The War Planners
The War Planners

Review:Last night, I stayed up past my bedtime to finish this book; it was that thrilling. I *had* to know how it was going to wrap up. This book makes you think and feel in exciting ways. It is full of suspense and intrigue and keeps you guessing the whole way through. And, it exhilarates, provokes, and surprises. In short, it delights. The dialogue is exceptional and, like the book itself, moves at a fast pace. Keen psychological insights are sprinkled throughout the book--adding compelling depth to ... Read more

Review:There were definitely well scripted twists and turns. I sat down to read this morning and suddenly it was the afternoon. I inhaled this book. There ought to be a warning that reading Patterson may be bad for your ability to get chores done. Read more

Review:I bought the kindle version of this book and couldn't be more disappointed. As a I wandered my way though the typo-littered text I was astounded by the blatant misogynistic attitude of the book. The female characters of the book are constantly described as childish or child-like and must be guided by the greater expertise of the men.

I've read many of Wilbur Smith books but I was seriously disappointed by this one. Not only was the editing for the kindle edition exceptionally poor but I a... Read more

Dale Brown's Dreamland
Dale Brown's Dreamland

Review:Dale Brown is a much better solo writer. In Nerve Center there are too many characters each with too many names. Very confusing at times & the story is broken up into too many short chapters. I'm hoping the next two Dreamland books are better organized & more fun to read. I've read all of Dale Brown's other books. Thanks. Read more

No Country for Old Men
No Country for Old Men

Review:No slow start in this thriller - the murder of a deputy and escape of a sadistic killer; the fortuitous find by the hunter, Moss, amidst the corps of a Mexican drugs war gone wrong; propels the reader into the heart of the action immediately. But then Moss makes a stupid decision, and the hunter becomes the hunted.

The writing style is spare, with short clipped sentences that help to keep the action moving apace.

Sheriff Bell is investigating the deaths, which are occurring all ove... Read more

Dead Aim (Eve Duncan Book 6)
Dead Aim (Eve Duncan Book 6)

Review:I have never written a review before but I couldn't let this go. I had heard good things about Iris Johansen's books so I thought I would give it a try. It was such a disappointment. I made myself finish it but actually started another book so that I had something thoughtful to read while working my way through her book. The characters were as cliche as I have ever read. The plot didn't excite me. Unless it was free, I would never read another of Johansen's books. She obviously rides on her past... Read more

Review:A believable alternate history and compelling characters that I could see in my head made this a great read. The stark reality of realized racism informed the entire book and made it hard to come back to the present. Read more
