Her life changed drastically based on one decision and it was challenging. But it was her life and she came out in a good place. But she never could forget Coert. And his decisions caused just as much trouble, and the fact he is reactive and not a good listener did not help in the past or the present. He is a total KA alpha and honestly he is kind of a jerk early on. But I knew eventually we would get to his sweet, protective, caring side eventually.
It takes a while to learn about their pasts in flashbacks and all of their secrets. It also takes a long time for them to begin to actually communicate or share the truth with each other and even begin to face their past and as noted Coert really needed to be more open to listening). So it was a slow start between them avoiding, fighting, and flashbacks. But finally situations arise that force them to work together along with finally dealing with some of their issues, and things began moving.
Once they start figuring things out, it is like a light switches on and it is full speed ahead. They are "running to catch up" for time lost. But it is still an evolving process as they deal with past guilt, family issues, external drama, and try to rebuild what they lost. And there is also an underlying suspense and danger plot running through the story as well.
The town of Magdalene and the lighthouse shines through with vivid descriptions and interesting side characters. We catch up with the other couples Jake/Josie, Amelia/Mick, and Alyssa/Junior and kids from this series. We are introduced to Cady's large and quirky family, Coert's precocious daughter, Janie, and a sweet young man named Elijah. I squeed with some fun cameos from another series! Yeah!
This is an epic (long) story of young love to second chance love. It's about reconnection with the "one" from the past, but as the people they grew to be in "the time between." But there is pain, heartbreak, betrayal, loss and guilt along the way. These two needed some communication help especially initially. But once everything is finally laid out there, they have a lot of time to make up for. And even though they have grown as individuals and matured, they still have some growing to do as a couple. And they were still coming to some self realizations as well. It's still not always easy or perfect, but it's real.
The thing about KA books is that when I am done, I find that I am totally attached to the characters, the story, the town, and the journey. But due to the book length and long descriptions, I find myself reading steadily but the percentage read on my Kindle goes so slowly and it often frustrates me. It sometimes pulls me out of the story when it gets really descriptive over daily happenings or a location. And sometimes the same happened to me with the amount of sex scenes. And this one did feel like it took awhile to really get to the good stuff.
But I enjoyed the book. It had an interesting premise and story. I enjoyed this series, these couples, and Magdalene. But that is why I cannot give it a 5 even though it does truly feel like I just spent several days in Magdalene. I used to enjoy longer books especially by KA, but as I read more I find my patience wearing thinner and a need to get faster resolutions and feel like I am making progress as I read. But that is my personal habit, and I know many others love the long, ambling, descriptive KA style. But some things that KA has always done well are alpha males, strong heroines, and swoony epilogues. I will admit that I closed the book with a big smile on my face and a happy sigh.

"Together we flew and together we drifted down to earth, to his bed, his room, this world, this life. Ending still with Coert and me. Yes, it was glorious."
I don't know how she does it but Kristen Ashley has written yet another sparkling gem of a story. Emotional, heart-warming, sexy and heart-breaking, this book has EVERYTHING I love. There's a tough-talking, over-protective Alpha, a sweet and steely but damaged heroine and lots and lots of family goodness. There is nothing like a good, old-fashioned second-chance romance as only KA can do it!!
The 'Magadalene' series is one of my favorites and while this book can be read as a standalone, I HIGHLY recommend reading the other books in the series!! They are GOLDEN. Set in a beautiful Maine town, I thoroughly enjoyed the detailed descriptions of architecture, seasons, local food (of course) and the tight-knit bond of the local townspeople. This book launches right into the reasons why Cady has moved to town: she purchased the crumbling lighthouse because not only does her estranged brother live nearby, but the love of her life, Coert, is the sheriff. She is determined to make amends with both of them. But Coert makes it VERY clear right from the beginning that she is to stay away from him at all costs. What happened between them all those years ago to make him so bitter? And exactly how and why has Cady changed so much from the young rebellious girl she once was?
Cady and Coert’s epic love began many years before in Colorado. Cady ran with a wild crowd and her family did not approve of her choices or her lifestyle. But Cady was always self-sufficient and independent and worked long hours at a dead-end job just to make ends meet. She wanted a better life for herself. She doesn't meet Coert under the best of circumstances but their love was real. A terrible turn of events tears them apart and just like that, the only beautiful thing Cady had was gone.
Cady and Coert then spend many years apart. When they meet again in Magdalene, they both have huge misconceptions about each other. But they are both older and wiser and hopefully won't make the same mistakes again. I absolutely LOVED how Kristen Ashley brought these two together again and I was literally sobbing reading much of this book. The story is long, it is weighty and it is hugely satisfying.
"I was in love with Coert Yeager in a way that it just simply would never die."
This glorious story features cameo appearances by characters from the 'Rock Chick' series (yay!) and it is filled with light and love and hope and smoking hot romance. Grab a bottle of wine, settle in and enjoy the ride!! Thanks again to Ms. Ashley for another unforgettable second-chance romance.
“This is life. And in all that’s happened in mine, the one thing I’ve learned is, as ugly as it gets, as bad as you mess up, if you keep going, it’ll get good again.”

