What to Expect: Eating Well When You're Expecting

Review:The recipies all have a very long ingrediant list and can be pretty complicated. I work alot and was hopping for somthing to just tell me what to eat while pregnet and a halfway simple way to do it. I only made the muffin recipies, they were good and was happy with how healthy they were but took alot of time and don't keep very well. Read more

Proven Guidelines for a Healthy Multiple Pregnancy
Proven Guidelines for a Healthy Multiple Pregnancy

Review:I give FULL credit for my successful twin pregnancy to this book! I wish I could meet the authors and personally thank them. I followed the advice very strictly. I knew I needed help when I asked my doctor for advice on eating and she recommended I eat an extra yogurt a day.
What were my results? I went 38.5 weeks before I had a scheduled c-section and gave birth to two healthy girls, 7 lbs 11 oz and 6 lbs 15 oz. This is HUGE for twins!!!
My pediatrician shook my hand and said "I don't kn... Read more

Top 100 Baby Purees
Top 100 Baby Purees

Review:The recipes were good and easy, probably no combinations I couldn't have come up with on my own, but it was nice to have quantities/ratios spelled out for me. It was also nice in my sleep-deprived state to not have to try and come up with different combinations. I would definitely recommend this book for yourself or as a unique shower gift. Read more

Eleanor: A Novel

Review:Poetic prose and vivid imagery make this a great read about the struggles of a family dealing with a horrible tragedy. The reader cannot help but mourn and hurt along with the flawed characters, and hope for healing. Read more

Keeping Children and Teenagers Safe (and Parents Sane)
Keeping Children and Teenagers Safe (and Parents Sane)

Review:Great book sugested by a security consultant at work. Kind of scarry when you read about the risk our kids have, but good to have some ways to protect them. The author call it intuition but I call it the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Read more

Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques - and Other Realities of Adolescence
Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques - and Other Realities of Adolescence

Review:Great book for counselors to help kids cope with cliques, even though it is written to parents. I have used it in counseling sessions with the girls in the cliques, as well as their targets, to raise their awareness. It has helped change behavior already. It is the best book on girl bullying I have found. Read more

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills for Helping You Manage Mood Swings

Review:Good supplement for treatment, but it would be even better with a little less "wordiness" and simpler explanations and more activity sheets/activities. Overall, good to have in your library if you're working with teens. Read more

Advice Your Mom Would Give if She Thought You Were Listening

Review:Sounded like an interesting book to read and perhaps share with my daughter who is off to college. I was disappointed. Book is boring and uninteresting. The one star is for the book design and artwork. Don't waste your money Read more

Seven Questions to Ask Before -- and After -- You Marry
Seven Questions to Ask Before -- and After -- You Marry

Review:Although some of the advice is common sense for many couples (i.e. your problems don't go away when you get married), i think that overall it's useful for couples to discuss their different emotions and to get people communicating. and, let's face it, we all know at least one couple who needs to be told that problems in the relationship don't go away with marriage. How One Letter Changed Two Lives - I Will Always Write Back
How One Letter Changed Two Lives - I Will Always Write Back

Review:Although this is in the children/teen section of the book store I believe it is a book written for all ages. Especially in today's America, this book is a reminder to stop the self obsession and be kind. One person being kind can have such an impact. We can change our culture one person at a time...one kindness at a time. Read more
