Education Theory
Review:Bill Ayers exudes a sensitivity to the child, the teacher and the art of teaching and learning that I have not found anywhere else in literature on education. His intellectual wit and wisdom about the state of education and humanity as a whole is both jolting and hopeful. Above all else, it is the carefulness with which he looks at the "what is" of the child and the teacher that touches the heart. Read more

Review:After homeschooling for a lonnnnggg time, I am so thankful for this beautiful reminder of the way reading g aloud enriches all our lives. So many times, I fall into routines and put off reading aloud as a last priority or don't do it at all. I knew it was good for us, but I didn't realize HOW good it is! I purchased this as an audiobook and I love it that the author is also the narrator! She does a great job drawing you in and making you want to listen to more. I am also going to purchase the ac... Review:I purchased this book twice. Once because I failed every single practice question in the book. The second time was because I wanted to review the information and try again after seeing what I did wrong. I failed most of the second tries again and decided to wing it on the actual Praxis test. I had absolutely no problem passing the Praxis test and I got fairly high scores. I'm not sure why I did poorly on all of the practice questions, but I'm pretty disappointed in the book even though I did pas... Read more
Review:This is an excellent source for finding free or better paid services than Kindle Unlimited (KU). The author gives you the name and description of some of the other free e-book apps, and some apps that cost similar to KU but have better selections of best selling books, that really make me feel foolish for spending $120 a year for KU. Review:Overall it fulfills the objective in the title, but there were some things that I think could be easily improved upon:
1. I found the overall organization of the book confusing, even though it is a short book. It's fine if you just read it beginning to end as I did, but if you are trying to figure out "Intro" vs. "Scenarios" in "Example Section 1" vs. "Example Section 2", etc., particularly with the amount of repetition within each section and between sections. Even the "Booklet Structu... Read more
Review:Leonard Sax has the experience and credentials to support this timely work. He effectively identifies and addresses social, educational, and behavioral issues of children and connects these factors back to the home. The emphasis of this book is not putting blame on parents. The focus is on identifying current factors, explaining how the situations developed, and suggesting what can be done about it. This book is written in a clear manner for a general audience. It is the first book I have come... Read more
Review:In lieu of Columbine and other school shootings, this one could be described as more horrible than most, given the way it was conducted, the age of the children involved and the dynamics that set up the perpetrator's actions. The question of firearms, firearm violence and mental health are equally exposed as critical issues for the future.
The author was pretty matter of fact in the descriptions of events, the circumstances leading up to the shootings and the pain suffered by families an... Read more
Review:This was required text for my Educational Psychology course.
Luckily .. the book is very detailed with many examples, because my teacher just breezed over most topics. We had to learn everything from the textbook.
The content can get dry at times...more the topic then the layout. The book does a good job of adding lots of extras to keep you interested. Read more
Review:Shout out to all Educators - Read this Book! The writing is amazing; feels like you are having a conversation rather than being preached to. Deeply resonated with me about teaching and learning practices. If we still teach the way we were taught - than it's time for change. You will be inspired and encouraged to take the LEAP and start initiating change within your classroom. Read more