Present day…
They wanted me home.
In Denver.
“If you need to find your way, you should do it with your family.”
They weren’t my family.
They were Patrick’s.
“You know I love you,” I said softly.
“Yes, I know. And Kath knows. Verity. Dex. I could go on but I won’t. What I’ll do is say we love you too. Dad’s gone and we all lost him. We all miss him. And trust me, because we’re all here and you’re there, I know it’s easier to grieve when you’re with family.”
“To get back to our original discussion,” I changed the subject badly, “Kath has my power of attorney. If the house sells—”
“If the house sells,” Pat interrupted me, “then the stuff in it needs to be auctioned off.”
“And I went through everything with Kath, Pam and Shannon before I left, so they know everything that I haven’t put aside is good to go.”
“I think with this break, you should come home and have another look. Kath tells me you barely put anything aside.”
“None of it, as you know, is Patrick.”
Again he said nothing but this time he stuck with that.
“I’m doing what your father wanted, Pat,” I reminded him.
“I’m not sure he was in his right mind when he shared what he wanted, Cady,” Pat returned.
“You know that isn’t true,” I chided gently. “You know he’d been planning this for years.”
And again, Pat was silent.
“I need to do this, Pat. For your dad.”
“If the place sells, you need to come home.”
“Kath has my power—”
“When we say goodbye to that house, Cady, we’ll want you home.”
It was my turn to be silent.
“Are we agreed on that?” he asked.
“Yes,” I whispered.
“Good,” he said and it sounded almost like a grunt.
I nearly grinned.
Instead I took another sip of wine.
“I’ll keep you informed with how the sale is going,” he promised.
“Thanks, sweetheart,” I replied.
“And Kath wouldn’t mind hearing from you,” he shared with me.
That surprised me.
“I called her just yesterday.”
“She’s used to talking to you every day, and seeing you nearly every day. So maybe think on that.”
I closed my eyes.
We were thick as thieves, Kath and me. Pam and me. Heck, Shannon was my third best friend.
The rest of the family would miss me. But it would hit Kath, Pam and Shannon hard, and I knew this because if any of them went away, I’d be devastated.
And I was because I was going away.
I just couldn’t think about that.
“I’ll give her a call a bit later,” I told him.
“Appreciated.”
“Okay, then, I have a camembert bleeding here and—”
“I know you’re going to see him.”
I shut my mouth.
Pat didn’t.
“I know you’re going to try to see them and I’ll just put my two cents in here to say neither of them is worth it, Cady. They both turned their backs on you. That one, that cop, what he did to you—”
I closed my eyes again and whispered, “Please.”
“They don’t deserve to know you, honey. They don’t deserve to have your light in their lives. I don’t know what Dad was thinking and I loved my father. The whole world feels strange without him in it because he was such a big part of mine. But he’s wrong about this. I feel it in my bones.”
“It’s beautiful here,” I said quietly, opening my eyes and staring into the fire.
“I know.”
“Peaceful,” I told him.
“I know that too.”
“I need to do what he wanted me to do, Pat.”

