Chapter Books & Readers
Review:May be great for older kids but definitely not something you'd want to get for independent early readers. I got these for my 5 year old to read but then realized he's picking up words like "stupid", "dumb", "I hate school". I had to take the whole set of books away from him (I bought a set from scholastic reading club). Maybe I'll give them back to him when he's a little older for some fun reading, understanding you can't just throw those "bad" words out at friends and teachers in school. Read more
Review:...why my son thinks this book is hilarious...
We received this book as a gift from my son's teacher. They must have read it at school prior to receiving it as a gift since he knew the whole story the first time we read it together. He laughs so hard every time we read it he can barely breath. The book is a nice twist on "there was an old lady who swallowed a fly" here she doesn't die at the end of the rhyme.
Another reviewer was miffed that the lady "barfs" up everything she ate and... Read more
Review:My son brought this home from the school library (he's 4) and we also have a 1 year old. They both loved this book so much, I had to go out & buy a copy. I have never read a kids book that made me laugh out loud with each page. It is simply adorable, clever, and quite possibly my new favorite kids book. LOVE IT!! Read more
Review:Great book for a child just learning to read. Get ready for making toast every time this book appears. Mercy is a pig who lives in a house and enjoys buttered toast. She loves it so much that even when second floor starts to cave in, she runs off looking for buttered toast. The kids I read this book to snuggle up with their buttered toast as we cuddle up to read Mercy Watson to the Rescue. Any book by Kate DiCamillo is a treasure. Read more
Review:Very enjoyable read! For a long while, I'd wanted to read the complete and unabridged version, so my parents picked up this one for me. There was a lot of fish classification, but that made it a little like traveling under the sea with a scientist as a tour guide. Neat stuff.
If your looking for something action-packed, this might not be your read, due to the long distance between exciting scenes. Read more
Review:My daughter is reading these books at school and was thrilled to get a full set. Please note that there is a lot of language like "hate" and similar words, so if you are concerned about that I would not buy these books, but for my daughter they were perfect. Read more
Review:My daughter is upsessed with "Pinkalicious" at the moment. So I was happy to find books for her to read because she is in Kindergarten. This was perfect to do the job. She is currently a top reader in her class and these books were a little challenging but that is because she is still learning. So it was great. Not too many words for each book and they are all very small short stoires with alot of her "site words" included. She wants to read these everynight! And the $ is right! Read more
Review:Pinkalicious builds a house for fairies but the fairies don't come at first... that is all I will say so I don't give away the ending. It is an adorable story and my grand daughter who loves fairies loved it. Read more
Review:Pinkalicious and the Pink Drink is a precious story about a sassy girl doing her best to make money for some gum balls. It is another great book in the Pinkalicious series, and I enjoyed reading it to my daughter in her early elementary days.
What I disliked: Nothing. I am very biased and love this line.
What I liked: I love the colors, vibrancy and problem solving of this book. Pinkalicious wants to purchase gum balls, she works hard to earn the money, and after ... Read more
Review:I have a seven-year-old daughter who adores these books. She reads them on her own, and she only needs a little help while making her way through them. I actually like tha tpart of it though because it means that th ebook is challenging her. She truly enjoys the series. Read more
