Review:I was absolutely happy when I learned about this book! I loved The Iron Queen and all the books before it, but it was impossible for me to believe that could be the end. And so I found that there was this book, The Iron Knight, and I was ecstatic! I must admit, I was Team Puck throughout most of the series, but then I read the third book and I was Team Ash, and I after reading this book I don't think that'll change a bit. The book is done really well, and I think how Julie Kagawa did Ash's point... Read more
Review:I have been listening to audio books during my daily commute. And I stumbled on Jasper Fforde‘s Chronicles of Kazam series at the local library. I started with The Last Dragonslayer and next came The Song of the Quarkbeast. The third book, The Eye of Zoltar, turned out to be another fun listen on the daily commute.
Once again, Jennifer Strange is a good central character and the crew at Kazam Mystical Arts Management returns as well (although mostly backstage with the prominent exceptio... Read more
Review:Jasper Fforde has a unique way of looking at things. The mixture of the familiar, and somewhat bland for those of us with knowledge of some of the settings, with the outrageously bizarre is the hallmark of this author. Those who have read any of the nursery crimes or Thursday Next books will not be disappointed Read more
Review:Michael Scott does an excellent job with continuing this saga. As in previous books, it is non-stop stress / action as Flamel struggles to keep the twins alive and safe. Sacrifices are made. Additionally, Perenelle finally turns the tables. But there are loses some of which may be difficult to recover. Read more
Review:I read the reviews and decided to give The Alchemyst a go. Considering that it was the set up for a six book set, it was decent. The Magician was ok too. Not a lot of character development. The twins changed back and forth between mildly interesting and annoying. Flamel, Dee, and Macheivalli are all basically the same character, written from different points of view in a constant contest to see who is the most clever. Joan of Arc is not interesting at all. Francis comes off as a rakish bu... Read more
Review:This whole series is good but there are errors to a point it makes me wonder if the editors even read these books. The names get mixed up. The author says Gwen when he clearly meant Luanda and flower when it should be flour. However, the content is good and the story keeps me wanting more. Read more
Review:Nope; not gonna read another of these books. The author writes short books (I guess for the money) with cliff-hangers. A good author can write a series of stand-alone books that make you want more.
Also, the author has many gaps in his storyline. For instance, what happened to Thor's brothers who also got into the Legion? They simply disappear. Supposedly all of the Legion went on The 100 but no mention of them. And does Krohn (his pet) never grow? He can still fit inside his shirt. When the... Read more
Review:Because there are many repeated phrases and a few words used in correctly...I am guessing English is a second language for the author. That being said, the books did keep you interested enough to want to finish the series. Read more
Review:Whilst I like this genre I sometimes have difficulty liking the characters. Unfortunately the main character still annoys me but I am finding qualities I like. It took time to " get into the novel" but found by the end that I was invested enough to go straight onto the next instalment. Author is imaginative and writes well. Good range of ages for characters. A good read. Read more
Review:Thoroughly enjoy Terry Pratchett's books. I really liked this series. Excellent characterizations and the "wee free men" though having only a small part in this story compared to the other three books are a riot. (literally, lol.) Read more