Kristen Ashley is one of the ONLY authors that delivers again and again. WHATEVER book/genre she writes I can be assured that I’ll enjoy it. It’s rare to find an author that is this versatile, talented, and has such a unique voice that it will NEVER get boring.
Of course, throughout the years and the 40plus KA books I’ve read there are some books that stand out more than others. The MAGDALENA series has been one of those series. Every single book has been heartbreakingly beautiful, deeply affecting and an emotional roller coaster. She gives these couples a second chance, often later in live, that involves big families, kids and ex-partners.
I’m at that point where I don’t even need to read her blurbs anymore because who cares what the book will be about it’s a KA book – enough said!!
So, while reading The Time in Between I was reminded again and again why I liked KA as much as I did. Kristen Ashley‘s unique brand of dialogues, her vivid and detailed description, her sense of fashion, interior design and her absolute god-given talent of writing some of the BEST families I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading – makes her a JOY and a devour-in-one-sitting kind of author.
OMG – and The Time in Between had the BEST cameo EVER!!!! Rock Chicks rejoice!!!! I was smiling so HARD!!! I loved, loved, loved the connection to Denver, it was such an amazing surprise – she couldn’t have written it any better.
The beginning of The Time in Between was a little slow, and I had some trouble understanding Cady’s family ties, but that was forgotten as quickly as I got deeper into the story.
I have to mention it again, there is NO ONE that writes families as well as KA. There was so much love, affection, loyalty, and fun in The Time in Between. Her character (most of them) have the most wonderful family values that I wish everyone would experience in their life. And the women have the best husbands of all. ?
Reading a KA novel makes me HAPPY!! And I’m super glad that she writes like crazy because I would hate having to wait an entire year for the chance to read another Kristen Ashley book.
Of course, throughout the years and the 40plus KA books I’ve read there are some books that stand out more than others. The MAGDALENA series has been one of those series. I needed this book so bad! I've been craving a Kristen Ashley book for months now and I was so excited to get a chance to review this one. I'll warn you that I LOVED this book so much that I'm probably about to ramble on and make no sense because I just loved it that much. Per usual when a book touches me I can never express fully how much someone else should go read it.
The Magdalene series is one of my favorite and The Time in Between does not disappoint. I had all the feels for this one and found myself wanting to strangle Coret for not letting Cady a moment to just speak and explain but isn't that typical of men. If he had so much could've been avoided - then and same goes for the past. Ugh, men!
Cady's history is one that made me cry several times. All she ever wanted to do was stick to her plan and make it on her own but people and things kept getting in the way and she really did get a shit deal for awhile. Although, when you read the entire story you'll find out how the kindness of one man made Cady's life so much better - even if no one else took a moment to understand.
Coret is of course a hot cop but he also had suffered during the time in between and has reason to be upset. However, once he finally is forced to listen things really get good.
Side note: let's hear it for awesome big brothers!
Kristen Ashley is one amazing story teller. She really stirred up all the emotions in this one. If you love her books you'll love this one. If you've not read anything from her or maybe haven't read this series you can totally pick this one up and not be lost. It completely stands on its own. Get ready though. This book will have you calling out of work and ignoring the world - at least it did for me.
The Time in Between is a second chance romance you will not want to miss. 5 stars!

Time in Between has become my favourite book of this series! Cady made me laugh, cry, forget to breathe and make my stomach somersault.
The compassion she expressed to family and strangers considering her background was impressive. To love as deeply as this woman had and become the heartbeat of “The Family” – tears in my eyes too many times.
Picking my favourite moments and characters is just so hard. Pat Moreland Jnr is my hero and chapter sixteen is a standout. “The family” for Cady made this story into more than just a love story and provided many magical and lighthearted moments.
I always knew Coert had an incredibly broken story. The way the past and present entwine and fill the gaps from the lost Time in Between made me unable to put this book down.
The Magadalene series was completed perfectly, the ending scenes gave great closure for all the wonderful characters in this town.
I will be reading the Magdalene stories every year as three strong women in this town provided some incredibly tough heartbreaking moments but also great friendship tales.
Quote: And the beam of the lighthouse that was the last thing Patrick Moreland gave to the daughter he met at a convenience store went round and round, constant and tireless in offering safety.

Excellent conclusion to a freaking awesome series. Coert and Cady were brilliant and so freaking sweet. It was also super neat to have cameos from the Rock Chick series included. I mean, it's tradition by now to at least have some crossover with the Rock Chicks! Overall, amazing and enthralling read!

"This morning, with her, having coffee." Johnny Cash's description of paradise.
The absolute best quote of the book. I love me some Johnny Cash. I added a star just for that. Because honestly, it would've been 2 stars.
Anyway, as far as the book goes....disappointing. I still can't get over how they split up the first time (I felt this wasn't thoroughly explained, it was told second hand). And then the ridiculous story surrounding how she spent the next 18 years of her life. That's all. I'm not going to say anymore.

If I had to pick only one book I read this year that I am allowed to re-read, it would be this one. Heartbreakingly beautiful, I connected with this story so much! Let’s not factor in the name similarity here, still, this book was so beautiful, I cried over the beauty!

This is the ultimate second-chance romance! There are not enough words for me to describe how much I loved this book! Wonderful characters in the gorgeous selling of Magdalene, super hot steamy scenes, parts that made me ugly cry and a great story about second chances and forgiveness - I couldn't ask for more. The epilogue was amazing and I finished this book with tears in my eyes and a smile on my face - complete perfection! This is a favorite of 2017 for me and going on my all time favorites list!

