Review:I had already purchased this book for myself and have enjoyed listening to the birds (it's a talking book) and identifying the birds. The only drawback is that it's too big to carry if going on a hike to birdwatch.
I ordered 3 more books for Christmas presents this year. I'm sure the recipients will enjoy it too! Read more
Review:Not everyone needs or wants a full-blown field guide to every North American bird, which can sometimes be overwhelming or too detailed. Birds of Indiana is an excellent primer in helping learn about and identify native birds. What could be easier--birds are arranged by color and then by size (small to big). One big picture of each bird (along with a smaller opposite sex insert) on one side of the page is accompanied by pertinent statistics on the other side. Helpful "compare" features pinpoi... Review:It's an excellent source of information that's easy to use. We carry it with us whenever we're out in nature. I plan now to buy one for Wisconsin and New York as well to give to family members living in those states. Read more
Review:I love these field guides. They are compact, full of information, contain high quality photos of each entry to make identification unmistakable, and contain every bird I have ever needed to look up. These may be the best field guides out there. Read more
Review:Pros: Bigger format, bigger pictures, arrows pointing to major identification characteristics, some subspecies and color variations.
Cons: Some pages too crawded, so it is not obvious which name/description goes to which picture (that might be a problem for a begginer), different order of groups (book starts with geese, most other guides start with loons), few pictures not very accurate (bill shape on some warblers). Read more
Review:This came in great shape. I will be honest though, my reading load has been heavy and I haven't got to this book yet. I did however read their other book, and know they are great dog trainers. I suggest this book to anyone try to train their dog. Also look into other books about the monks of new skete's german shepards. Read more
Review:Who could have predicted that a young Michael Pollan writing about gardening would become a leading advocate for responsible agriculture and one of the country's biggest-selling writers? Just about anyone who read him then, is my guess. Pollan shows in this gem of a book what a terrific and layered writer he is.
For all the fantastic writing, the book, however, is uneven. Many of the chapters were published as magazine articles before the book came out, and it shows. The organization of t... Read more

Review:I just transferred and I took one semester of anatomy at Milligan College and one semester of anatomy at King University. King required the holes human anatomy and physiology book and I have 3 times the amount of trouble reading than one then the 1 Milligan had me which was visual anatomy and physiology 2. There are very few pictures and the wording is hard to comprehend. I just use my old anatomy text book instead of bothering with the Holes because it blows a fat one. It confused me on topics ...
