Arcane (The Arinthian Line Book 1)
Arcane (The Arinthian Line Book 1)

Review:Arcane is the first entry in the initial series of five books. I found it to probably be the best of the 5 novels, but please, don’t let that fool you. I devoured the entire series in a weekend where I saw very little sun and ordered pizza to avoid interruptions (I might have shown up to work without sleeping). If you are looking for some light casual reading or an fun fantasy romp, this is it. Read more

The Thief (The Queen's Thief, Book 1)
The Thief (The Queen's Thief, Book 1)

Review:I have mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed it, but honestly, I failed to see the brilliance everybody is raving about.

The reviewers like to point to a huge twist at the end of the story as the biggest reason for enjoying this book. But if you know in advance that you should expect something, it is very easy to pick up clues on the way and figure out the big secret fairly quickly. I think this anticipation of the big reveal threw me off a bit and I ended up a little underwhelmed whe... Read more

Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic - The Language of Thorns
Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic - The Language of Thorns

Review:The Good: Not a word can be said about this book before I mention how glorious the illustrations are. These pieces of art don’t simply illustrate, but they help tell the story, building in the margins with progressive and chilling detail as each story unfolds. I know that I’ll regularly be finding new details in the art as I reread in the future. But with that said, I can now rave about how wonderful the stories were as well! I have been excited about this project since it was announced, since o... Read more

Pestilence (The Four Horsemen Book 1)
Pestilence (The Four Horsemen Book 1)

Review:I enjoyed the read! :D Characters not over complex and believable enough. Writing flows well and the plot but doesn't overwhelm with minute details or descriptions. It's a light read with enough emotion to compel one to keep on reading. Ending could have several outcomes-- and author chose the easy way for it to end. Again, it's a light, entertaining read! Will go on to read the second in this sequel. Read more

Sky in the Deep
Sky in the Deep

Review:The cover of Sky in the Deep initially drew me in, and from there, I was hooked. A Viking-inspired story featuring a warrior girl? Count me in.

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this debut novel, but I wasn't disappointed. The story itself fluctuates between action and introspection. Relatively graphic battle scenes between enemy clans are followed by the quieter activities of daily living, and for me, this really worked.

Eelyn, a Viking warrior of the Aska clan, discovers... Read more

A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes)
A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes)

Review:I’m really sad about writing this review because An Ember in the Ashes is one of my favorite books of all time. I HOUND everyone I know until they read it. Elias and Laia from Ember are two of my favorite characters in all of fiction. I’ve reread Ember and A Torch Against the Night *so* many times in eager anticipation of Reaper at the Gates releasing.

Reading friends, I DNFed Reaper at the Gates.

My favorite characters. My favorite series. My most anticipated book of 2018.

Review:This was a great book. The other reviews covered the good stuff, so I'll just say this: you know it's a good book when the fact that the 2nd one isn't out yet ruins your whole weekend. The 2nd won't be here till 2017. Read more