Readers get ready to be swept away by another epic romance delivered in Kristen Ashley’s signature style. This woman knows how to create some of the best alpha males in the adult contemporary genre. The third installment of the ”Magdalene” series is a second chance romance between two amazing characters who have been separated for nearly two decades over unfortunate circumstances and complete miscommunication. I think KA fans are really going to enjoy this one. Her descriptive narrative enhances the reader’s enjoyment—you actually feel as if you’re living in the small town of Magdalene.

Another winner from KA! This second-chance romance has everything I enjoy in a book....Great characters, humor, hotness and a sweet, but sad back-story. I love the quirky, unconventional family dynamic and the great cast of secondary characters. Coert and Cady's story is long, but not drawn out. In typical Kristen Ashley fashion, once this alpha man found his love, he was not letting anything get in his way. Their reconciliation was real...it wasn't easy, but it was sexy and beautiful.

Is it possible to get a second-chance at love? To make it work with the person that hurt you the most? Kristen Ashley’s new book The Time in Between tells the story of Coert and Cady who had a brief and intense relationship eighteen years ago. It ended badly, but now they get another chance to build a life together. I love their story.
“My decisions might be unwise but they were a part of me, and in the end, they’d put me right there. So I should embrace them. Because they were me.”
Eighteen years ago, Cady and Coert fell hard and fast for each other. Their love was real, but when reality caught up with them hearts were broken and hasty decisions made. Both move on with their lives, but deep down they know they’ve lost something very special. With Cady moving to Magdalene, she and Coert see each other for the first time after their break-up. Coert is still angry and hurt based upon assumptions he made all those years ago and Cady is just lost. It’s very clear there’s still love between the couple, but first both need to know the whole truth.
“That can’t happen,” I told him quietly. He shook his head once. “It’s already happened, Cady.” I shook my head too, more than once. “I…this is me saying now, after what happened tonight, that I’m seeing the way things are and it can’t happen.” “Something like this starts, you can’t stop it.”
The Time in Between is the third book in the ‘Magdalene Series’ and takes the reader back to the coastal city of Magdalene. Like the other books in the series it tells the story of a couple in their forties, who both have lived lives. Alternating chapters in the past and the present paint a full picture of the story of Cady and Coert. The Time in Between is a typical Kristen Ashley book with a heroine you want as a friend, an Alpha hero (who’s not over-the-top), lots of family/friends and beautiful descriptions of outfits and houses. I would love to spend some time in Cady’s lighthouse.
I love the ‘Magdalene Series’, and The Time in Between is a perfect addition. I was a bit upset with the choices Cady made all those years ago, but I get her. She was so hurt and desperate, she only accepted the kindly offered help. Coert, Coert, Coert… I wanted to smack him a few times for the grudge he holds towards Cady. I know she has hurt him, but he played a big role in the whole breakdown. For the rest, Coert is absolutely a great guy; he’s a wonderful dad to his four-year-old daughter, a hard worker and I love the fact he doesn’t talk bad about his former girlfriends. I love Cady and Coert together. Once they’re past the anger and hurt, they are a great couple that truly belongs together.
“I wouldn’t have put you through all this, if I wasn’t all in, if I didn’t still love you. You said you still loved me too. So we have that. We hold on to it. And we ride these rapids until I can get us to safety. You with me?” “I’m with you.”
I love Cady and Coert, and their second-chance at love. I give The Time in Between 5 stars.

Well slap me sideways, I now get it. The Time In Between is my first ever Kristen Ashley book and holy mother of pearl! This book had every single thing this romance reader could want. There was heartbreak and danger, fear and forgiveness, hope and family, trials and love. Throw some small town underhandedness and scheming into the mix and it was a story I got swept away in.
There was just something about Cady that made it impossible to not root for her. She was kind and gracious down to her soul but in no means a push over. She was resilient and determined to make the life she wanted for herself, on her terms. And that meant trying to make things right with her biggest regret, Coert.
Can you say broody? How about serious? That's what he was when Cady came rolling back into his life. But under the stony facade was a man who had loved and lost and was still reeling from years of hurt. I liked that while he hardened his heart, that his daughter was his soft spot. That was until a blast from the past came calling and put Coert's world at risk. This brought out all of his protective instincts, even when it came to Cady. The tricky situation forced them together in a way neither one of them really wanted but needed. It was the catalyst for what would be the biggest and best change in them both.
While The Time in Between was long (like took me about a week to read long) it was full of so much goodness that I really didn't mind that much. I loved that Kristen Ashley gave me characters who had lived life. Who had experienced joy and suffered so that they could appreciate the small moments. Those quiet moments is what really made this book. From hand holding to dog cuddling and redefining paradise, Coert and Cady's journey is what romance dreams are made of.

With detailed descriptive scenery that transported me right into Maine, flawless, emotional writing the kept me turning the pages, and a timeless second-chance romance that made my heart swell, The Time In Between was pure beauty.
After years of pain and sorrow Cady Moreland is on a journey to right wrongs and reconnect with her past. Her first step is a move from Colorado to Maine, purchasing a magnificently run-down lighthouse. Determined yet fearful to start over her second step is to find Coert Yeager and pray that he will listen to what she has to say.
Coert doesnt want to remember Cady because all it does is bring pain but he cant seem to forget her. Her arrival throws his life off balance and it is not something he is happy about. Cady's determination is immediately met with tremendous and heart wrenching obstacles.
Alternating between the past and present the reader is given a full history of the relationship between Coert and Cady helping you to connect deeply with them. The emotions that Kristen Ashley was able to infuse into each sentence only adds to that connection. At times the story was almost too much for my heart to handle. I hurt for Coert and Cady, felt everything that they felt. I took deep breathes, I closed my eyes from the pain when I didn't want to cry anymore but through it all I could feel how much both characters loved each other under all that brokenness. As badly as I wanted a quick fix to what was broken for them I knew that their journey had to play out and that it would be well worth it.
If you are new to Kristen Ashley, or even an dedicated fan the Magdalene series is a must read! A beautiful ending to a fantastic series!

Take all that is Kristen Ashley and magnify it ten fold and you get The Time in Between. This story gives everything Magdalene has to offer. It's a beautiful, heartfelt second chance love story.
Cady Moreland had been saved by a man who wanted her to have a family. He wanted to protect her, keep her safe and give her a family unlike the one who rejected her. Patrick had found Cady crying after her world came to a crashing down. When Cady discovered that man she loved was not the man he said he was.
It's eighteen years later when Cady moves to Magdalene to connect with two men from her past, her estranged brother and the only man she ever loved who also had betrayed her.
Sheriff Coert Yeager doesn't know how to handle Cady moving to Magdalene. She had left him for another man, not giving him a chance to make things right. He wants her to stay out of his life but keeps finding ways to show up in hers.
Coert and Cady's story is emotional. They have a second chance at finding love. They had the time in between to find their way, get their footing, make them who they are now. Now they are "Running to catch up". They no longer want to lose time but can they move on from their devastating past? This is a love story at it's finest. Cady is all heart and soul. She gives and expects nothing in return.
Couples from the first two books in the series make appearances along with a Rock Chick or two. I loved this story, this series and Cady. I will say Boston Stone does finally get his comeuppance. Yes, finally! The Time in Between is a beautifully soulful read. 5 Stars.

Rene's Thoughts:
☞ At first, I wasn't a fan of the novel moving between the past and the present; but in order to understand the depth of Cady and Coert's relationship it worked really well. You needed to know the pain of the past, in order to understand why things were so tense.
☞ Ashely, has an amazing ability to make you feel like you're right there with the characters. Although I have been to the coast of Maine, I have never been inside of a light-house - now I have!
☞ Ashley really understand people and is able to create rich, complicated characters. Where they are the major love interests or the minor ones who pepper their world. This novel was no different, but the quantity of them I felt was a bit overwhelming at times. Trying to keep track of who was who, distracted me from the couple's narrative.
☞ The serious drama that brought the couple back into each other's path, was anticlimactic. I would've liked to see it drawn out, overlapping Cady and Coert reunion.
☞ There is no denying that Cady and Coert work perfectly as a couple, they always did. Although they have both changed over the years, they both want the same things out of life. And their chemistry is still HAWT!
☞ I really loved how Ashley was able to cross over this series with the Rock Chick series! We get to see how Nightingale and company are doing, in a very unique way. I would've however, preferred more time with the other Magdalene couples and seeing Cady being welcomed into Coert's group of friends.
Happy Reading!

The male lead was beyond selfish and a hypocrite. The female lead was weak and stupid. There was an attempt to make her come across as compassionate and giving she came across as stupid and weak. there was nothing likable about either character. The back story on why they broke up was also hard to follow even for a fictional story . The background characters were also annoying and not likeable.
